Guys, I just thought of something.

What if FLCL is actually entirely from Naota's point of view, and that he uses his imagination to make his life more interesting because he lives in a boring town?

Medical Mechanica just is a really large factory that gives off a lot of pollution, Haruko is just a college dropout who travels a lot because she doesn't have a steady job, and Conti is actually a foreigner who just moved to Japan and doesn't speak much Japanese so he appears to be silent.

He's also struggling with growing up (possibly even going though puberty?), so the battles and things going out of his head is his way of coping with that. He does in fact fall in love with Haruko but, as she said, he's just a kid to her.

Kind of like Calvin and Hobbes: The Anime, if you will.

My favorite scene from this weeks Space Dandy:

*Dandy opens Meows door*
Dandy: "Don't worry Meow, we'll get you out of here!"
Meow: "Uhhhhhhhhh"
*Dandy closes door*

Well, okay, consider this: Every episode, at least once, Naota says "nothing happens in this town."

Basically what I'm saying is, nothing does happen. He wants somthing to happen. That's why he imagines all this shit.

Uh... nothing is a no-no zone for anime. And though I haven't heard of any specifically about Pearl Harbor itself, there are anime that center around that period of WWII.

There are anime set during WWII e.g. Barefoot Gen and Miyazaki's latest work, they are dark and extreme but they show the Japanese but nothing on the side of the Allies. Americans have made films about the tragedy of enslaving Africans and Germans have made films about the downfall of Hitler.

I think you meant to say about killing Natives, because enslaving Africans was a practice well before America as a nation came about.
