The Premier saw this as an oppertunity to possibly get Masalia under the independence of the Moderates. He has allowed the SIU to contact the Bratislavian government to allow Cydonia to help.

CORNEAN FORCES - SOUTHWEST OF BESRAG

Cornean forces were side-by-side with Bratislavian forces liberating small villages that had been declared part of the Islamic State. Fighting between terrorists in these villages was minimal to none. It seemed that most of the terrorist fighters had withdrawn further inward. In some instances, Cornean special forces were dropping down on areas that were said to contain Islamist fighters, and taking care of them in a professional manner. Precision strikes were all part of the operations. They were of course in sync with Bratislavian troop movements. Everything was being done in a coordinated and careful manner and the relentless bombing of the mountains continued.

As the Mi17 transport helicopter landed on the grass, the soldiers riding unloaded. To their right were 2 NA10MS Tosha MBTs, another Mi17 and other means of vehicular support rolling through the field. Another Mi17 landed to the left of the middle one. All the men in both helos finished unloading and began going towards their objective, the Lollohian(?)/Masallian held town of (town name here). It was a rather small one, with the population of about 1,000 or so. Most of the men were armed with CXM-40 Assault Rifles, while Machinegunners were armed with M60E4s, Automatic Riflemen with LSW Mares, and Designated Marksmen were armed with the CXMR-40, which was essentially a DMR variant of the CXM-40 rifle. Hell, some were even using the batch of XM25 CDTEs that the NADF received recently. Fortunately, if the platoons needed it, reinforcements of about 260 more men were on standby in case the situation requires it. About 98 soldiers were attacking right now.The troops would follow the paved road, in the dense trees beside it. The orders for both of the platoons were to capture the town, and hopefully use the area around it as the main FOB for Austzelandi operations in Masallia. Both of the platoons traveled in a wedge formation towards the town, and the leaders of both platoons ordered their men to stop. 2nd Lieutenant Smill, the leader of the 2nd platoon on the right of the road, ordered his men to begin moving to flank the right side of the town. The planned type of assault was to be an "Envelopment" attack, a tactic once used and favored by the Germans in WWII. It sure as hell proved to be very effective in the Lossessian war that recently happened in March. The envelopment will be directed on both the enemy's flanks, and is accompanied by a simultaneous frontal attack to fix the enemy's forces. The deeper the envelopment goes into the enemy's flanks, the greater the danger of being enveloped oneself. This is why the Austzelandis have strong reserves on standby. Success of the envelopment depends on the extent to which the enemy is able to dispose their forces in the threatened direction. The frontal attack platoon finally made it to their position, a hill observing the town from about 450 meters way complete with some old stone walls for cover, lots of bushes and other foliage for concealment. After the tanks made their first shots, all three platoons would commence the assault.

About 20 minutes later, all platoons were in their position. Each of them had a tank nearby them. "All units, this is Papa Bear. Alpha-1-1. Repeat, Alpha-1-1. Raise some hell gentlemen. Out." The commanding officer of the attack spoke over the radio of all men in the three platoons. Sure enough, the tanks fired their first shots. Two of them aimed at some armored vehicles, while the last one aimed at a small apartment building, with military fortifications and everything on top of it. Most likely not civilian. Soon after, the platoons began engaging the hostile soldiers.

2nd Mountain Division, New Austzeland Ground Forces, southwest of Besrag

The Mi17 transport helicopter landed. Although the "Mountaineers" were not technically assigned to attack, they were assigned to link up with Bratislavian forces to conduct combat operations with them. The 2nd Mountain Division was formed specifically for operations in the mountains, and they did their job well. The men were armed with the same gear as the 2998 KWB, however most soldiers had lighter chest rigs with them. Nevertheless the used the same gear as them. About 15 minutes later, the soldiers came across the Bratislavians. Immediately he approached who seems to be the Squad Leader. He began speaking to him. "Hello sir, I am 2nd Lieutanant Oslo. I am the Squad Leader of this platoon, with 26 men alongside me. I should also inform you that more are coming. Aight?"

Mountains of Masallia
The mountains were a group of confusion and death. The Coalition bombardments had kept everyone up at night, but the faulty and lack of intelligence, as well as the constant mobility of small company and platoon units, resulted in just under 200 dead from the endless bombardments, bringing the death toll up to 1300 for the entire war. However, what was shocking was the endless civilian casualties. A "brigade" of what was allegedly MILF troops was actually a large group of villagers, lightly armed to protect themselves, going on a pilgrimage to a holy shrine. The attack on the pilgrimage resulted in 300 civilian dead and 1100 wounded. Further unguided missile bombings and blanket attacks of the countryside resulted in further civilian casualties, for a total of 400 dead and 1800 wounded among civilians.
The villages that the Bratislavians "liberated" were mainly of poor Islamic people who fully supported the MILF, and Sharia Law was actually fairly relaxed, since it was mainly manifested in having women wear scarfs around their hair, hardly cumbersome. The self-defense forces that the Bratislavians supplied and armed were MILF-sympathetic, and agreed to give food to the MILF, and to promise support in future offensives. The villagers were also infuriated by the enemy attacks on ISM "hideouts," which were normally food storage facilities or weapons caches, which, if attacked, was detrimental to the local population. Many were angry with the Bratislavians, who they viewed as civilian murderers, and dozens ran deeper into ISM territory to join the revolution. The MILF was now up to 28000 men, having been increased by the support for fear of Bratislavian extermination of them. Villages were emptied of young men and women, who were also allowed to serve alongside men, and Emir Uliakhov waived Sharia Law for those fighting in the insurgency. Lollohian funds for the insurgency, $800 million a year, meant lavish salaries 7 times the normal level, which helped allure many more people, who were suffering economically under the Bratislavian rule.
The aerial attacks were expected, and they hard their enemies pinned. When not using Stinger systems, they used RPGs and their rifles, which were actually decently effective against enemy aircraft. They kept up continuous fire, attacking here and there from camouflaged positions.
Another problem for the enemy was that the MILF companies hid out in the mountains, waiting for troops to pass by, then simply popped up behind the advancing army to block supply lines, recruit soldiers, and also take control of territory back from Coalition hands. The problem with the Coalition was that they were attacking an insurgent force using conventional means. The ISM had lost some territory, but it simply came back by infiltrating through the lines and taking area behind Coalition forces, meaning that they still controlled about 75% of the countryside, and 60% of villages.

Indeed, the insurgents were pinned to the base of the rocks, but the MILF troopers, equipped with dozens of RPGs, had no trouble firing at the A10s, which were attacking along a strait line, allowing for easy firing. Even more men continued to firing with their AK-variant weapons, as the order came to blow the Gulch and close the passage, denying the enemy the supply stores on the other side. Once the explosions were conducted, the MILF soldiers quickly melted back into the forest, still firing at the enemy aerial forces.

Ambush Forces, Fighting New Austzeland Forces
The aerial attacks helped the Austzeland forces little, since the MILF soldiers simply hid from the aerial onslaught, or "hugged" the enemy to prevent attack. The ambushes continued, though they fell off as it was decided that they should pierce deeper.

ISLAMIST VILLAGES - MASALIA

As a result of reports that some arms were falling into terrorist hands, the Bratislavian command has decided to cease giving arms to villagers for defense purposes. Instead, every village will be designated a proportional garrison to defend the village, and villagers are offered transport to Central Bratislav where they will be given food and shelter. Hallal Food of course. The Mountain Regiment along with Masalian supporters are advancing in other parts of the terrain and have been engaging with terrorist fighters who at times have been trying to ambush them. Fighting has been going on in the mountains, but the Mountaineers are making progress. Upon engagement with Terrorist fighters, they are radioing in the coordinates to Bratislavian Command, upon which the terrorists' positions are being bombed. The mountaineers are becoming the prime source of the location and coordinates of the terrorists.

The Minister of Defense of Bratislav, Gorgi Stokeshi, has stated that all villages and civilians are offered a safe-passage to Central Bratislav, where they will be provided shelter and food. If civilians are actively helping and sheltering Islamic terrorists, their safety cannot be guaranteed. The Minister of Defense has stated that the Islamic Terrorists will be rooted out one by one and that the so called Emir that has planned all this terror and destruction will be forced to kiss the Bratislavian Flag before being tried for treason and war crimes.

OOC: The forces that got ambushed earlier have been back at their FOB for quite a while now, but may as well RP out another ambush as they were driving back for the fun of it.

27th Mechanized Rifle Division, New Austzeland Ground Forces, Mountains of Masallia

The convoy was just 20 minutes away from the FOB, and were extremely cautious. Knowing the MILF, one ambush equals to more, stronger ones. And that was the case, as the convoy was once again ambushed. Again the 40x380mm and 7.62x54mm guns on the vehicles returned fire, as the men inside all the vehicles got out. Thankfully there was a somewhat medium sized stone wall beside the road, and everyone took cover behind it as the CFVs and Dozors continued their hail of bullets. The vehicles began to spread out, all a couple feet from each other and the soldiers returned fire. At one point, a Carl Gustav rocket launcher loaded with an HEDP round was fired at the enemy position. After a long firefight between both sides, the Squad Leader got on his radio and requested a Korongolese A10 strike. "Korongolese A10s, this is 2nd Lieutenant Vysok! We are under heavy fire from enemy forces at (coordinates here)! We already have 2 KIA, with 5 more wounded! Enemies are slowly closing in on us! Requesting an IMMEDIATE air strike mission on those Jihadis! Out!" Vysok continued firing at the enemy forces along with the rest of his squad mates, conserving ammo despite the vehicles containing more.

Islamist Villages, Masallia
The MIRF stepped up its attacks, and began using fragmentation tactics. After it became clear that enemy guerrilla forces were calling in air support, the groups broke up into 20-man platoons, and attacked the Mountain Regiment, which had for the most part remained about Regiment-sized. This meant that the regiment had to contend with dozens of separate attacks, happening simultaneously, and that each attack would technically have to be reported individaully, overloading the chain of command. Apparently, the Mountain Regiment was becoming a primary source of information, though this was hopeless, since the Masallian insurgents moved every day, and never set up a permanent camp, preferring to move, carrying goat herds with them. MIRF men left in enemy-held towns began agitating for independence, demanding referendums and secretly arming those who wished to join. Those who did then fled town to join the MIRF, which then planned attacks to retake the towns.
The "compound" attacked by the Bratislavians was in reality yet another storage facility for the poor villagers living nearby, and this meant that the entire mountainside was increasingly in danger of starvation. Luckily, Masallians were tough people, and negotiations were being made with Lolloh for humanitarian aid to arrive in the form of food relief for the villagers of the countryside.

Reports today indicate that the Bratislavian infidels have blown up yet more storage facilities for civilians, once again threatening the poor people of the Islamic State with starvation. Our allies Lolloh are hoping to deploy food to help alleviate this threat. All refugees are allowed to move, with ships carrying them to Lolloh.
In other news, Emir Uliakhov has requested a 7-day ceasefire to hold elections within ISM-occupied territory. Uliakhov has also requested the observance of a ceasefire for Ramadan, which is just 2 months away.

At Sea
The new Masallian Jihadist Navy (MJN) was booming. It had 63 fishing boats and 7 K Class boats, with 475 personnel manning the small flotilla. So far, the flotilla has taken or sunk 31 ships, including an Amastain ship that wanted to give the MJN and the MIRF supplies. The valuable supplies were smuggled away, and the crew of the Bull was awarded with $12 million from the ISM's coffers. The ship was escorted in by a single fishing boat, though the supplies were eagerly stripped, as the ship was bountiful. It had 2 tons of food/medicine, 200 FIM92 Stingers, and roughly 2 billion rounds of ammunition. Also quite valuable were the hulls for 4 AN2 Colts, heavily armed, an Mi2 helicopter, also heavily armed, and a midget submarine. The crew was thanked and given plenty of food, including such luxuries as couscous and hummus. As another surprise, they said they could rebuild an abandoned merchant ship near the harbor, as well as help build new aircraft. Sadly, it was unlikely that they could ever build the aircraft, since Masallia had very little industrial capability, and what was left of that industrial capability was in Bratislavian hands. The Corba, however, could likely be rebuilt. It was a hope for the MJN, which was being quite successful and was going for the best.

The MIRF troopers had by now given up on fighting and were retreating. They fired their MANPADs at the enemy aircraft, which were having a hard time spotting them through the dense woods as they retreated.

It indeed was a military compound and a safe haven for the terrorists disguised as a warehouse for food. After being escorted into the harbor, the crew was escorted into a small building. Inside was the Emir of Masalia. The crew of 15 were quite honored. After chatting with him for a minute, they then got in a civilian Ural truck, escorted by a few MILF fighters, and they traveled out to the Corba. When they arrived, the ship was listing about 11 degrees to the port. The tide was high, which also gave them hope. After they dismounted the truck, they went aboard and started to check the bridge and the engine room. After initial checks, the electrical system was in working order, and they cranked up the engines. While that was happening, a few of the crew went and shut off the flooded compartment, and started to patch the small hole. Simultaneously, they started to pump out the excess water. After an hour of work, the Corba was sailing again. She entered the harbor and docked next to the Bull, for extensive repairs.

The Ground Force
After the Amastian beachhead was established, a small recon force was sent out to scout the area. After about an hour of driving around, they reached a small forest. They stopped to cool down the engines and to drink some water. It was a hot day, and the men were thirsty. All but 6 men, were relaxing, and drinking water. They are all sitting in between the BTR-60 and the BMP-2. They don't expect an attack, but they are very watchful, as they were surrounded by hostile held area.

At Sea
The Mi-17 arrives on the deck of the ship. They land and once the helicopter engines cut off, the crew dismount, and stand at attention. The head pilot then walks forward and salutes the Guerran senior officer.

A small fleet detachment of 4 Fast Attack Craft and a Romeo class submarine patrol off the Masalian coast. They look for Lollohan cargo ships and MILF pirate vessels. The 4 fast attack craft are ordered to sin all Lollohan vessels and stop civilian fishing boats to check for illegal smuggling and pirates. Each craft has an extra detachment of marines for protection. A Golf II submarine is loaded up with 3 frogman infiltration submersibles (6 marines in all). They depart the Amastian beachhead and head for the MILF harbor, where the Bull and the Corba are located. They are carrying limpet mines to place on larger vessels and fishing boats to sink them.

The 8 Amastian men stood before Admiral Frensde. They were surrounded by 20 Guerrian navy personnel. All of them were smiling.

The Admiral spoke first:
"Gentlemen. I believe I speak for many when I say I am impressed by your actions. You could have cowered out, and take the offer to go home as soon as it was offered. But you didn't. Instead, you stayed and fought for what was right. Such actions are seen as heroic and brave in Guerro, and we all greatly appreciate what you have done."
The Admiral smiled. He was getting choked up. A few snickers and chuckles were passed around the circle. The Admiral nodded, and 8 men approached the Amastian men with a case in their hand. They presented the cases to the, opening them, and revealing what was inside. A medal."

The Admiral spoke again.
"As Admiral of this great Navy, I hereby give you theMedal of Grand Bravery and Dedication. Receiving such a medal is very rare, and only the most brave and dedicated to protecting the seas are given one. Please, take them with you. You all deserve it."
Just then, the Amastian helicopter had arrived, and started to descend. As the 8 men got on board, it seemed like all the men on all 20 Guerrian ships cheered.

Mountain Region - Masalia

Bratislavian Ground forces in conjunction with Mountaineer and Masalian fighters have made considerable gains as more villages have been liberated from the oppressive rule of the Islamists. As villages have been liberated, certain villagers have been giving up locations of some safe-havens in and around the mountains. This intel has been relayed quickly to the command center from which strong bombings have been taking place in the suspected areas. Many of the villagers only want their old lives back, they are in horror how their land has turned into a war ground once again. The Bratislavians have promised that elections laws in Masalia could reflect the conservative beliefs of the folks. Namely, an Islamist political group can be elected in the rural districts and Islamic laws can be established given it is in accordance with the Bratislavian constitution. (no sharia punishment, and so forth). Many of the villagers have liked the new redistricting of Masalia within the Autonomous Republic of Masalia.

Mountaineer forces along with Moderate Masalian fighters have been fighting Islamist fighters and chasing their paths constantly in the mountainous region. The Mountaineers have been using their guerrilla war tactics and skill of fighting in the mountains to pin some of the Islamists down. The progress and positions of these mountaineers is being closely monitored by Bratislavian Central Command, which is in turn sending helicopter/aerial support where needed. The tactic has proven to be very efficient in tracking down the safe havens as aerial power has been combined with on-the-ground, real-time intel.

150,000 Bratislavian Ground Troops have been put on alert in Central Bratislav. In a few days they will reach the mountains and reinforce the tens of thousands of Bratislavian Troops. 10,000 of this force are Mountaineer Forces. This comes as President Albanov is pushing hard to end the Islamist insurrection in the Mountains and bring peace once again to Masalia.

RNS Arlen-Burgun, New Austzeland Navy, Waters of Bratislav.

The RNS Arlen-Burgun was out hunting for Jihadist pirates, with various other Austzeland warships. The Navy had been assigned the task not very long ago, and were constantly on the lookout for any fishing boats, K class boats, and even an Mi2 helicopter flying the Masallian flag. The operation was classified as Operation Shark Guard by NAN officials, and just began about an hour ago. No kills yet, but surely there would be some eventually.

The operations with the Bratislavians were going quite well, with minimal casualties. Surely that can't be said for the insurgents though. The new CXM-40 rifles for the NADF forces was proving to be extremely effective against the enemy. One or two well placed shots to the torso area with the 6.5x39mm Caseless GP cartridge of the CXM surely meant game over for the receiving end. Although the men were taking orders from the Bratislavians they were with, some squads broke off and did some reconnaissance or other means of objectives.

Coast
What the enemy forces once again didn't understand was that the Jihadi Navy was unconventional. They had absolutely no intentions of meeting the enemy, and stayed out of the way from enemy ships and boats. The "occupation" of the coast wouldn't work, either, since the boats could stay at sea for at least a year (most were sail-powered) if fully supplied. Of course, they needed ports, but looting helped maintain supplies, so most boats could easily stay away from shore for some time. The main harbor was vulnerable, but Uliakhov had been evacuated, as had most of the plane and helicopter parts. Ships were scattered, and only a dozen or so were ever in the main harbor, the rest scattered across the coast.

The idiot Bratislavians clearly were still not understanding that the MIRF forces moved about quickly and freely. The information was often outdated and inaccurate, since MIRF companies never stayed in any one place for more than a day. Continued artillery attacks were still ineffective, and MIRF forces generally waited for enemy troops to move over the area before moving in behind to take back villages. This was fairly successful, as the Bratislavians were barely nibbling at the edges of the ISM, which was recapturing villages from small garrisons with loyal members. Most Masallians were not feeling the war too harshly, and the idea of winning a spot in heaven by fighting with the ISM appealed. Most of the attacks on rebel "positions" resulted in the blowing up of more civilian food stores, and several indiscriminate attacks resulted in civilian casualties, as well as the explosion of ordnance, which hurt even more people.
Contrary to Bratislavian belief, most people were barely affected by the war, which only required slightly less food for the locals. The hardcore Islamists encouraged people to fight the Bratislavian infidels, and the promise of free and fair elections should the war conclude even attracted some of the moderates. The fighters were still hiding about, as the MIRF force had risen to a strength of about 35000 men, easily outnumbering the Bratislavian Mountain Regiment, straining them heavily. After all, nobody dared move around and confront them, the MIRF troopers were specifically told to wait for enemy troops to move on before sprining back into action and taking back village, of which they now controlled 65%.

MOUNTAINS OF MASALIA

The Islamists were spreading propaganda about civilians and supplies being killed disproportionately. Such propaganda was being used to recruit vulnerable villagers to fight for a terrorist and dying cause. The Bratislavian and Allied Forces were tightening the noose around the Islamists's neck. They had gained ground in taking over many villages in the low-lying areas. Many of the terrorists had fled to the mountains, where they were relatively safer. The mountaineers were taking part in heavy guerrilla like battles with the Islamists and this was coupled with air support as the Mountaineers and Masalian informans/fighters were coordinating with aerial forces to bomb areas where the Islamists were fighting the Mountaineers. The superior aerial power coupled with the skill of the Mountaineer Soldiers was proving a decisive tactic as the Ground Forces were mainly concerned with liberating the remaining villages in the flat-lands and defending them from any further attacks. Around 80,000 Civilians had taken the safe passage offered by Bratislav to Central Bratislav. Bratislavian Forces had encircled the Mountainous Range where most of the terrorists were now hiding.

10,000 Mountaineer Troops from the South are coming up to the Masalian Mountains, where they will reinforce the existing Mountaineer Forces in the area. The Bratislavian Armed Forces has published the causality count at 1,120 for the Mountainous Operations.
