I quite strongly disagree that vote stacking and forum crashing arise from valuing sovereignty explicitly.

However, since you openly welcome raider regions - ie, the most blatant day-to-day offenders of the sovereignty of free regions - in your ranks, I'm not sure about the answer ...

I similarly do not agree with this classification. Raiding is not, in and of itself, necessarily a violation of sovereignty - and when it is, it is not necessarily unjustified.

Unless I'm jumping to conclusions, you believe those who attack the freedom and independence of others lose their own right to be free and sovereign and thus should expect to be raided/subject to other kinds of retaliatory actions.

Approximately, but it is not as black and white as you make it out to be. Not all who are attacked have freedom and independence to lose; not all who attack take away freedom or independence. Not all who do so can or should be struck in retaliation. Specifics require context.

Goodbye To A Friend

By Kogvuron

As you may have heard, Unibot, UDL Chief of the Band, is retiring from NationStates. When I head this news, it saddened me at first, because the game is losing one of its finest players and I am losing one of my finest friends. However, I realized that he was not really leaving us because we all have a little bit of his spirit inside of us.

Uni is extremely intelligent, as is plain to anyone who has ever read one of his 17,000 word essays. He is witty and charming. He is loyal. He is brave. Unibot stood for what many spat upon. He was the defender of regions everywhere and the champion of all natives. And even though many opposed him, insulted him, and slandered him, Uni stood tall and firm on the path that he thought was right. And that is what I respected most about Unibot.

So, as I reflect upon the career of this NationStates legend, I choose to focus on Unibot's spirit, not his departure. And so, I call on all of you to recognize that little piece of Unibot inside of you and act on it. Not in NationStates, but in the real world. Help out at your local homeless shelter. Give a friend a free hug. Stand up for the kid that is being picked on. Be the change you want to be and don't let anyone else push you off that path, no matter what they say. You can make the world a better place, no matter what anyone says. So, as I say goodbye to a dear friend, I also say hello to the Unibot inside myself and I hope that you do as well. Goodbye Uni, and thank you for teaching me so much over the past two years. Godspeed.

Any chance the next one could have a version with music, and a version not with music?

I appreciate you're trying to give a full radio experience, but I want to hear the TRRMC's take on the news and events of NS, not their ipod playlists :P. The latter gets in the way of the former.

If you can't/won't give us two versions, could you at least tell us the timestamps for each musical interlude so we can skip past them easier?

Thanks.

I do applaud the idea of a Rejected Radio, however.

Nice work.

This station radio could benefit from more Trinidad James and 2 Chainz.

Might I suggest Beatnik Turtle? As I understand it, they allow free use of their stuff for podcasts. Though you would want to double check, obviously.

Also: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/

Totally royalty free music, you just have to credit the guy/place somewhere in or near the product/podcast/etc

Satan (can I call you that? In all seriousness, what would you prefer to be called?), TNI and the LKE, among others, have explained themselves numerous times, and that hasn't stopped people in the FRA, among other defender organizations, from call us evil nasty bullies.

Mazeria was the region that flagged and ran the occupation of TRoNS, so you would have been much better served asking them. And at that point, Albion was also a member of UIAF, and you could have asked them as well.

While I applaud TRRMC's efforts to secure answers, you didn't ask enough people enough questions.

Sure. Everyone else calls me Satan, lol.

well, Albion ignored us, not even taking the time to refuse an interview. I don't know why but the only one's that know is them. Mazeria is such a small region that I can imagine why they'd invade The Republic of NationStates. However I seriously doubt they needed the UIAF's help. As for LKE and TNI, if they won't answer our questions, how can we know the answers to those questions? If they look bad from what I've said, it's entirely their fault for refusing to speak with us. While I am in TRR, a member region of the FRA, as the Officer of Media, maintaining a non-biased opinion is what I must do. If my speculation or opinion sounds biased, it is not intended. Frankly I am not involved in the inner workings of the FRA, but all I could do was speculate about the whole thing, since I had nothing to go on. I encourage TNI and LKE to step forward and go through with their interviews so that we can hear from them. Whether they do or not, is their decision.

Given the number of liberators defenders can mobilize, it makes perfect sense for Mazeria to ask for help from friends, allies and like-minded regions, including, though not limited to, The UIAF.

And thus, if you can understand why Mazeria went there, you can understand why UIAF was there - to help its friends in Mazeria. Friendship is a two-way street, and the UIAF has received help from Mazeria in its own military operations and occupations.

Be that as it may, it's their fault for being weak in number. If they recruited more, they wouldn't need assistance. I only feel it was quite excessive to ask for military aid from the UIAF. That's neither here nor there though.

It's common practice for regions to ask for military support on an occupation. Regions like Europeia and The New Inquisition have always ask for support even with a large military.

Well well. I am very glad to hear from you Christopher. I was rather insulted when you declined an interview. Not because the reporter I sent to you is my brother, but because TRR Media works hard to find newsworthy events and you made our efforts futile with a simple "no."

Even so, surely you recognize the sheer power the UIAF possesses. I think Cerebella underestimated the UIAF in the essay which stated it wasn't yet the year of the imperialist. Overkill isn't necessary when you're taking over a small helpless region, especially when the attack was unprovoked (or at least I am somewhat certain it was.)

So the FRA is 'weak in number' when they join forces with Spiritus, or Mordor, or the UDL or even TITO to liberate big targets?

1. Osiris had no hand in that proposal.

2. There was discussion of repealing Milograds condemnations.

You know what's really funny, is that there's a propaganda effect in repetition. Our brains tend to lend more credence to things not based on their veracity, but rather on how often we hear them.

That said, I'm fairly certain Osiris had a hand in that proposal. Say you didn't all you want, the rest of NS aren't idiots. I'm actually glad Osiris has gotten off their rumps and decided to get involved in GA/SC stuff. Please, continue. Kenny beat your repeal... I'll beat your stupid condemnation, and we'll keep on trucking. ;)

Well Jack, with all due respect, TRR Media doesn't determine the truth. We leave that up to our readers. You may not like it, but not everyone thinks alike. There are individuals here that will choose to either believe you, or not believe you. You have no choice but to accept that fact.

Then again, where in the article does it state it as a fact? Please point it out, because I am apparently blind. You have simply misinterpreted the article (maybe intentionally?) and are using that to attack TRR Media's credibility. However I can thwart your futile efforts to do so with no more than a few sentences. Allow me to take a moment to point out your misinterpretation of the article:

The Rejected Realms Media Corporation wrote:Revelations are surfacing that suggest Osiris may have been involved with the proposal to repeal “Condemn Omigodtheykilledkenny”.

Notice the key words in that sentence? The ones in bold lettering? You know what the word "suggest" means, right? Here's a synonym to help you out: imply.

The article only states Osiris' possible hand in the proposal as speculation. So before you step in front of me and make the NS community doubt your intelligence (or understanding of the English language for that matter) do be sure you actually understand what the article implies. If you want to embarrass yourself again, you are most welcome to try and make TRR Media look bad once more. However you will not succeed. I assure you.

Eh, I disagree with Belshaft that I rigged anything. The thing that helped me win the initial admin election was the fact that both Unibot and Sovereign Liberties ran as well as myself, that was definitely a split in a first past the post election. Sovereign Liberties also admitted to being up to mischief. I believe I campaigned well and hard, you know, I hold a strong belief in doing things properly and also have a strong election record in multiple regions. If I recall correctly, I had obtained the support of people like Luxembourg and Eggplantia.

Unibot and I had quite the nasty rivalry then, he had called some awful stuff in private and we were really going at it :P

My thanks to the TRR Media Corporation for printing an unfinished interview that I had to leave half way through, rather than asking me to finish it at any of the literally dozens of times I've talked to the interviewer since then. It's that kind of personal touch that is definitely going to make sure to cooperate with any requests from it in the future.

I was rather annoyed when Unibot choose to run in that election, simply as I knew he lacked the support to win himself whilst being guaranteed to split the defender vote which I had been expecting to go to Sovereign Liberties. You may remember that at the time the vote was meant to determine who would control the root account, then held by Liberties, but was 'reinterpreted' after the fact to have simply been a vote on adding a new admin, which was somewhat absurd as why on earth would someone who was already an admin run for election as an admin? I had no direct involvement in that decision but it was, admittedly, something I was quite happy to go along with rather than call out and have reversed. I can't remember precisely when you became root admin but I believe it was some time later, after my attempts to gain control of Balder imploded.

At the end of the day, Balder's early days were very confusing and no one was entirely sure where anyone stood and which 'faction' they were aligned with - I managed to co-opt a number of people Unibot thought were on his side, and then in turn had a number of people I thought I had in my pocket act independently. I managed to get Lux elected, but I quickly lost any influence I had over him and with my own leave of absence from NS my limited control over the regions government collapsed. As I've said before many times, Balder didn't develop as I intended it to, but I am very happy with how she ended up and was pleased to discover my concerns over the intent of Rachel and her faction were without grounding.
