I don't think this will become possible.
Unless you revamp the entire R/D game to something that doesn't rely on a win/loss the falls with the drop of an update. That way the natives can resist an invader siege and possibly get reinforcements from defenders.

Check out this proposal thread on the not yet implemented Delegate Elect procedure. That may allay some of your concerns.
