She was beginning to see just what Dora had come to understand, quite early on. There was no putting aside some things, and she resolved to talk to Dia as soon as possible. If she died without clearing things up, Hans and Dia might be at each other's throats, and she didn't want to risk that. All things were possible, after all.
Looking down at Sophie, she brushed a tuft of hair out of the child's eyes.
"We made it all right, didn't we? I've got you, and everything's fine now," the blonde chimed reassuringly, confident in the high numbers over Sophie's head. She didn't bother looking at anyone else's; there had been bad news enough for one day.
Giovenith wrote:"Seems sound enough," said Giovenith, perching on the opposite of him and looking out into the opening. "We might need to wait sometime after the storm too, though. Don't want the rain to make things slippery for some of the others. Do you think it will be big enough for some of the more currently delicate people to go across? Like the children, or Miss Katya?"
Poor kid, thought Willow along with everyone else in the cave, ears tilted low in pity. Dammit. They tried, they all really did, and they had still lost somepony? It wasn't as if they were ignorant of the possibility, but... jeeze, when it actually happened, it still managed to punch in that special blindspot in the heart. Celestia bless Giovenith, for running right into it.
Willow sighed, closed his wings, and sat down, looking upward to try and take in the ceiling of the cave. There were no markers to draw with, as he usually would have handled things, but the damp coolness of the natural marvel held its own kind of therapy.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

"You didn't have to come with us if you're so casual about dying," said Willow sternly but without rage, drawing little circles in the dirt with a frown. "Go jump in the waves yourself if you truly don't care, it's all your choice, receive no tears from me. Do not spit upon the serenity of everpony else because of your own antagonism. That's all I have to say to you." And it was, the pony immediately turned away from Tieria as if the "hyoo-mun" were, for all intents and purposes, nonexistent.

Cerillium wrote:The glowing lanterns bobbling along the cave's smooth ceiling bathed Marcus in greenish light despite being nearly eight feet above his head. He moved closer to the edge and peered at the rocks below, feeling gratitude towards Giovenith for giving him an excuse to not dwell on painful stuff.
"The water's still really choppy. Look at those waves to the left. I'm guessing the storm's in full force on the other side, but at least we're screened here. I'm guessing we're in the eye, because it's way too calm. There's hardly any rain. Going out now would be death once the back side of the typhoon hits."
He surveyed the rocks themselves and put thought into it. It was hard to really tell just how rough they were from this distance. "If I were to make a guess? I think even the little ones can climb along but they'll tire out before we get around the side and to the beaches. The hard part's gonna be getting down. We've got nothing to tie the ropes to. They wouldn't have reached all the way to the bottom if we'd left them tied on top, even if they hadn't, um. Yeah. I guess we can ask Ogoti to be the anchor. He can morph into shapes. I guess he can morph into something that wedges itself tight in the cave. And then he can just drop down. He's got no bones unless he wants them there. He can do really awesome stuff but not like the others. He's death and rebirth not fighting or parties or plots."
Marcus shrugged. "Everyone thinks gods are omnipotent. They're just like you and me, Giovenith. They can't solve all the problems with a finger snap and wink. They grow older and wiser and better at what they can do, but they can't do everything. I guess people just think gods don't have bad days and cry. I'm worried the adults will blame old Ogoti for not saving my dad. I know he couldn't. Maybe he can find his soul and give him a new body? Dunno. My dad wouldn't be happy if he did. He'd have no machine parts and no gene seed. He'd just jump off the cliff again to avoid being a regular flesh bag. That's how he was. He was great."
Urran wrote:"I can't die" he said flatly. "And as much as I enjoy jumping from cliffs I see no reason to." he dismissed Willow with the wave of a hand. He pushed his glasses up his nose and crossed his arms. They had more important things to worry about than the death of some old man. "Now, what do you suggest I do? I cannot bring him back, tears will not bring him back. If you care so much go find the body."

Giovenith wrote:"Perhaps only a few of us who are in better shape could go on ahead, and maybe bring some kind of boat or raft back for the others? I'm sure it wouldn't too hard... we'd have to leave behind someone who can take care of them, or perhaps the supplies we brought with us, though," Her head turned to glance back at everyone taking their grief in their own ways, equal in their submission to the situation. It was sad, humbling, and uniting all at once, but in no way ideal or beloved.
"Oh, I know that well... about gods..." Giovenith tucked her knees underneath her chin, looking downward at the cave floor, stirring up memories of her own. "My own mom, before she sent me off to Vafflehelm, I remember she hugged me and said that she wanted to do anything else but send me off somewhere she couldn't watch me. She said she didn't want me to be lonely or scared, but any alternative that kept me in her line of sight would have been too deadly. She couldn't do anything else. And... although I've never said this..." She looked to the side, feeling rather small. It felt horrible to say the next part to her sentence, it had always been something Giovenith kept to herself, but somehow she felt in this moment, that Marcus could be trusted with it. "... sometimes, I do know, that there could always be a time where I can not be her number one priority. Because she is a god, not despite the fact. She can't put her one child over the countless mortals who depend on her, no matter what she wants otherwise. Just look at what happened with Utmost Elohim and his son, for example. I know he went in willingly, but still...."
A hand poked itself out from her little self-hug, to draw a few spirals in the little dirt and dust on the cave floor. The lines connected as close as they could without colliding, only for their efforts to be put down with a final X crossed over them by the very same finger that brought them into being. "I won't blame Ogoti for anything. I can scarcely blame chance, for that is what it does. And I know... I know I will honor your father to the best of my abilities. Not just because of the amazing person he was, but for his role as a parent... absolutely sacred, deity or not. If we can all help find a way to, somehow fix this... we'll fight to find it."

Wren had forgotten about her chronometer and other instruments. She was happy to remain lost in the emotional cocoon surrounding her and Barox and she would have stayed there had her sensors not detected movement. It was a handy safety feature that kept her and her brethren from invading personal spaces or stumbling into each other when working in large, loud and dangerous areas.
She offered a soft kiss to his nose and then turned her head slightly to allow her optics to register the heat source on the catwalk above. The features were impossible to make out but the body heat distribution pattern indicated a feminine form.
"We're being watched," she whispered to Barox.

"You stay out of this." Tieria turned to face Yoshi. "Stop your pointless interjecting, this has nothing to do with you."
"It has to do with the Nikonors, it has to do with me." Yoshi countered. "Please, both of you, just stop fighting."

Yoshi, obviously the bigger person in the situation, shrugged and went over to a corner to check on his violin. It was intact and completely undamaged. He breathed a sigh of relief and sat down to tune the strings.
Blossom landed in between Yoshi and Tieria and smiled at the group. "Now, these are sad times, but it's still Christmas. The weather and death are sad, yes, but at least we are all together right? And if we are going to hide here together we need to get along. Who's up for being family...at least until we get out of here?"
aaaand, tempers seemed to only be getting worse. "You do not scare me." Tieria scoffed to Marcus. "You are young and stupid, however, I excuse your idiocy considering the circumstances."
"Tieria! I swear to Swith if you do not be quiet-"
"You'll what?" he cut yoshi's sentence off. "Are you going to shoot me? You and I both know what kind of person you are. You are too nice and gentle to harm anyone."
