And just ignore a frontier quite literally as important as the New World was to Europeans in the 1500s?

Alright, we won't ignore it.

But I generally think that China and Russia will rush through the colonization without the need to consult to the other nations and organization. And are we going to include UN as one of the seven (USA, Russia, China, India, EU, Japan, UN) organizations and nations that can go to space?

They'll try, perhaps, but it's unrealistic for other entities like the US to not care about it.

I consider it not only an option, but the most likely option. By 2030? Space colonization? That's just nuts, the Moon? Sure. One or two mines? Maybe (unlikely, though).

Alleniana wrote:And just ignore a frontier quite literally as important as the New World was to Europeans in the 1500s?

Except not everyone can afford a $200,000 space ride.

Alleniana wrote:Well, how would you propose ventures into space decide who can mine what?

Am I the damn UN now? Maybe internationally granted contracts? Corporation contracts? I expect, at 2030 (and this is a stretch), a mining company that would export to everyone, maybe through the UN, idk.

Well that's where we differ, then.

Neither could everyone have afforded a several-month long ship ride, especially while still having enough supplies to not get unhealthy enough as to shorten one's life span.

All of those options could easy be considered a "scramble for space". If mining is proved profitable, which will eventually become the case, then it won't be long before everyone wants a contract, or a share in a company that has one. Even if mining isn't profitable by RP's start, it won't be long after the RP starts that it is.

If it's profitable, everyone's going to want a piece. It's as simple as that.

I'm proud of the faekin Bear Flag Revolt, okay? As long as it's California being important...

Unfortunately, all of the Yorkish revolts usually seem to be influenced by something other than regionalism or nationalism.

Pilgrimage of Grace, Harrowing of the North, Stafford and Lovell Rebellion, Yorkshire Rebellion of 1489.

I can see how it's possible (WALL-E is possible too), but I don't see how it's likely, and I really don't see how it would be anywhere near an issue to constitute a scramble for space or anything.

Did Russia's economy ever recover?

It's like China, India and the EU would be the main perpetrators; the former two have huge populations in regards to population density, and the latter... well... Imperialism.

IIRC, they were initially going to use the UN Flag in order to show human solidarity. But ehhh...

Getting Reelected > Showing Human Solidarity

Amirite?

Not even joking, though, Europe's main advantage is that it is able to rule over places that are not, in fact, Europe and which have decent resources.

for spess; USA, EU, Russia, India and China are the ones pretty much guaranteed to be meddlers in that field in future (China, EU and USA more so than the other two), IMO, while powers including but not limited to Argentina, UK, Iran, Japan, Brazil and Canada would be ascendants. Stuff like the pan-Arab agency, possible major leavers of the EU, south Americas and developed Asian countries would begin to make an appearance on the world stage.

First move should always be to crush Novgorod and Muscovy ASAP. Try to ally with Polan/Lithuania in order to do this, should be easier for you what with you sharing the same religion. Prevent Russia from ever forming by either annexing/puppeting large chunks of Novgorod and Muscovy.

Russia is actually amazingly not a threat, since Uzbek managed to crush Muscovy; I stole some chunks of Karelia, Kola, etc. (including Neva) so I'm happy with leaving them alone for now. Thing is that I'm trying to make inroads elsewhere, and the HRE is just a big Austria-protected mess (with stronk Hansa allied with England and Poland thrown in), my ally France is remarkably weak (Austrian lowlands & Burgundy, plus random blobs taken by Spain), Spain still hates me and has a way larger navy, and Poland's Baltic is a potential target, but not that juicy considering their culture and allies. I've taken Highlands + Aberdeen from England, but even when they're experiencing Civil War, my army isn't good enough to beat them and their allies. Nor my fleet, mostly.
