THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
LEGALESE CITY, LEGALESE :: The World Cup 68 Final to be contested at the National Stadium in Legalese City will certainly be one of the most watched sporting events of all time, as any World Cup Final will always threaten to become with the ever expanding population of the multiverse.
The match will see the Vilita Jungle Cats square off against one of the tournaments co-hosts, the Free Republics - with both teams making the first modern-era appearance in the World Cup final. However, despite their status as tournament Co-Hosts, the Free Republics may be at a geographical disadvantage in Legalese City. The Free Republics qualified for the World Cup Final with a string of upsets against some of the top nations in the world, culminated with their Semi-Final victory over defending champions and World Number-One Polar Islandstates. The Free Republics marched through the knockout rounds riding the boisterous support of their home fans, staying in the comfort of their home nation and always having the comfort of family close by.
However, the World Cup Final is being contested in Legalese, not in the Free Republics. Logistically, that means that for the first time for the entire duration of the World Cup campaign - Qualifying and Finals, the Free Republics national team would be leaving home. Out of their element. Packing up their bags and going on a road trip. They couldn't take hundreds of thousands of supporters with them - many of whom likely were in attendance as the Polar Islandstates defeated Pasarga 4-3 to claim 3rd place. The real question is, will they have packed their momentum, or did they have to check it at the gate?On the other hand, the Vilita Jungle Cats sat comfortably in Legalese, where they have played all 6 of their World Cup finals to date and just a stones throw away from their own borders in the Atlantian Oceania region. Of course, Legalese borders Lake Bekk, the famous 'breeding ground of champions' - and famously the site, between Druida and Starblaydia, of World Cup 20 - the Nation of Vilita's only prior trip to the World Cup Final. It is also believed that early Vilitan ancestors may have had their roots in Calania, leading many to suggest there may be some biological linkage ascertainable between Vilitan performance and the location of their match. In addition to the World Cup 20 title, the combined Vilita & Turori AOCAF regional side was recently triumphant when the 42nd AOCAF championships were held in The Inevitable Syndicate - also in Calania, also on the shores of Lake Bekk.
With proximity in their favor, the Jungle Cats supporters will certainly be out in full force, and in number. Trains filled with Vilitan fans and painted with Vilitan markings were overflowing at the stations, departing hourly from Alikki-Corra and calling at Lopinka and Turoki City - although some trains were needed to go direct from Turoki, taking the trip across the Calanian Desert with care so as to not leave any fans behind. A World Cup Championship Game drought that had lasted 48 cups was over and there was not a single Vilitan citizen that wanted to be left out of the festivities. Legalese City may truly turn teal and coral for at least one night as Vilita take on the Free Republics for the World's Greatest Sporting Prize.
It will be the first ever meeting between the two sides, so there are no statistical analyses or patternist behaviors to study. Just two teams battling it out for one trophy in front of 83,068 fans in the seats and likely thousands more outside in the streets, back home and watching on big screen devices throughout the multiverse.
