OOC: Sorry that I can't post pictures and such, but my computer is broken so I must use my phone. Also, I will try to post a map representing where Novsvacro is as soon as possible.

Niccolo Pinto himself inspected the ports of Vusetta and Finacio, where the first wave of 10000 men and over 150 armored units would depart. He even watched as the naval vessel NSS UNITED took her maiden voyage, a mission to ferry 900 men to Bridgeport, Connecticut. The army had been equipped with new PSS-22Ms (assault rifles) that were adapted especially for the street-by-street fighting that the Chief of Expeditionary Forces, Victor Tokavic, had anticipated. The navy expects a quick voyage.

And I don't see WER posting. :meh:

"What will we fight for? We shall fight for the freedom of the People. We shall enter a new era. An era that no one has ever seen before. An era of free thought, enlightenment, freedoms of beliefs and culture, as well as Cultural and Scientific Advancement. For those who still support the ways of the old era, the old ways of Imperialism, Monarchism, Superstition, and Racism, they must leave, not just here, but the earth itself, as they wouldn't fit, can't fit, and will never fit in this new era. In this new world. This, my friends, my people, my countrymen, and all human beings, is what we shall fight for." -Thys Griffioen, 1st President of Flanders-Holland

Near Haystack Mountain, Vermont, New United Republic

A squad of sixteen SpecOps soldiers are flying inside of Blackhawk helicopters with stealth capabilities in order to avoid enemy contact. They sit in their seats with their modified XM-117 rifles as they put on their balaclavas, gloves, and tactical helmets. They crack conversation amongst each other, "This motherfucker is like the devil himself. Killing the man he once served, and then say he's a loyal patriot? What a hypocrite. I'm just happy we'll be able to put him down like the rabid dog he is", said an operator with slicked back, brown hair. An African operator responded, "Don't worry, Bishop. This guy is as good as dead, for a General he sure neglects that we have small robots in the sky now." A clean-shaven, young soldier with dark eyes looks up from examining his knife, "He's an old breed, Ace. He's too blind to embrace the ever-changing world, and he wants to degenerate back into the past, thus is the ideology of the reactionary." Ace looked at him, "Look at this, political science major over here has got Haig all sorted out. Nice one, Joker."

The pilot yelled in back to the operators, "Five minutes, boys." The soldiers loaded their rifles, put on their helmets, attached silencers, and got ready to land. Joker put on his mask, and said "Lex talionis, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Retribution, a poetic justice of olden days, the thing I agree with most about those times."

The SpecOps soldiers roped down into the forest near the cave where Haig was hiding, and stealthily infiltrated the surrounding forest setting up a perimeter around the cave. They saw fire from the edges of the cave. Inside there were mumbles, showing signs of a conversation. A squad of guards was stationed outside, overlooking the forest. Ace whispered into his headset, "Pick a man, and put him down. The one closest to you is your target." The soldiers raised their rifles and picked one target each, "One...two...three!" The SpecOps soldiers each fired one bullet each, their subsonic rounds making almost no noise, and the bodies fell to the ground almost seamlessly. The operators breached the cave shortly afterward, and saw Haig by the fire reading a letter. He was alone surprisingly. The soldiers simply walked in, and Haig saw them, he did not react at all.

"I knew you would be coming...Rumors of my demise will not be exaggerated now, for they will be true." Haig said by the fire. "Can it, traitor! We don't want to hear anything from you." said Bishop. "If you didn't want to listen to me, then I would be dead right now. You want something, hmm? Self-gratification? A little boost to your egos? Hah! You're not going to hear me beg for mercy. I'm a dead man already, why do you think I had over three-quarters of my guard detail go elsewhere? The struggle is bigger than myself, and it's more than just my ideas. It is a national struggle to establish a real national government. Democracy does not represent the nation, but the naive and meek. Democracy makes a nation weak, it is its executioner, and the people are its jurors." Joker spoke, "Have you ever taken a moment, to stop and reflect, and think that maybe that's only your interpretation of democracy? There's a reason why democracy is desirable, it is politics of dialogue instead of monologue, it is a politics of the people rather than the politics of the elite."

Haig burst out laughing, "You morons! You say that, but you yourselves are the elite, and you adhere to a strict hierarchy and authority! Yet you speak of the beauties of democracy, such idiocy. Truly, it is." He stepped closer to the fire. Ace spoke, "No, it's our choice to do this, to be this, to be what we are. It's our choice! Not everyone likes authority, and not everybody wants to be the elite, and that is what they are." Haig yelled, "Don't you see it is people like you who should rule?! You are the best of the best! You are the elite, and the strongest should rule over the weak!" The soldiers raised their rifles, "In your sick and twisted mind, that's what should happen. To show how your logic is flawed, we're going to show you how your ideas lead to undesirable outcomes." Bishop said. The soldiers opened fire and emptied their magazines into Haig's body and he fell to the ground. Bishop walked up to the body, "You see, when the strong rule, we are absolute in our rule and care only for our desires, and ours alone. We are judge, jury, and executioner. Now, as your soul goes to Hell, you can see how that system is flawed. Oh, and fuck you." They all spit on the body and disappeared into the forest, as if they were never there.

Soon, Kyle Stoop, president of the Republic of Flanders-Holland, sent a message for the WER Secretary of Foreign Relations, Alexandre Altavilla, as well as the remaining congressmen of the New United Republic:

To: Alexandre Altavilla, Western European Secretary of Foreign Relations; and the remaining congressmen of the New United Republic.

I would like to dedicate this part of my message to Alexandre, as I declare that I fully support the Verona Accords, although Flanders-Holland WILL sell Boudewijn Island to the New United Republic, as well as erect a new statue in all of our Capitals to show the friendships between the nations who helped defend the democracy of the New United Republic against fascists. I would like to ask that for now, we'd write a provisional constitution for the provisional government of the New United Republic, just to be in effect until the Fascists are gone.

Niccolo took out his antique, Tin handled, barber razor that had been repurposed as a letter-opener. With the letter-opener in hand, he found one letter that piqued his interest with the black and gold lettering on the flap. In one quick motion, he sliced the flap off and tore through the paper. He saw a copy of the Verona accords situated in the envelope. He cautiously skimmed the document as if to reassure himself of his acceptance of it. He was disgruntled upon the realization that the rebellion would be over before the world could witness the military might of the reformed Novakian Army, which he had spent much of his reign modernizing. He felt some sense of loyalty to the anti-fascists, aside from his belief that their weak 'democracies' would eventually be their downfall, and so decided to join the effort to ratify the agreement.

To the Head of Foreign Affairs of the WER

On the Subject of the Verona Accords

I will give my support towards the Verona Accords, so long as the senior fascists that will not doubt be tried as war criminals in the months following the defeat of the NUE are prosecuted and sentenced by a tribunal with delegates from ALL nations involved in the war against the NUE.

He sighed when the prospect of explaining the demobilization of some 5000 men to his generals crossed his mind.

Vermont and New Hampshire, New United Republic

With General Haig dead, the remaining Nationalist Militant Front troops try to find some way to re-centralize the power structure. The internal disagreements over who should lead the N.M.F or the New United Empire has caused the Nationalist Militant Front to break up into factions, albeit they have agreed not to fight each other in the face of a more dangerous threat to the existence of the New United Empire. Two of these major factions are the Golden Dawn Brigade, named after the Greek fascist party; and the Codreanu Corps, named after Romanian fascist Corneliu Zelea Codreanu. There are other, minor factions which have agreed to work with the larger factions, or others such as Volksfront who fight for their own brand of fascism.

This has made the job of the Counter Insurgency Agency much easier, as the insurgents are no longer centralized or as powerful as they were, the New United Republic Armed Forces are now pushing into the main territory of the New United Empire since northern New York is now cleared of any insurgent activity.

New York, New York, New United Republic

The director of the C.I.A., Vernon Garner, spoke in a press conference today to address the death of General Haig.

"A few days ago, the N.U.R.A.F Special Forces executed a raid on the compound of General Haig, and with no casualties, killed General Haig. As a result of this action, the N.M.F has been ever fragmenting into smaller, more decentralized and disorganized factions, and this will make it easier for the war to end. The N.U.R.A.F has began pushing into the main territories of the New United Empire, and is currently eradicating enemy positions, occupied towns, and apprehending leaders of the N.M.F and the New United Empire alike. The fascist threat is dying, and soon we may have peace, in a real republic built by the people and for the people. I also want to say something else, this is a message to the Legislative Branch of the New United Republic Government. The Verona Accords, while meant for the government of the past and because of the sins of said government, are a gateway to the future of this country. I acknowledge that some things are brutal about them. Trust me, $1 billion dollars is an enormous amount, unthinkable to myself, but peace is worth that much and it will serve as a vector for the nation's re-birth into a new, united republic with its emphasis on the will of the people and democracy rather than authority and elitism."

The crowd stood up and clapped in response, but as the clapping died, a member of the audience yelled and pulled something out of his waistband: it was a handgun. "This is for Haig! Death to the Republic!" The assassin lifted the gun and shot three times, one shot missing, one hitting Garner in the shoulder, and the final shot hitting Garner in the neck. He collapsed immediately, the assassin ran out, and the damage was done.

Today we mourn the death of Vernon Gartner- a great man. As the new Secretary of Foreign Relations, I am committed to a new age of democratic diplomacy, where the corruption and imperialist attitude that resulted in the downfall of my predecessor, Alexandre Altavilla, is absent. Therefore, I ask the New United Republic to move past Mr. Garner's death, and ratify the treaty once and for all, thus ending the war.

With the Conclusion of this terrible war and the pacification of Fascists, as the basis for a mutual defense treaty between the People's Republic of Nicaro and the Western European Republic the free, sovereign, nation of Nicaro now implores their Ally, the Western European Republic, to assist in defeating a pretender Communist invasion.

The Western European Senate will vote tomorrow on whether or not to enter that conflict. If they do, you can stand assured of our desire to end the war with a victory on your part.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New United Republic

While a few weeks back the Legislative Branch debated vehemently about the issue of ratifying the treaty, they never really got to resolving that issue, as shown in a letter from the Western European Republic mourning the death of Vernon Garner. The new Speaker of the Senate, Neil Larson, currently acting as the nation's quasi-executive, stated this in a speech to the floor.

"We as a nation have struggled hard in these recent days and weeks, facing an enemy more insidious than we could have ever guessed: our own countrymen. It is safe to say that while they were highly misguided, they were still our own people, but these people betrayed the republic in favor of fascism and dictatorship and that is what sets them apart from the real patriots of the New United Republic. The real patriot does not seek to bring the days of old into the future, but to embrace the future and with it, bend it to its will. We as a nation are growing, we are realizing our mistakes, and the mistakes of our forefathers. Trust me, there are some parts of this nation's very recent history that I just can't bear to think was possible by a republic: supporting dictatorships, invading a sovereign country, cracking down on independent thought, and we wonder why so many people wish to start wars with us. We were heading down the road to fascism already, and it took a group of brave protesters, hackers, and a late president willing to head into the future with his head held high in order to show this to us. It was in front of our faces that we were becoming a monstrosity, and if there's one conclusion we can make from these events it is that the principles of old such as authoritarianism, militarism, hierarchy, and dogmatic fealty are not to be embraced in today's world. Today's world demands liberty and freedom like never before, like never before dreamed of by the fighters and revolutionaries of the Enlightenment."

"Today we must embrace our future as a democratic nation with an emphasis on the rights of the individual and the love of free expression, civil discourse and dialogue, and creativity. We must focus on peace and prosperity, rather than trying to fulfill the 'national interest', which really have an ideology reign over the free people at the cost of their freedom and critical thinking. So, in accordance with our new direction as a government, we are hereby enacting a variety of reforms in multiple aspects of government in order to liberalize the government, decrease its size and power, and promote critical thinking in our educational systems. I would also like to say, that I hereby declare voting for the ratification of the Verona Accords. We must respect the wishes of the men who have fought against tyranny, and died because of their defiance to it, and I say that we ratify this treaty. In the words of Vernon Garner, 'it will serve as a vector for the nation's re-birth into a new, united republic with its emphasis on the will of the people and democracy rather than authority and elitism.' Let us embrace that saying, and carry on into a new age in this country's history."

As Neil Larson was standing there, Dozens of Cameramen and Bodyguards hired to protect both Larson and the Cameramen were at the floor, broadcasting the speech all over the world. Soon, the speech made its way to Bruges, and the rest of the Dutchmen. As the speech finished, Kyle Stoop made a short speech on the whole program of reformation in Flanders-Holland.

As the day passes, another nation finds freedom. Across the seas, towards the colonies of old, everyone who remains celebrate their reformation of their freedoms. As their men struggled against their brothers who wished to stay in the past, having to suffer killing their brethren, we must remember that we suffer the same thing everywhere. People who wish to stay in the past, people who wish to reject reform, stand everywhere. They don't see mistake. Refusing to fix their mistakes has been their downfall. Our history is a bloody and horrible one, in every nation, in every thought. As such, we must move across with the world. As the Americans in our old colonies of New Flanders, no matter if they're our distant Amerikaanse Reiziger, who were the first foreigners into the area; or the British Americans who refuse to give up their culture, but accept freedom; or the Yankees who fought for their freedom, as well as wished to be distant from Tyrants, to the modern-day foreigner, wishing to escape tyranny like their fellow man; as they celebrate their new-found freedom, we must remember the sacrifices that we take each day, to pull the Verledenvolk out of the past, and into the future.

As Kyle Stoop finished his speech, the war flag was lowered, and in all Dutch homes, no matter if they're the Afrikaanse Boer, or the Amerikaanse Reiziger, or a Mainlander, Dutch flags were raised, and they sang their regional anthems.

Even though seeing the end of the war in the following weeks, and the fascist threat seemingly weakened, Niccolo stayed resolved to bring glory to the formerly pacifist Novakian military.

Aboard 7 transports, 3000 men and a separate armor brigade of 100 tanks, with 30 self-propelled guns landed in the port of New Haven, Connecticut. The commander of the armor took an almost direct route to Northern Massachussets, while the army swept along the coast and into farmland West of Boston. Encountering little resistance, the armed forces drove a swath through NMF heartland, taking 900 prisoners. Most of whom were going to be sent back to Novdevie for execution.

The war advisory had indicated that transporting prisoners of war to a foreign nation would be looked down upon, but the Elector overrided them, declaring that, "A fascist is a fascist, it matters little where they die."

The only true resistance was by the Volksfront, whom fought with ferocity in pockets within the areas around the New York-Massachussets border. These resistors were brutally put down and shot by the Expeditionary Force. Around ten of the 670 Fascists were hung in display in Boston.

The Novakians made it loud and clear that they don't take resistance lightly.

New Hampshire, New United Republic

With Vermont virtually torn apart by N.U.R.A.F attacks, blitzkrieg attacks, and weak morale among N.M.F and other anti-government factions, the state fell with relative ease. The Counter Insurgency Agency has now been sending in D.N.S officers to maintain security in the recently liberated regions. Now, the final push into New Hampshire is coming to a start. N.U.R.A.F troops have been assembling at the eastern and southern border to clear the rest of the threat and hopefully capture, kill, or push out N.M.F troopers out of the country.

Captured non-commissioned officers and commissioned officers of the N.M.F, and administrators/governors of the New United Empire are being sent to New York City to be tried for war crimes.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New United Republic

In the capital, the voting has come in on the Verona Accords, as expected they passed with a sweeping majority, and now work was being done in order to institute reforms within the government. The Speaker of the Senate, however, was busy writing a letter to Novsvacro.

Letter to Novsvacro

Dear Niccolo Pinto,

We greatly appreciate your aid in dealing with the fascist threat in our nation. However, we would like to make a few demands, and would be really happy if your armed forces could appease them. We would like any administrators/governors under the allegiance of the New United Empire, and non-commissioned officers and commissioned officers of the Nationalist Militant Front to be transported to the custody of the New United Republic for trial in New York City. We assure you they will face swift justice if that is a concern. We would also like some aid in our final invasion of New Hampshire. We ask that your troops assembled on the western border and begin pushing inward, we will have several detachments of the New United Republic Armed Forces and officers from the Department of National Security to aid you in holding towns you have secured. We thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Neil Larson

The minister of war, a less radical member of the supreme council received the letter first. He reviewed his options with great care, balancing the treason trials that would ensue for him, with the welfare of the fascists.

He knew his choice wouldcost much.

Dear Neil Larson,

I will concede the prisoners of war in exchange for the editing proposed by the Novak government. The war department only wishes for a select few POWs that have committed war crimes against the Red Army and Red Armor within your borders, to be kept in Novakian custody, with a war tribunal deciding their fate.

Best wishes, Josep DeBett

As he finished stamping the seal and sealing the envelope, Josip began to hurriedly organize an amphibious 'drop-off' of all but a few prisoners. He counted the number and wrote the names of the staying prisoners

He anxiously stared at the clock, imagining what would happen to him when the Elector discovers this.

New York, New York, New United Republic

The prisoners that the New United Republic had captured were being transported to the designated court, which was re-purposed as the War Crimes Court. The roster of prisoners included defected officials and commissioned officers of the N.M.F. The crowd outside demonstrating with their newly almost unhinged freedom of assembly used it to yell and curse out the prisoners as they unloaded into the court.

Inside of the court, the Marshall gave the preceding speech, "We are assembled here for the trial of these alleged traitors and enemies of the New United Republic. May justice be served, and may this nation be saved." The people sat down as the judge did, and the court began...
