The Ancient Age has started. The first nations are battling and bargaining their way to greatness. You are ready to lead your nation through peace and through war, through the best and worst, until the end of time.
The History of Man series has been here for almost two years, having over 1000 pages of OOC and 150 pages of IC posting (chatty, aren't we?). The roleplay is always open, and will accept anyone that can post with: basic grammar, logic, and the will to improve any mistakes.
This RP is based on alternate history, but is still very realistic. Although no nations are the same as they were in the real world, technology levels and basic cultures are similar. Populations, armies, and events are all based on logical thought, and major decisions are more often discussed in the OOC than not.
In the same way that real world nations did not exist, the same goes for religion and culture. Try to name your country something different, that doesn't sound typically Russian, Arabian, and so on. The country's city names should also be unique. This is what I generally do to get new names.
We use a claim limit. Basically, this is an invisible barrier. When you expand too much, you won't be allowed to expand anymore. We can't all be British Empires, can we?
The claim limit will increase over time. You start out small and progress in time with the others.
Another notable concept we use is time-warping. during wars, diplomatic meetings, or multi-player events of any kind, the players involved may choose to create a time-bubble in which they slow time down. You want to roleplay a 2-year war, but you can't do it all in one real-life day? You slow down time in that area, and then you catch up with the rest of the world after you're done.
Certain NPCs with notable histories are protected. This means that someone here has a plan for them, so I place the NPC into protected status. No one may attack it or claim it, but new players may apply in that area. To roleplay with a formerly-protected NPC, you basically have to follow the storyline we have in mind for it, though loosely.
Players that have to leave the site for any reason can also be request to become protected for that period of time. Their territory is kept for them until they come back.
Protected NPCs: Dacia, Hungary.
Protected nations: None.
