Torsiedelle wrote:Torii looked over at the crab and covered her mouth. "Aaawww, it's adorable! Thank you! I was chasing one earlier, but I let it go, and I haven't seen another one since."

Torii scratched Nick's ear. "I wish I had a gift for you. I feel bad about it, but I hope if isn't too bad.", She said. "But I'm still happy to be here. Isn't Christmas wonderful?"

<It is, and I don't mind. I'm so glad you like your gift! You obviously have seen another one since... (Image of the crab). Feel free to name it whatever you want.> Lazily, he batted at his shiny new snake ornament. "Hssh! Hssssth!" The hissing might have sounded threatening, to those familiar with behavior of normal felines; this feline was just goofing off. The upright ears, not to mention the positive emotions Torii would feel, might help others to understand that that was the case.

Rmwtyliin caught her ornament as she raced back to the castle. Ooh, pretty! She didn't know why the snakes had knobbly things on their ends, but chalked it up to the alternate reality thing. Sitting back down, she retrieved the larger-shell lamp, added resin, and started churning out lamps 23-41. Pour resin from large shell around prepared wick material, use peeling knife to cut wick, sprinkle on dry sand, set aside...

Kwa'a held a cord. She'd already made gifts. But she was receiving gifts from others, some of whom seemed to be in a position of power... She glanced at the ornament again.

Kale stood by and watched Remilia make her lamps. Her eyes glistered with awe as she watched, clutch Short-Pine closely. "Wow, you'r so good at making things Remilia!" she said, "And I love the lamp you made for me!" The lamp she made was set off carefully to the side.

Kale got a look of curiosity on her face. "So, you gonna put these lamps up in the castle or around the feast? I heard a lot of people are there," she said, "Also, you need anymore help?"

Nick elicited a chuckle from Torii. "Well, I could name it Kaiju, since I can imagine a giant crab monster attacking a city right now. I mean, it's just a normal, tiny crab, but it could still fit."

"Anyway, is there anyone else you have to see? Let's eat!"

"I figured she'd be doin' somethin' more festive like." Brit stated. She went to look at the time on her phone, but the phone was dead. Looking over to her watch, she too found it dead. And last, but certainly not least, her iPod had died as well. She groaned, as now she was completely without technology. Boredom would set it, and keeping her mind occupied was a very important thing for her.

Meanwhile, Sinyaya was hugging the stuffing out of the dust bunny when her gift from Nick arrived. She opened the oyster and marveled at the pearl. Mon smiled and patted her daughter's hair. "It's pretty, isn't it." She said. Sinyaya giggled and then put it in her mouth, thinking it looked tasty. Mon, horrified, immediately gave her daughter a reactive smack on the back. The pearl flew out of her mouth and was caught by Varona at the other side of the table. "Honey, that's not to be eaten!" She said, pulling her over and giving her a hug, knowing she hit her a bit too hard.

The girl glanced up from her work. "They are gifts, actually. This seems to be a longest-nights festival, or similar, and I thought that lamps would be appropriate. I feel giving nothing would be rude, and my tutors say that giving unequally or something of that sort... Well, it is not wise as it may seem insulting." She pushed her lips out. "So I went with this. They will burn for... Maybe a one in one twenty five of a day. If you put some clay on top and let it dry, it seals the lamp so that you can hold it in a pouch with no sticking in the pouch later... Actually..." She hadn't thought that the others would be able to do that much to help, and hadn't really been willing to trust them to, say, pour resin or perform similarly time-consuming tasks. Even she had gotten burned by the stuff! But her intent had never been for the lamps to be used immediately...

"Would you see if you can find some clay? Small covers, in heat, should not take a great deal of time to dry. We would need to shelter them from the white cold mountain stuff... Oh! The clay that is firm like leather - that dry - would work well if you find it!" She continued working on the lamps; soft, dry sand was sprinkled on one in the second 5 of the second 25.

Nick poked his paw towards the small grains of sand surrounding Kaiju. <You could build a tiny city in there - maybe even out of sand! I'm sure Kaiju here would eventually knock it down, although I'd guess hiding food in the city would speed up the process... Yes, food sounds pleasant. I'll just...> The gifts remaining in Nick's pile were kicked under the Christmas tree.

Kwa'a stared at the tree. Should I? Well, you do have all of your gifts other than these taken care of, your ward's having fun. It would be nice... Let's see, who would that involve? She spotted a package. Kwa'a on one side of tag... That's why I missed it. It was a small rock - gray quartz, as Nick had inferred that Kwa'a's use of eye colors to select cord hues meant that it was important to her. Anyway, taken care of. She'd received gifts from Naomi really should reciprocate, seems to like knitting etc anyway. Is a simple cord necklace appropriate? I made one fancier for Rnwtyliin. Who is my ward. Would yarn be appreciated... Maybe offer to teach a few techniques? Why not? A necklace was quickly fashioned. Not knowing of any other relevant hue, Kwa'a simply used a brown similar to that of the, er, gift on the nightstand. However, a note was present on the interior bark of the wrapping, along with the instructions: "Like discuss to techniques yarn?" Kwa'a's apartment number accompanied it. The tag was nothing fancy: "For Naomi From Kwa'a." A tag with a snake went on the necklace gifted to whoever had given a serpentine ornament; the cord, in keeping with that theme, was greenish-brown. Both gifts went under the tree, as did, as Kwa'a caught on, Thriller's. She felt that it would be prudent to hold onto the others for now.

"Who tries eating pearls, Silly?" Rachelle giggled from where she was standing, having been watching for a few moments, tongue-tied on how to approach the situation. She stepped forward and headed towards the table, hopping up right next to the Mother and Daughter. "So what'd you get for Christmas?" She asked, having been waiting to ask that to someone all day. She really just wanted to use it as an excuse to inform then on what she'd been given though.

"I got this!" Sinyaya held up the dust bunny that Mon let her have. "Isn't it cute?"

Varona rolled the pearl across the table and let Mon put it back in the oyster. "She got a lovely pearl as well. How've you been, sweetie? It's been a long time since I've seen you. You grew up!" She smiled.

"It's a little strange but . . . Yeah, I can see how it's cute!" Rachelle grinned, taking off her hat, adorned with a red-star pin, hammer and sickle held in the middle. She smiled proudly as she set it on the table. "I got this, it's really fuzzy! My dad was in the army where they wore these." She nodded, pulling out the TF-gun, looking almost like a water-pistol painted black. "And this too!"

"My mama came home for Christmas to see me." Sinyaya looked back at Mon and smiled. "So what's your name? And what's that thing?" She still held the dust bunny close, though Mon took one of the little balls from it and studied it in her hand. It was...odd.

"I'm Rachelle, and I know her!" Rachelle smiled and pointed at Mon with a wide smile. True, it had been quite a while since seeing the woman that her family considered a good friend, but seeing her know was all the cooler! "And she's your mother? That's like, awesome!"

"A gift," Ru'HoFF explained as he grabbed a flagon of beer, "from a god."

The mangy orange, yellow & white patterned bag of fluff looked like something his mother would have kept in the kitchen filled with spices, but without the glossy black eyes, noticeable ears and odd front teeth of course. The thing looked like a child's toy, soft and pliable and did nothing to ease the Klingon's weary scrutinizing as his eyes bore onto the detail with rough fingers clasping on it indelicately, Mezran was all but sure it was; something he'd keep and give away to his children. If one day he had any, that is. For now Mezran would keep the dust bunny, a gift was a gift after all and it'd be dishonorable to discard it simply based on aesthetic principles.

There was a tag attached to the ragged figurine and as he opened the tiny little card, Mezran instantly noted the handwritten Klingon script: Mezran, may your hunts always end in victory, love Naomi. He grunted at the kind words, holding the figurine idly in his calloused hand and followed cultist for a round of beer.

He had almost forgotten his own gift for the year, which came nicely at time of the human Christmas celebration. Naturally, being part of the House entailed a few things, such as loyalty and honor and no small amount of courage and intelligence. Klingon custom adhered to welcoming others into their house provided they were 1) honorable and worthy (a given) & 2) granted by the Head of the House. The tradition was generally unchanged since the time of Kahless, but the protocol to whom bestowed such an honor varied from house to house. In terms of Mezran's own house traditions, membership could be granted by leading members of the House. Mezran, being a captain of the Klingon Defense Forces was one such member. Their house was burgeoning during the Dominion War, and even after they were well on their way to being minor houses of the Klingon High Council. That meant honoring current friends of the House and seeking allies deemed worthy of forging bonds, and in some cases, inducting them into the House. For the House of StoH'raQ, such an honor was deeply personal and while other Houses would have celebrations and informal inductions; it was a quiet affair for the House of StoH'raQ, the gravity of which was never taken lightly not since the founding of their family. The choice of joining was optional of course and there was no said time frame on when it would happen or how. They could also celebrate later, if they accepted.

The making of the emblems, however, had been a challenged for Mezran, but the trip to Qo'Nos had not been without its fortunes (Bloodwine & Warnog notwithstanding). The trouble had been finding a metalsmith and without a proper place to make the items his plans had dragged on. As luck would have it, or perhaps by virtue of gods and beings beyond his reckoning that granted a boon upon him, Mezran had three new emblems; the center of which would be in Klingon script to roughly denote the name of the person.

Put in individual dark wooden boxes, the Klingon placed the boxes on the table with their names written outside on aged Klingon paper cards in English with a message written in quick "Klingonese" (they'd understand it... err, hopefully) inside:

"[Insert HanS, ChryS or Ru'HoFF],

Our journey to my homeworld was a journey worthy of song and story, but it also gave me time to reflect upon that which is not often given to 'outsiders'. In Klingon custom, only other Klingons are accepted into our houses, but exceptions are made to exceptional persons. You are one such and the House of StoH'raQ would be honored and humbled to having you with us.

Let me know if you accept."

He had noticed Hans and Chrys were not too far away but the two were having a moment and far be it for Mezran to interrupt. Ru'HoFF was by Will and he decided to join them afterward, for now his stomach growled and the Klingon was wondering if there was any food that wasn't cooked available.

A simple card with an even simpler note, Mab perked an eyebrow and appreciated the thought from Naomi. Those ragged things handed to a select few were interesting to see from afar but up close it looked unique. There was something to be said about its hideousness however, a certain beauty that only Winter could appreciate and Summer to have running for the hills. The Sidhe didn't mind not having one, after their first encounter, she was surprised Naomi had even given thought about her. She sat by and watched, not particularly hungry and content to sipping an eggnog.

"Dark chocolate, whomever Naomi is is awesome. That's mine," Hunter said enthusiastically and snatched one right from Dan's box. He hadn't received on but then he didn't know who Naomi was to begin with. The Fae didn't care about the pilfered candy piece as he preferred the milk chocolate selections instead.

"It's a nice thought, we'll have to go say thank you," Dan said with a nod. They had already eaten, having worked up an appetite after surfing to which the fae had fallen off his board and provided an endless supply of laughter to Hunter. The human wasn't any better.

"After chocolate," Hunter said, taking another piece.

"After chocolate."

kale gave a passionate (but entirely incorrect) salute. "Oh it!" she said. She dashed out of the castle to find the clay Remilia needed. She dashed to the jungle, going into the interior fearlessly. She searched the ground, using her feet to feel the ground. She knew what clay felt like on her feet. he walked around the jungly bed, entering into a wet area with a pond at the center. She felt the wet soil squeeze between her toes. A few yards from the pond, she stopped. She felt it. "There you are!" she said.

She crossed her arms, a seed dropping from her hair. The seed exploded with growth, taking the shape of a humanoid figure. The figure had two sets of arms. One set was normal, the other were much longer and had shovel-like hands. Kale uncrossed her arms and looked at her creation. "Hmmm.... I'll call you Kurt!" she said, "Now, start digging up the clay!" Kurt nodded, then started using his shovel hands to dig into the muddy clay loam. After a minute, there was a pile of clay right next to a three foot deep hole. "That's good!" she said. Kale had created leaven baskets to carry the dug up clay. "Take these two bags and fill them up," she said.

A few minutes later, Kale and Kurt were back at the castle, each carrying two baskets of clay. Four baskets in total. "Remilia!" she exclaimed, "I'm back! Got the clay!" She put her two baskets down nearby Remilia. Kurt held onto his.

Rmwtyliin (known to Kale as Remilia) looked very, very warily at Kurt. "Thank you! This is" so much more than we need that it is rather silly "...easily usable, and we will not have a shortage!" She trimmed Lamp #40's wick. "Hold on..." The lamps were a bit delicate, as well as being her gifts. Even though it might speed up the process slightly, she didn't wish to entrust assembly to anyone else.

"Truly, this helps. I do not ..." A small sigh. "I would prefer to complete assembly of these on my own, although if you know of any means of hastening the drying of clay such would be appreciated. Perhaps you might craft gifts of your own?" With that, she grabbed a handful of clay, carefully patting it into a lamp from the second group completed.

Reginald looked around at the party. As he looked around he started to think to himself," Christmas parties, They do bring back some memories some of them good others..I prefer not to think about which is odd but oh well". Reginald then got up then said to himself," I might as well get myself something to eat after all it is a party and it is meant to be enjoyed". As he walked towards the food he heard a voice in his head. The voice said in a German accent," I have Found you Crowley". Reginald realized that this was not Merlin,He slowly looked around nervously and said to himself," I musrt be hearing things". He then arrived at the foods and started looking. As he he looked the voice appeared again saying", You may not see me now Crowley but you will and i will be the last thing you ever see". Reginald stood there trying to comprehend what he just heard

"Reginald!" Kwa'a walked over. It was a holiday; why shouldn't she have some fun? "I you the hope liked necklace. Something happen has? Look you nervous as this me morning -" Had it really been that brief a time? Strange - "You're alert also when eat you?"

(Meanwhile, Rmwtyliin carefully patted clay into a shell around the wick and Nick took a big whiff of the dinner selections.)

"Understand better than I might you." Something seemed off about that sentence. "Than you might I." One of the two would probably have the intended meaning. Grammar in this language... Of course, very few of the many Bomic tongues that had existed over the years were more logical grammatically! Even Sharedspeak, which had started out as a pidgin (and therefore with simple, regular grammar) had gotten less and less regular as millennia passed and it became a common first language in its own right, and High Tongue? PERISH THE THOUGHT.

The woman grabbed a slice of mango. Fruit had always been a treat... She took a bite, glancing around. "Never left home, but been I've for long time." Much longer a time than she intended to admit anytime soon, given that that would mean explaining her nature; Rmwtyliin needed a guardian more than she needed to be honest. Kwa'a could live under her own name, and conduct her affairs without fear. For now, that would be enough; honest explanations and acceptance could come later. (And if perhaps a bit of vanity might have contributed to the decision as well, she found that understandable.) Me little suprise. You tell what problem me, please." Having continued to munch throughout, she now shook off her fingers, dropped a seed on the ground, and turned to face the time-traveler.

Reginald sighed. He thought to himself," If i tell he she will think i am some bloody loon,But she is insisting that i tell might as well". Before reginald could tell reginald saw something,It appeared to be a man in safari clothing similar to his except it was torn and bloodied. The figured turned and started at reginald and pointed and laughed and said something in German. When reginald blinked the man was gone without a trace. The personification lifted a glass. Clear water, iced - quite uncommon at home, at least amongst the lower classes, although a reasonable facsimile thereof could be, and was, prepared in winter. "Ghosts some have people stories of." They were similar, from what she knew, to spirits; like many of the latter, they were imprints of those who had died and could to a small extent affect the physical world. Unlike such spirits... "Them it said is you can see. Ghost, wish I have to seen." Without quite realizing, she put a great deal of emphasis on seen, more than mere italics can convey; her glass clinked as it slammed down, scattering moisture over her hand to match that which filled her eyes.

Unless one is a genealogist, therapist, geneticist, or FBI agent - who is acting within the scope of their job - to claim that anyone is wrong about their own identity is not merely absurd but also extremely rude.

The figured turned and started at reginald and pointed and laughed and said something in German. When reginald blinked the man was gone without a trace. Reginald then said," i..i saw a ghastly apparition right there near the entrance. It looked like someone i knew."

Reginald thought to himself," Hmm,Could it be possibly that it is a ghost and not a vision brought on by a variety of factors". He then heard the glass clink as she slammed it. He stared at her at seeing the moisture in her eyes he said in a very soft voice," Kwa'a? Are you Feeling alright"?

Kale thought for a moment, then crossed her arms. Kurt's shovel hands turned into leafy fan-like hands. Kale uncrossed her arms and walked up to Kurt, holding a piece of clay in her hands. "Okay so shape the clay like this!" she said, shaping the piece of clay into a similar shape to way remilia was making, "Then, use your hands to fan it off, like this." She then started waving her hand up and down at the shaped clay. Kurt nodded, the did the same. "Oh, and turn around. I don't want you knocking over a lamp!" she said, shifting him around. When Kurt finished his piece, he started fanning. The gusts coming from him were like that from a tropical storm. Fortunately b his positioning, the lamps nearby were unaffected. The clay dried quickly. He handed the dried piece to Kale.

Kale moved back over to remilia, showing her the piece. "Is this good?" she said.

"Oyg -" she took a deep breath. "N-no." She clutched the edge of the table. Ghosts (assuming their existence) didn't know how good they had it. They were visible, could be photographed. Even before that, could be sketched, if one wanted, from something more accurate than memory. Ordinary spirits, too, didn't know how good they had it. Being able to fade away... Not watching a hundred generations die... The sad thing was, often they'd thought she was the fortunate one. "It's hard. You know?" The remainder of the glass was downed, as discomfort from holding ice in her mouth would at least distract Ms. (Miss?) Bhewehg somewhat.

"I am sorry," replied the girl, "But it will not work. The clay must dry within the shells to fit well, and if you do that to the lamps I will soon have no lamps! Your attempting is appreciated. Thank you." She set the thirtysomethingth clay-sealed shell aside, picking up another, grabbing another lump of clay. Kneading it just enough to deal with large air bubbles, she pinched off a bit and set to sealing yet another shell.

Reginald sighed. He then said," I understand. Seeing people you know die and you cannot do a thing about it. Being not from this time i know everyone i cared for in the past died but i live on in the present knowing i will never see them again. I can not forget sometimes i wish i could".

"No. Forgetfulness...don't that want you. Knowing that person important was meant to you... Not laughed they, looked they knowing... Pain, guilt that's." She grabbed a grape, tucking in in her cheek. "Forget not's us let, today though happy is. Moment let's enjoy." A chomp burst the grape; the flavor was delightful. A smile, small, was elicited. "Times...to sorrow speak...thousand...to joy speak...few. My mother -" her eyes, for a moment, squeezed shut - "That said." It's strange what you do remember. Pleasing things, let's of talk. Like the you food?" The Bomic reached for an orange cube. It resembled cheese, although the color and to a lesser extent texture were off. Nipping off a corner, she discovered that it also tasted rather cheesy, if a bit saltier and less sweet than that to which she'd been accustomed.

Reginald sighed and took a piece of pineapple and took a bite. The pineapple had a bitterness some sweet. Reginald then said," The food here is decent is suppose. They could use fresher pineapple". Reginald then grabbed a glass of water and took a drink that's when he heard the voice again. The voice said," You may not see me but i see you,But believe me after tonight..Lets just say you will be joining the people you knew in the past". Reginald hearing that drunk his water and tried to stay calm.
