Lucid Dreaming

Postby Gaiaopolis » Wed Aug 14, 2013 9:16 pm

I've been reading some things on lucid dreaming and I wish to try it. The problem is, many of them say completely different things. So what's the best way? What's it like? What are some of your experiences?

Generally happens any time you start to be rational within a dream. Shit's pretty dope. In my last experience I fucked Lucy Liu after watching her perform a musical on cocaine, then a black black black broad with braids, then I ate out another black broad in the back of a limousine, then I fucked another chick under the influence of ecstasy. Then I decided to wake up. It felt so fucking real it ain't even funny.

Hmm.. clearly my next lucid dream should involve sex with Lucy Liu.

I can do that and for a while it was pretty constant it's often more fun to just let my dreams do whatever though. Then if they go somewhere I don't like, I just rewind and do it better.

The idea of me having complete control over my reality, even if only in my dreams should frighten you all. :)

Is your dream world one where the trees bear tacos as fruit and there's a mud puddle at every corner?

I am 14 years old and have never experienced the wonders of a lucid dream. FML.
"Maybe it’s not the politicians who suck; maybe it’s something else. Like the public. That would be a nice realistic campaign slogan for somebody: “The public sucks. F*ck hope.” Put the blame where it belongs: on the people. Because if everything is really the fault of politicians, where are all the bright, honest, intelligent Americans who are ready to step in and replace them? Truth is, we don’t have people like that. Everyone’s at the mall, scratching his balls and buying sneakers with lights in them."

I think what's weird is that, even when I am aware of dreaming, what I want in my dreams isn't something I tend to think about in reality. Like sex in a limousine and then ecstasy--that's not something I fantasize about, really. Must be pop culture influence or something.

However, I see your point about letting dreams run their course, because it often gives you a lot to think about and it can be fairly artistic in a surreal way.

For me, either I lucid dream virtually every night and have long since gotten used to and bored of it, or I haven't actually had a real lucid dream. Either way, I don't much care. I always forget my dreams less than five minutes after waking up, so I don't see the point in expending effort on them. If I want to escape into fantasy, I'll just daydream about shit. Then, I have complete control, and I remember it.

If you do them right, they're pretty damn awesome. It only works for me if I go to bed with the thought that I'm going to try to engulf myself in a lucid dream.

However, there can be downsides if you dream about things that are out of reach or unattainable. You get screwed up because while you were lucid while you were doing it, your brain still has a little part that tells you it could happen because it was just a dream, not fabricated (which of course it was).

First off, I'd like to say its very difficult to do when you initially start but it gets easier as time goes on.....The best way is to do 'checkpoints' throughout the day...It is not what you think its like....

99% of my dreams are lucid, but the 1% are unbelievably traumatizing because of the fact that I'm able to control most of my dreams. It's like a once a month happening where the nightmare is a trick to see me manipulate my dream and turn it against me.

Whenever you wake up after dreaming, quickly write down what the dream was about.

Do this for a while until you can notice something that is constantly reoccurring in your dreams. Once you know what that is, every time you see that thing in your dream, you will know that you are dreaming, and you are now on a lucid dream.

I've only managed it once, years ago. I was running from this Scream-like person then these twisters came trough and I realised "we don't get that shit round here" and that's when I took control of my dream and could fly and all sorts. I woke up soon after and have never lucid dreamt since. I'd love to try it but I do love the randomness of some dreams, though, and I wonder if you maybe lose that randomness if you recognise everytime you're dreaming? Would still be interesting though.

This ties into that 7 Second Theory, whereby as you die, your brain enters a dreamlike state for seven seconds. The theory goes, if you recognise you're in this dreamlike state and begin lucid dreaming – recognising, of course, that you're dying – then you can control your dream, slow time indefinitely and, effectively, live forever within that 7 seconds (there being no perception of time in dreams). Pretty sure I read somewhere it's what Inception was based on. Probably all bull. It is the Internet after all... ~_^

Not really.

Your perception of time is different while dreaming.

How different it is, is pretty much dependent on the dream and if you're lucid or not.

Otherwise, it's pretty much random.

I remember a few years ago I had a few lucid dreams that worked in a sequence. It was about a zombie apocalypse, which is stupid I know. It's strange though, I have never felt so desperate or totally defeated in real life as I did in those dreams. I don't know why I made such horrible things happen because I was in control and I could have done anything. I'm not even depressed or anything.
