Must the whole thing be a metaphor? I don't think anyone reading this would have any idea of what is actually going on in Lazarus.

If you indicate that something is going on, but don't tell your audience what exactly it is, they're more likely to go look into it themselves.

Alternatively, we're just messing around at 3am because we can and we find it amusing. It is worth noting that we've actually had solid activity increases for the past 10 days, though, and that I want to continue to achieve those increases more and more easily as we go on. :p

Impromptu Update from Lazarus

Postby Lazarene Gazette » Fri Nov 22, 2013 3:16 am

Responses to La pasionaria's Deletion

Lazarus is not a hardcore left-wing region; some members are socialists, and some simply RP as being socialists or believe in the regional interpretation of how some of its ideas can effectively be applied to a GP region. Of course, Milograd is too satirical to be fully understood at times, but is known to be a social democrat IRL.

However, regardless of Lazarus' newness to applying socialist ideas to NationStates and to the left wing of NS, we can definitely relate to the loss of a leader and therefore Lazarus expresses its condolences to The Internationale for the loss of a dedicated warrior. It was hard not to disagree with LP every so often, but we had a strong respect for his enthusiasm, conviction, and dedication. Lazarus wishes LP, The Red Fleet, The Internationale, and so on the best of luck. Leaders may die, but ideas don't.

Late Night Nonsense: Fun with the SC and Then Some

Lazarenes were bored tonight, so they collectively decided to find something fun to do.

Our delegate decided to switch his vote from against "Liberate 'Deep Space'" to a vote of support for it after being encouraged to do so by members of the region, and after concluding that it might be funny. His vote shifted the balance of the vote.

Later, Governor Kazmr decided that writing a report solely about iron production with little to no relevance to NationStates itself. The decision was strongly approved of by his peers and the post was published here.

To be honest, this post was actually made to show people that we're not just tripping balls. We swear we aren't.

Non-Aggression Pact Goes To Vote in The South Pacific

SPINN did an excellent job reporting this story, and the Gazette encourages readers to read its article here.

Lazarene Liberation Army Performs First -- and First Successful -- Mission

Tonight, the Lazarene Liberation Army prevented a raid of Deep Space. Several troops moved into the region well before update and army troopers followed them into the region; though it was hardly the most dramatic, challenging, or exciting mission, it was a mission nonetheless and the turnout during exam time on short notice was applauded by Milograd.

It is my hope that, in time, we can continue to have successful missions, that we can grow in our numbers and become more skilled, and that we can take on more formidable opponents.

Lazarus and The Sovereign East Publish Statement and Pursue Treaty

Chairman Milograd and Delegate Bachtendekuppen of The East Pacific published a joint statement today:

A Joint Statement from Lazarus and The East Pacific

The East Pacific and the People's Republic of Lazarus formally declare their intention to draft a stronger and updated treaty between each other, replacing the 2009 treaty.

Our two regions have a long history of friendship and cooperation and consider it an appropriate time to renew this bond, in light of the constitutional reorganization in Lazarus and the continued mutual support and respect for both regions.

Signed,

Bachtendekuppen, Delegate of The East Pacific
Milograd, Chairman of the People's Republic of Lazarus

Thanks for reading! This has been an impromptu GP-Exclusive update!

Sgt Vort's Lonely Hearts Club Band would like to formally recognize the achievements of the Lazarene Liberation Army in their work under the leadership of Milograd, himself an esteemed member of the Sgt Vort's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and looks forward to working with the LLA under the auspices of our joint interests in improving the reputation and influence of GCRs in a military atmosphere dominated by the loudest Userites to the detriment to the significantly more interesting and capable efforts of GCR militaries on both sides of the Userite-illusionary divide.

It's more fun with friends.

To that effect, we would also like to congratulate Lazarus on its recent improvements in harvesting and iron production. This is an accomplishment perhaps unmatched, as proved by the SVLHCB Research and Development Department's work in trawling this forum for mentions of 'iron production', proving that it has not been mentioned once in 2013 outside either Lazarus' efforts or the failure of TSP under the 'People's Revolution' to do the same via the death of various anonymous kulaks. Indeed, during the article's authorship itself, iron production lifted from 112% improvement in the title to 129.2% later on in the piece.

The effect of this great improvement on raider morale remains to be seen, with no real direct links between iron production and defending immediately apparent, but SVLHCB looks forward to Lazarus utilizing this, again, unprecedented advantage to far outdo the activities of defender organizations that, historically, have not been able to report iron production of any note whatsoever. However, as was seen through Unibots I, II, and III, the production of iron and other bot-related metals is seemingly crucial to the defender cause, and we can only imagine that the bountiful harvests of grain will distract the prey-animals of the Black Hawks for long enough to induct them into a socialist framework and the invincible Lazarene social security nets (a metaphor, of course, for literal nets and small cages for mounting and display).

However, SVLHCB, whilst doing its utmost to preserve positive relations with Lazarus, is forced to ask for the sake of media neutrality why the image used by the Gazette previous to the last seems to depict a large piece of Toblerone cleverly disguised as Defender Military-grade iron, when our investigations prove conclusively such iron is "much mined, very bountiful" in Lazarus. We ask this with greatest respect for the historically significant statistical accomplishment of the Lazarene workers, and look forward to an official gazette regarding Toblegate.

Have to agree Rach. You're not being fair to Lazarus there.
Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

Perhaps you are not aware of the naturally occurring alloy 'Tobliron' that can be found in several of the mountain ranges dotting Lazarus' far north. These mountains are in fact home to the famous 'Toblerone Trees' from which capitalists formerly harvested the world's supply of Toblerone, before being forced to turn to an inferior synthetic version once the means of production were returned to the People (fun fact: the mountain depicted on the Toblerone packaging is in fact in Lazarus).

When the fruit of the Toblerone tree has the chance to decompose on the mountainside, it infuses the mountain's iron with unique properties, most notable of which is the distinct taste of 'Swiss Milk Chocolate with Honey and Almond Nougat.' Though it holds up just as well as regular iron, Tobliron has the ability to double as rations for our comrades in the Lazarus Liberation Army when they conduct extended missions.

Nice to see what the delegate of TSP thinks of the Feux Administration ("NPO"), given how many non-NPOers signed off on the motion to remove the imperialists from Lazarus.

However your analysis makes no sense -- the purge exacerbated and accelerated the conflict like any purge would. Likewise, Lazarus was not the only "battleground" in the conflict. The Cold War still rages on in many different fronts -- it's intellectually dishonest to suggest otherwise.

Don't be fatuous Unibot. Feux, AMOM and the NPO publicly admitted that it was they who were purging Lazarus in their 'retort', and retroactive attempts to pretend otherwise are laughable.
