Acharastan's Tips and Tricks to a Good Royalia RP

1. The "Planned Conversation" Method - The Planned Conversation Method is a method used to create long, detailed posts between two player's characters. I've seen countless examples where one-sentence-posts fly because two characters are in a conversation. I have created a method to change that. Before you make a post that involves talking between two player's characters, TG that player in your character what they would say in the post. That player will reply in their character. Keep doing this for what the entire conversation would be, add some details inbetween, and post it! Now you can have long posts with inter-player-interaction, and all the other player will agree on it! You can use this for other things, such as fights, reactions, etc.
2. Use multiple Characters - Imagine how bland it would be if we all used one character? Don't be afraid to put multiple people in your posts, including non-government ones. Using civilian characters, you can show what something looks like from a non-leader perspective. This is especially useful for setting up a revolution. You can show the revolution leader's childhood, their motives, and other cool things with the power of side characters!
3. Every Detail Matters - Remember, the more detail, the better. Not only does it make the reader feel that they are there, but it can be used as tools for other players. Even by showing the exact number of vases in a room, you can make the whole scene turn on a dime. Maybe two characters get in a fight, and one hits the other with a glass vase. Or maybe another has an allergy to flowers, and must leave the room. If said character is very important, other characters may follow him/her to a room with different objects. The more detail, the better.
4. Suspense is a Writer's Tool - Take a long time writing? Worried others will wonder where your post is? Good. Taking time not only produces the best output, but sets suspense upon other players. As you create the story, others will let their minds drift. What will happen next? What will this character do? These thoughts make the end product so much better. Take your time.
5. Use War AND Peace - When people think of RPs on Nationstates, they think of wars. But that's only a small part of Royalia. Yes, there should be battles, but don't be limited to that. Put trade in. Add a natural disaster or two. Add other issues in. Launch a rocket or two into space (For the MT - FT Eras)! History isn't just war, it's the whole thing!
6. No Leader is Perfect - You know how it is. Everybody want's to be the good guy. Then we end up with total peace, which is unrealistic looking at world history. Everybody loves a good villain. It adds a sense of urgency. And most of all, villains are a great excuse to have a revolution.

Perhaps we should work up to WW1? A detailed history is important, with progressive tech especially. Jumping straight into a WW1 like scenario this early would almost be pre-mature. I'm sure that eventually, with time and patience, we'll get there; and when we do it'll be glorious.
