Ditto. You are talking like a small percentage of people out of millions who participate every year. It's the other way around for me.

At the very least they should have police monitor "Black Friday hotspots" or whatever.

I certainly wasn't the first, but, I figure that, since it's cold here and we had hail covering the ground this morning like freshly-fallen snow, and the forecast seems to think a few snow flakes and sleet pellets might mix into the ice-cold rain tonight, why the hell not. It certainly feels like Christmas in Southeastern North Carolina.

Seriously. Any store that opens any earlier than at LEAST 6am Black Friday I will not do any of my holiday shopping at, and I make a point of informing such stores of this whenever and wherever it is possible to send such feedback to the people who make that decision. Any radio station that starts playing holiday music before Thanksgiving, I stop listening to until January. I draw the line at Black Friday, and I will hold it with every dollar and where I choose to spend it!

Also, only 365 days until Halloween, so there! :P

The radio station here will play Christmas music from Thanksgiving Day until midnight Christmas Day/26th of December. At least I won't have to listen to too much Ho, Ho, Ho right now.

Totally ready to have mince pies and a full roast with plum pudding for desert like Englishmen on a 35 degree (Celsius) day in the Australian summer.
My extended family is mad, but we love it.

But it's sad that I can no longer not celebrate Halloween like an Australian Ebenezer Scrooge, along with the majority of Aussies who reject this American-English-Celtic holiday. Nor can I continue be a hypocrite by criticizing people in Australia for wearing heavy, hot costumes when Summer is just around the corner (Oct 31 here was 31 degrees (pun not intended)) while celebrating Christmas (which is occasionally a hotter day, 35 or so) as described above.

First things first, Guy Fawkes/Bonfire night. Then we get all Jesus-excited, having celebrated a Catholic plot failing and the people involved being executed.
Read "A Man For All Seasons". That explains most of what I believe in. Except the Catholic bits.

Outside of here I do lead a rather unusual and colourful life. As a Spinster.

I just want a nice man with a good accent and the manners of a Royal.

As described above. It's in the memory of lost servicemen in Canada and Britain, but ANZAC Day is more popular in Australia.

Yes indeed, just as the election results in 2012 spelled the beginning of the campaign for 2016, the post-Halloween hangover(whether sugar or alcohol induced) spells the beginning of the Christmas season. Put away your Sexy Nurse Who Might Have Ebola stockings and dig out something more suitable for hanging by the fireplace. Out with the ghosts and in with the elves. Forget about razor blades in your apples, now is the time to worry about Obama making it illegal to say "Merry Christmas". Had fun being grumpy about children coming to your house all night? Time to get grumpy about me making this thread on the first of fucking November(God that Ifreann is an awful bastard, grumble grumble back in my day...). Been telling your friends how the Christians stole Halloween from pagans? That was the dress rehearsal, and curtains are in five.

So have you started your Christmas preparations yet? Have you finished your Christmas preparations, you crazy person? Do you want to rant about Christmas coming earlier and earlier? Have I become everything you hate about the modern, commercialised holiday season?

Despite what you may think from my having made this thread, I'm not actually the type to jump into Crimbo so early. I'm pretty much just taking the piss with this thread. Though, my family has kinda been gearing up for Christmas for a while now. Christmas dinner, specifically. My parents and a few friends decided over several drinks last Christmas that, since one of them had raised chickens, they'd all go in on some turkeys for this year. And surprisingly they followed through. So for a few months there have been turkeys in my next door neighbour's back garden. They're a lot quieter than the chickens were, I'll give them that much.

PS: Santa isn't real. Sorry kids.
PPS: Oh, also Hannukah and Kwanza!
PPPS: Shit, isn't Eid around this time of year too?

1. I do not decorate my house during Christmas. I do not bother with the lights, X-mas trees, elf cutouts etc. The place shall not be decorated.

2. I shall not engage in mass consumerism of things I do not need like discounted clothing. I shall not fall prey to the blind consumerism.

So no, I do not need to ''prepare'' for Christmas at all.

I'm just going to spend it alone in the house, using the holidays to spend more time watching movies, playing video games, drawing, and having a few trips to fancy restaurants.

But there will be no, Christmas-specific preparations. There will be no such thing.

Bah, humbug.
