So, NSG, today is International Civil Aviation Day, and like so, I would like to talk about aviation itself. About the struggles of the pioneers of flying machines - not only the Wright brothers, but many, many more! Have you heard of Franz Reichelt, the man who invented (well, kind of) the parachute suit? He put it on and jumped off the Eiffle Tower, only to kill himself doing so. His invention was later modernized and proven to work correctly. Personally I think aviation is fantastic. I've been partially obsessed with it ever since childhood. One of these days I'm gonna get myself a pilot's license.

Speaking of aviation tragedies, I've always found the story of the B-24 that got stranded in the Sahara to be harrowing yet immensely fascinating. Several movies and television shows have been based off of the incident.

I have celiac disease, it's not pleasant. Also, later on my second deployment, a seahawk almost collided with the bridge.

That's unfortunate. I know how much chronic medical conditions can suck.

How did that Seahawk almost crash? Was it pilot or instrumentation error?

Wasn't an error at all, just a really strong unexpected gust of wind. Also, for clarification, I was on the bridge, not the Seahawk.
