Dude, spare me to keep on talking about her and the works of the Rand Institute... they're a bunch of morons. That's what all of those "intellectuals" in that institute are. They think that the U.S. would be better off being a capitalist anarchy.

I needed to know who was the author herself. What kind of vapid, drug addiction did she have when she came up with those books.

Anybody with a brain should know that an anarcho-capitalist society is just flat out wrong on so many levels. *nods*

So basically it's ammunition for edgy libertarians who don't really know what statecraft's about?

I see that Soldati has already summed that answer to that splendidly. :)

Yep, pretty much that's what it is. Rand's utopia was, literally - and I am not shitting you - a place where the rich would be rich and the poor would be poor and somehow the old didn't deserve anything and children be put in child labor.

Libertarianism is a gateway ideology for the return of fascism or stalinism at best.

Well, I wouldn't say Libertarians; Libertarianism has a more extensive library for me to make any sort of judgement on it.

Rand's arguments are basically an Oprah-fied version of Nietszche. She was the first Oprah before Oprah became a thing, being the creator of her personality cult called "Objectivism" and all.

I am just warning you before hand that this stuff is dangerous. Reading it will drop your IQ by 20 points and it will make you a dangerous objectivist by the end you finish with both books. Thus, my only warning is proceed at your own risk. I am not liable for you all's mental well-being at this point :p

So you would say that it is even more damaging than NationStates General?

Sadly, I believe so.

At least, while in NSG, you can at least argue the point. You can't argue with a corpse or with a book even.

If we're still shitting on Ayn Rand, I read about twenty pages of one of her books (can't remember which one. Had a light bulb on the cover).

It was most likely the shitiest work of political literature I have ever read in my entire life.
