How have your views changed since joining NS?

Postby Othelos » Fri Jul 11, 2014 8:44 am

As suggested in the other thread, how have your views of the world/politics and your beliefs changed since joining NS?

When I joined three years ago, I was a right wing conservative. Now I'm very liberal with anarchistic leanings. Only some of it is because of NS, though.

And you?

I joined as a centre-right moderate conservative. Then I realised conservatism was silly, and I kind of continually moved to greater and greater extremes of right libertarianism. And here I am now.

When I first joined back in 2011, I was a weird confused Social Democrat type with some social Conservative views, then I was a Communist for two years. Now I'm basically a Social Democrat who's debating as to weather to move further to the Left towards Socialism, or just stick to the centre-left/Social Democracy.

I had an old nation while back, didn't know what I was. I just stuck with center-right, now I am a full fledging conservative. #Capitalism

Started off quite supportive of communism and optimistic that it might actually be possible if implemented correctly.

I'm now in the opinion that, like anarchism, minarchism and most Libertarian policies it will never come about in my lifetime (and probably isn't in our best interests) so I veer towards being a Liberal Socialist - the left side of centre-left.

All the Libertarians hate me :3

Also; I bother posting on the internet far less. Nobody ever changes their minds and so the same shit just goes round and round and round. Don't prod it in the first place and you end up a much happier internet user. This applies for all internetarguments anywhere.

I've only become more libertarian in my social stances, but my economic beliefs have seen little change.

Not at all, actually. I was already for center-left before I joined NS and has remained so today. Nevertheless, though, I do not rule the possibility that my political and economic views will eventually change, even if only a little bit, someday.

Exactly.

I've definitely received TGs from people thanking me for changing their minds, but NS itself hasn't done much to change my mind about anything important. My views have maybe shifted and I understand some things better, but that's what a decade of education and paying attention to the world around you will do.

Okay, so you do have a personal issue with the US, as I thought.

Being 'anti-america' isn't going to solve your problems. Even americans are tired of the military invading other countries.

I used to be Roman Catholic, a social conservative, and supported laissez-faire capitalism.

I am now atheist, socially liberal, and support much greater involvement in the economy by government and labour unions.
