Guess Apple is going to buy out the city with their products which are exactly the same as the former model but with a different number.

It seemed so familiar, and old news, but it isn't. I pray it is not the start of a trend, but if it is, I hope that it impacts so much of the USA that it is either welfare state or fall into the pages of history.

The American Right's collective brain is currently short-circuited regarding Detroit, because an overwhelmingly black city elected a white man (via write-in no less) over a black Democrat, which is utterly impossible according to everything conservatives believe about how and why minorities vote. :p

It won't there are still plenty of more welfare cities, IMO just make them all do community service or be enlisted in the army, if they are truly able to work then they will be caught and won't be on welfare, that will be because they will all be forced into the army.

To be knowledge, Houston isn't much of a boomtown. Its over-dependence on the oil industry is dangerously similar to Detroit's over-dependence on the auto industry.

I have my doubts.

Though, one has to take into account the different economic conditions present within Texas compared to other cities and states. And I'm not just talking about regulations.

So making blanket statements like NC did without taking into account other factors is pretty intellectually lazy.
