What do you mean by "Roman"? Those with Roman citizenship? Because citizenship was very often handed out to conquered, "non-Roman" people.

All non originally Roman Empire people should be romanized (basically lose their cultures and accept roman culture as their own), also people from other cultures and conquered regions would often be made slaves, not to speak about women's rights and the treatment to those who were against imperial regime. Yeah it sounds great, I'm happy to know that your role model or example to a European Federation is the (Very Democratic and Civil Rights defender) Roman Empire.

Look the fact your using the roman Empire as a comparison for the EU is proof enough that all you Eurocrats want is power and unlimited power at that. Tell me do you even know who is in charge of the EU because i don't

Why would they refuse citizenship?

Maybe they didn't want to have their lands in the hands of an empire. Maybe because they wanted to be free from the roman empire. Maybe because they wanted to remain in their own society and be driven by their own rules. But i guess that means nothing to you since you've already stated that the Roman Empire was good and minorities shouldn't have a say on things.

Democracy? You have democracy. You can vote for your national leaders, you can vote for the European Parliament etc. How is your democracy being denied?

Here you have one, basically assimilate or die

Edit:Another one
