So I took another crack at Dunwhich, and apparently got it locked for gravedigging. . .which I thought was only a thing on NSG. I'm a little bummed, I felt like we had some good character interaction going on that one.

Anyway, looks like we're ready to decide, broadly, our next course of action in Brutal Dawn. We'll hit the climax sooner rather than later (no jokes).

Um, do we want to start up something else, as well? There was some talk of doing so a few pages back. Are any of those folk still around?

Either way, I think this group needs a burst of recruitment. There are plenty of players out there who like paranormal RPs, we should be able to scoop a couple of them up.

I'm sorry that I got sidetracked on the post for BD. I'm working on one now, due for later tonight.

Pity about Dunwich. Although I hadn't heard anything out of Morrdh in a while about it. :(

The best made plans of mice and men...

I got sick and haven't had the surgery yet. Better yet, there were complications that set in and it's taken me several weeks to get things going back in the right direction.

Nonetheless, I'm still here. I'm even putting together a special computer so I can post from the hospital.

Anybody else still in this? It's been a while.

Yeah, I'm all for trying to push this through again if everyone else is game. I'm off for the summer, so I might be a little more active after not really posting much since February.

I try to help keep these threads going. I normally check them daily and post as often as I can.

I am going to be having a problem with that for a little while, though.

I'm going to be going into the hospital tomorrow. You DO NOT want to know why, except that it is INCREDIBLY painful. I was supposed to have surgery, but the thing I'm going into the hospital for is preventing that.

I have bought a cheap but decent-performance laptop computer to use while in the hospital. It will come in in a few days or not depending on the security situation. Not used to this hospital. Either way, it's going to be a little while before I can post again.

The hospital sent me home the very same day. The doctors who sent me in prescribed some ***reallly like woooow man*** pain pills, and changed my antibiotics. Things are finally getting better. I went off the narcotics and back onto the over-the-counter pain pills yesterday. I had a CAT scan on Tuesday, and I have another doctor's appointment at 1 PM tomorrow.

Going to the bathroom does not leave me in screaming pain any more. There are still problems, but, trust me, YOU DO NOT WANT ME TO DESCRIBE THEM. (Hint: antibiotics kill off the helpful bacteria in one's intestines.)

I still check these threads once a day. I'm blocked, waiting for ANYONE to post. SOMEBODY OTHER THAN ME HAS TO POST.

Particularly, I'm amazed that nothing is happening in the BD thread.

I'm actually kind of surprised BD is still on-going.

Admittedly, it's not the longest thread I've been a part of (that was 2010-2014), but it is still up there.
The above post may or may not be serious.

On a side note, would folks be interested in introducing a new case or two? I'm finally shaking myself out of a lengthy, sporadic hiatus, and I'm looking for stuff at the moment...

Here's a new case if that's what you're after but I'm sure it can wait if you got any pending cases to do.

Case Name: The Gates of Hell

Site: 75 kilometres west of the Port City State of Docklands, former major Industrial City of the Imperial Empire. The location is within the Darken Forest.

Background Information:

The Imperial Empire collapsed by the combine might of economic and war factors that lead it to being split up into city states about eight years ago. However, even though the empire days are behind them, there are elements of the former empire throughout the city states, mainly through the means of military arms, public service departments, crumbling fortresses and ruins.

The Governor of Docklands recently received reports that there’s being an increase in missing person’s report around the Darken Forest sector. At first, this is believed to have being the result of wolves lurking in the forest, however, it is believed that there is something else in the forest. This was about 3 months ago when the first of the reports emerged. At first, a search and rescue team was deployed into the sector and they reported back something strange. When they began hiking into the forests, they could hear the nature noises such as birds singing, deer’s prancing about and plenty of game to be found. But after the first 20 minutes of hiking, it just became…silent. Absolutely nothing, not even the sound of a leaf falling from the trees could be heard. It was describe from one member as if time had stood still since there was no wind and it was like graveyard, no noise. Absolutely, no noise could be heard. However, as they continued to hike through the forests, they started to notice the forest was dying and it became a scene from a horror movie until they reached an entrance to an underground bunker. Upon discovering the door was sealed shut, the rescue team returned back to the city with the report and failed to find anything.

The governor decided a change of tactics and hired a mercenary band of hunters, soldiers and ex-spec ops members a few weeks after the rescue team came back. The team was put together after reports from hikers came back that there was something the size of a bear but with the common traits of a wolf was discovered. Shortly later after it was discovered, the group of hikers discovered the bunker door was open. A terrible shirk was heard and the hikers fled from the scene not sure what it was. The mercenary team ventured into the forest and decided to attach small video cameras to their helmets to record everything. Three weeks after they were sent in, a traveller came across a basket filled with the heads of the mercenary team members. There was only one camera still intact.

The small intelligence organisation in the city has revealed several things about the tape itself. It turns out the bunker was an old military weapons research centre used by the Imperials during the Imperial War. The air is toxic and gas masks will be required to enter the bunker. Next, there was a note made on the bear-wolf like creature, about 6 foot 5 tall. Upon further inspection, it appears to be a large wolf but with no fur of any kind, it has large eyes (very large eyes) that is blood shot red with blood gently streaming down the sockets, it acts like a demon hunting souls and yet, it’s intelligent and can hold a conversation. What it is, is unknown. The final creature is the most common found in the bunker and it tends to feed off human flesh and what appears to be cattle and sheep. The creature is like a naked human being but stripped of any hair, it’s agile, fast, quick, and intelligent and has very large eyes with white pupils and black where the white is usually in the common eye. Though, the creature tends to smile and can breathe in the toxic fumes that have flooded the bunker.

We have analysed a sample of the toxic fume from a game hiker. The toxic air is some sort of gas that is used to keep people awake at night but it also confirms that the gas can send someone completely insane. It’s heavily required that gas masks are used in order to survive the atmosphere.

Other Information and Evidence:

Farmers have confirmed they have lost cattle and sheep which have being discovered in the bunker, a number of the identifiable bodies found in the bunkers were missing people, and there have being the odd limb and body found in the forest which could be from the bunker. The large wolf like creature is still unknown.

Transportation and additional aid is being provided.

Mission:

We would want the team to investigate the bear-wolf creature and if possible, bring it in so we can study it and hopefully find a way to cue it. The last objective, we would be thankful if you can assist the intelligence officers by discovering the purpose of the bunker itself. The Darken Forest Sector has being closed to hikers and travellers until the threat is removed. In addition, we are supplying gas masks and we are supplying two intelligence officers to aid you. They have being requested to discover what was being developed that caused this to occur. They will met you at the checkpoint before heading into the bunker together.

Projected Hazard Level:

High: Toxic air levels, unknown creatures and unknown source of what caused it.

Isn't "clearing out the bunker" a bit beyond the scope of an investigative team?

Or do you envision something more like a hunter-killer team going in and blowing the shit out of everything that moves?

Sorry my bad. I've changed it so it does suit the investigation outline not the hunter outline. Again, sorry about it.

I'm interested in having ol' Metals take a shot at that bunker, too--and I'd like to put him in an early version of The Box for it. The Box is a hazardous science suit--tougher than a standard social suit, but geared for data collection in difficult environments (handling radioactive materials, excessive heat or cold, poisonous atmospheres, etc.) rather than war/killing. Normally, it looks like two sand-colored, 75 centimeter cubes, one placed atop the other, with a small circular piece of metal (shield generator) in the center of one of the long faces. Tools emerge as necessary from permeable membranes along its sides.

On the health font, the wound vac has finally arrived. Saw the doctor today. If things keep going the way they are, in two months, the bleeding cave in my peri-anal area should turn into a cave covered with skin, and I won't need surgery. It hurts, which is a constant nuisance, but I can live with it. The growth on my kidney also appears to have stabilized, and I won't be needing surgery on that.

That said, i woke up one day a little over a month ago and had lost feeling in my hands and feet. I still have some sensation in my fingers, but all I have in my toes and the soles of my feet are hot/cold and pain. This is serious. Earlier today, as I was diving to the doctor's office, my foot failed to move when I tried to move it and i ended up hitting the gas when I wanted to hit the brake. I'm lucky to have escaped a major crack-up. Needless to sat, I am intensifying efforts to schedule an appointment with the neurologist whose office was supposed to get in touch with me over a week ago.

Oh, and my favorite cat, the one that found me in a parking lot and decided to keep me, came back from the vet. They cleared up the ear infection, but he's probably got cancer. He's not eating and I'm not sure thatr he's long for this world.

Can I be depressed now? Maybe just a little PISSED OFF?

They found the cancer. My Special Baby is gone forever.

I spent three days crying. I'm in a better state of equilibrium now, but still bummed.

So...what about the RP thread(s)?

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. I work in an animal hospital, and have lost pets of my own. I know how it can be.

As for the RPs, as soon as I post the Trazien info we can keep BD going, and I'd love to put Roland into a new RP, if someone has one they'd like to run.

Hey you all, sorry for dropping out of touch there, had a little bit of excitement.

In a couple of weeks I might have time to RP again and my GF wants me to write down the ideas in my head so I have encouragement and everything...
