Not this again. You know, you'd really expect a fort to have better security.

Fort Hood's security isn't that good, despite being the US' largest military base, it's surrounded by a tall chain link fence and covers one entire side of a lake. Most of the barracks and complexes lie on the south end and the Fort is merged with the city of Killeen, all the rest of the base is wilderness that they use for training exercises and live fire drills. To gain entrance to the base all you need is a military ID, or a Texas DL, they don't search your car or anything [least not without probable cause].

No, they're not. Gun control is getting far less of a push nowadays than at any time that I can recall in my lifetime.

The difference today is that the NRA is stronger and able to keep politicians under more control than the guns. The gun control noise is always present, but we don't see any action in the political arena beyond empty promises as the NRA is more powerful than it was even ten years ago.

Just heard on the tele that a potential active shooter is loose at Fort.Hood no other details yet. The news did say authorities are looking for the suspect. A shelter in place has been given and about 20 shots fired in the motor pool by an eye witness.

I think it's becoming obvious that people(probably terrorists) are targeting stateside military bases, it's time we start arming our soldiers on base for self-defense, in my opinion.

Despite terrorism being a threat, you've got ALOT of soldiers coming home now with things like PTSD and aren't getting the correct treatment they should. It's a shame really.
