Where would you like to go?

This is inspired by a recent thread, so if it should be merged, let it be so*. If it needs to be put in Forum 7, see *.

Basically, where would be the place you would most want to visit, the reason you would want to visit, what significance the place has, your preferences as a tourist, etc.

My choice would be Istanbul/Constantinople/Byzantium. For the history of the place, much of which is preserved. It would just be fascinating and humbling to be in the presence of that history. Don't really enjoy traditional tourism stuff, but I love to go see historical places.

I have a very long list of places that include a large amount of nations.

One notable is South Korea because of its Culture and history as well as studying the customs of the locals first hand and 'mingling' so I may learn these customs myself. (Culture learning and expanding my language base)

Another is Amsterdam mostly because of its very strange and alternative style in culture and social constructs, I would be lying if I said I didnt want to try the space cake, the wheels of cheese or the infamous red light districts. (Having a Good Time)

Japan due to its culture and life style despite also being a Asian country it still has very unique customs and food. (Food Study, Culture Learning, Language Expanding)

Any-who that's some of them. I have a lot more but I'm afraid it would take up quite a lot of space.

Normally I would choose some exotic location in Continental Europe or the wilds of East Asia, but I've been reading an unhealthy amount of Americana literate courtesy of the great Bill Bryson, and I've come to the conclusion that, as an American, thus a resident of a very large and culturally diverse country as far as countries go, there are plenty of places within my own country that must be spectacular, yet I would probably never get the chance to go there. So immersing in any one of these more obscure yet fascinating corners of my country would more than satisfy my need for exotic travel.

I'd actually like to go to China. I believe it's a bit safer these days, what with the relaxation of Mao's policies, and I really do love the country's history.

Except for maybe like warzones and hellscapes, there isn't a place I wouldn't want to go, I think everywhere probably has something cool about it...except maybe Bakersfield. And Fresno.

But obviously there are some that are a greater urge than others. New Orleans, Kansas City, and Chicago for the jazz stuff (Congo Square, Charlie Parker's grave, just...fucking Chicago), Salton Sea because I like urban decay, Stuttgart Germany because I like Porsches (I've already made it to Wolfsburg). Le Mans, specifically around the second week of June. Nurburgring. Just...lots of famous race tracks, that list is going to get tedious.

Maine...I'd like see Maine. Movies have made Maine look kind of cool. Newfoundland, too. Norway, Ireland, see where people who had the people who had the people who had the people who had me came from.

A lot of old roadways I'd like to drive on. I've just about done the most of Highway 1. I want to do the Triangle of Awesome (note: No one calls it this): The Lincoln Highway to Chicago, Route 66 to LA, Highway 1 back to the Bay Area. The Pan-American Highway, I'd like to do that some day, too. Not that crazy ass road everyone's going to suggest that was on Top Gear and every other special on dangerous roads. Poop is hard to get out of seats.

Basically anywhere outside my boring home state is probably a place I'd want to see at least once.

Reason: I enjoy architecture here in America a lot but I love the architecture of other places mainly the Middle East which has seen some of the grandest and tallest buildings on earth. To simply put it I like to look at the neat buildings their are in the world.

Not sure. I never really investigated that area of Constantinople's history, although I figure it would be fantastic if there were any old Byzantium buildings were still around.

Basically all of Europe, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Cities like London, Paris, Barcelona, Krakow, Munich, Vienna, Rome, Copenhagen, Vilnius, Stockholm, and Oslo, along with natural wonders of the Black Forest, the Alps, the French Countryside, and more. Fr some reason though, I'm not that interested in Stonehenge.

Moscow. I love Russian culture and the city just sounds very nice...aside from the grayness and dullness many seem to speak of. Plus, I've got friends in the city whom I'd like to see.
Of course there are other places I'd love to go to. Most of Poland, Havana, Istanbul, Berlin, Paris, Beijing, Prague, St. Petersburg, Baku, Tehran, Sevastopol. So many places I'll probably never get to go to.

Iceland and Japan most of all, then probably New Zealand and Norway. Germany would be cool too, and the Southern Cone (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay) seems quite interesting.

My father was able to sneak in last summer. He said the place is like a living time capsule stuck in a 1950s stasis.
