Just because you will be fighting ponies doesn't change the fact that you will be fighting against something. If my understanding of the thread is correct, there will be lots of soldiers fighting on either side. Adding more soldiers of different types will force actions by both sides. Regardless, a war is a war no matter what races are involved. Hell, if this gets high enough on casualties I'll have to deploy soldiers that are expendable and less capable in combat. The Carrier I sent is enormous, but limited on how many troops it can send into the atmosphere at one time.

Machineguns and Heavy Rifles, with the occasional Tactical Carbine. My Federal Marshals, which I will introduce in a bit, favor small side arms and shotties.

I like your strategy, but I think you should give is some idea as to the operating capabilities of your forces.

Remember that game changer I was planning? It involves a secret race of mine. They may or may not be spacefaring, and they may or may not posses 50 km long vessels.

EX: here and here (yes nomal tau have hooves)

they also look down upon CC of any kind as being barbaric.(the links have some pretty good info too.)

edit: and depending upon need and stuff I can have a space carrier parked in orbit. EX: this

Sinovet, communicating with ancient eldritch space abominations is never a good idea. And this is escalating a lot faster then I anticipated, all my poor special forces grunts are getting gibbed by enemy invasion forces. Gotta improvise.

Funny you should mention The Abomination...
No, Sinovet saved these cyber-aliens, and now Sinovet's orbital space is crowded with warships, and the cyber-aliens decided to show up an lend their old Pony buddies a cold steel talon.

Both the Tau are notorious for their use of auxiliaries.

The Cyhelenes are going in first. They are an primary aquatic race who will be going to secure one of the smaller islands with support from the Destroyers and the fighters. The fighters are also the primarly light ground assault vehicle. Operationally my nation can be diverse or they can specialize. Space Domination is important, but in a war where space in a secondary theater they will try and secure land as soon as possible. If enemy nations begin deploying units in the millions the Grogs will come out and they are the unintelligent, large, animalistic soldiers who use high caliber, semi-auto weapons. Until that time the infantry will use a mixture of mag-rifles and energy beam weapons.

If I deploy anything aside from infantry and Locust I'll post a link. I am just trying to get a hold on how war roleplay works on Nationstates before doing anything too major.

Here I was, thinking that my only real resistance in space would be this Vasari-guy, who appearantly dropped out or something... and what do I get?! ;)

Does anyone know, what these Locust Fighters are capable of? And these aliens with the 50km-long ships, they will support Sinovet, won't they?

Good question: The Locust fighter is a swarm tactics fighter in space, but can land and walk as an infantry support vehicle. Unfortunately most of my craft have been designed to counter similarly sized craft and the Locust was the arm of the fleet which would get in close to the enemy ships to prevent them from being able to effectively defend themselves. I don't plan on using the whole swarm as that would be a bit much here. I try and at least scale the numbers down when I feel that too many would be unfair. After all, roleplay is for the storyline.

Locusts aren't the only fighters that I can deploy, but they will be the primary ones. The other ones are CFA-77 fighters deployed from my cruisers. Each Cruiser has two wings of 13 fighters for support missions. Those fighters are manned instead of controlled though a hivemind onboard the Carrier.

I'll make an IC post tomorrow after I wake up. I was hoping more people would post on the ground so I could get my troops landed, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yeah, your going to need some backup.
But don't worry...
The cyber-aliens have other things to be worrying about, otherwise they would probably destroy half the world and build a colony in a realistic scenario.
