Aravea and Avalon announce the development of an Orbital Missile Shield



In a historic event the Holy Aravean Empire and The Holy Empire of Avalon have agreed to codevelop an orbital array of defense satellites to intercept ballistic missiles. The leaders of the two countries will be holding a joint press conference about the treaty signing in the Aravean capital of Pendragon to hear the response of the international community. In addition at the press conference the two leaders are expected to unveil other details about the system and will likely allow the participation of other interested nations.

Robert stood in his dress uniform, the crown on his head sat perfectly. "You know, your country is more interesting than I thought it would be." Robert looked around, "So what is the name of your capital again, Dear Friend?" He nudged Lelouche with his elbow, Robert always loved to annoy his friend ever so slightly.

"Well this says it will have two options on how to deal with hostile warheads, it can either EMP Pulse it and turn it into a flying dummy or shoot it down with a ballistic missile. I did have one concern about this net though and in the world we live in this may come up soon if not addressed now."

"What if it was hacked? I mean, what if someone broke the system and made a sword out of it? Our shield could be used to kill tens of thousand if not hundreds. That is my only concern, when I return home I want to be able to look up and know that our dream is not being corrupted and used for some evil plot. We need a fail safe, the possibilities are just too dangerous right now and I don't even know if I could look my little girls in the eye and tell them I did my best to defend our nation and our was of life if all my best did was bring about death and destruction." Robert handed Lelouche a piece of paper, "What if we had a surface to space missile capable of knocking the satellites down should they turn against the innocent?"

Robert pulled an apple from his leather satchel and chewed on it, "The Queen ordered me to stay here for the day, something about 'make sure to represent Avalon, we do not leave until all debate is settled' personally I think she just waned me out of the country so she could fight with Parliament again... anyway, I am going to make dinner. Problem is that the Military is under me while I turned Amelia into nothing but a figurehead honestly, all she does now is say yes or no when I bring her information about hostile regimes, but to go to war I have to ask parliament, His Papacy, the Judicial Council, and her Majesty. Amelia is trying to overturn the Empowerment Act saying it goes against Arthur's Dream for Avalon." Robert exhaled, "sad thing is she used to be such a good sister and leader."

Robert drew a diagram on the piece of paper, "You see in Parliament you have Loyalists, those devoted to kissing the Crown's ass and then you have the Arthurians who are devoted to a free system where the Crown still holds power but is checked by the other branches." Robert drew the Political hierarchy and showed the division of both parliamentarian houses among the two factions. "If those Loyalists side with her they can pass a law annulling the EA, if the Judicial Counsel agreed that is was Constitutional then the law would pass on to His Papacy, right now Pope Gregory is the only one i can count on to keep that from happening. But if I kill Amelia then a War will start, if I leave her be a war will start, it appears as if the only way to not have a war is if i just go along with her plans." Robert shivered, "And I am not doing that." Her plans for him were pretty creepy after all.
