Semi-expressways and city express routes generally have lower speed limits of 100 km/h: in some cases the speed limit may be lower.

On some designated "fast through routes" in cities, speed limits are up to 80 km/h. Otherwise, speed limits are 70 km/h on roads with two uninterrupted yellow lines and 60 km/h or 50 km/h otherwise. Signage in towns and on expressways is often present.

Minimum speed limits on expressways vary. A general minimum speed limit of 60 km/h is in force at all times (although traffic jams thwart it).

You can also be ticketed for noise pollution, and will be arrested and deported for driving a gasoline/diesel vehicle.

We don't have speed limits, as such. We have posted recommendations, but they're non-binding - and highly variable, as our roads range from tracks practically indistinguishable from dry streambeds to highways with computer-controlled traffic flow unlimited by merely human reaction speeds.

Having speed limits would be outright un-Decepticon. You can go as fast as your engines and body construction allows, with only one caveat: Others will pre-emptively blast you if they think you're about to plow into them and don't expect to be able to get out of the way. Some will just pre-emptively blast you whether or not they could actually move out of your path. So if you're going to fly or run fast, be sure you give the impression that you know what you're doing, or else do it in some unpopulated area.

Also remember that the "laws" of physics always apply, so don't try to go Mach 10 over a city, please, unless you're so far over it that you're actually in space.

(Cars are banned here, but that doesn't slow us down. In plane mode, we can move faster than any car, and on foot, we can go faster than all but dedicated race cars. Being 10 stories tall and having the huge stride length that results from that helps quite a bit with running speed.)

Our intercity highways are dominated by road trains - semi-trailer combinations with many trailers that can weigh hundreds of tons. Other vehicles travelling on those highways are well-advised to travel at the same speed (and in the same lanes) as the road trains.

In the cities, the average traffic speed is close to zero.

The speed limit for all roads is the speed of light with increasing severity of punishment from highway to regular streets.

The decentralized auto-net (which is made up of all the cars in communication with each other) uses advanced crowd models and predictive algorithms to gauge the optimal speed for every particular vehicle at every particular time. Since most itineraries are shared (anonymously) between cars, and there are years of historical data to deduce from, the net can precisely predict traffic hours in advance, and adjust the speed accordingly.

Once the auto-net has determined the speed a car is to drive at (based on far too many factors to count, few of them obvious), it is on that car's AI to follow the directive. The auto-net regulates itself, and will penalize or summon traffic control on vehicles that egregiously violate the protocol.

(There are no manually operated motor vehicles in the Empire anymore; biological drivers cannot possibly keep up with the AI vehicles' safety record.)

The average speed on a highway at traffic is approximately 90 meters per second (324km/h, 200mph) at low traffic, and 30 meters per second (108kmh, 70 mph) at high traffic. The average speed in suburban areas is 20 meters per second (72 km/h, 45 mph). Cars do not drive in inner city areas, and congestion or traffic jams are basically unheard of.
