Gave Homeworld a try. Lost my resource collector in the 3rd mission (but not the resource commander or whatever) and proceeded to get spanked in the next mission due to my fleet consiting of a few frigates and several heavy corvettes and it was impossible to build a resource collector as that cost 650 credits and I had 350 ;-;
And then I got spanked in a quick battle, where I had the upper hand, harassing the enemy's resourcer's with a formation of scouts and a supply frigate, but then they send a fleet of frigates and cruisers at me and my frigates can't defeat all of them, leading to my defeat.

I played HL2 on my computer. Nothing beats the computer experience while playing it (mostly because I also played HL on PC).

Yes! In August 2011 I was in game store and was like "I'll take this and this and this" then I saw Portal 2 and was all "... fuck all of these, THAT'S WHAT I WANT!"

You're playing the first game, I take it? 3rd mission would be "Return to Kharak"?

Try again from the beginning, if you like. My advice is that you invest heavily in interceptors. Scouts are fodder. Light corvettes are useless, and heavy corvettes only work against fighter-class enemies. Do not use them on frigates. Use Salvage corvettes against enemy frigates and capital class ships - salvage as many as you can to conserve your own Ru's. :)

By the time you get to the 5th mission where you're squaring off with the fleet that sent Kharak to hell, you'll get tech for attack bombers. Use those against larger ships.

Oh, HL2 is slightly tied in to HL1. It can pretty much be played as a standalone game. But if you want to know where the creatures at the initial cutscene come from and why are you encountering the monsters you are now plus where the hell did G-Man came from and why are you working for him you need to play 1 :p

I never built any scouts, just used what was given to me by default, and replaced the scouts with interceptors as they died.
Before getting smashed, I only lost one scout, but built 5 interceptors (two died)
My salvage corvettes died when I accedently selected them to send them into a fight and they just sat there.

I got them in the 4th. I researched it but it wouldn't do me any good as I ran out of RUs trying to buy a collector.

I'll give it another go. The first mission was so damn tedious though :(
