A New Beginning (ATTN Rei Goku, Closed)

It was late autumn, in the Imperial Realm of Romberg. By now, the first snows had already taken place all over the Northern part of the nation, with many of the wild life already beginning their cycle of hibernation, waiting for Spring to arrive the next year. Towards the South, it was not much different. There was no snow yet, but "yet" was indeed a stress, since in a month or so, the entire nation apart from the far Southeast would become a white wonderland, with everything covered in a thick white blanket of snow. For now though, the temperature was rapidly decreasing, yet it has not snowed yet. The red leaves of autumn had long since shed, the trees now bare, revealing the branches and twigs in all their naked glory. And although it was not the most atmospheric time to schedule a diplomatic visit, it was nonetheless planned for a entourage from The Constitutional Monarchy of Rei Goku to visit the Imperial Realm of Romberg, in anticipation of a series of agreements and deals aimed to improve the relations between both nations.

At Holmgard International Airport, Holmgard, some half an hour away from Romberg's capital, preparations were made to welcome the arrival of the group. This time, the Kaiser himself had unexpectedly been able to take a few days off his busy schedule in national matters, and instead take the group around on a tour of the nation as well as take part in diplomatic talks. And in the airport itself, more directly, the VIP terminal was evacuated, and a red carpet rolled out onto the tarmac of the airport to await the arrival of the group from Rei Goku. Standing there too was a group of honour guards of the Imperial Armed Forces' elite 1st Guards Army, and they were dressed in Romberg's official black dress uniform, based on the Russian design for winter and complete with a Ushanka. The honour guard also had a rifle each, which uniquely were still loaded with live ammunition in case of an assassination attempt. Indeed, all was ready except for one thing. The arrival of the group from Rei Goku.

Due to weather delays, the Grand Constitutional Monarchy of Rei Goku has been late. They are really sorry.
The classic Ford Tri Motor is seen landing in the distance and the assembly rushes to prepare for entry.
On the rudder is Four Flags. The Flag of Japan (rising sun, ver.), The Flag of Rei Goku, The War Flag of Rei Goku, and a Rainbow flag for variation.

The Assembly gets sorted out and the convoy arrives.
The Majestic Emperor of Japan and Grand Constitutional Prime Minister of Rei Goku ride in a 1930s Daimler-Benz, and humbly greet the Ever Righteous, Courteous Imperial Majesty of Romberg


The Imperial Army of Division 2, Division of Ceremonies march before the Emperor and Prime Minister are scene.
They stand on opposite ends with rifles loaded and ready to fire in case of emergency. Our soldiers bow to The Majesty's of Romberg's soldiers for 3 minutes straight as a sign of respect to them and The Majesty.

Now the Prime Minister and Emperor of Rei Goku can be seen and ready to bow and shake hands with their counter parts.

Some navy men stand behind just to secure the area. They do not bow, not out of disrespect but they are a special corp only loyal to our Emperor.

Seeing the old plane and car arrive, the Kaiser was a bit bemused, given that most countries would not use such old equipment, which even at mint condition would be questionable in airworthiness and road performance. Yet he was not in the position to judge, and besides he sure respected old engineering.

As a sign of respect, the Rombergian Honour Guard fires three shots into the air in unison, symbolising the union of mixed blood Rombergians, Germans/Nordics and Russians/Slavs which constitute the nation. A military band begins to play the Imperial March, the national anthem of Romberg, as well as the national anthem of Rei Goku as the Kaiser walks forward to greet the visitors. He first instructed the 2nd Division soldiers to be at ease. He was not going to let such formalities interfere with proceedings. Although he was well aware of the discipline and respect that Japanese in general have, he still hoped that they were to be treated as equals and not seemingly submissive.

The Kaiser performed the standard Rombergian military salute at the local honour guard, in which case they went at ease. He then stepped forward and shook the hands of the Prime Minister and the Emperor, but in respect to Japanese tradition bowed at them as well.

"Welcome to Romberg. It's getting a bit cold now, although I'd guess since you're Japanese in race you're kinda used to this. You've had a good flight, I assume."

From the look on their faces, it was quite evident that their flight was fine. Basic greetings were first exchanged before a police motorcade escorted them back to a palace in Holmgard where the Kaiser and the Emperor could talk in private.

As our emperor and prime minister seem to feel all is well, and with the Kaiser's permission enter the castle and start discussion.
After the initial greetings, of which the Prime Minister has had to translate more than 75% of what the Emperor had said and will say into German (Excuse our Emperor he's old... he likes old stuff... born before WWI and still serving this great country, *Prime Minister is sure glad but a bit annoyed at translating every nuance*)
So after initial greetings, the Emperor without saying anything but "Eat please." (His German follows Japanese grammar), he procures from his sleeve a box of Japanese Spicy Caviar, Mentaiko

The Kaiser did not feel to hungry after seeing it. Spiced caviar? It was not something he was used to. And it was bright red, unlike the ones imported from Russia, which was much more familiar to him. But then, Rombergians eat rather strange things too. Essentially anything with fur and four legs that moved was prey to Rombergians. Including many of the internal organs. From the German heritage, blood sausages were prized, but others like Haggis from Scottish settlers were not unheard of as well. So who was he to judge?

The Kaiser carefully took a small bite. Though it was clearly not to his taste, it was somehow rather refreshing and inside, somehow he had some kind of strange attraction to it. And it slid down his throat with relative ease. Admittedly, the Kaiser would not rush to add this food to his menu for some time, although at least he could bravely say that it was another thing that he tried, and actually found it to be better than he expected.

"Thank you, your majesty. We don't really have a special dish like yours, although we're famous for alcohol. Would you like a drink?"
