Shockingly, we more or less agree on this. Women don't want a man who's overly friendly - especially if that's his main selling point.
It's a fun side dish, but the main course has to be a man who's responsible and can stand up for himself and for her when that's necessary.

He might be right on the money. Niceness by itself isn't the end all and be all to attract women. Money, looks, intellect, and a sense of humor might be more alluring than all around niceness.

Ok, this thread is actually different in perspective.

This is coming from a guy who think Nice Guys are crap, and I respect that.

My own opinion is: being nice is good, but women are not looking for a "Nice Guy" they are looking for a good man.

Being a good man and a nice guy are different. Whereas being a nice guy isn't that big of a deal, being a good, responsible, man who has his shit together and can talk to women is.

And for those of you who are saying "Introverts need to learn how to date"; I am an introvert, and I have had pretty good looking women for dates. Being introverted doesn't exclude you from being dateable.

This is true, but more so for men who are out of high school and gotten a chance to get comfortable in their own skin. Many men with very attractive wives are introverts, too. I was one of the awkward ones in high school (I grew a foot in 4 years and still looked like I was 12), and I never had a date until I was 20. It really was my own fault, though, as I found out after I got out of high school when 3 (VERY good looking) girls told me they would have gone to my senior prom with me had I asked (obviously, I didn't).

Now, I'm 24 and I'll probably be married soon as I've been with my girlfriend for nearly 4 years.

At least from my experience, it's surprising most women I have dated don't give a hoot about money, and in fact it's one of the items they least discuss.

They do put a big emphasis on intellect, looks, and a sense of humor though.

Then again, like I said, these are just my experiences, and perhaps the women I tend to socialize with.

I'm inclined to say both. If you can't find a girlfriend, it's probably your fault (unless you live in China), being nice doesn't mean a girl will fall in love with you, and you shouldn't expect that in return. But I've read something that says women's preference for "tough" guys is biologic.
