International Incidents' RPer of 2013 Competition: Marquesan versus New Belhavia
Welcome to International Incidents' Roleplayer of the year, 2013 edition! This is a friendly competition for the purpose of recognizing and supporting stellar roleplayers throughout the year of 2013. The aim of the competition is to have some fun, build some competitive spirit, and to provide some extra exposure for helpful and interesting RPers!
The rules are simple: each player gets one vote. You are free to provide your own reasoning as to why, but you are not required to. You do not need to provide your own reasoning if someone asks. However, you are encouraged to provide reasons why you voted for that particular RPer. Please, please, PLEASE vote with your mains. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me know. If there is a reasonable number of puppets (reasonable left up to myself to decide) or low-post accounts voting in a fashion that I would be concerned, I may close the match for review. Remember, this is all in good fun, so let's have some fun!
It's Sondria versus Tyrrhenia as roleplaying representatives Marquesan and New Belhavia go toe-to-toe! New Belhavia has proven his strength in defeating Vakolic in the previous round, but can he last against Marquesan, or is this the end of the road for the Tyrrhenian?

The misty peat bogs of Arato were turning frigid already. Low, heavy clouds covered the tops of the hills and rocky outcroppings hid the shadows of all manner of things. Rumors had always been wild that the Aratan hillcountry hid buried treasure, caches of arms, the bodies of tens of thousands of missing people from all nations of Sondria and, perhaps most dangerously, the beating hearts of the region's most violent criminal organizations.Through the acidic-smelling peat bogs, there were pathways. Some no larger than a goat trail, others obviously from vehicles that had worn away the tough grass that dominated most of the country. Some seemed to lead nowhere, others led back onto themselves, some deep into the marshlands and others to tiny villages. Since the beginning of recorded time, this strange and eerie landscape had been widely believed to be the bed of ancient evils, many Sondrian cultures believed it to be the land of the dead and the few towns that existed were the stuff of legendary tales that spoke in whispered tones about the dead walking those empty trails that led back only upon themselves.
The people that lived here were a tough people who, for many years, had been administered as a colony of Marquesan. Now, with both Arato and Renier having been purchased for an undisclosed (but rumored to be immense) cost by the Aquilinians, the hardy, silent people that lived among the dead went about their business a little less openly than they did before. - To Influence a Nation

”A hard knock on the door caused Kollan to lift his eyes from his computer screen and glance up. "Yes." The statement was such to convey a tone of utter boredom, mixed judiciously with indifference and a cautiousness born of sheer will.
The door opened, and Hunter Nam, in his obliquely presumptuous swagger, entered in without an invitation. Ben Kollan sighed. Just another day.
"What is it, Hunter?" Kollan didn't bother to hide is annoyance; Nam knew he disliked him. The plant manager had no reason to pretend otherwise. Nam, for his part, quickly pivoted to a more subdued tone, ever the chameleon.
"Sir, I have some troublesome news."
Really? Did Corporate send word of your dismissal and sacking?
The man continued unabated. "Many of the plant workers are getting anxious. Ten have walked off the job already, citing us as - and I quote verbatim - 'meddling foreigners trespassing on Allamunnic land and property' - and unworthy of being their employer."
Shame. Kollan's neutral expression unfroze as a corner of his lip curved upward in slight amusement. I was hoping you would be sent home packing. Oh well.
Finally, he spoke. "Who cares?" He shrugged indifferently, waving a hand contemptuously. "We can find new workers. Northport has loads of men willing to work with the right skills and education."
A sigh escaped softly from Nam's mouth. Probably unintentionally.”
