Well, Vietnam being a socialist state, has a clear line between state and religion. So there's 2 cents.
It isn't and self-identified "socialist states" in the past have been prone to occassionally use religion to advance its causes, such as with Stalin abolishing the Society of Militant Godless and restoring relations with the Russian Orthodox Church in an attempt to provide a boost in nationalism to better support his policy of "socialism in one country"

Yeah, but the joke was that in 1984, everything is named reverse. Like, the propaganda guys are the Ministry of Truth, and the torturers are the Ministry of Love.

I had the lesbians at the Ministry of Dryness.

Was what I was going for there.

I fucked it up.
In sixteenth-century Europe, the disease of virgins, or green sickness, was seen as a common disorder affecting young unmarried girls. Its symptoms included weakness, dietary disturbance, lack of menstruation and most significantly, a change in skin colour. Understanding of the condition turned puberty and virginity into medical problems, and proposed to cure them by bloodletting, diet, exercise, and marriage. - The Disease of Virgins, a book I saw a promo for while trying to learn how babies are made.

I sometimes wonder if this is what it came down to:

The six Illuminati masters or whatever who control the world are sitting around a table in a bunker under the North Pole with a space heater brought in from the secret Nazi UFO transport saucer that a clone Goering is still sitting in with the dash heater going.

"Still gay stuff going on."

"Still?

"Yeah."

"We made a rule against it."

"Nobody gives a hit. I mean, a few people do but they're assholes. The cool kids don't give a shit. Really, I kind of don't give a shit anymore. I can't remember why we didn't want the gay stuff."

"We could blame them for things. It was like a group hate kind of thing."

"Was that from Brave New World or 1984?"

"1984. I think. I'm like, 90%. Yeah. Brave New World, they sang together or some shit."

"Soft."

"Okay, fuck it, just let's some of us be gay then."

"I've been gay this whole time."

Socialism and religion aren't linked though. Christian socialists as a point of matter.

Every dominant religion and several minor ones have been interpreted in socialist manners before. The ruling class in several of these "socialist states" really just wanted a traditional base to appease much of the population. Secularism was beneficial to the Leninists, though aggressive anti-theism alientated much of the population.
