Purpose of Resolution?

Postby Bluffton486 » Wed Apr 07, 2010 3:10 pm

I'm sorry, I don't follow the purpose of this resolution.

1. Declare that all nationstates can have their own measurement system.

Is there a rule that prevents nationstates from having their own measurement system now?

2. Sets up the IMI to track and monitor measurement systems.

We're going to spend the currency of the good people of the world to track measurement systems? Is that a wise use of WA funds?

The nation of Bluffton486 votes opposed to this piece of legislation (which while very well written, is a waste of resources).

Come on people, don't let this nonsense go through. It's completely unimportant and won't change anything at all. The resolution is a waste of time, space and resources. It is regulating things that doesn't need to be regulated, it is freeing things that's already free, and it oppose common logic. :palm:

Not at the moment, or else I would have had to repeal it first.. which wasn't an easy task according to some of the veterans around here in the WA.

2. Sets up the IMI to track and monitor measurement systems.

We're going to spend the currency of the good people of the world to track measurement systems? Is that a wise use of WA funds?

The alternative is, we go without any sort of index for all of these different systems (which could be thousands). Trust me, the WA wastes a lot more money every year.

First, thank you to the at least 19 nations that endorsed my unsucessful GA proposal. Not too bad for a first try :) .
About the Numerations and Units Act, a little spotty, but please vote for it as it is a good start.

In relation to the current proposal at vote, making measurements universal will establish a simpler and more efficient way of trade. Therefore, I Rey Vicente Guerrero de Compasivo Personas vote in the AFFIRMATIVE while in the hopes that my colleagues will do the same.

I agree with the good Senor,

if a committee has already made an accurate exchange rate, than it makes less work for the actual nations involved in trade. Can you truly and honestly tell me that you would want to waste the resources of your OWN nation to do that while also simultaneously reducing your trade profits? Isn't it better to have and international entity do the dirty work and YOU reap the benefits.....I thought so, I agree with that too. :lol2:

I must admit I find this interesting. Where was the Representative from Copenhagen Metropolis the whole time this was being drafted? When it was being discussed? Not even a single peep. Then when it is already up for vote they want us to just vote no because they do not like it? Really? Really? :eyebrow:

Schm is new to the WA. We are currently considering our vote on the proposed resolution, and, while we like it overall, we are having internal debates on the following provision:

"7. DECLARES that it is the right and the duty of the IMI to solve any disputes over proper conventions, standards, or newly discovered applications, which require the creation or the revision of a unit of measurement or its standards;"

Would solving a dispute not pass a kind of judgment on a nation's units of measurement, thus creating a conflict with the first provision of the resolution?

False advertising

Postby Poopliana » Thu Apr 08, 2010 7:09 pm

This whole Thing has absolutely nothing to do with education or arts, so why is it categorized as education, this is a lie tabulated to gain votes of people who do not read the whole bill. it should be recategorized to something more appropriate, especially since there is no real funding for either arts OR education
