IATA: NIA
ICAO: GNIA

Operator: Dictator and Cabinet of Great Nepal
Serves in: Great Nepal
Location: 5 meters outside of capital city, Kathmandu. (Towards the South East)

Nepal International Airport
Image
Construction: Four floors above ground and one below with the total space of 496,000 square meters (1.06 kilometers long x 149 meters wide x 33 meters high).

The first floor of the each Terminal, with Millennium Hall at its center, has a baggage-claim area and a customs area for arriving passengers. The airport features many convenient facilities and information counters for greeters and passengers. Shops include fast food stores, coffee shops, flower shops, photo shops and foreign exchange booths. Information counters help people to easily get information on the airport, buses, hotels, car rentals, and delivery services. The NAET (Nepal Airport express train is also available from this floor.

The immigration and quarantine areas for arriving passengers are located on the second floor for each terminal. Also on the second floor are offices of fixed based operators in the airport, such as airline companies. A coffee shop on this floor has a more quiet and relaxing atmosphere than those on the first, third and fourth floors. Passengers can easily access the Internet at the Internet Center next to the coffee shop.

The center part of the third floor in each terminal has ticket counters of each airline and houses specialty retail stores for clothes, souvenirs, sportswear and stationery. Stores for luggage wrapping, courier services, foods and beverages, and convenience stores are also here. The outer section of the third floor has facilities such as security inspection, departure immigration, waiting room, and lounge for departing passengers. Restaurants, coffee shops, duty free shops and foreign exchange booths are also located on the outer portion.

The fourth floor on each terminal houses only shops and amenities for passengers. Food and beverage shops on this floor provide a various selection of menus. There are also restaurants operated by Great Nepal's top-class hotel and buffet restaurants. Tables and chairs are prepared in areas with a fine view so that passengers can relax in a comfortable atmosphere. This floor also includes airlines’ VIP lounges and transfer/transit lounges. For transit and transfer passengers staying at the airport for long hours, facilities such as massage/shower room, prayer room, and transit hotel are provided at the east and west end of the fourth floor.

The U1 floors of the every Terminal Building provides passengers with amenities, such as a cafeteria, bank, convenience store, record shop, bookstore and sauna. The sauna, which is open 24 hours a day, can be a good resting place for passengers who have to stay one night at the airport. Its price is affordable compared to other accommodations in the airport. The food court has great restaurants operated by the best hotels in Great Nepal. The overall price in the food court is cheaper compared with the restaurants on the fourth floor.

Security:-
Security is a highest priority in Nepal International Airport, thus the security is very tight at all times. There are following security measures currently at Nepal International Airport, although any security regulations can be halted for any airline on the request by the airline, it is not advised as it would mean that the airline themselves shall be responsible for any terrorist attacks on aircraft. It can work other way round too. The airline can request any more security for there flights, and it shall be granted with no problems or costs. On normal situations, the following security is used in Nepal International Airport.
1. 24/7 Patrol by highly experienced police force.
2. Bomb/Drug/Ammunition Sniffing Dogs on 24/7patrol.
3. Backscatter X-ray
4. Infrared Machine
5. CCTV's with sound recorder and face recognition system everywhere.
6. Armed Security Guards.
7. Security Check by the Centurion Federal Police & the SS.
8. Metal Detectors placed in every gate.
9. 4 Bag scans.
10. Body check by police officers/ SS while boarding the plane.

Hangers.
Although only 40 Hangers were part of the real plan of the airport, latter builders of the airport decided that a lot more hangers can be added to the airport, as a lot of flat land was available readily in the outskirts of the capital. Thus finally 100 hangers were made, due to this the opening date was delayed 2 times. Hanger 1-30 are booked for our national airline, Nepal Air. Each hangers can fit up to 5 A380 in it.

SUSPENSION

Postby Meddicia » Fri Apr 16, 2010 7:35 am

To the Nepal Internation Airport, under the direction of Great Nepal

We have been ordered to temporarily suspend our flights out of NIA by the Protectorate President, under the orders of the Allied States of Tarrentum due to an active state of rebellion existing within our borders.

Please contact Tarrentum if you have any issues.
Horribly Ethnocentric. So Ethnocentric we don't even use Quodite, Sarzonian or Tarrentian products.
