Haize Military Police Successfully Arrested Elusive Drug Ringleader Barapon

IRINETZ - Haize Military Police had recently successfully apprehended and arrested Barapon (real name classified) red-handed in Tysukeli-Oblask today, one of Haishan's top wanted in trans-national crime after several years of espionage and public tipping on tracking and trapping the infamous Mokan drug ringleader. Citing it as one of the biggest catch in the military police history, Chief Commissioner Srudaje-Molovc stated Mr. Barapon was accused of seven charges of unauthorized drug distribution, five accounts on bribing and sedition against Haize Military Police personnel and various public officers, seven accounts of possession of various illegal drugs, three charges on illegal racketeering and five combined charges of unauthorized money transfers, laundering and counterfeiting.

The Chief Commissioner had also voiced disapproval on the People's United Federation of Mokastana apparent inability to curb the outflux of trans-national drug runners that are considered as blight in Haize public stability, "These drug lords and runners are starting to become a problem for us Haize. While we're always vigilant to protect the public around the clock, the appearance of Mokan aliens made it quite difficult for us to concentrate on various pressing matters at hand such as interdiction of Haize organized crime groups. It would be even more troublesome if they started to import their home-brew rivalries here but nevertheless expect zero tolerance from the Haize Military Police."

The public disclosure of arrest of Mr. Barapon had generated considerable buzz from the general public given Haize Military Police rarely disclose any apprehended criminals or suspects on grounds of minimizing plausible risks to the members of the public and to protect ongoing investigations from compromising factors. Picking Up The Pieces

Today marks the seventh month since the Imperial regime was toppled by Coalition forces, which was ignited by the sinking of a Akimonadi cruise ship by the former Imperial Theocracy of Castille de Italia, in response to proposed military exercises in the Greater Dienstad region. The nation now looks back at the horrors of the war, as life finally changes for the normal again.

For most Castillians, the Reconstruction is beginning to come to an end, with help from Coalition forces and humanitarian missions, infrastructure is being repaired and new housing structures are being built, with foriegn corporations moving operations in the Federation, building jobs and an economy for the new nation.

But for others, the flashbacks and traumatic events still haunt them, especially for the survivors of the Reformation Camps the Imperial regime had set up shortly before the war began. The Reformation Camps were designed to systematically eliminate anyone who the regime considered undesirable, such as homosexuals, African-Americans, atheists, and others.

But perhaps the most infamous of all these camps is the Rutherford Detainment Facility, where over 700,000 people were killed during the war. Rutherford is located 200 miles north of Preslaff, and was the final stop for many who were arrested during the Great Leap Forward, and shipped by rail to the death camp.

Other pieces of the war remain as well, such as the empty carcasses of tanks along Sara's Plains, a major strategic point in the war, with a majority of the former Empire's onshore oil production centered there. Many of the oil wells were destroyed during the battle, exactly on the 100th anniversary of the First Battle of Sara's Plains in 1903, in the Second Civil War. Kids can now be seen playing in the wreckage of crashed helicopters in wheat fields, and scavengers pulling apart the wreckage of fighter jets in forested areas.

But one piece that will hurt the Federation for years to come is the agricultural economy. During the war, the Mokan People's Federation carried out bombing runs on wheat fields using napalm, which led to the deaths of thousands because of food shortages. The land, scorched from the bombs, is now unsuitable for crop production. An economist from the National University in Preslaff predicts that the Federation will have to rely on food imports for at least a decade.

Not only will agriculture struggle, but will foreign relations with the Federation and the world. Former allies have gone to condemn and place sanctions on the Federation, while others have already commended the actions of the Federation in drafting a constitution and giving freedom to citizens. The first fair elections were held last month, something the average Castillian has never experienced. President Henry Harshmann of the Conservative Party won with an overwheleming majority of 74%. Other candidates were John Reynolds of the National Democratic Party and Victor Pullman of the Castillian Socialist Union Party.

President Harshmann gave a speech the day after the elections, saying that "We now hold our own destiny. Where we choose to go from here will shape our future, all of us, as a unified people, as a nation. We choose to pursue a new plan, a plan of peace through diplomacy. God hold me as a witness, I swear to you all that the Federation will be an example to others, that freedom shall be brought to the oppressed just as it was to us.

While order and stability has shown within the past months, attacks in rural areas have increased by which Federal authorities have identified as Imperial holdouts loyal to the Emperor Titus Valerius II and Chancellor Victoria Mede. Violence by these groups jumped higher as a school bus was bombed, killing 13 children and 1 adult in the former Fellhauer Province, now the State of New Townsend.

Violence and crime have increased in urban areas as well, as drug trade begins to grow due to the influx of narcotics from the Mokan People's Federation. The more relaxed trade and border policies have caused in increase in drug trafficking by 32%. Drug-related deaths increased by 45%.

Even with the cons, Castillians still keep their head high and stay optimistic. In a recent survey, 92% of citizens say that their happier with the new government and way of life, while 1% said that they would rather have the Imperial regime back. 7% said they wanted a different style of government.

The Federation continues to rebuild and forget the atrocities of the Imperial regime, while working together to ensure nothing of the sort happens again.

"Your Welcome, as for the drug war, it is still a hot issue. After working closely with local Law enforcement and military units in the Sur Region we thought we had the area mostly under control, only a few Cartel bases remained. Then while transporting a High Value Target to an overseas hideout, a well hidden army sprung up and fought in the Capital of the Sur Region. I am sure you have records on the causalities from that combat. I was on loan following up a lead in Sur when the battle broke out. We did not expect the Cartels to have that much firepower left in the Sur Region.

I would say the Mokans my need help on this one, but I could not tell you how. No one knows the local land better than their law enforcement, and I have seen Fegosian Union Police fight, but they need more soldiers, not cops.

Not to say it is all dark, after all external reports are showing that within the Fegosian Union Nations, the price of narcotics on the streets has gone up 300% in the last year. What we and the Mokan government are doing is working, and working well, but the problem is that these Cartels have been preparing for this war for decades. They have the guns, missiles, and even some military grade vehicles at their disposal. It is truly a Civil War in some places. We here in the FUPF can only do so much as outsiders, but I truly hope the rest of world starts seeing that the drug trade is diminishing, but if they want it to shrink faster, they have to contribute to the War on Drugs.

I have seen boys, dressed in Full Dauntless Armor, throw themselves on a grenade and live, only to get up, bleeding and dying, and they keep fighting... Fighting to protect their squad mates and police officers like myself... Its terrible on those streets... Would you excuse me?"

Advanced Space Development Directorate Unveils Raelizh Space Launch Complex

SOLZOT - Advanced Space Development Directorate (ASDD), a subsidiary to HPVA had recently announced the operational readiness of newly constructed Raelizh Space Launch Complex to support Haize space missions and beyond. The space complex, previously rumoured to exist by various accounts is now verified to be true by the ASDD public disclosure. ASDD leading director, Dr.Urugi-Melev detailed the launch facility represent Haize many firsts and ingenuity to achieve seemingly implausible cheap access to space.

Additionally the director detailed the complex can theoretically launch approximately twenty 40t space cargo unit (SCU) into low earth orbit per day via its ingeniously designed coil gun system, should power issues are to be solved and supporting infrastructures erected in place. ISA Officals Speak Out Against Haize Remarks

This morning members of both circles of the Imperial Senate came to hear the Atriarch and his cabinet defend the actions of his administration in spite of what the Bureau of Foreign Relations is calling a "Bitter and libel filled remarks by the Haize Government. This comes after the Atriarch authorized an Executive order to enter the former nation of Istegium four days ago. Now we bring you live to where the Foreign Minister is about to begin. "Good afternoon, I am here to tell to not only the members of the Senate but the People of the world that our actions in the former nation of Istegium are nothing but ones of peace. For months we have been forced to sit on our hands while bickering occurred in a council of bureaucrats.

Meanwhile millions were with out sufficient food or power. It was more than clear that whatever government that was established there before was no longer in power. So far we have brought food and power to near 5 million people in places where Coltarian forces are present. We have also had nominal casualties on both side due to accidents our current casualty polls stand at one Imperial soldier dead, 15 wounded from a faulty flare gun. So far there have been no civilian casualties. And of course we seek for these people to welcome us as thier new home. It is all we can offer after such long suffering"

Also this morning the Director of Defense stated that "Any attempt to interfere with either Coltarian Personnel or operations will result in swift action." So far the ISA has stated that the Downing of four Haize satellites was merely a "Matter of national security," siting them as key assets to interrupt Humanitarian Aid to the area.

CCA Suspends Coltarin Talks over Istegium Issue

DERRY, NG - Talks regarding Coltarin's membership of the Commonwealth Colonial Authority have been suspended today for an unspecified period of time due to growing concerns over Istegium.

"It was bit of an unpleasant surprise." Stated a CCA spokesperson. "The present situation between the Imperial States Alliance of Coltarin and the Techno-Induscracy of Haishan over Istegium is that that does nobody any good. Given that the ISA had already entered into talks with us over membership we decided to suspend said talks until further notice, chiefly after an independent inquiry assesses the situation and a resolution is agreed upon."

ORBCOM Expresses Dismay at Reckless Coltarin Action

Ol'vi - After the recent events in the Dienstadi region, where four Haishan satellites were shot down in an act of mindless aggression by Coltarin forces, Orbital Command (ORBCOM) has begun tracking actions to assess the risk to Fegosian citizens. Since the satellite attacks, the agency has tracked at least 30 000 pieces of debris in low earth orbits, ranging from shattered shards of metal to one tonne pieces of space vehicle, and attempted to predict where they may fall back to earth.

Special Marshall Te'si Eu'so'xha spoke to ANN regarding the incident.
"It's only a matter of time before these large pieces start dropping out the sky. Mostly, we predict the various to hit deep water, with minimal disturbance. However, there is always a risk of one of these larger components hitting a city, causing casualties and large amounts of damage."

The last incident of this magnitude, in late 2009, saw fortune in humanity's favour when multiple destroyed satellites returned to earth, missing population centres. RSF Squadron Sees Emergency Deployment

MORRDUN - The CCA has reported earlier today that the Royal Space Force's No. 435 Squadron, the Commonwealth's specialist anti-satellite unit, has been given an emergency deployment to assist the Haishan Space Authorities in recovering damaged Haize satellites in Earth orbit.

"It's mainly about negating a threat to the region as a whole as well as generating some goodwill with our Haize counterparts." A RSF spokesperson stated. "We intend to capture the larger and more dangerous components, then pull them to a higher and more stable orbit to allow the Haishan Space Authorities to conduct what work needs to be done."

PARLIAMENT AND SENATE ELECTIONS! WHO CONTROLS WHAT NOW?

Earlier today, the final votes came in for Parliament and Senate positions across the People's United Federation, while a strong indicator of people's faith in government and decisions, the elections can also provide some much sought after indicators to who will be elected President later in the month. The biggest change was the addition of 50 seats to Parliament and 60 to the Senate to give colonial territories and Belmotin a more direct voice in Federal matters. While the government was expecting some major changes this time around, it seems as if the changes were not the ones anyone, including top political scientists, were expecting. Perhaps the most predictable change was the massive losses the Liberal Party faced across the board, pushing them to one of the lowest counts in history of the party, meanwhile their rivals in the Conservative Party managed to pull off nearly double their number of seats in both houses. However, this does not point to a Conservative Victory, thought it would be safe to say that any motions from now on will have to apease the conservative voting block during these next few years. They came in with 63 Senators and 60 Parliamentarians.
Absorbing the fleeing liberals were the Socialist Workers Party and the Iron-hearts party, both growing in strength beyond what anyone could have estimated for either of them.

This splits the Left-Right spectrum of Parliament to 165-113 with 22 center seats. The Senate is far more left with a 177-106 split with 27 center line votes.

SATELLITE CHAOS ABOVE US! MOKAN AIR FORCE RESPOND IN KIND!

SENATE VOTES ON WAR! VOTES IN FAVOR OF CCA SUPPORT!

Announced earlier today, in its first session following the election, the Senate had voted on whether or not to offer military assistance to Mokan Allies in the Commonwealth Colonial Authority. Seeing as the CCA has no formal requirements of military aide between the nations the call of war fell upon the Senate to determine the best course of action as per Constitutional requirements. Following a close vote, the decision to offer military support was approved with 206 votes(205 votes required for the 2/3 majority rule). The announcement was made by Presiding Senator Jose Vincent, who had this to say:

"Let it be known, that Mokastana will consider an act of war very carefully before making a decision, but if and when we decide to go to war, we hold nothing back. Let those who dare to combat our Allies fear the might of the Mokan War machine. May we stand fast with our allies in their time of need."

The Presiding Senator went to to explain that the reason for the close margin in the vote was following an announcement of Lyran involvement against targets belonging to the Nation of Stevid. Only when an addendum was added to the bill to consider Stevid a separate entity from the CCA (so that the question of Lyran involvement could be tabled until later) did the bill have a chance of passing. Even so the vote was the closest margin seen in many years.

"We aim to stand with our allies, but the international game of politics is a messy one. We have considered the Lyrans friends and allies for a long time, I have personally served with them at my side. As it stands, if Lyras determines the entire CCA to be its enemy, it will be the duty of the Mokan government to be the first to attempt to reach a peace, but as of now, the Mokan government does not feel the need to interfere with the actions between Lyras and Stevid. FIRST ROUND OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS UNDER WAY! VOTES ARE IN!

After a long week of voting across the Federation, the initial votes are in showing the three main candidates that will be competing for the presidency.For those unfamiliar with the Mokan Election Process, each ballot has a place for a first, second and third choice candidate, given the numerous political parties in Mokastana, this was determined to be the best method to prevent a strongly rallied minority from taking over government power against a divided but still similar majority. A voter is required to have both a first and second place vote, but the third vote is only counted as a half, and is optional. Each place must be different.

So far voting as has taken place in the Mainland regions of The Islands, Mejico and Sur. Each seemed to favor different candidates. The Islands were split with most voting their 1st and 2nd choice as either Admiral Hector Franshaw of the People’s Party(ARP) or Senator Henry Milano of The Socialist Workers Party(SWP). Most 3rd choice candidates were either Parliamentarian Emilio Lomengo of The New Conservative Party(COP) or Iron Hearts Party(IHP) candidate Generalissimo Leon Alvarez.

In Mejico, the former strong bed of the Liberal Party, voters tended to shy away from the Liberal Candidate Senator Jorge Basque, favoring a stronger left wing or militaristic approach. One again Admiral Franshaw and Senator Milano both typically tied for first and second place on most ballots, with 3rd choice candidates intermixed between the remaining parties.

In the Surian Region, home of the Pharmaceutical Empires of Montana Inc. and other companies. The votes tended to be split between Lomengo(A conservative Native of Sur) and Admiral Franshaw. Third place was often left blank, and no clear candidate showed up as a rising power in Sur. The Socialist and Liberals received almost no votes in comparison, pointing to the left wing in Sur has rallied to the flag of the People's Party.

So far Senator Milano and Admiral Franshaw seem to be in the lead, with Admiral Franshaw taking a strong lead with the Sur Region Vote. However Parliamentarian Lomengo may be able to pull a recovery once the Wellovian, Aquarian and Colonial votes are counted.

Senator Jorge Basque of the Liberal Party(OLP) announced earlier today he will be dropping from the Race. Generalissimo Leon Alvarez of the Iron Hearts Party(IHP) is expected to make a similar announcement soon, even if top political analysis believe he is holding on to see how the Ironhearts will fair in the other half of the Federation.

DERRY, NZ - Following the recent Haize press release the CCA stresses that it is taking the Junta's concerns seriously.

"At this time the CCA's stance is to condemn the Imperial States of Coltarin's actions regarding the recent, unprovoked attack upon the Haize satellite network. But we wish to make it perfectly clear that whilst the Imperial States applied for CCA membership prior to the attack it hasn't been granted membership and in light of the attack it is doubtful that it will anytime soon. The CCA is currently meeting in Derry to discuss it's response to the Imperial States' action, chiefly the possibility of sanctions and barring the Imperial States from attaining CCA membership for the foreseeable future. Likewise the CCA takes a very dim view of recent actions by the People's Unified Federation of Mokastana, something that could see the People's Unified Federation being expelled from the CCA."

"The CCA is also looking for a peaceful resolution to the Istegium Affair, even going as far as to propose the formation of a peacekeeping force under the command of a neutral third party to take charge in Istegium. Haize Aerospace Defense Contingent Confirmed Deployment of Anti-Orbital Units over Satellite Disaster

Special Defense Commandant Hyuga-Eivik had officially confirmed that the Haize Aerospace Defense Contingent issued an emergency order for all active anti-orbital units to be prepared for future Imperial States' and Mokan Air Force attack, citing their recent actions arguably given Haishan a valid reason for pre-emptive defense. The SDC however stressed Haishan will not actively attack but instead will counter-fire for self-defense in an assertive manner. This statement may mean the alleged Mokan Air Force's space station that recently shot down a Haize satellite due to an operational mistake will eventually get targeted by the HADC as retaliation.

HADC on the other hand is negotiating services with the Haize Interstellar Armed Forces for a plausible joint operation to declare and deploy orbital no-go zone over the skies of Haishan including Haize exclusive economic claim to rapidly administer defense protocols from future space attacks. Haize Aerospace Defense Contingent Answer Mokan Air Force 'Conjectures', Questions Reliability

SOLZOT - Special Defense Commandant Hyuga-Eivik representing Haize Aerospace Defense Contingent had apparently generated a rapid official response from what can be seen caustic 'conjectures' from Air Marshall Jesus Manuel over the proceeding satellite disaster predominately happening above the skies of Haishan. Citing the Air Marshall's first point on the supposedly 'unprecedented incident', the SDC argued that truth can in fact stranger than fiction which he additionally elaborated such chances are highly likely given the previous history of Haize Technocracy that had conducted multiple accounts of space launches, leaving veritable amount of space junks cluttered in most orbits that Haize satellites operate upon.

SDC Hyuga-Eivik further reasoned as what the Mokan Air Force had just shown, having satellites pass over other nations are doctrinally considered as a highly risky proposition should a war breaks out or should international misunderstanding arise thus previous and current administration's decision to orbitally place Haize satellites precariously close to the generated space junks resulting from the previous administration space program which in turn rapidly deplete the satellites ability to maneuver in time, attributed to the inability of the satellites to relocate or dodge in time.
