From Deepest Fathoms Pt.1

Postby Vvarden » Mon Jul 28, 2014 11:48 pm

Professor Roris Saadri approached the tent quickly, trying not to waste his time here. It was a government installation, so whatever he had been called here to examine had to be very important indeed.
He was New Andas Universities' leading zoologist, and part time anthropologist, and he had studied thousands upon thousands of animal specimens
He walked up to the soldier guarding the entrance and showed his pass. There he was escorted inside to a stretcher with a blue sheet covering it. There he pulled off the sheet and saw the remains beneath.
It was simply unlike anything he had seen before. It seemed to have a human like bone structure but it was certainly different.
"High-heeled foot." he stated, looking at the bones and not hesitating to touch.
"Long feet."
"Rodent-like skull. What is this?" He whispered to himself.
"We were hoping you would tell us." A man with combed hair, a small beard and dressed in tweed came through the door.
"Devyn Hlaaro, Professor of Anthropology at your service." He shook hands with Saadri and looked at the remains.
"Where did-," Saadri was just about to ask when Devyn interrupted him.
"Not far from here, about several kilometres away from here. We found it in the exposed ruins of an ancient temple. Come. Let me show you." Devyn walked out the tent, with a interested Saadri following behind.

The walk was long and tiring, the path thin and narrow, and the woods surrounding it thick and bushy.
About a half hour later they came to a large stone cliff-face, perfectly normal for a forest like this. But what was unfamiliar was the large cylindrical shape that came out of the cliff, pointed upwards, and at the cylinder's base there was a partly exposed sphere.

Image

Below that was a doorway made from chiselled stone. There was a small door that seemed to have traces of writing possibly even a drawing on it.
"It looks like an observatory." Saadri remarked.
"Indeed." Devyn replied.
Devyn stood and pushed down on a crank next to the door and suddenly the door moved to the side, so that it looked like a coin on it's side.
They went inside crouching, and Saadri stared in amazement at the humungous, spacious corridors inside. After going through such a small door, one would expect to be in a small corridor but that was not the case. Pipes lined the walls and ceilings, inscribed with some unknown language, piles of rubble, broken pots and cups lay strewn on the floor and at the other end of the corridor Saadri saw a man, in a red checked shirt and cream coloured pants writing down the letters that were on the pipes into his notebook.
"It's amazing." Saadri remarked as he leant against a pipe. He pulled back instinctively when he felt the pipe was scalding hot. The pipes were still working after who knows how many years.
"Yes." Devyn said as he crawled through the coin door.
Saadri looked closer at one of the walls in the corridor. There seemed to be faint murals painted on them, now mostly gone after hundreds, maybe thousands of years.
Saadri looked at Devyn.
"How old is this place?"
"Over two thousand years old." The man in the red shirt said.
"Roris Saadri, meet Marobar Tanis, our chief archaeologist." Devyn said.
Marobar seemed to be covered in dust, probably from working in here.
"Let me show you something." he said, and escorted them both into what seemed to Saadri as the very bones of Enkon.

An Eden in the East (with any luck)

Postby Hangdaou » Tue Jul 29, 2014 1:33 am

"Unfortunately, we cannot feed our people with Internet bandwidth and net trade profits," speaks advisory board-member Sharmong Tendatko. "We need to establish dedicated facilities to produce for our growing demand for food. What little surplus we have is dwindling with the rising headcount and our potential developmental growth is being stifled by this shortage."

"And what do you suppose we do," replies councilwoman Atma Dolyomi, her patience tested by both the arguments being presented and the lack of catering that was supposed to accompany the previous recess from delegation. "I hope I am not the only one aware of our lack of resources needed for this undertaking. We simply do not have the land to create a farming colony. We would need sizable expanses of temperate, tillable land to produce the goods, not to mention a multitude of production and manufacturing facilities and a means of freighting the goods to our metropolitan areas. I mean really most of our available land is either at elevation or already being developed to accommodate our expanding urban complexes."

"I understand the issue," Tendatko responds. "But we must have some way to create agriculture, lest we all starve to death. I'm certain we have the budget to establish and develop an unused area to support the new sector. We definitely have people in need of work and our developmental mag-lev system is a massive success in terms of effective and reliable transport. I'm sure we can build it all somewhere."

"Why not expand eastward?" suggests Edym Nuakung, a newly-elected councilman from Suun. "I understand that many other nations on this continent have been making recent land-grabs. Apparently, new resources have sprung up elsewhere, giving many an excuse to reach outward and inflate their borders. I say we do the same, for the sake of our people. Look, the land is level and temperate, with only a few areas unsuitable for agriculture. There is plenty of space for new settlements and facilities to fuel the production of foodstuffs there. We can expand our rail networks and eventually expand separate systems to serve as freight transport. Hell, we might even be able to use some of the surplus to bolster the economy a bit. It will only take a few years to fully develop the new area with the resources here. And I'm sure we'd all like to see the state grow and prosper."

The council takes a few moments to delegate amongst themselves before everyone is called to order.

"Alright," speaks legislative chairman Zetko Otolba. "We seem to be in agreement here. The delegation itself returned a relatively unanimous vote. We shall proceed with Mr. Nuakung's proposal and send a team of surveyors eastward. Once we have our results, development of agricultural settlements and subsidiary facilities will begin."

Despite Tragedy, Energy Race Continues On
Image

Hexagons 0715 & 0716, Enkon - Despite the torpedoing of a Solisian oil surveyor ship off the coast of Hexagon 0715, Solisia's "dirty" energy race is to continue on. But there has been added safety precautions due to the neighboring conflict between St. Saratoga & Romaniania. First off, all voyages on the coast of Hexagon 0715 have been halted for Solisian-flagged ships. And second, helicopters flying surveyors into inland Hexagon 0715 will recieve military escort. President Bruno Ibarra is not willing to take any more chances on these surveyors as the neighboring war continues on. On the other hand, surveyors en route to Hexagon 0716 will not have to abide by these new safety precautions as the territory itself is landlocked and relatively far from the conflict. Due to Solisia's public crying for a cheaper energy alternative from "clean" energy, the Iberian government plans to annex Hexagon 0715 & 0716 for their abundance of oil & coal. Oil in Hexagon 0715 & coal in Hexagon 0716.

A University of Akhmis' curved solar panel installed on a bus station

Casablanca, Mare Solis, Enkon - Upon recieving the University of Akhmis' high tech curved solar panels, suggestions came forth that these solar panels have the ability to power the city of Casablanca for a day. Casablanca was not only selected due to the University of Akhmis' suggestion, but also due to the city's high tourist attraction. Casablanca is one the most visited cities in the Most Serene Republic, and the Solisian government wants to maintain that by keeping the city "clean" with the University of Akhmis' solar panels. After days of installing, today marks the day the solar panels shall be used. These solar panels heavily relies upon the weather and fortunately the weather is perfect today, with lots of sunlight.

Ghost of the Ostfront Pt. 3

Postby St Saratoga » Tue Jul 29, 2014 12:24 pm

St. Petersburg, Romaniania -

The Saratogan Delegation has been driving for a few hours now. When driving through cities its been very tense. Angry looking people line the streets just staring at the convoy as it passes by. The complete silence is eerie to President Dan Carlin. The President looks around in the car seeing Vice President Romeo De Santa avoiding the windows by looking at his feet and thinking that everyone else in the convoy must be doing the same thing. Dan can feel the hate but he didn't understand one thing, why did they vote to leave. After returning home from the presidential tour he visited these people, they were cheering.

Image

"Sir?"

President Carlin looks from the window to see De Santa looking at him, "Ya?"

"Are you ready for this?" De Santa says with a concern.

"Never better!" Carlin puts on a fake smile

"Five minutes until we reach our destination!" The driver shouts back.

These were the longest five minutes of President Carlin's life. As he arrives at the building to see two lines of soldiers, on the right side of the entryway is unarmed Romaniania troops and on the left is unarmed Saratogan troops. The car stop and the driver opens the door. As the door opens both lines of soldiers salute and President Catherine Micheals opens the door.

De Santa gets out and I imitatively surrounded by a cloud of bodyguards as well as the Director of Foreign Affairs and Director of Defense. President Carlin gets out of the car, is immediately surrounded by guards and is hustled to the door where Presdent Micheals is waiting. President Micheals reaches out her hand.

"Welcome to St. Petersburg Mr. Carlin!" President Micheals says in a cheerful voice. "I'm so glad you could make it!" "Shall we?"

President Micheals leads Carlin in.

The Saratoga delegation is lead to a conference room deep in the capital building. When they enter the room, all the guards take positions near the door as Carlin walks in and takes a seat. The rest of the delegations take seats around him.

"I'm quite impressed with all of this." Carlin says in shock, realizing there is a glass of water in front of him that a scrawny boy just pour, he takes a sip.

"So, whats this treaty you would like to propose?"

President Micheals slides a document over to him.

"I'll summarize all the writing for you, The Government of Romaniania, gets to keep its Independence and is recognized by the Government of St. Saratoga in return the Government of Romaniania, joins the Global Alliance, pleads guilty to war crimes against a neutral nations and unrestricted submarine warfare but Saratoga must pay for all damages caused by the war to both sides."

Both President look up at each other. Four servants walks in carrying wine bottles and glasses and start serving wine to the 4 Saratogan delegates

"If you agree to these terms please sign below here and here and here and lastly here, when you finish pass it to me and ill sign it then this war will be over." President Micheals stands up and offers a pen to Carlin.

Carlin, reading over the offer in disgust, the amount of money to repair both sides and the financial cost of losing Romaniania would be incredible. "I cant accept this offer, its unreasonable and way to expensive."

President Micheals looking a Carlin blinks, sits back, and takes a sip from the wine glass. "That's unfortunate."

Just then Carlin feels a sharp pain in his chest then suddenly is very nauseous and dizzy. He looks down to see a thing sticking out of his chest. Carlin grabs it and pulls it out, he reads the words on the side of it, Tranquilizer. Feeling very tired and his vision going blurry he looks to the left and right to see the rest of his delegation unconscious. Then he looks at Catherine Micheals, barely making out a tranquilizer gun, then everything goes black.

Leipzig, United Coalition -

You wake up, immediately smelling smoke and something that wants to make you vomit. Then the pain hits you, you feel like someone has drop bricks on your body but especially your face and hands. Footsteps can be heard but you cant feel your leg so you try so shout but without success. The footsteps stop so you lean up a bit to see a man holding a gun. You are surrounded by dead people, not just soldiers but civilians, men, women, and you just about vomit then you see dead children. You see crows, picking the flesh off the dead soldiers. You hear a very loud bang which makes your headache a thousand times worse. Then your gut sink, that man with the gun just shot a wounded person. That man is the enemy. You immediately pretend to be dead. Squinting your eyes as this man walks along, shooting anyone who even twitches, soldier or civilian. Man, women, or child. They have no mercy for anyone.

The soldier walk next to you. Then you hear a yell as the man laying next to you pulls out a handgun, aims it at the soldier, and pulls the trigger. *Click* A few seconds later.... *Bang* the man jerks then falls dead with a bullet hole in his head. You turn your head very so slightly so that you can see the face of this soldier, the soldier turns, looking at you, puts the muzzle of his gun centimeters from your right eye. You can feel the heat of the barrels on your face just burning you eyelid but you don't move. You move, your dead. *BANG BANG pop pop BANG* The soldier looks in the direction of the gunfire then runs towards it. You take a deep breath, then roll over into an army crawl position. You take a look around, your in a fountain in the middle of this city square. Your surrounded by the bodies some of which is burning, you gag a bit but starting crawling to a broken part of the fountain. Looking up you see massive bomber planes flying very low over the buildings with even bigger one higher up.

Image

"Stay still if you wanna live." Scared you look to your side to see a man leaning against one of the sides of the obelisk the fountain surrounds.

"Can you talk?" the man hands you a canteen. You pick it up, take a long drink. You feel much more focused and alert now. The headache starts to go away.

"Yes, barely." you say with a very hoarse voice.

"Good. I can't escape this hell with a mute." The man quietly chuckles. "Here, takes this rifle. There is a Romaniania patrol wondering around shooting survivors. If we are careful we can kill them while not bring any attention to ourselves."

Image

You take the rifle and crawl up to a hole in the fountain. You see hundreds of dead and dying people. Destroyed city streets. Romaniania troops walking amount the wreckage looking for the wounded and the dying.

"What is your name?" the man whispers.

"Private James Sauwzr." "Yours?" You look at the man.

"Sgt. Chris Lowwel"

You hear a bomber flying very low over the street.

"Wait for the bombers to fly over head and shoot. The noise of the bomber will hid the shots."

Just as the bomber is over your head you pull the trigger. *Click* Your in disbelief. You take the clip off, see that there is bullets, you put it back into the guns, then you aim again. But the soldier you aim it at is staring right back at you with his weapon raised. *BANG* *BANG* You get hit by something hard in the head.

You wake up. Look up to see a helicopter land and a squad of soldiers get out of the helicopter and start checking the dead for the dying. You black in and out watching these soldier waiting for one to find you and kill you. One of the soldiers see you watching them, runs up to you, "Are you OK?"

Staring at this soldier, "I don't know, you tell me? Am I even alive?"

The soldier laughs, "Barely!" This soldier shows you his helmet which has a sphere grid with lines coming of it and above that, a red cross. Then he turns, "I got a live one! Get me a stretcher!" A group of soldiers approach you, puts you on a stretcher. As you look to the side of where you were sniping from. You see Stg. Chris Lowwel sitting there, looking down, missing part of his skull with bits of brain and blood dripping onto his pants. You realize the object that hit you in the head was this Sgt. taking that Romaniaians bullet for you. You lean over the stretcher, vomit, and fall unconscious.

Imperial Military Command, Arkades, Arcadian System
"The report has finally been confirmed; Motako has indeed declared the independence of the AMP on Enkon. Her first move will probably be to seize control of the orbital facilities in order to deny us their use, however the Mandate lacked any sizeable naval contingent so any such attempt has either already happened or will be commencing shortly." Even with their highly advanced technology sending, receiving and processing messages on a galactic scale was a mindblowing accomplishment and one which took time; the Reich could be ponderous as a result but once it responded it did so decisively and without reserve. The 24 assembled officials represented the 3 branches of the military and the intelligence community, also in attendance was the Kaiserin Magdalena supreme ruler of the entire Reich.

"Well our course is obvious, we must respond immediately; what is our military situation int he area?"

"Nil. Apart from a small security contingent managing the orbital facilities we have nothing, the Imperial Military withdraw some time ago when we were still convinced of the Mandate's loyalty. The nearest force of sufficient size to handle the situation is an explorator fleet in sector 54k, but it will take them months to concentrate, redirect and redeploy. Our best option would be to notify them, then order the orbital facilities scuttled in the meantime to deny this COmmonwealth their use."

"Negative; the platforms are too valuable and we would be sacrificing thousands of lives for a minor tactical advantage. Ultimately Motako has insufficient numbers to repel a reconquest force alone. The Mandate numbers only 16.7 billion inhabitants with a reported military strength of 480 million personnel; they have no military space craft capable of leaving the system and the only craft in the vicinity that belong to the Reich which can are civilian cargo haulers. We have all the time we need in which to bring our superior numbers and firepower to bear."

"Agreed, have the North Arcadian 116th Explorator Fleet concentrate and redeploy as a matter of urgency; close the rift gate in the system to be sure that no Commonwealth controlled craft can elude us in the meantime and notify the orbital station commanders to surrender in the event of an attempted seizure. They will be avenged in time."

"Ave! Arcadia Uber Alles!"

Mutant Remnant Gather As Coal Mining Operation Continue
As mining operation continue near the outskirt of the newly formed city of Polis Ost, A continuous waves of mutant remnants attackers hit the barricades defending it. Lacking the manpower to hold the line, it is feared that the operation might need to be stopped until more men can be sent to reinforces the barricade. The latest attack occurred on Line 17, guarding roads leading to the coal storage area. 2 squads of rifleman are currently on the spot to the defend the line, suffering some casualties from the latest attack.

Image
Some men of the 5th Squad of the 1st Infantry Division, currently the only military division owned by the colonist, patrolling one of the route leading to the coal storage area.

It is believed that mutants ran to the abandoned tunnels after the colonist left them for the surface. These old metro tunnels now act as a staging area for mutant remnants to launch attack on unsuspecting colonist settlement or roads. Without the manpower to cleanse the tunnel, the colonist will be forced to stand their ground until any further action can be taken.

Ghost of the Ostfront Pt. 4

Postby St Saratoga » Wed Jul 30, 2014 11:28 am

Saratogan Supreme Command HQ, Disclosed Location -

"So we are all in agreement?"High Field General Samuel White looks over the group

"yes sir!" the group says simultaneously

"Ok then, Chief Justice please issue the oath." HFG White signals to the Chief Justice

The Justice walks over, places the book of St. Saratogan history down on the table, and places his hand on it.

"If you would please place your right hand on the book and put your left hand in a fist then place your fist on the center of your chest."

HFG White does so

The Justice clears his throat, "Will you please repeat after me. I, High Field General Samuel White, promise to serve the people and government of the United Coalition of St. Saratoga with honor and respect. I, High Field General Samuel White, understand that by taking this oath I am responsible for the lives of all 8.904 Billion citizens of this great country and I also understand that I will not abuse the responsibilities and privileges that come with this job. Lastly, I promise, under oath, that every decision I make will be for the good of St. Saratoga and all of its citizens."

The Chief Justice takes his hand off of the book, presents HFG Samuel White to the crowd, "By the power that has been granted to me by the "Presidential Emergency Act" I present to you, the 3rd President of St. Saratoga Samuel White!"

Everyone in room claps and cheers as President White shakes a few peoples hands.

"Well, I would like to celebrate but we have a situation that needs to be dealt with so lets get to work." President White walks into the briefing room with a cloud of staffers.

One Hour Later...

"So let me summarize everything we went over."

"President Carlin and that delegation is still alive but is being held hostage but we are close on getting a location of them. Our inside source is a close co-worker with President Micheals."

"Yes sir, I guessing we will have the location by the end of the week." One of the Intelligence Department staffers say shifting through papers.

"Secondly, the bombing of Leipzig is estimated to have killed over 20,000 residents but the city is holding out." White looks at the map front lines.

Image

An officer jumps up, "We have around 23,000 troops plus ton of the local residents and law enforcement who have created local militias. All food is being rationed and with you approval we would like to start air dropping food and water into Liepzig."

"I agree with that, It may not be a lot of food but at least I will be able to keep everyone alive down there." President White takes a sip of water

"Ok, our top priority is to halt the Romaniania advance as well as get Leipzig and Swadia out of a siege. I want the 1st, 8th, and 15th infantry division to blitz down to Carlin Airbase with the 4th & 6th tank divisions leading the blitz, when Carlin AB is cleared I want that army group to split in half, one half goes west and charges towards Leipzig and east to Galloway AB. While the first army group is splitting and charging west & east I want army group 2, with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd mobile infantry divisions escorted by the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tank divisions to keeping charging south."

Every staffer in the room is furiously writing notes on notebooks.

"The second part of the operation is a ambitious invasion of St. Petersburg and Petersburg island. For the next 13 hours I want a full on navy bombardment supported by precision air strikes on only military targets. When 13 hours have passed I want 1st-3rd marine divisions to land on the coast of Romaniania then advance as quickly as possible move to support the special forces squads that are going to land on key buildings in St. Petersburg. The mission of these specials forces squads is to infiltrate and disrupt Romaniania communications and leadership as well as when we get the location of our Delegation, rescue them."

The staffers get up and start sending emails, "What about the GA? We have some powerful allies which could help speed up this war." one of the staffers for Chamberlain say.

"I know but if the GA get their hands in on this conflict I worried they wont take them out and im not planning on being a puppet to the GA., no disrespect intended. But, I do want to William Chamberlain to inform the GA on what is happening and to remind them that this is an internal conflict. Any intervention of any country is not tolerated and will be dealt with harshly if need by." President White gets up from the tables

PSUPANAMA CANAL PROJECT - PUMPSTATION #97 - 106 KM NORTHWEST OF FORT SUKANAL IN HEX 3137

Szanders lifted his hardhat and peeled a steaming bandana away from around his head. The pumproom wasn’t heated but he hadn’t been able to escape from working on a minor valve deep in the belly of a busted 500-ton water-pump since early in the morning.

He twisted the bandana and watched as his sweat dripped out. It froze in sharp crackles as it hit the concrete floor. He looked to Tomasz, “I can’t believe I’m sweating in negative 20 degree weather!”

Tomasz pulled a pair of earmuffs away and cupped a hand around his ear, “What?!”

Szanders turned a large red knob on the auxiliary pump and it began to rev-down, “I said...”

Suddenly a loud siren began blaring in the pumproom. Tomasz looked to Szanders wide-eyed, “Turn it back on! They can’t lose pressure against the well wall! Turn it back on!”

Szanders reached for the knob as the ground shook beneath him. Half a second later, he was thrown back, off his feet as a huge explosion shattered an eastern retaining wall 285 meters from the pumproom.

Szanders tried to get back up on his feet, but two quick explosions in succession knocked him back down. His head slammed against the concrete, shattering his skull, killing him instantly.

“Szanders!” Tomasz cried from twenty feet away, his left leg had become trapped beneath a large fallen pipe. “Turn it ba-” Another explosion. The ceiling and walls of the pumproom came crumbling down in a rush of water.

Two-Hundred Eighty-Five Meters Away Near the Retaining Wall.

The jaws of a large crane plunged deep into the hard permafrost. Hildi Varac pulled hard on a lever and the jaws closed around a two-ton chunk of the rich, black earth. She locked the jaws and pushed another lever forward. The crane began to lift the great mass when Hildi felt her cab shake. She let a quick burst of fear flash pass. “Just a little tremor. Remember this is earthquake countr...”

The crane jolted to the right. The jaws still hanging near the ground swung wildly to the side hitting a passing dump truck and knocking it over.

Hildi tried to regain control when another violent quake lifted the massive crane 10 feet into the air. It crashed down, buckling beneath its weight. Hildi watched in horror as the crane fell to its side crashing against a temporary retaining wall.

She opened her eyes. A hot, red fluid dripped into her eyes. She tried to wipe it away. “Blood? Blood!” She looked up to see her left leg twisted and mashed between the seat, steering wheel, and side door. She realized she was hanging upside down. “Ugh! What the f@¢k!” She pulled at her leg and cried out in agony.

There was a thump on the side of the cab and she could hear the muffled voice of Greggo, another crane driver. He knocked on the cab, “Hildi, you OK?”

“No! My leg is trapped, and I think it’s broken!” Suddenly the ground shook again. Without warning, Hildi began to tumble around the cab. She started to scream as water began rushing in.

MASSIVE PSUPANAMA EXPLOSIONS CLAIM MORE THAN 400 LIVES!

Image

PSUPANAMA CANAL, HEX 3137 - A series of massive explosions have killed more than 400 workers on the Psupanama Canal in the southern hex of 3137.

Recovery operations are currently underway, while 230 workers are still missing or unaccounted for. Many are believed to be buried beneath tons of rock, mud and water near the 97th km mark from the canal’s southern mouth.

Officials from the Federal Investigative Agency’s Western Branch have been dispatched to the area and are expected to arrive on site in the morning.

FIA press secretary Tcarli Magk, during a briefing with journalists, refused to rule-out the possibly that the explosions were an act of terror by Vbyari rebels.

She did, however, confirm that the UTR government had yet to receive any claims of responsibility.

USS recognizes Romaniania
Midgar,46566-The Union of Socialist States has officially recognized Romaniania. While recognizing the country the USS will not support it in it's current war against St Saratoga. The USS government also condemns the attack on neutral shipping during the war. The USS would have supported the new socialist regime if such a matter hadn't of happened. At this moment no support will be given at this time.

USS looks to expand
Midgar,46566- The Socialist republic is looking to expand it's territory. Preliminary reports show that the natural gas/oil pocket appears to extend into hex 1119. The Republic will be removing some excess silvan and wavy population into the region. This move is seen as a way to claim more natural gas and oil to export around the globe.

OPEN proposal
Midgar,46566- The USS government has officially asked all Oil producing nations to come together and form economic group to determine the standard price of oil. The group called Oil Producing and Exporting Nations or OPEN for short, will determine the fair price per barrel of oil or Natural Gas.There is also hope that each nation will agree to not undercut each other on foreign sales of Oil or gas.

Promotions Signal Expansion into 1128
Following the success and efficiency of the military and colonial expansion into AH1127 under the command of Abdul Al'Akulla Military Central Command today issued a statement announcing that the Oberkommandant was to be promoted to the rank of General and invited to take a position on the General Staff as a Territorial Expansion Advisor. This will not be the first time that an officer in charge of such an expansion has been promoted in this way; however it is the first time that such an officer is directly deployed in command of the next territorial expansion campaign.

Commentators have stated that the move to expand into AH1127, now referred to as Nova Aramatherius in honour of Al'Akulla's birthplace, was not surprising given the Commonwealth's desperate need for the resources found there. Iron has been given a high priority in both trade and acquisition, meaning that a series of future expansions both into 1227, and into 0832, 0931 and 0932 will most likely be on the cards for the near future. In the interim it seems clear however that the northeastern expansions lead by Al'Akulla will be the main stated priority, since government officials refuse to confirm any plans for southward expansion.

Nova Aramatherius is the first new territory to be given Provincial status since the formation of the Commonwealth, when all former provinces and special control zones were reorganised and condensed into the 17 founding provinces. Whether or not 1128 will similarly be granted provincial status or will become a part of Nova Aramatherius also remains to be seen at this point, however judging from the press statements issued this seems to be likely.

Since 1128 is reportedly uninhabited at this time a nominal force of two army groups with full air support have been deployed to the territories to scout ahead for the incoming colonists who were set up prefabricated city structures at two designated locations. From these structures infrastructural development programs will spread outwards connecting the new territory with road and rail links to the transport network. The current colonisation doctrine follows a nodal structure, whereby the cities are established as primary control points with additional facilities being created in concentric clusters around the structure so as to facilitate development and resource exploitation.

Solisian Armed Forces Announces Modernization & Resize Progr

Solisian Armed Forces Announces Modernization & Resize Program
Image

Ciudad Real - The days are gone that the Solisian Armed Forces needed a large military that was able to defend the Most Serene Republic across four different planets. President Bruno Ibarra & Defense Secretary Roman Vega has announced a Modernization & Resize Program that is appropriate for Enkon. Currently, the sizing strategy for the Solisian Armed Forces are dated back from NCON Prime. The Modernization & Resize Program is mostly aimed towards the Mare Solis Army & the Mare Solis Marine Corps. Before, the two branches organized their men in divisions. But now a very large change is coming their way. Regarding the Mare Solis Army, President Bruno Ibarra plans to dismantle the seven divisional units within the organization & resize them into a more flexible regimental force. This means that thousands plan to be cut from the Mare Solis Army.

Not only does the Mare Solis Army have it bad, but the Mare Solis Marine Corps has it even worse. It has been announced that the Mare Solis Marine Corps, compromised of three divisions & one regiment, is to be dissolved as an independent branch and combine with the Mare Solis Navy. Once the program commences, the Mare Solis Marine Corps will combine with the Mare Solis Navy & will be called the Mare Solis Navy Marine Division. And all marine personnel shall be organized into brigades which each brigade holding up to three-thousand men, compared to the Army's five-thousand manned regiment.

Secretary of Defense Roman Vega says, "The goal here is to make an appropriate military size for the Army & Marine Corps that fits Enkon. Right now we are experiencing a surplus of personnel within the two branches, with not much to do. Not only are we resizing the military, but we are also modernizing it and giving each regiment & brigade more training & better equipment."

A Promethian ZetaResh Fibre Plate Mk1

Currently, the Solisian Armed Forces has a budget of over MS₱ 37 trillion. Divided among 64 units, each unit in the Solisian Armed Forces has a budget of over MS₱ 582 billion pesos. With this resize program expect the budget of each unit in the SAF will increase, allowing more funds for specialized training & newer equipment. Today Roman Vega announces that he has contacted a Promethius Prime military manufacturer called, ZetaResh. The Promethean ZetaResh, is a military manufacturer that specializes in armor for combat personnel. Roman Vega is currently interested in purchasing the ZetaResh Fibre Plate Mk1, and making it a standard issue within the Solisian Armed Forces. With a budget of over MS₱ 582 per each SAF unit, the Solisian military will be able to afford to make the ZetaResh Fibre Plate Mk1 standard issue, as it will cost MS₱ 90 million to supply each unit.

Not only is Roman Vega looking at Promethian equipment, but he is also looking at the Solisian Armed Forces' long partner Szukxoi Heavy Defense Industries of Athretvari, it is unknown what Roman Vega is looking for within the Athretvars military manufacturer, but will soon be announced.

Ghosts of the Ostfront Pt. 5

Saratogan Supreme Command, Disclosed Location, United Coalition -

"Mr. President." A group of military officers stand up and do the Saratogan salute.

"Sit down gentlemen, so whats the situation?" President White walks up to the table and looks over the satellite map of the front lines.

The front-lines. Red is Romaniania and Blue is Saratogan lines.

"Our Armored Divisions have done a excellent job forcing the rebels back and the infantry in also doing a good job of eliminating enemy pockets that managed to survive the waves of tanks. At this point causalities for our armored divisions are around 20-ish tanks per day but our factories are able to replace those losses easily. For our infantry we are at loosing between 150-200 troops a day. Overall our looses amount to around 2,240 troops on our northern front."

A special forces advisory stands up and adjusts the map to zoom in on St. Petersburg.

"Our Special Forces have secured key government and military installations in St. Petersburg, they are currently holding out for the marines to clear the streets for the special forces so that they can continue their search for the missing delegation. The SF have captured leading Romaniania government members and they are questioning them for information on the missing delegations. So far, we have lost only 264 SF soldiers which is better than what we projected for losses."

The President readjusts the map to have a full view of Saratoga and Romaniania, "When the location of Catherine Micheals is determine I want her captured ALIVE. She has vital information in which I want. She dies, and you loose your job." The President says looking at the SF Commander.

Another staffer stands up, "I have just received word that the Commander of Army Group North has predicted that this war will be over within the month. He says that the units holding out in Carlin AB and Swadia has just surrendered. The surrendered commander of the troops says that he has information on Catherine Micheals and Dan Carlin as well has he says that the Romaniania military is running out of supplies and food. Ammunition is also getting low."

President White perks up, "Get the info from this commander and prepare the 15th Presidential Guard for a raid on Dan Carlin and Catherine Micheals!" Everyone gets up from the table and scrambles to work.

President White who still remains at the table looking at the map says to himself, "I hope to god this raid is successful, Saratogan will not sit still for a long war."

The Royal Wedding of Caisus and Galgistan

Postby Caisus » Fri Aug 01, 2014 2:03 pm

“Oh sister. I don’t know if I can go through with this”, the man in the golden mask comments.
“Nonsense brother, you will do fine. Just allow me straighten this out…” the woman in the purple robes lined with gold said as she fixes his medals.
“What if I don’t like her?”
“Brother. Really? You sound like someone who isn’t about to marry the princess of our closest ally on Enkon.”
“But what if I don’t like her?”
“You’ll like her brother. She is a fine young woman, a gentle soul. You two will go together perfectly.”
“Her father horrifies me.”
“Says the soon to be Emperor of Caisus and Galgistan. You really need to cease worrying brother. You have dealt with so much more than this. We traveled millions of kilometers to arrive on Enkon. We survived the landing, the flu epidemic fifty years ago, even the War of the Shattered Mask.”
“Thousands of people died sister… I should have been among them.”
“Now don’t be like that. The people need you to be strong, and think of it this way: there is no way to go but up. The music has started, it is time.”
----------------------------------
“Wuh?” the man in the silver half masked said as he removed the paper stuck to his face. The banging on the door that had woke him up reaches a crescendo as the door slams open.
“Dmitri!” the man in the purple robes with silver filigree shouts.
“Oh. Morning Grant.” Dmitri said with a tired grin on his face. “To what do I owe this pleasure?”
“It’s the wedding day.”
“Wha… What??” Dmitri shot up from his desk. “Its… 9. I have three hours.”
“Your clock is slow Dmitri. It is 11.”
“Eleven???”
“Thirty.”
“THIRTY?!?!?!, oh Host, I need to get ready.” Dmitri said as he stumbled from behind his desk, knocking over a large stack of construction reports, the scrolls rolling to the sides of the room.
“Hehheh. Calm down Dmitri, I brought you your outfit”, the man in the purple robes said as he held up a set of sky-blue robes with rolling hills along the bottom trim.
“Even after all the fights we have had you still look out for me? Thank you Grant”, Dmitri said as they both walk into the hallway to the restroom.
“I have been the advisor to the leaders of Caisus for the last century and a half. I have never met one I haven’t liked, of course you have been the most argumentative. Now hurry up and change, we need to be at the palace in ten minutes. We can’t have the Speaker of the Grand Representation be late.”
“Uhg. What a horrid week. I’ve been swamped with paperwork, my car’s engine failed, and there was that thing with the nuclear attack on Aldercester. The world these days, utter chaos. It is like someone put a sphere of annihilation in a bag of devouring.”
“You play far too much of that game Dmitri.”
“Hey! Dungeons & Dragons is a centuries old classic.”
“So is Candyland.”
“Oh please Grant, Candyland is a torture technique, not a game.”
“Are you done in there yet?”
“Yes, be out in a minute.”
Coming out of the restroom, the Speaker stands with a smile on his face. “I do very much enjoy these robes, perfect for dancing as well.”
“Then let us be off. We may not yet be late.”
--------------------------------------------------------
The silver sedan screeches as it took a sharp turn down a narrow road.
“Host Dmitri! I’d rather get there late than dead!”
“Oh hush. I didn’t hit that silver dragon.”
“But you did hit that mailbox.”
“Which is why all Caisan-made cars are bombproof. There is the palace.”
Coming out of the narrow road onto a crowded boulevard, hundreds of people stood for as far as the eye could see down it. The palace cathedral is draped in white banners with green starbursts upon them, a sign of a new beginning. The crowd was orderly, many sitting in folding chairs idly chatting with those around them. The advisor in purple and the Speaker in blue exit their vehicle, slowly making their ways to the side entrance. Many in the crowd recognized them, making way and exchanging pleasantries. A little girl in orange roads and a silver mask engraved with a unicorn held out a yellow rose to him. Stopping for a minute, Dmitri knelt down and accepted the rose, uttering a thank you and smiling at her. She giggled as she ran back into the crowd.
“Dmitri! The bells are tolling. The music is about to begin!”
At that the Speaker tucks the rose into his robes and started to make their way faster through the crowd. Recognizing them, many in the crowd parted, allowing them to reach the side entrance. Slipping in quietly, Dmitri and Grant took their seats near the front, a place reserved for world leaders and friends of the couple. The large cathedral was beautiful and ancient, its stained glass windows showing not the beauty of the gods, but simple acts of kindness and mercy. One a soldier staying his blade on a defeated opponent, another a small series of pictures showing a beggar being picked up and led to success by a kind soul. No two people in the glass are alike, meant to show that goodness can come from anywhere. The sanctuary was slightly raised, its white carpet in stark contrast to the blue of the aisle. Atop the granite alter sits two golden chalices with a clear liquid within, part of the Caisan ceremony. Next to them sit a large red ribbon, part of the Galgi ceremony. The pews are of silvered wood with cushions. A company of musicians sit in the balcony behind the pews. Many cameras are set up around the room, each manned by a member of the Caisan National News Network. The wedding was to be broadcast throughout the world, though it wasn’t thought that many outside of Caisus and Galgistan would watch.
“We made it in perfect time!” Dmitri whispered as he and Grant slid into their seats. On Dmitri’s left sits a short woman with sharp feature. Her black, smooth hair was braided in the front. An intricate silver tiara adorns her head. A tattoo of a mountain and small Daeedic script adorn the right side of her jaw. Her piercing eyes bring Dmitri’s stomach into his throat. They had always disturbed him slightly.
“Queen Alexia. So glad you could make it, how are you today?”
Turning to Dmitri with a smile, she responds “It was a pleasant trip, though we did hit a storm coming up. Hopefully it won’t make an appearance.”
Almost as if on cue, thunder roared in the distance.
“Pleasant.” Dmitri said with a grimace.
“I hope those people outside get themselves inside somewhere. The storm is a nasty one”, the Queen commented, a slightly worried look on her face.
“I wouldn’t worry about it. They will get themselves to safety before the storm hits. Hopefully some will still manage to attend the banquet”, Dmitri replied with a smile.
“A banquet for the people? Sounds fun!”, the Queen said, grasping her hands together.
“It sounds unsafe”, the voice coming from over the Queen’s left shoulder.
“Sir Percival! I didn’t see you there.” Dmitri said as he extended his hand to the man with very sharp features, equally piercing eyes, and a looping celtic tattoo with a Sword of Andreka around his left eye.
Placing his rosewood cane at his feed, the Prime Minister takes Dmitri’s hand.
“I trust security precautions have been taken in their fullest?”
“Of course, Sir Percival, of course. Nothing bad will occur, I promise you that. It is merely a few rooms of the palace are opened up for whoever wants to come. The palace can hold a great many people. I hope the storm doesn’t interfere with that.”
Turning back to the Queen, but speaking to both of them, Dmitri continued, “This will be welcome respite from the occurrences of the last year. A war and an attempted nuclear attack would worry anybody. And even better, this is not just a wedding, but a joining of two peoples. The future is looking up for once.” Dmitri leans back in his seat with a wide smile on his face.
“It looks like it is time to start.” The Speaker comments as the music begins. It is simple and calm, a traditional Caisan piece. The melody is being played on the piano.
As the music starts, the Emperor and a Curator emerge from a door to the left of the sanctuary, followed by the High General, the Emperor’s sister, who takes her seat. A Galgi priest also emerges, wearing vestments of green and blue. The priest’s beard was well trimmed, and the lines on his face were many from a lifetime of smiles. He is wearing one now. The Emperor stood before the altar, hands grasped behind his back. His gold mask is polished to perfection. Instead of his regular purple robes he wore a military uniform on request of the King of Galgistan. His moves his gloved hands to adjust one of the medals adorning his chest.
“Heh. I can tell he is nervous.” Dmitri whispered to Grant.
“I am sure he will do fine.” Grant replied.
Down the aisle, the large gilded mahogany doors open silently, a duo of young Galgi girls in crimson dresses emerge, scattering red rose petals from large wicker baskets. Behind them, King Balbitos of Galgistan, a large man in royal attire with a gilded cape, walks arm in arm with the Princess. His bearded face shows little emotion, though his eyes betray him. A look of pride is seen within them, a happiness that can only be brought by seeing his daughter married to a good man. The Princess is wearing a simple wedding gown, the silk a bright white in color. The veil held scenes weaved into the lace of a happy couple holding hands. The sleeves of the dress are of multiple layers of thin lace, slightly obscuring her arms. She looks beautiful, though a slight nervousness can be seen past her smile.
As the girls reach the altar, they bow to the Emperor and he nods to them. Both turn and giggle slightly as they make their way into one of the pews. The King releases the Princess’s arm as they reach the altar, standing in the aisle for a moment, watching her proceed into the sanctuary. He then takes his seat in the front-most pew.
The curator, obviously a Watcher Upon the Ladder due to his mask bearing a face, opens a large tome. Clearing his throat, he begins.
“We gather here this lovely…*thunder roars and rain is clearly heard on the roof*, semi-lovely day to celebrate the joining of two people into the sacred institution of marriage. May the Host look upon this couple with favor.”
The Galgi priest than begins,” And may the All-Father look with favor as well. We gather within these sacred halls to join these two lovers into one. They will vow, they will promise, and who knows good Emperor, you may even get a chance to kiss the bride.”
A chuckle rises from the crowd.
The curator continues,” Let us implore the Host to watch and protect this couple from the evil in this world. May They allow them to always find common ground, to always find solutions to any issue, and allow them to find happiness with each other.
The priest continues,” And may the All-Father, in his infinite wisdom, grant them the gift of love and understanding. May He allow their home to always be a peaceful one, and may He guide them in the road of life to everlasting love and happiness.”
“And so let us begin the vows. Do you, Emperor Leopold Dawnweaver of Caisus, vow to forever defend this woman and always remain true? Will you cherish her and promise to be patient and understanding in any situation? Will you walk with her through fire and ash, cross sea and space, through any cruelty this world may throw at you?”
“And do you, Princess Roseamund Balbitos of Galgistan, promise to love and keep, to hold and to protect, through any sickness or poverty, any situation of difficulty that may come, this man?
As one, the Emperor and Princess respond “I do.” The priests than turn to the other and repeat the vows.
Once more, they respond, “I do.”
The curator opens the tome to the center page, both are blank. The Emperor removes his glove and presses his hand into the ink pad held out by the Galgi priest and places his hand on the left page. The gesture is repeated by the Princess, placing her inked hand on the right page. Closing the book, the curator proclaims loudly, “I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
The Galgi priest proclaims energetically, “You may now kiss the bride!”
Turning to the Princess, the Emperor stands motionless for a moment. He removes his mask and they exchange a passionate kiss.
The room was silent for only a moment, their shock evident. The shock was quickly overcome, the room bursting into applause. Across Enkon people of all nations watched as a native people of Enkon join with a foreign people in marriage. In the People’s Assembly in Heim, the Caisan delegates and Galgi legislatures sign the Treaty of Unity moments after the kiss, joining two peoples together in government and common cause.
Clapping, Speaker Bright turns to the queen, a large smile on his face. “I never thought I’d see the Emperor’s real face! I have to say I am slightly jealous of the princess”, he says with a chuckle. Grant hits his shoulder in a good natured way.
The Queen, after a moment of confusion, replies “You are homosexual?”
“Well I guess that is what you would call it. We really don’t have a word for it here. Either you love someone or you don’t.”
“That is a nice philosophy.”
“It is merely life for us here in Caisus. Life can already be so hard, there is no point in denying someone something if it doesn’t have any effect on anyone else. I hope to see you two later at the dance. It should be a fun occasion.”
“Of course Speaker Bright! We will see you there.”
---------------------------------------------------------------
Rain pounds on the roof as the guests move to the palace ballroom. The room is brilliantly designed, panels on the walls moving to allow for a perfectly even distribution of the music being played by the symphony on the floor below. The ceiling is painted with a map of Enkon, the compass rose a phoenix and the edges of the map gilded with mythical creatures.
The wooden floor tiles are each carved with a different scene, the dance floor in the center is one wooden slab, carved with detailed ocean waves. The guests sit at tables on the edge of the dance floor, and many stand around making idle chatter with each other. Traditional Galgi and Caisan foods are set out on a large buffet, though waiters also make their way to the tables to take orders.
“How are you, Mr. Junigka? And you, Minister Zakarro? It is a pleasure to see you both.”
Speaker Bright sits down along with Advisor Grant on the opposite side of the round table.
“We are doing well, Speaker Bright. The wedding was a delightful ceremony. Sad about the weather though, did the bride’s dress get wet?”
“No actually. We wrapped her in plastic wrap and carried her in. It happens more often than we would admit. The weather off the plains seems random really.”
“Similar to the storms off the sea in Athretvari. Very difficult to foretell.”
The foreign minister speaks up, “The wedding was wonderful though. Hopefully the music will drown out this racket. I fear the rain has turned to hail.”
“I think it already has.”
“I am glad that our nations have come together.”, Speaker Bright continues, “It will be a mutually beneficial relationship, I am sure. Even now oil wells are being dug, and roads are already being paved. Water is flowing in Heim and the Hanging Gardens will soon be a beacon of sustainability. And it is all thanks to generosity of Technocratic Realms.”
“We trust it will be, Speaker”, Junigka replied as he takes a sip of wine.
“Yes. If you will excuse me gentlemen, I have many more people to greet.”
“Of course, Speaker, of course.”
----------------------------------------
“Grant, I will go speak with President Lamar. You should go entertain King Yuri before he scoots off into a side room with those Galgi women. Host, do they forget they are married?” Bright comments as they watch Yuri speak with a small crowd of women near the buffet table.
“No need Dmitri. I see the High General is already making her way over, and I see Geniva is with her.”
“Yes, I see. Then let us be off.”
“King Yuri”, Ambassador Geniva Recart semi-shouted over the chatter of the women crowded around King Yuri, “I see you have no trouble making… friends at such a gathering.”
“Oh Ambassador Recart. It is always a pleasure. Like an overbearing aunt”, Yuri says with a smile, hugging a woman in a red dress to him, “I trust Unibearia hasn’t collapsed in Louis’s care?”
“Your constitution is written and your parliament elected. Your government is set up, though I do admit Louis does need some lessons when it comes to writing bills. I would like to introduce you to someone. This”, gesturing to the woman in the beige long-sleeved gown and golden mask, “is High General Kynira Dawnweaver, sister to the Emperor.”
“It is my greatest pleasure High General”, Yuri says as he kisses the back of one of her gloved hands. “Ladies, would you give us a moment?” The women giggled as they walked back to their tables.
“It is a pleasure to meet you as well King Yuri. I trust you are enjoying the wedding?”
“A grand ceremony, though a little posh for my tastes. Would you care for a drink? And please, call me Yuri.”
“That sounds nice, “Yuri”.”
Yuri takes the High Generals hand and leads her towards his table.
“Host help that girl”, Ambassador Recart said to herself.
-----------------------------------------
“President Lamar! It is an honor meeting you at last!” Speaker Grant said as he approached the dark skinned man in the well-tailored suit.
“Speaker Bright, it is a pleasure to meet you as well! How goes the reconstruction?”
“Very well, actually”, Speaker Bright says as he and Grant takes a seat at the table, “I am pleased to say that Heim has running water and the Hanging Gardens have electricity running for the first time.”
“Well that is good to hear. Caisan cuisine is very similar to the food in Onza. It would seem our peoples share the same palate.”
“Yes, I have thought the same for a while.”
“To change the subject, while it is on my mind, what do you plan to do about education in Galgistan? I have read that they previously had no formal system of education.”
“I have thought long on the issue, and have studied your work on the Right to Free Education Act. The Thrice-Blessed Parliament has been working on a similar bill, but it is bogged down in the Galgi People’s Assembly. It would seem half of them hold traditional lifestyle in high regard and the other wishes to change to a more Caisan lifestyle. Hopefully the issue will be solved soon. I don’t wish the Grand Representation to have to split up a gridlock so early in Galgistan’s history.”
“I wish you luck, Speaker Bright. It seems you have a lot on your plate. The size of your country has double, along with all its issues.”
“Thank you, President Lamar. Enjoy the party.”
---------------------------------------------
“Oh Host, Grant. How much have you had to drink?”
“I am fine Dmitri”, Grant says while sipping a glass of wine through his mask.
“Well it would seem you would fit in with the Tyvenians. I haven’t seen them without a drink in their hand all night. It seems they care more for Galgi liquor than Caisan wine. Let us go greet them.”
The Tyvenia table is covered in empty glasses. They are laughing amongst themselves as Grant and Dmitri approach.
“Speaker Bright and Advisor Grant! It is a pleasure to see you both this fine evening!” Legate Octavian shouted as they approach, raising a glass of wine in their direction.
“The ceremony was beautiful, Speaker Bright. I do enjoy the kindness aspect of the Caisan religion. The emphasis on general goodness rather than holy figures is intriguing. It shows yet another similarity between Tyvenia-Desolaas and Caisus.” Patriarch Aleksei said as he takes another bite out of a Caisan dumpling.
“It is a pleasure to see you all as well. I trust your trip was pleasant?”
“It went very well, though I do fear about getting back. This storm is very large”, Vizier Kray says, speaking more to Octavian and Aleksei than to Bright.
“I do have something for you, Vizier Kray. Something the Lady Archivist found. I think you will find her report interesting.” Speaker Bright reaches into a pocket for a flash drive that he then hands to Kray.
“Thank you, Speaker Bright. I will look at it as soon as I get a chance.”
“Ah. The dance is beginning. Well, I shall speak with you gentlemen later”, Bright says as he gets up from the table.
----------------------------------------
Speaker Bright steps to the middle of the dance floor.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come for the dance. I am honored to introduce to you, the Emperor and Empress of Caisus and Galgistan.
Guests look to the center of the room as the now Empress and Emperor make their way onto the dance floor. Some guests make surprised noises as the various wall panels start moving as music floods the room.( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31nOaXSeqSo)
When the music reaches its first crescendo, other guests join in the waltz.
“Would you care to dance, Speaker Bright?”, Queen Alexia asked as she approaches him.
“It would be an honor, Queen Alexia.”
They locked arms and step onto the dance floor, quickly being swept up in the waltz. Bright leads the dance.
“This is a beautiful piece, Speaker Bright.”
“It is, Queen Alexie. It is the Emperor’s favorite, and mine.” Looking over at the royal couple, Dmitri comments, “They look natural together. Though I am sure their nerves are both wracked. I hear the King of Galgistan is very intimidating. I am sure they will love each other. And you may call me Dmitri, if you wish. It would seem we have known each other for long enough to be on a first name basis.”
“I honestly can say, Dmitri, that throughout the hardships of the past few months, your mood hasn’t changed a bit.”
“Heh. Yes. Since I do not wear a full mask I must work harder to put on a show for the people. They need leaders who can deal with anything the world throws at them.”
“So even the partially-masked Caisans should not be challenged to a game of poker?”
Smiling, Dmitri replied, “Especially the ones without masks, ma’am. We are not a deceitful people, merely a shy one.”
“I am glad that our nations have come together in such a way, and that your nation and Galgistan have come together. Perhaps this will allow for easier recognition of native nations. But I digress. The wedding has been wonderful Dmitri. What comes after the dance?”
“Why the show of course. A theatre production fit for kings. An ancient play, Fiddler on the Roof. A rather sad and yet comical story from Ancient Terra.”
“And it is a traditional part of Caisan weddings?”
“Yes. I know not why the Emperor has chosen that particular musical, but I believe it shall be good.”
“Ah. The music is ending. Shall we adjourn to the theatre?”
“I must sadly go, I have other business to attend to. You and the Prime Minister enjoy yourselves.”
“And good luck with whatever you do, Dmitri.”
“Thank you, Queen Alexia. Enjoy the show.”
----------------------------------------------
“They look good together, don’t they Yuri? My brother has endured so much. He is truly an Emperor of the people", the High General says as she watches her brother from through the crowd of other dancers, straining her next to catch a glimpse as she and Yuri glide through the waltz.
“Have the people of Caisus suffered much?”
“More than you know. We may be considered honorless by some, but we only ever seek to survive. Though I enjoy your people’s tradition of honor, I must sadly say we do not share it.”
“Why is that, High General? Your people seem like a kind one, and yet one full of strength.”
“Your kind words honor me and my people, sir” the High General comments as they twirl to the waltz, “My people have suffered much. We lost Paradise, our home planet, to pointless hate and warfare. War does not do anything but bring suffering. I have led troops into battle, I killed men. Each man I killed haunt me. Most disagreements can be solved without violence. I would rather kill a man in his sleep than on the battlefield. It prevents the need for more death. In Caisan culture, honor is good, but too much honor leads to arrogance. A general that brings their army to crush a rebellion is considered more of a hero if the enemy leader is killed before any battle could take place.”
“We have that in Bearish culture. Dueling.”
“I am familiar with dueling. The only problem with that is that there is a chance of losing. That is a chance that cannot be taken. I can say I have killed men in such a fashion, and I feel no shame, only guilt. I despise killing.”
“But were those men not your enemies? Was it not their fault they stood against you? Why do you feel guilt for doing what is right?”
“I know what you say, and I understand your confusion. You think we fought our enemies, but you would be wrong. Caisan culture has no place for hate, only sadness. We never hate our enemies, for an enemy is merely a friend waiting to be made.”
Yuri huffs as they continue their dance. “Enemies deserve death. What you speak of is sentiment, a weakness.”
“Sentiment is what makes us human. You call your soldiers warriors. Caisans are never warriors, only soldiers. We do not live to fight. We only ever fight to live. You must learn what that means if you intend our nations to become closer.”
“I do understand what you say. What was Paradise like?”
“A land of eternal peace. A land where all problems had been abolished. A land where all were friends. Sadly, men were envious. Caisus had defeated and befriended all former enemies. A planet sized empire was our reward. And yet our demise came at the hands of a rot within the other nations of Paradise. Those who somehow thought that taking from others would further themselves, and they turned their gaze to Caisus, the one people who served as the link between all peoples of Paradise. Striking at us led to distrust, distrust led to war even as my people sought to find peace.” The High General’s voice swallows as she relives the horrors. “Atrocities were committed by all sides, yet somehow my people, completely innocent, were condemned for all of them. I watched nations burn. I saw the atmosphere catch fire as we fled the planet. The eternal darkness that always lurked at our borders surged forward across the world, untamed hatred and greed. Even the sun died in the wake of such horrors… I am sorry Yuri. I must sit down.”
Yuri guides her back to her table, a look of shock and surprise evident on his face.
“I am sorry Yuri. I think I must retire for the evening.”
“Of course, High General. I understand. I hope you feel better, I do wish to speak with you again soon.”
“We will Yuri. You enjoy the show, I will contact you soon.”
--------------------------------------------------
The Emperor guides the Empress out onto the open veranda. It is bare, and a small balcony overlooks it.
"It has stopped raining. It is actually a rather nice night", the Emperor says as he looks up at the clear sky. The moon is full and tinted red. Turning to the now Empress he says as he clasps his hands together, "So. We are married.”
“It would seem so, my Emperor.”
“Please, call me Leo.”
“I am Rose.”
“Well Rose, would you care for a private dance?”
“That sounds nice, Leo.”
“I’ve got you, Leo!” Bright says, emerging onto the veranda with a violin. Grant follows closely, pushing a piano.
Chuckling, Leo says, “You always had a grand sense of timing Dmitri. Shall we begin?”
Dmitri and Grant begin playing, not as well as the professional orchestra, but well. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UckpA9g4y8M)
From atop the balcony, a figure sits watching looking down. King Balbitos swirls wine in a glass as he watches his daughter dance. He smiles.
“Perhaps I did make the right decision. Our nations are one, as are our families. Oh, All-Father. Please watch over my daughter and her new husband. Please bring them happiness. Please help Caisus and Galgistan.” He brings his hand up to his ear as his ear bud-phone began to ring.
“The treaties are signed, my King. Caisus and Galgistan are now one.”
“Good”, he whispers, “All will be well, I am sure of it.” He ends the call, sits back, and watches the dance.

The Awakening Pt.1

Postby Vvarden » Fri Aug 01, 2014 3:26 pm

(OOC: The Awakening is From Deepest Fathoms from a different point of view.)

The High Chancellor sat down in his blue robes and sighed.
"What is wrong Teebai-Eei?" Came the voice of his wife over the intercom
"Nothing to concern you, thanks." He replied back.
He could almost sense his wife's discontent.
"You've been thinking about the surface again haven't you?" She said as if thinking was as barbaric as, say, infanticide.
The Chancellor sighed.
"We haven't returned to the surface in over two thousand years, the planetoid probably didn't even hit us." He said.
"The Elders predicted that it would destroy our atmosphere for millions of years, who are you to judge them?" His wife said. The words stung him like a thousand bees.
He had no reason to challenge the Elders, the wisest and most respected of their race. To do so is treason, and treason is punished by death.
But he had longed to see the mountains of the legends, the grass that grew on the surface, the sky, the endless ceiling, as the stories had told, the yellow ball that stood in the sky and rotated, providing day and night, warmth and pleasure, such magic that he would never encounter, at least not his generation.
All of a sudden, the door to his office opened and Chancellor Laria walked in.
"I am sorry, my wife, but I must leave you for another time." He spoke into the intercom, and addressed the Chancellor.
"High Chancellor."
"Yes?"
"Time for the Summoning."
The High Chancellor stood up and walked out of the room, hairless tail swishing erratically. He had never liked the Summoning. The Summoning was a daily event, a meeting of sorts, between the Elders, the people and the Chancellors.
He continued his stroll out of the room, when the thoughts of the Surface appeared in his head. He shook them off and continued on his way to the Chamber.

Kilometre 14, Polis Ost-Tundra Highway
A small squad of soldier is moving east, past the barricade that divide the safe zone and the frontier. A caravan that is due to arrive this morning never come and they are already expecting the least. At least if they got killed already, the mutants will not take the stuff they are carrying. Or if they are not killed yet, they can get them caravan boys home to their mothers, wives and children.

Squadron 4, shortly after leaving the wall.

It's always how they think.

Being optimistic is very important in this goddamn frozen hellhole, even if the optimistic part is very small, you can barely feel it. It gives the men a little hope, at least, something to actually hold on to when everything is almost lost. Non of the lost caravan ever returned nowadays and the few that made it come back dying. The worst one come back with nothing but a horse, not even a human.

Sgt Mosin knows this can be their last mission. He take a last glance on the glorious city wall, remembering all the sweet memories of his loving wife and family, before sighing and walking off to the unknown.

Death's Charge Pt.4 (Last part of Death's Charge)

Postby Northern Unibearia » Fri Aug 01, 2014 4:08 pm

Emperor Yuri stands on what seems to be a small elevated stage. He wears his old Blue-knights armour. He looks at his army of 75'000 men with pride and honour. His right hand man and oldest friend, Captain Felix, leader of the Blue-Knights always at his side

Yuri takes a step forward "I never was really good at speeches, but I will try my best." He chuckles. struggling to hold his laughter he starts his speech.

"Here you are waiting for the Leader to make his speech about "honour and that we will win this together." most of the time the Commander will stay out of the battle and watch the battle from a hill, far away from the action like a coward! I am no coward.... So I will fight! The southern General, Gustove, has challenge us to a traditional battle on Death's Charge Plains, knowing that if he doesn't, he will lose Lycos without a fight. He is greedy! He is pathetic! He would risk the lives of his men to have his name on the Wall of heroes!" He pauses to catch a breath " We will deny him that honour. We will be victorious whether we win or lose. Whether we Live or Die! We will be victorious Because We believe in a cause. A cause that will bring freedom and prosperity to our People and LAND!... You are all volunteers. Brave men and women that chose to fight for freedom and democracy... Sort of!... But let I be said... Those whom don't want to fight, you not be scared! No! I give you this chance to go home and see your families! All you have to do is forward!" He waits for a moment to see who will step forward." There is no pressure on you. If you want to go see your families.... Do it now!" He pauses again looking. Looking for the first to step forward.

"You are our family! We will die for you and serve you till death do us apart!" They yell as they salute the emperor.

"Why are you saluting me! You are the warriors! You deserve to be saluted! Not me. For you are the ones that will fight and die for an Ideal that there can be a better Unibearia... A better world if we fight for It!.... Now lets kill some southern Scum!"

The men cheer as he puts on his helm. As he leads the march, he remembers the first time he had fought on Death's Charge plain's when he was in the Imperium Military serving his under the command of his grand father, Geramie Laporte. He knows exactly what to do. But he worries that he won't have enough men.

They march for hours in the mud and rain. The first rays of morning give the clouds in the sky a vibrant purple colour. Men slip and fall in the mud they make their way up the last hill the sound of war clouds the air. Confusion and curiosity fills their minds instinctively as they climb the last hill. The clash of swords and shields fills the air as they get closer to the top. As Yuri Makes it to the top of the hill he sees that the reinforcements from Army Group North are combating the Southern army of 150'000 Imperial Guards.

Soldiers in Imperial Armour and Northern Militia Armour litter the field. The field is painted with blood. Death had excepted the invitation also.

"How could there be that many Imperial Guards?" Yuri wonders.

He sends his 20'000 elite first to rush down and support the already engaged Northern Soldiers. He then Sends 50'000 men to cover the flanks and another 15'000 to the centre.

"CHARGE!" Yuri yells.

He rides his horse as fast as he can. The scent blood Awakens his senses . He pulls out his sword from its Gold Lined Scabbard just His horse trips over a body. He and his horse tumble and roll and eventually Yuri get's knocked out by a rock hitting his helm.

A small group of men pick him up bring him to the top of the hill where Dinaka is waiting to treat any injured men. Blood leaks from his helm as They put him on a cot and stay and act as the Generals body guard.

Meanwhile on the battle field....

Captain Felix takes command of the Army. He orders his men to circle around the southern Army to cut them off from escape. Blood flies through the air as swords cut into flesh and bone. Men scream for their families. He looks to his left and see's an Imperial guard that got his arm cut off. He cries to Felix to end his misery. Felix unsheathes his sword and cuts the guards other arm clean off with a foreswing. "You should have changed sides when you could." As he screams, Blood sprays out of his open wound. Felix kicks him on the ground and returns to the fight. What started as traditional battle turned into a genocide as More reinforcements arrive from army group North and charge into the south's rear boxing them in.

"BLUE KNIGHTS! TIME TO USE OUR PLASMA SWORDS!" Felix yells in his microphone.

Mean while back at the hill....

Yuri awakens in time to see a blue glow coming from deep inside the morass of men fighting fallowed by an explosion from a type 3 plasma remote explosive sending hundreds of men flying and countless others off their feet. "No!"He cries as He loses himself in the memories of the 3rd Tribal war.

The following day......

The 1st and 2nd New Toolan divisions fight the remaining Southern troops as the remanance of Yuri's army returns from the battle of Death's Charge plains. Only 10'000 of the 75'000 man army remain. Most are wounded from the explosion. Yuri is blind in his right eye and is lucky that no serious damage has been inflicted to his brain. Captain Felix helps another soldier walk... as do many others. Many have broken bones and open wounds. The camp is polluted with men screaming from their wounds and the smell of rotting flesh and Soon The southern Emperor's head will sit on a pike.

(The sequel to Death's Charge is "Death of an Empire")

Einkorn, Ajerrin - As Einkorn celebrates its 500,000th citizen, the newly incorporated city founded on the plains of inland Ajerrin is facing some serious problems.

Last month, Mayor Ricor Silorada (ACP) chose Roice Prelus (ACP) to Chair the Infrastructure Council. Prior to moving to Einkorn, Mr. Prelus was Vice President of Brick9, a large multi-faceted construction company from East Ajerrin.

In the past ten years, Brick9 has faced countless corruption and hazardous waste violations and many in the industry considered Mr. Prelus to be the power behind the desk. While Prelus was never convicted personally for anything Brick9 faced, his reputation has certainly been less than sparkling.

The majority of the population that have immigrated to Einkorn have been farmers and laborers from Lahui and Errinsland, many whom were promised work to build and run urban agricultural centers. However, in the past year the majority of what was constructed revolves around high rise towers that lack any agricultural integrity, angering many Greens.

Across from the City Council building lies Trinah Park. The beautiful green lands have been taken over by a grassroots organization called GreenPlains. The group lacks a leader but many are protesting the City's desire to consistently work with conservatives and their corrupt corporate allies.

In March the protesters numbered in the dozens and gained little traction. After the recent appointment of the Frist Group to build a city center plaza that lacks any agricultural supports the park now holds a little over two thousand protesters.

While Mayor Silorada downplays any seriousness to the issue, it looks like trouble is going to stay in Einkorn unless things change soon.

For: Personal Diplomatic Correspondence
Re: Research Information

Dear Szymahn,

Your letter came at the best of times! I was invited to present the past two years of research at the 2660 Annual Meeting of the UFA Seismological Society in Rollingston, East Ajerrin. According to the study (as I'm sure you're up-to-date on your knowledge of fault lines) the oldest sections of transform faults - the Central Continental Plates or the West African Plate for example - produce the largest earthquakes, putting important limits on the potential seismic hazard for less mature parts of fault zones. We have found that maximum earthquake magnitude scales with the maturity of the fault. Needless to say, the LaFlourie Merlot 05 was popped.

As for the real order of business...

1) If we are looking at a nation of people that we suspect not of this planet, but of a far off world away from our habitable species, we can look towards two powerful space traveling nations for guidance. An old friend of mine has traveled to Nova Arkedes with the new UFA delegation and could be a contact point for us. I will contact him in the morning to inquire.

2) It is interesting for you to note there were non-royal factions in the Tyvenia before the current oligarchy-form of government took place. .What houses are still present but lack any power and what keeps their houses oppressed? How long have they been out of power? Are they political? This sounds like a movie-plot!

3) The Grand Dominion was present during the Great Nuclear Wars on Siberiae with the non-native Enkonian states of the Technocratic Realms, the UFA (then an Empire), the Republic of Mare Solis and others. The UFA arrived over 600 years ago along with much of the Grand Dominion. Their native Dominion nations however (The Hutts, the Aeon Illuminate for sure) could have some history of Enkon that is hidden and we lack knowledge of at the present time.

5) It is amazing that a country, while not pacifist by any means, lacks military technology so simple as a rocket. There happen to be several nations on Enkon who lack a significant military and space presence - many of them 'native' in their beliefs. It also amazes me that after 600 years after New Hope in Ajerrin, Maria in the Technocratic Realms, Midgar in the Socialist Republic, and so on were founded, there is still a hostile approach to these nations by the earlier, less technologically 'native' countries, despite a lack of aggression from these space traveling countries

Your talk of GMO cows remind me of the ancient Endikan Sulley that was genetically enhanced by Lahuian gene technology to taste like it had spices already within the meat. Lahuian gene technology has advanced throughout the years, mainly because the global herd decreasing each decade due to lack of resources. Its been three hundred years since the majority of Ajerrin people tasted actual live cow, while the upper-class eat the high-end Jersey cow and rare Endikan Sully whenever available.

I finish this letter sipping some of that Tyvenian brandy you sent over. Thank you! I received both parcels within days of each other. Apparently the liquors were held back for inspection and was sent along after they cleared customs.

If there's anything else I could help you with please let me be of service to you.

Dmitri

UTR AGREES TO SELL AIR-BORNE AIRCRAFT CARRIERS TO CYRELLICAN EMPIRE

MARIA, Athretvari - The United Realms will provide Cyrellican with three Szukxoi Tosstra air-borne aircraft carriers (Szuk-ACVN1) as part of a defense grant aid package aimed at boosting Teniik’s air security patrol capacity.

The deal announced Friday for the three used vessels worth ж13.26 billion (NSD 25.5 billion) was signed by the two governments via diplomatic cable.

"We hope this will help strengthen the security and law enforcement capability of Cyrellican and Muertla," Szamwel Tyno, a spokesman for the UTR Foreign Affairs Department told journalists at a news conference held to announce the deal.

The deal comes as the UTR seeks to build closer diplomatic and defensive cooperation with nationstates in the Southern hemisphere.

“We hope this deal will be just one of many that strengthen the bonds of friendship and good neighborliness between our two great nations.

Negotiations are still ongoing concerning the final location of refurbishment work meant to bring the twenty-year old aircraft carriers upto speck. Rumors are that the UTR is pushing for part of the work to be performed in Cyrellican as a way of building Teniik’s domestic defense and aviation industries. The program could also lead to enhanced military cooperation between the countries as Cyrellican would be well positioned to help logistically with Szuk-ACVN1 in the future.

The first of the Tosstras is expected to be delivered within six RP months (14 RL days) or sooner if the refurbishing work is performed in Cyrellican.

Rising Tensions of Desolaas

Postby Tyvenia » Sat Aug 02, 2014 10:08 am

For the first time in months Vizier Kray was at the ancient estate, now Guile Aspect Council Headquarters, where his office was located. At first, the Council had ordered updates to his office. Then they moved progressively from sending him on missions in foreign locales to simply ignoring his messages. For the last two weeks the Council had just refused to see him at all. So, when he received a call ordering him back to the mansion, he was surprised. Then concerned to learn that they wanted him to bring along his briefing documents.

It didn't necessarily mean anything bad: His recent briefings had been transmitted to the Council. It was most likely that they simply wanted to discuss one of those issues. Even considering their recent attitude toward Kray, it was unlikely anything drastic would occur. His position was constitutionally protected, and his occupation of it was hereditary and any extended family he had who might have a lawful claim had long since been killed. The Council had Kray personally attend to their executions.

On his actual arrival, the Council's Seneschal, informed Kray that he had some downtime prior to the meeting, so Kray made the climb to his office on the third floor. Consistent with many aspects of the old Desolaan traditions, no autolifts had ever been installed in the building. Most of the government buildings were like that -- except for those in the city of Democratia. Its name wasn't the only heavy-handed political message from that city.

Its unique brand of popular politics had ensured that no one, for any reason whatsoever, would be denied access to its halls of power. It was the common analysis from the oligarchs, however, that Democratia's, almost comical, absence of power and authority stemmed from its overspending on popular items. "Everyone is an equal in Democratia" went the cliché, "no money or power anywhere in the region." Still the oligarchs embraced its rebelliousness because it gave people all over Tyvenia-Desolaas a way to act on their frustrations without clamoring for real change. As long as it remained that way, the oligarchs were happy to spend nearly 20% of their budgets on supporting the ridiculous demands of the people in the region.

Kray's focus was repeatedly directed towards the plight of Democratia these days, but then it was always that way this time of year, when their parliament formed for debate and legislation. The city-state was demanding more money from the oligarchs. What little discussion he had with the Guile Council, it seemed likely to agree, in return for certain considerations. They had not yet been dictated back to the parliament, but it was likely to include mandatory conscription and allowing to the other non-oligarchs across Tyvenia-Desolaas to vote on their petitions.

Politics annoyed Kray, but it was part of his job. The major part of it. Other than his assassination of their Caisan informant a few weeks earlier, nearly all of his time over the past couple of years had been spent in diplomatic or political roles. Most recently, he and the other Councils' XOs were in attendance at the Caisus's wedding as a diplomatic representative. He hated it, but at least it was an excuse to drink with Patriarch Aleksei and Legate Octavian -- not that any Desolaan needed a reason to drink with friends.

Unfortunately, The Caisan Speaker, Bright, had handed Kray a headache with that archive. It would be a surprise if the Council had not contacted him to speak about that alone.

Though Kray had many suspicions about its history, that Tyvenia was not native to Desolaas-Enkon had never occurred to him. Still, the Caisan archive had compellingly haunting evidence . Kray had enough problems to deal with.

Their relatively recent arrival on the NCON stage had spurred many changes within Tyvenian government. Their intelligence gathering, which had been wiped out a few months back had finally began to recover, but now there were concerns about leaks and the few messages he had received back from the Guile Aspect Council had suggested that a new, true Purge may be necessary. But to call on Jaysen's Sixth House would be necessary. It would be expensive, both in money and blood. Patriarch Aleksei's cryptographers had confirmed that the messages and payments leaving the Guile Aspect had indeed been to the Sixth House. It probably meant the Purge order had already been given and the assassins were just awaiting complete payment.

However, Kray and the Council members all knew that the typical process of Internal Generational Erosion had failed in its mission. There were few preeminent agents and the was a major gulf between those at the top of the Intel food chain and the foot soldiers below them. Even the second tier was in no position to strike out. Just a symptom of the failure and evidence for the need of a true Purge .

More than that though, the entire Council was concerned about the implications. It would cripple their ability in the short term. With the apparent hijacking of CLAW as Margrave Talon Armand's personal army, and his recent orders which reallocated entirely within Palatine Armand, all of the Aspects were nervous. Kray was afraid that the Legate would be unable to resist the pull to take his command under the Margrave. His friend had refused to even discuss CLAW or the Margrave with he and Aleksei at the wedding in Caisus. Kray figured -- hoped, really -- that it was an order from the Strength Aspect, but he couldn't be certain.

He was all the more convinced that the Guile and Strength Aspects were made up of the same people, illegal by custom and confirmed by written opinions from all of the Aspect Councils. He suspected that the Wisdom and Spirit Aspect Councils were as well, but given their passive roles and relative silence in legal and political affairs he couldn't be sure.

The buzzer on his personal communicator went off, "Vizier Kray, the Council will see you now. They've asked you bring the Archive from Caisus with you."

"I'll be there momentarily. Thank you, Seneschal."
