Dillin Weeks-Informant-20-Augusta, Georgia
"I dont believe we should hand these criminals tanks, but I am sure if we help save their pocket books then we can strike a deal. Perhaps secure offshore accounts? That would place their money outside of the jurisdiction of the Confederacy. And after this is over you can seize the accounts once the Confederate government is restored. We wont be becoming friends with them, this is only out of convenience." I then turned and gave a slight smile. "There is a old proverb. Often used by pirates in the old days. But I think it fits nicely. Take what you can, give nothing back. We will use the criminals as we can and in the end give them nothing. And they will at the same time be trying to use us. And on the surface no one should connect us at all. This should be under the table."

I stepped away and walked near Sanura. "Well, we should be on our way. We have to go eat something. I expect to see you tomorrow when the vote starts in Congress. But that is a forgone conclusion. After it is official we can plan our next moves and in the meantime me and Sanura will contact the local gangs here and see what we can set up."

I walked outside and as I did so I gave Sanura a kiss on the cheek. She then placed an arm around me as we left the condo. We looked like an average couple in the city, because that is what we was. No acting needed. As we left Sanura looked worried. "Do you think we should negotiate with the scum?" I was a little surprised.
"The criminals?"
"Yeah...them."
"Well, as long as we can use them. And we can keep them off of us and targeting the Corporations. That can only help. Why?"
"The criminals of my homeland, while they may use older weapons, are not to be negotiated with. They wiped out entire villages and murdered thousands. It took the military to stop them."
"Well, things run a bit differently here. They are more interested in high profit ventures like drugs and gun and girl smuggling and such. I dont like them any more than you but as long as they believe we can make them profit, we can use them until they are no longer useful." She laughed a bit.
"You are sounding like a pirate yourself." She teased.
"Comes with being a capitalist." I added to fuel the joke.
"Dont worry, this will be over soon and then we will focus on your citizenship." I assured her. She nodded and we walked into a favorite place of mine. The Cracker Barrel.

Kwan Sun-Blood Roses Enforcer-25-Atlanta, Georgia
This would be our first strike on Spartan Security. We were cooperating with the Southside Hoods and G-Kings to wipe out a Spartan Security Office in Atlanta. The Hoods and G-Kings would fire into the office from vehicles in the front while my team of Blood Roses broke into the back door and cleaned out the building in a sweep. No survivors. We were to send a message. And it would be very loud, and very clear. I was using a semi auto shotgun and combat knife. I wore a black bandanna and had my face covered with a blood red shirt and black pants with tattoos covering my arms.

Being a member of the Blood Roses offers you an amount of respect. And being one of its go to enforcers earns you a larger degree of fear. And fear, can be useful. Unlike the larger crime families like the Confederate Triads, Leone Family, Colombian Cartel and Russian Mob, the smaller gangs use fear to control our turf. The larger groups often buy police and officials and even supply business and protection to local civilians to earn their loyalty.

In the Blood Roses a molotov cocktail can get you a lot.

I waited with four other Bloods as we listened for the sound of gunshots. This is an expensive neighborhood so we will know when it happens. It was about five minutes before the first shots fired and we fired into the back down and broke it down as the gunfight ensued. I moved through the halls and it was clear the diversion had worked. Almost all of the armed defenders were to the front of the Office Building.

When I spotted a secretary I fired my shotgun and the mid 20s woman slumped to the floor. Her red hair now being soaked by her crimson blood seeping into the office carpet. Had it been another man, she likely would have been let go. But that is why our boss, David Simmons, comes to me. Because he knows I leave no witnesses. As his lead enforcer I get his most dangerous missions.

And if we did not clear this building quick more Spartan reinforcements would arrive. so I signaled part of my team to clear the upper levels. As I made my way into the main office I did not see anyone. But as I turned around a Spartan turned the corner and fired two shots from his Desert Eagle before my shotgun blast killed him. And I then made my way to the front where three more Spartan Officers were pinned down by the men outside. I lit up a molotov cocktail and tossed it over the counter and in their room.

Trapping them between gunfire and burning flames. I then grabbed cans of gas and soaked the floors and carpets. If the men upstairs were not back as soon as I leave they are on their own. And as I finished and put the cans down the fire spread at a rapid pace. And still no sign of two other Blood Roses. I looked at the two men who made it down and they told me they were clearing the last floor.

"Well, time to go. Spartans will be here any minute."
"What about the others." I lit a cigarette and took a puff as I walked to the back exit.
"Collateral damage."

Catherine Brown-FutureTech CEO-34-Richmond, Virginia
I had just arrived in Richmond and the vote is tomorrow. I am here to make sure that the Confederate Party Congressman backs this like he said. AS CEO of FutureTech I am the only female CEO in the Big Seven. And it was decided I would be the best choice to push this in front of the cameras. I stepped out of the motorcade and entered the Confederate congress building. The carpet floors were of good quality but it is not the marble of the Supreme Court. And to be honest, how good is carpet really? I knew where I was going as the man was owned by my company. We payed for his entire campaign and he owed us. A lot.

When I arrived I sat down and went straight to business.
"Henry West, I am sure you are prepared to deliver the bill tomorrow."
"Well, there has been some complications."
"Such as?"
"An attack on Spartan Security a couple hours ago. Media are already linking this with the Bill. We may not be able to pass this."
"That is a minor setback and isolated case. In fact it is the only time gangs have attacked us directly."
"Yes, but is it a coincidence this happened just after the announcement of the Corporate Takeover Bill?"
"Maybe not, but we will handle that. I just need you to handle your part of the bargain."
"Things have changed, I am risking a lot by supporting this."
"And you have already been well compensated. I trust you are enjoying your newest overseas vacation house. A courtesy of my own company funds."
"And I appreciate it, but if I support this then my district in Texas will hang me."
"And the media will hang you if they were to find out about your under the table income and that pretty mistress you cheat on your wife on in the Five Star Hotel Room just around the block, Texas, hell the entire Confederacy is a very religious community. And adultery is highly frowned upon. What would that do to your next election?" His expression was actively hostile now.
"You are one conniving bitch...you know that?" He said in his texan accent. I leaned across his table.
"Did you think you could enjoy all of those perks and not answer the call when we cashed in? Shameful, dont delude yourself. You never worked for your district or the Confederate people. You work for us. I own you. And dont forget it. Let us work for the people. Thats what they pay us for." I said in a almost evilly civil and calm tone. I had him by the balls. And he knows it.

I then walked out of the office and back to my car. I would need to stay in town and make sure things go well. This will be very interesting indeed.

Room 417, Richmond Spa Town, Richmond, Virginia

She spoke english better than Laszlo and Nikolaj. She spoke english so well, that in the not-so-unlikely event they had been discovered, she could burn her documents and declare to be a British citizen lost or kidnapped, then escaped. That would have worked until the CSA Intelligence decided to verify her identity. By that time, her best option was to be a few step away from a Delusijan embassy, close enough to leap and be saved. She knew, however, that there were no Delusijan embassies inside the CSA, not yet.
She had played in MacBeth at the age of 25, portraying no other than Lady MacBeth herself. An outstanding performance, in plain, perfect, shakespearian english.
And she could pretend to be someone else as well as Laszlo. So, she wondered why that surprisigly good-to-nothing Nikolaij had been brought along.

He did nothing but sit in the sauna, while she acted like a malicious girfriend on vacation. She pricked and teased him, and eventually they had headed back to their room. Now, that he was sleeping exhausted on their incredibly large bed, she had the feeling that he could not remember anything interesting from their day. He looked distant, even dismayed. As soon as they left the aircraft, he could not help but look around in awe and savour with his glance the dangerous, misleading marvels of Consummerist Capitalism. She was enjoying her stay too, cannot lie to oneself, but it was different. She knew that the blatant opulence of that country came with a price: the almost complete lack of social equality. He seemed oblivious about that elementary, self-evident truth.

But she remembered what she had heard that day. She knew something was going on. To be fair, the corporations were not hiding it, but there was indeed some sort of coup; something silent and almost legal: not a revolution, but a trade. The companies were buying the country.
Two men inside the sauna were discussing it quite openly. They were talking about "the Big Seven", "the Bill", "the Vote", and it looked like the whole thing was going to take place tomorrow. One of them, with a big, shiny wedding ring on his finger, was escorted by a stunningly beautiful woman half his age. <<We made a mistake.>> Irina said to herself <<I should have come with Doctor Braagetz and no one else, with a fancy dress and a good beauty-case full of expensive make-up. I could have extracted more informations that way in two hours than this invertebrate>> and looked at Nikolaj, sleeping on her left, knocked out by the pre-arranged yet over his expectations lovemaking <<will do this entire week. And still, it will be too late.>>

Il-38 D-SEEN, ELINT mission, 10 miles south of southern CSA territorial waters

The Nuclear Test had been a great success, despite the mistakes made, such as detonating the warhead at 400 meters above the sea intead of the recommended 800. That error determined an incredibly long fall-out plume, that would have interested for decades the entire aera. But that was not of Major Dmitrij Trabant competence.
As soon as he had landed in Dubrovnikzka, he was given a special commendation, then a shot of vodka, some sleep, then pushed back on the aircraft for another mission.

A rather delicate one. Not dangerous, as he had been told; but delicate and long. He was ordered to patrol the southern border of the Confederate States of America, out of their territorial waters, for 96 hours straight. A Vickers VC-10 would have shuttled between their position adn Delusija, giving them some in-flight refuelling.
The aircraft has been fitted with ELINT hardware and software. They could pick up any kind of transmission powerful enough to reach them, and they had already intercepted quite a few. Unfortunately, their Soviet-made equipment left a lot to be desired. All incoming transmissions should be selected manually, and listened one by one by the freshly graduated radio operators. It could have been done, but it would not have been neither fast nor easy nor as productive as expected.

El Edificio Centro,
La Riqueza Común de Armas por Firmador

Amar was slightly annoyed, the High Emperor had misinterpreted him. He was a proper Firmadores, and his accented Castillian was a dialect of its own. He chalked up to the accent, "There's no full-scale Revolution for the Confederacy, not yet. What I was saying was that if any bold military movement needed to be made, it would have to be from Domestic forces for propaganda purposes. What I was saying, was that we use local agents. I've just received a communique from my top agent in the field, we already have local agents to dispense actions to. What we need, is an assassination, a surrounding of their security forces. This will cause a reaction, a vicious one. They will likely impose curfews, arbitrary arrests that will aggrieve the general population. This will make them sympathetic to the Cause, and angry at the corporate government. My operative tells me the Domestic forces are already beginning a campaign of mis-information." He giggled over the phone, remembering his days in university of vitriolic Socialist tirades in the hallways, the Sood High Emperor probably had similar memories, "They say there is no Leftists in there Colleges!" He paused, "My operative also recommends a... future plan for an apparent Domestic leader." He squinted, reading the small print, "This Dillin Weeks. He is not sympathetic to the Cause, a former mercenary Capitalist gun-for-hire. Eventually, unless he reverses course which is unlikely, owing to the indelible habits of humanity, silence will have to fall on him." He hoped his accent hadn't muttled the communication this time around.

Rebel Secret Headquarters in Augusta, Confederate State of Georgia
11.48 :: 4th Day of Firmadores Intervention

Hours before the election the commander had convened a meeting with the executive and Deacon Leef. He had already sent an encrypted data-link telegram to several unregistered receivers, filtering threw different countries and innocuous instruments, until it finally made it to Amar's gaze. He had tentatively green-lit the 'revolutionary' Dillin Weeks, but actually killing him was considered to be far, far down the line. Unbeknownst to the Wetwork operative their secret think tank was already constructing a plan to have him assassinated by the Criminals and make him a martyr, perhaps for the Progressive Cause. But that was a long way off, and his compatriots, like Senura, would have to be killed to make sure no one that knew him could refute his ideological tendencies. So far research turned up no family, which would work wonders in the easiness department. The commander looked at Leef with his cold eyes, they were all sitting in the same arrangement that Weeks and his girlfriend were. The whole house was sweeped for bugs twice a day, and time consuming act but revolution-wise there was little else to do besides clean.

"This Dillin Weeks, Deacon. What do you know of him?"

"Not much, he and his brown bunny served in Bratislav. They were superior soldiers in their group, that lady took the position a marksmen."

The commander grumbled haughtily, "He is a counter-Revolutionary."

Leef was silent, he knew all too well what that accusation meant. There was nothing he could do, any kind of non-evidenced based defense would get him labelled too. A counter-Revolutionary Wetwork agent, the things that would be done to the first one ever.

"I can see battle has made him a friend. Harden yourself. He will not die today, nor tomorrow. But in several years time, perhaps he can be persuaded, but the Revolution doubts that. He's already begun, so early, the prevarications that characterize a Capitalist. Stay close to him, you may have to do the deed yourself. Now go, I want you both to marshal everyone here for the vote. Then the war begins in earnest." The two left, Deacon's posture noticeable slumped.

Several hours later all twenty-eight agents had come together, some had made contacts with Leftists in the universities (despite Weeks' lies) but their audacity and verve was yet to be tested. They were kept out of the loop, four of the 28 were enrolled, the most school-aged ones. The operatives gathered together, eagerly awaiting the vote. Red cups and drunken games would flavour the day, for tomorrow they could be killed. Estel and Leef were distant, a raucous game of beer pong to their dour left. The door bell rang, one of the operatives went to welcome Senura and Weeks as he locked the many door-fastening devices behind them. Everything was very amiable, even the air, the Wetwork operatives were excellent at keeping their minds hidden, especially when it was plastered with murder and other very evil things. The couple would find themselves showered in affection, the sound-proof condo was bustling with anti-Corporatist colloquialisms. The university recruitment was not lied about, only omission was utilized. The commander would claim to be 'compartmentalization', and there would be no logical recourse but to accept it. Though, gut-instincts always kept the best man alive.

Su'Cheng, Capital of the Soodean Imperium
"Such a plan carries great risks," Emperor Su reminded Amar in a cautionary tone. "If it succeeds, then we will be left in a superior position; the Corporatists will move into the open, and lose popular support in the process. But it could just as easily go awry. The Confederacy, like every country, is bound to have a small Leftist element somewhere, but in general its people look far to the Right. Even if the planned assassinations and attacks are not traced back to Firmador, the threat of fear will lead many to rally behind Corporate strength, fueling the fires of hatred against the 'radical menace.' Political sabotage of this kind can be a dangerous game, as it's impossible to tell how a terrified mob will react until it's too late." He paused, weighing the difficult message he was about to deliver. "As such, the Imperium may have to stand at a safe distance for the opening moves of this uprising. I would gladly take part in a renewed Tet Offensive, but I will not risk stepping into a Bay of Pigs Fiasco."

Augusta, Georgia
It was near midnight when the two agents of the Fifty-First Corps arrived at the given address. Fina, the young woman among them, paid the cab driver from her foreign currency supply, not forgetting the tip that was customary in Capitalist countries where a Cab business took the rest of the fee. Following the older man to the door, she entered a small, musty apartment building, walking up the long flights of stairs to the eighth floor, door 823. She knocked three times, then stood back in the dim, flickering lighting.

After a few seconds, and old, grey-haired man opened the door, still dressed in a worn business shirt. His eyes looked tired behind the large glasses he wore, and in general he had the look of a tired, beaten-down accountant. "Ricardo? It's been a long time since we've met!" Fina said, smiling.

The man smiled back, and nodded. "Come in," he said, stepping to the side and inviting them into the room. "Oh, I have so many interesting stories to tell you about my time at work!"

Amar giggled, this time like a young girl. "You have no idea in how many of these sensitive matters we've taken involvement. Because we've never been found. The Alorianistan's national Socialist defense, 40,000 soldiers from our country died there to protect that Progressive Utopia. A place where everyone is equal. We've freed Ruolnik, advanced the Progressive Cause in Vonver, freeing it from this same corrupt bondage, this only among a great litany, and not to mention our plans to cause gargantuan Left-wing reforms and capitulations in Bratislav. Masalia may not be freed, but she could be made a great battle ground. This time as Verdun, a blood letting and I feel unhistorical success in the tactics here. We'll be using the natives, further draining them of political leadership from war casualties, and replacing them with more moderate alternatives. If they fall in battle or perhaps die from an untimely passing at night is yet to be known." He paused, now expressing the gravity of his words, "I tell you this and more in confidence. Firmador will stand behind the Cause, it has and perpetually will defend the global New Progressive Order. We will never betray the Workers. We will, as well, take the necessary P.R. hits. But I know that Wetwork agent will always die before betrayal."

Dillin Weeks-Informant-20-Augusta, Georgia
Me and Sanura were surprised at even being invited to this 'party' the Firmadors had.. And when we entered I saw some new faces, but something did not sit right with me. Something was...off. But I could not place it. I initially dismissed the thought and poured myself some tea. I did not care for alcohol at the moment. As we have a lot about to happen in the next few days. And I did not want a hangover. Sanura however blended in rather well as I tried to relax. She went to the 'dance floor' and we were both pretty popular at this party.

That was it. Too popular.

That is what I have been trying to place. And what had me on edge. Firmadorans offered me drinks and tried to introduce me to the new guys. And just yesterday they would not even pass a second glance at us other then perhaps Leef. I then stood up and tried to block out the pounding music and pulsing lights and casually made my way over to Sanura. I tapped her should and started to dance with her. As I placed my lips to her ear and spoke to where only she could hear me. As the music and festivities would have blocked all other sound.

"After the song is over I will leave and wait for you in the lobby. Wait five minutes and the follow me down, and we will head home and wait out the vote for tomorrow." She was at first surprised but then as I waited a moment she finally pieced what I was thinking together. Perhaps it was nothing but the sudden change in attitude was odd if nothing else. I considered asking Leef what was going on but he would not tell me anything.

The song ended and another replaced it, a good song by Kenny Chesney. But, I had had my fill. And I made my way to the door and left to the lobby and sat down on a bench. Waiting for Sanura to come in behind me. I looked at my watch and it was 8 at night. When she found me i motioned for her to leave with me and I explained as we walked outside in the warm night weather.

"So, you think they may try and harm us?"
"Not now at least. They need us. And maybe not at all, but think back Sanura. How did they treat us when we were in Bratislav fighting next to them?" She did not take long to answer.
"We were mocked and insulted as mercs."
"Exactly, and how were you treated here by them apart from that party?" Again a no brainer.
"Like a unwanted pest. I still remember the glares and stares." I nodded.
"And I was criticized for being a capitalist and opposing the specific targeting of leftist. Even if not really directly. And now all of the sudden we are guests of honor? It does not make sense. My gut tells me they will kill us after we are no longer useful, they are not really hiding the fact that they plan to install a workers state. And I have openly opposed it. I would not put it past them to put a bullet in me if I let them." Sanura now spoke sharply.
"Then we will fight back."
"No, not yet at least. We need them and they need us. For now. But when this revolution starts and we are able we will put together a Confederate Loyalist resistance. Whose goal is to reinstall our proper and legitimate government. The one we are trying to save. But for now, we will have to work with them."

It was pretty quiet on the way home and when we entered the run down apartment I immediately placed my arms around Sanura and pulled her close. And within moments we had our own kind of party.

Downtown, Richmond, Virginia

Laszlo Braagetz had left his room with Nikolaij, heading for the city centre. They wore their best clothes, two light jackets with matching trousers, and a white shirt. Dusk was near, and a symphony of artifical lights begun to switch on from the base of the buildings to the top. They had no clue of when the sun fell beyond the horizon, because the skyscrapers and malls and casinos and hotles radiated light migthier than that there is at noon.
<<We must find somewhere to enter; a pub, restaurant, or whatever seems to be crowded by rich fellows. Follow the suits. We need to approach a member of this Government or a high rank employee of one of the seven companies involved in the bill. Then, we phone home.>>
<<Yes, Comerade.>> answered Nikolaij.
<<I told you not to call me Comerade, Nik!>>
<<Yes, sorry, Professor.>>
They noticed a casino, outside of which a large number of buisnessmen or diplomats -it was difficult to tell who was who, since they dressed quite like each other- were entering. There was a bouncer outside the door, but it seemed that tourists were allowed in.
They waited in line, and Laszlo tried to concentrate to hear what the man in front of him was saying to a colleague or friend.

Hall, Richmond Spa Town, Richmond, Virginia

The doors opened, and Irina came down the lift. She managed to put together a casual yet smart outfit, to try and do the job Nikolaij had not been doing that day. She looked good, but her glasses gave her a naive, geeky touch: <<I'd better ease my approach this time.>> she thought.
She entered the hotel's bar and scanned the counter. Immediately, she pinpointed the young woman she had seen in the sauna with an older, married man. Acting natural, she walked across the bar and found a seat right on her left. She was about to ask her a suggestion about her drink, but on second thought, it was better to start a conversation with another woman, on Irina's left, opposite of the girl.
They chatted for about five minutes about the beauty of the hotel, their marital issues and how hot the weather was. Then, the other woman left. It looked like few people knew the existance of Delusija itself as a country.
The girl seemed resolute and concerned at the same time. Irina tried to break the ice.
She relaxed and faked an unneccessary Eastern Europe accent, and placed some great compliment about her target's shoes and dress and jewels and hair and makeup, what's your name, I'm Irina, I'm a doctor, how are you, and such casual topics.
Then, swift and accurate as a sharpshooter, she said: <<Look, I don't want to lie to you, but there's another reason why I started this conversation... I couldn't help, but I saw you in the sauna with a man... he is married, right? I am afraid that my belived Nik could do the same with me... please, help me! What can I do to be pretty and sexy and keep him by my side?>>

The woman who sat next to me started to talk about all types of topics. And I conversed with her through the usual. Going through our names, occupations and personal issues. Then She told me how she saw me with the Texan Congressman and how she was afraid her boyfriend would leave her for someone else. It is sad really, but as far as I care all men will leave you if the conditions are right. So, I decided to help her out. What is the harm in it? "Well, most men are content if the can get into the bed sheets with you often enough. But, you could also surprise him by either updating your image or experimenting in bed if he is into that." I then looked her over in the bar light. She is not of a bad figure. And if she knew how to compliment her image she could be very beautiful. I got the idea she payed too much attention to work and not enough on herself or her man. I then turned towards her.

"Well, it is obvious you let your work overtake your image. I mean, this outfit? And you are on vacation? Look, your clothes make your waist look big and they just hang over your bones. They should fit tighter if you want to keep his attention. And your makeup is all wrong. The shades do not do your face justice at all. And your shorts pretty much tel him your one of the guys. You want to wear something that says confidence. Control. And gives him something to imagine for later. A skirt, not too short to say 'Whore' but not too long to say 'Nun'. And your shoes are a tragedy. Sneakers? Come on, small heels at least. We dont want them so big that you are tripping over yourself sober but they will say you take pride in how you look. And one more thing, you hair. It has potential but the way you have your hair tied back it is sooo official and conservative." I then turned to her.

"Look, we girls have to stick together. That's just girl code. That sleaze ball gave me this designer card to buy clothes and such. Here, you can have it. It has C$1,000. I can help you shop later perhaps. And get you a hair cut or something." I then sighed and moved on. "The man you saw me with was a Texan Congressman. I am his mistress, and he 'treats' me. If I treat him. His wife is in Texas and the two are actually on the verge of a divorce. But that was a long time coming. Before I ever got into the picture, but from what I know, it is because the man she married cant keep his hands to himself when the cameras are away. And she had enough." I then pulled a cigarette and lit it up and puffed.

Looking at myself in the mirror I saw my image of a mid 20s woman who had long and well conditioned chestnut hair and passion red lipstick with expensive designer clothes and a leather purse heels matching my cream colored clothing. "Honestly, if your man really wants to leave there is not much we can do about it. Other than kill him. Does he have a good life insurance policy?" I got a strange look and I sighed again. "That was a joke. They dont have a sense of humor in Delusija?" Again she seemed surprised. "Just because I wear red lipstick and heels does not make me an idiot. But I still flunked out of collage. But that is a story for another day." I then decided to change the topic and so I asked her about 'Nik'.

"I saw you two earlier as well. He really does not seem into you. How did you meet?" I then listened for her explanation.

Hall, Richmond Spa Town, Richmond, Virginia

Irina listened carefully.
Girly talk, girly talk, pay attention, nod a little, act surprised, that was actually a good advice, girly talk, girly talk, pay attention, stay focused, act like you cared, how it could be that high heels increase your confidence? Capitalist way of life, I guess. I wonder if in Delusija...
DON'T DARE TO GET DISTRACTED!
Better, focus, girly talk, girly talk, yeah, I could use a new haircut, girly talk, girly talk, girly talk, nod... no, turn the head this time, too much eye contact is fake, what what what? Is she giving me 1,000 C$? Is she giving me 10,000 D£? Fuck, I can't hide my surprise.

<<Oh, thank you! I'll take care of this, I promise!>>

You bet I will, oh yes, I will, smile now, thankfully, smile with your eyes, it'll look sincere, don't think about your car which was worth half of that when it was new.
Girly talk, girly talk, marital problems, girly tal-PING!- Intelligence brain sonar just went off. Texan Congressman? This girl is a gold mine!
Focus, girly talk, girly talk, self esteem issues, hell, I could be a Psychologist too, oh, smoker, she is really really nervous, with her fancy dress and haircut and polished nails, probably a stretched executive car waiting for her, big enough to party hard.
You know what? I am awfully happy of my 1994 diesel Skoda Fabia, my small house and my almost complete lack of headaches and lung damage. This girl must have emicrania on an hourly basis.

Kill Nikolaij!?! Hell, couldn't hide my contempt at that suggesion.
Oh, yeah, a hell of a joke, I'm sorry I forgot how to laugh. Stupid smile now, act dismayed, hey, this girl does have a soul, after all.
A direct question about me and Nik? Should have seen that one coming. But I forgot the whole made up story.
Damn you, Irina! Damn you to hell! You know by memory every Shakespeare play you have starred in! You remember
A Midsummer Night's Dream, you remember Othello, you could stage MacBeth right here, in front of this poor, brutalised beautiful girl, you could even sing the whole balcony dialog from Romeo and Jul...

<<We met at the University.>> she answered at once <<He is a Ph.D in Psychology. At first it was mutual: we were attracted to each other, phisically I mean. Then, my father came to know his last name, and spat flames and fire, since before the foundation of Delusija Nik's father had stolen a piece of land from my father. 4,000 acres of it, in one night, with barbed wire laid from a tractor, then bribing a lawyer to legalise his possession.>>

something similar really happened in 1924, well played, Irina

Our families were mortal enemies. We fought as a couple against all of our relatives, and that strongly bound us. Eventually, our families realised that their war wasn't of any concern to us, and let us go. I remained very fond of him, but he seems to have... settled for the situation. He is all career and study; would you believe this? He brought his Headmaster with us. That's a real blow to our privacy.>>

Good one, Irina; just remember to update Laszlo and the other useless vermin before they utter a single word about this.
I must stick to this girl for as long as I can. I shall try to have the Congressman to dump her and pick me instead.
I'm not really sorry for her, considering how miserable she is feeling now that would be a win-win. Then, I'll ask Doctor Braagetz to change my hotel room, to get some distance from this girl.

But let's do first things first: I must have some contact, something I could read or show to Doctor Braagetz. A business card, maybe? I have some old Teather Business Cards. "
Irina Klavetzkij, first Actress. Sounds good. But this girl is clever, thus might suspect something. She is nothing but a pawn in this game of sex, power and corruption, a pawn just as I was yesterday, but she made it clear: she is not stupid.
I believe her, really. But she might be seeking for some attention, someone who cares.

I'll have a few drinks with her. This girl must be used to fancy drinks and smooth wine, while I used to fuel my saturday nights with vodka.
I'll outdrink her and scavenge for more information. The card first.

<<I don't know how to thank you, for the advice, the card and everything. Take this: this is from when I used to play on stage at Secondary School and University. If you have one, you could give it to me, so I can deposit it to our National Theatre. This way, you can come any day to see any show for free. I could send you next season's program. It's good: whe have Checkov and Shakespeare and Pirandello, Italian, very chic.
So... how's the word... girls'...>> Irina looked at her watch <<evening... out?>>

If she agrees and I catch a glimpse of her Congressman lover, I fucking want a statue in Narodnije Namjestij and a painting in Malo Stran'ja.

Casino, Downtown, Richmond, Virginia

This must be the place.
Life everywhere.
Wealth, freedom to spend your money, freedom to earn as much money as one desires.

I am a Ph.D in Psychology and a super soldier: I would be a God here. And what do I have back in Delusija? A pullover with my name sewed on it, a three by four meters office and a lousy medal.
Damn, Irina, that bitch is a simple Medic and has her own car, while I was given an "unlimited public transport pass". Stinky buses, noisy tramways, shakey trains, leaky ferries and smokey planes.
I spit on it.
I spit on socialism, I spit on equality, I spit on our welfare and on our school system.
But most of all, I spit on Braagetz. He didn't tell me that all my sacrifices would have recieved little to no reward. Great, I got an arranged fuck with a... national hottie, then what? Nothing more.
I spit on you too, Irina.
I want to have some credit, God dammit! I want a big office, a great muscle car, a big house, a boat, and why not? a private plane, a jet plane.
I can work hard, I have always have. My english is good, and I will improve it, losing this sucking brit accent we all have to learn, 'cause it sounds "more professional".
I spit on you, english teacher.
I'm moving out on my own. I shouldn't think about it anymore, 'cause is now or nothing.

Had I had more time and privacy, I would have killed you, Braagetz. I knew you had wronged me since we stepped out of the plane here.
Why didn't you tell us that consummerist capitalism was so good? Did you think I couldn't figure it out by myself?
This time you live, Braagetz, next time I'll see you, I'll kill you with my bare hands. And next time I'll see Irina, I'll make her regret her attitude towards me. If I got it right, one can do anything he likes, as long as he has money to spend.

And I will, Braagetz, you bet I will.

Laszlo came back from the counter holding to fancy cocktails in his hand, heading back to the table.
<<Have some, Nikolaij, but I expect you to get your bloody job done. Nikolaij? Nik? Nik? Where are you? ... NIIIIIIK!>>.
Laszlo looked around, terrified.
<<Excuse me,>> he asked the man on a stool right beside their table <<have you seen my friend? He was right here...>>
<<Gone.>> the man answered <<Something in his head, I'll tell ya.>>
Laszlo screamed in anger, smashed Nikolaij's glass on the floor, drank his own to the last drop and smashed it as well. As he rushed outside, he dropped some big C$ bills on the counter, for the inconvenience.
That was another breech in the "low profile" protocol. Oh, and Nik's disappearance too.

Su'Cheng, The Soodean Imperium

A Tu-114 landed at the International Airport, right there, in The Soodean Imperium Capital City. It was a Narodnije Flokta flight, coming usually twice a week from Doardija, Delusija. This time, though, there were two peculiar passengers: Mr. and Mrs. Shrapnelin.
Both wearing embarassing vacation outfit (while carrying suits, tie and dress into their backpacks), camera hanging from their neck, city map in hand, resolute glare.
They took a bus to the Government's Palace, and jumped off right in front of its gate.
<<Let's see, then.>> said Viktoria Volkov v'Shrapnelin <<I admire your courage, but I hope you realise this could not work.>>
<<I hope it will. I don't want anyone to know about this for not less than a week. Not Firmador, not the CSA, not even Maertz. Our premier is lacking initiative, recently. Let me handle this.>>
Anton Shrapnelin, Delusijan Minister of Defence and Foreign Affairs, pushed a button on the intercom.
<<Good morning, I'd like to speak with Mr. Wen Hong. No, I don't have an appointment; tell him that it is Anton Shrapnelin, he knows me. If not available, would you kindly ask him to schedule one as soon as possible? Thank you.>>.
They waited for an answer.

Secret Rebel Headquarters in Augusta, Confederate State of Georgia
21.16 :: 4th Day of Firmadores Intervention

The two left, visibly shaken. The commander called Leef in, "Did you warn them?"

Deacon stammered, somewhat shocked. He had spent most of the party in seclusion, drinking by himself. "No, of course not. I'm no damned traitor."

"I'll be frank with you, because I respect all veterans." He paused, his head circling around once, "I don't believe you." A flash let out, blood dripping down the seat cushion onto the floor and flowing from the front legs. Former Arms Sergeant Deacon Leef's head dropped down into his chest, his arms that had been comfortably resting on the chair arms fell down into his lap. The shot blew a hole threw the seat, were ever more blood pooled out. Estel walked passed, his mouth agape. The commander stood up, leaving the murderer's pistol on his book table next to Quixote, "Take care of that." Estel followed his orders, weeping when he was well away from the rest of the Wetwork operatives. The group awaited eagerly for the polls, the commander sending a casualty report to Amar.

Su'Cheng, Capital of the Soodean Imperium
The Head of Security looked down at the newcomers from the booth beside the gate, glancing over at the screen beside him as the camera above the gate referenced their faces to the ones in the Delusjian file. As the facial and vocal recognition programs registered a check on Mr. and Mrs. Shrapnelin, the officer nodded and pressed a button on the keyboard, causing the cast-iron bar gate to slide open.

On the other side, a pair of soldiers stood at the ready, leading the Shrapnelins along the short procession to the Palace building itself. The soldiers wore the uniforms of the Palace Guard, dark grey but heavily embroidered with black and gold thread. They even carried long rifles with polished bayonets, traditional weapons that only appeared on ceremonial occasions or in desperate battles. The building's own gates, some two stories high, swung inward to reveal a main hall in the bold, resolute Empire style that had spread through the Soviet Union in the 1930s.

Director Wen Hong sat in a large, decorated office in the South wing, attending to some recent reports out of Themiclesia. He was still getting used to the new office, which had been given to him after Director Ikaro's assassination a few days earlier. Most of the decorations still belonged to his predecessor, such as a set of ceremonial swords and a pistol from the Glorious Revolution; others he had only recently moved in and started to unpack. As a pair of visitors arrived at the door, he glanced up, slightly confused by the tourist outfits. Then he smiled and stood up, his face beaming with recognition. "Viktoria and Anton Shrapnelin of Delusia, I see," he announced, walking over to shake hands with the new arrivals. "What brings you to my Office?"

Emperor's Office, Su'Cheng
Emperor Su shook his head, aware that the movement wouldn't show up over the phone. "Listen, President Amar. I understand that I cannot persuade you to abandon this operation, but I must at least remind you to use the utmost caution with every step you take. Your nation is strong and its spirit is fierce; but once a wrong step is made, the size of your force becomes a burden rather than an asset. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have other pressing issues which I must attend to in the meantime." With that, he hung up, and rose from his desk.

Dillin Weeks-Informant-20-Augusta, Georgia
Today is the day. The vote. And the end of Constitutional and Responsible government. But the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Jefferson, a famous southern statesman. I was a fan. I slid out of bed and placed my head in my hands and Sanura slid behind me. She placed her arms around me and I mimicked the movements. And she placed her head on my shoulder where her lips were next to my ear. "So...you want to head back to the Firmadorians?" I pondered it a while. We may stop by for a bit. But I want to get some space. Keep them at arms length so we can see it coming when they try and back stab us." She then sighed and rolled back onto the spring mattress.

"We still dont know what they will do." She tried to be optimistic about it.
"That is what scares me. And my instincts tell me to stay away. So, soldiers listen to their gut." She then mumbled that being true and I stood up and placed a clean shirt over myself and she slid out of the sheets and put some clothes on. I peeked around and caught just enough before she threw a pillow at me. Playfully telling me to keep my eyes to myself.

"Well, we should get going." I repeated as I grabbed my M9 and knife. I wont go anywhere near them unarmed. Their fanaticism is almost as bad as these criminals greed. Worse actually. You can reason with greed. We left the apartment and I made my way to the Firmadors as I looked at my watch. The results are expected this evening and the vote can take all day. However as we reached the condo something felt off. I walked into the room and looked around. And the mood was again different. And then I noticed it.

Leef was gone.

I asked about him and I received some answer on how we was redeployed somewhere else. And it sounded like bull to me. It must have been the Commander. And if I am right...if Leef is dead...then I will be leaving. I started to walk back to the door and when one asked about me I mumbled how I was going to get information on the vote.

In short I lied. Like they lied to me. When Sanura saw me in the lobby I told her to walk normally and not to look back.

"What are we doing Dillin?" She asked in a rising voice. Showing some worry.
"We are leaving....I believe Leef is dead." She was silent for several moments and then asked.
"Can you prove it?" I almost snapped.
"You know I cant prove it. But he is just missing all of a sudden and gets redeployed overnight? I cal Bull."
"So what is the plan? We are going to a meeting. With the Gangs here."
"Are you kidding me? Those snakes?"
"Better an honest snake than a lying one. And we can use them. Just until we can get a proper resistance up."
"I hope you know what you are doing...Dillin." I then gave a smile that tried to hide my nervousness.
"So do I."

I had some savings with me. 10,000 to be exact. This should get me an audience with the local Gang leaders. In this underworld of the Confederacy. Money talks. The money was in a bag I had strapped around my back and I figured it would be useful today. I was right. I then made my way to the south side of Augusta and found the location of the G-Kings base of operations in the area. I chose them as they are less likely to kill me for sport. An enforcer stopped me and brandished a shotgun. He and a couple others circled us and started to question us.

"So, you are either lost. Or stupid. Which is it?" I then made my move.
"We have money." One laughed.
"Who says we need your change?" But I pressed it.
"10K. Just to allow us to speak to who is in charge here." It was now or never. And they took the bait.
"OK, we will see about getting you your meeting. But that does not mean they wont decide to shoot you anyways."

They then left and I could tell Sanura was wondering if I made the right choice.

And so was I.

<<First of all,>> answered Anton <<my wife told me she asked your presence here or in Delusija for an informal visit, thus we came.>>
<<Indeed, Comerade Wong, it is a pleasure to see you again.>> she echoed.
He continued <<Secondly, I'd like to give my condoloscences for your predecessor, Comerade Director Ikaro. I have never met him, but I aknowledged that it was he who sent you in Musrum for the International Conference upon Masalia.
And last, but not least, wind has changed. It has changed in such a way that blew most of my documents away from my desk. Our nation is now bigger and richer, our army is more powerful than in Bratislav. Had the war struck now, we could have brought a more valuable support... but this is the past, Comerade Wong, at least for Delusija.
The present is somehow more... concerning. You know for sure what is going on in the Confederate States of America. Blimey, now that I think about it, it would be silly on my behalf to suppose you haven't got any intelligence deployed there, but I'm not going to ask you that, you can tell me at your discretion.
We have been called by Firmador. They suggested to send someone to have a look around and we did. This morning, Doctor Laszlo Braagetz, a part time member of our...>>
<<Comerade Wong already knows him.>> interrupted Viktoria <<He was with me in Masalia, remember, sweetie?>>
<<Right, right,>> he continued <<anyway, Doctor Braagetz sent me an SMS from the CSA:

The hotel is beautiful, the weather is fine. Here are some suggestion for your summer playlist, Anton:
The Scorpions, Album "Crazy Wordl", track 4 and track 11
Boris Alexandrov, Red Army Choir, Best of, track 6
Depeche Mode, Music for the Masses, track 4

These tracks are respectively: Wind of Change, meaning something is going on, Send me an Angel, meaning reinforcements, Bjelarmija, meaning capitalist escalation, and the fourth is Sacred, that I'm still trying to decipher.
It's not like we don't trust Firmador, in fact they have sent six of their techincians to help us build our first Nuclear Power Plant, fifth generation, modern and clean, ant to conduct our Nuclear Test a few days ago; however, as far as we know them, they seem to be... impulsive. Think about Bratislav: they didn't attend the Peace Conference, but as soon as war broke out... snap, they're there with a lot of weaponry. Fighting for the Nationalists! The Kothigran Civil War, same thing.
No one knows we are here. Not our Premier, not my relatives, not our agents in Richmond.
Before I order any further action in the CSA, I wanted to talk with you.
I can't say to be a close friend of yours, but you have proven to be trustworthy.>>
<<Enough with the captatio benevolentiae, Anton.>> interrupted Viktoria <<Comerade Wong, we would like to ask you: what is your policy about this issue? We'd rather not begin a cold war, let alone an open conflct. What do you, or your Emperor think about this?>>
They sat and waited for Wen Hong's answer.
It was time to set diplomatic links with the Imperium; they had waited too long.

Il-38 D-SEEN, ELINT mission, 10 miles south of southern CSA territorial waters

Phone calls, e-mails, SMSs, too vague to be valuable. The real discussions were held inside buildings, behind close doors, without electronic devices in operation. All they knew was that a large number of influent CEOs had been holding a meeting in Augusta, Georgia.

TWEET – TWEET – TWEET

<<There it goes again!>> said Major Trabant, much to his frustration. The outer starboard fuel pump was faulty. Nothing to be afraid off, had it been the first time it happened, but it was the second. They were already using the auxiliary pump. Major Trabant switched to the main pump, giving some temporary relief to the aux system.

TWEET – TWEET – TWEET

One more hour. One more hour before another plane could take their place. D-SEEM was flying over Mexico, FL 310, heading 086. One more hour, then eight more before they could touch the ground back in Delusija.
<<Come on, old firend.>> Trabant said to his aircraft <<Keep us in the air, will you? I'd rather smash you into the sea than land inside the CSA.>>

Cocktail Bar, Richmond, Virginia

Mojito, Daiquiri, Tim Collins, Cuba Libre, Screw Driver... fruit and pop beverages truly go along with alcohol. You are feeling fuzzy, Irina, this means she's between tipsy and drunk and ready to open up a little.

<<So, how is your lover doing? How does the Congress work here?>>

There she goes.

Irina had some trouble believing that story. The Government itself was eager to give more power to the companies. The seven biggest companies of the CS, to be specific.

That's bad; if Ice Cream Stands were involved, I would have endorsed such a takeover, 'cause I'm incredibly pro-icecream. Exspecially in winter, when it gives the right amount of calories that might just save you from hypothermiFOCUS!!!

Her lover was lobbying to promote a bill that would have given to the Corporations the right to run law enforcement and the army. There had been a problem, though. A criminal gang had attacked the offices of Spartan Security.
Small troubles, she said. The bill would have been voted favourably the very next day. Irina was a little shocked, as the girl claimed to have had a big role in the whole matter.

Interesting, she is pro-wild-privatisation. Did he bring her to the Congress? No, she might be working for one of those companies. Blackmail, maybe? He's married after all. He's also not here. That's half a shame. I could have extracted some valuable intelligence from him, but stealing an already stolen man? Maybe later. Don't worry, Irina, there's plenty of rotten fish in this corrupted ocean. The Ocean of Corruption, by Irina Klavetzkij, Narodnij Divod'la, Premiere, the audience giving a standing ovaFOCUS, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!

Irina could not help but notice that the girl was tougher than she thought, and could still walk. She bounced off the stool without balancing her hand on the counter, and invited Irina to a session of wild, wild shopping.

Why not? After all, I am doing Nik's job, I should have Nik's privileges.

The boutiques were open until late night. Irina savoured a lustful orgy of money and overpriced goods. Short silk dress, light grey, and why not a black tailleur, to highlight her pale Delusijan skin? Black hair, black eyes, rare and beautiful, but weird and somehow scary if not surrounded by the right makeup. Perfumes: perfumes as it rained flowers from the ceiling.
And a haircut. A brand new haircut, with crome-plated scissors and heated irons to curl her straight hair.
At the end of her journey, she was placed in front of a mirror as wide as the wall, a single piece of silvery glass.

Is that you, Irina? You're still not as "capitalist-stile" hot as your new freind, but you look good. You look so good you could really get some great intelligence starting tomorrow. Where would you strike? Where could you find some prey? I'll aks Doctor Braagetz, he'll know. Back to the hotel, then, let's see if he is able to identify me.

Room 415, Richmond Spa Town, Richmond, Virginia

The light was off, as Irina entered Laszlo's room. He was sitting on the armchair, smoking one cigarette after another, his face resting on his arm.
<<Laszlo, I have...>>
<<Nikolaij has fled. I should have seen this one coming.>>
<<What did he...>>
<<Defection, treason, call it however you like. I was so upset I sent the wrong message to our Defence Minister. I sent another one with the right code song, Never Let Me Down Again, meaning Treason, but still...>>
<<What do we do now?>>
<<I have no idea. He'll blow our cover. He'll reveal our mission. We have no time to rush to the airport. We'll be arrested and tortured, then killed. I'm really sorry, Irina, you shouldn't have been involved...>>
She switched on the light.
<<What the hell?>> he yelled.
<<This,>> she answered, and highlighted her body and outfit <<could be our ticket out of here. But I'd rather don't, Comerade Braagetz.>>
<<Don't call me...>>
<<Bullshit, we are alone, and I've been neck deep into this capitalist pile of manure all day long. I've tasted the pleasure of having a lot of money, Comerade, but I am not weak as that teacherous vermin. You are in danger, Comerade, but I have a plan. Today I have collected some valuable intelligence and the right way to get more. I have no fear, Laszlo. I will scout the city for a rich businessman, as close to the top as I can get, and I'll work my way through his gonads towards the brain.>>
<<That is brilliant of you,>> he said, sadly <<but we can do nothing. They'll know why we are here.>>
<<No, they won't. You see, Nik is crazy.>>
<<No, he's not.>>
<<Yes, Comerade, he is mad, batshit crazy.>> Irina concluded, and winkled <<You can diagnose him. You are a Psychologist, after all.>>
<<You, my dear,>> he answered <<you bring back my hope. Comerade Klavetzkij, give me my phone. I'm calling Nik's parents to tell them he's missing. That in the past few days he acted funny. That he threatened to beat you.>>
<<Good one, Comerade. Could you please pull my hair a little? I'll mess up my makeup, to make it look more realistic.>>

Tiger Police Headquarters, Richmond, Virginia

Nikolaij pushed the intercom button and tidied up his collar.
<<Good night; I am a spy from Delusija. I ask for polytical asylum and an employement in exchange of my services and intelligence.>>

Way to go, way to go. Wealth and women, here I come!

"While I'd love to say that we stand ready to oppose the Capitalists at all costs, I'm afraid that the current situation holds us back," Director Hong said. "Currently, our military forces are overextended, and Military Director Saigo's attention has been focused almost exclusively on an uprising in Themoclesia which could demand the attention of our entire Expeditionary Corps. As it is, a state of war would be impossible even under the current circumstances, as it's essentially a question of 'the Devil we know and the Devil we don't.' Think about it; even if we manage to force back the Corporatists, the Confederacy will remain in the hands of a small, divided minocracy, and it will only be a matter of time before the Private Sector works its corrupting tendrils through the system. No; currently, our official policy is to watch the situation with caution, and take action as it develops. We cannot afford to mobilize troops, as a foreign threat would only lead more people to rally behind Corporate power. Nor can we send any more agents, as our nation has very little specialty in espionage. But if a chance to move arises, we may take that chance."

Director Hong then glanced back and forth as though to check that nobody else was listening in. "As for Firmador, the truth is that we seem to share some of the same suspicions. They may be Socialist, that much is true, but they are a very different kind of Socialist from what you will find in the Imperium. So far, it is as you say; they have been rash, impulsive, and at times brutal. We have fought beside a similar nation in the past, and we nearly lost our entire force when they launched a pair of tactical nukes at the enemy in front of us. So, while we have not gone so far as to cut relations, we must advise you to treat them with caution, lest they make a dangerous decision in your presence. In fact, I might even suggest- "

The Director was cut off mid-sentence as the double doors to the room swung open and a tall, thin man in a dark grey military uniform walked in. "Ah! These must be the guests from the People's Republic of Delusjia," he said, bowing curtly to each of them and shaking hands. "I am Su Dou, the Supreme Emperor of the Soodean Imperium. I was told that you have an important diplomatic matter to discuss?"

These must be the guests from the People's Republic of Delusjia," he said, bowing curtly to each of them and shaking hands. "I am Su Dou, the Supreme Emperor of the Soodean Imperium. I was told that you have an important diplomatic matter to discuss?"

Anton Shrapnelin looked at the man who entered the room. His posed, delicate figure emanated autority at an astonishing rate, which invested the Shrapnelins like a blast wave.

<<Indeed, Comerade Emperor.>> he answered.
Viktoria, his wife, thought about Anton's words.

Comerade Emperor. Some materialists -such as our Premier- would call this a contradiction. I call it an oximoron; a figure of speech used by poets to describe such conflicting concepts.
Comerade Emperor. One day I'll write a book on this meeting, and I'll title it
Comerade Emperor.

She bowed before the Emperor. She whispered to her husband, not really used to bowing: <<Anton, you are doing it wrong. That would be good on stage. Come on, love bunny, arms straight along your waists. Good.>>
Anton continued: <<I was asking Comerade Director Hong about his – and your – feelings about the Confederate Issue. I'm willing to share our intelligence on this matter.>>
He was still standing. He knew there was some sort of protocol to observe in presence of the Imperium's Head of State, and he was resolute to make a good impression before his would-be allies. He waited to see what Wen Hong was doing.
Meanwhile, he went on: <<But first, let us talk about our common yet strange ally, Firmador. It was pure chanche that we did not face them in war, twice, Comerade Emperor. Comerade Hong was about to suggest us a feasible policy that could help us prevent a flail-of-the-tail (OOC: surprise backstab) and keep them as... not enemy at the same time. We have currently six Firmador's technicians in Delusija, four civil and two military.
Now, please, look at this postcard.
Narodnij Hotel, Malo Stran'ja, Doardija, Delusija
Image

This is a hotel inside the Old City od Doardija. All our embassies are located in the citadel. It would be a honour for us to provide this half of the building, right above the mill, for an ambassador of yours. You could either bring a car from here or enjoy our modest but efficient public transportation.
Now, for what we know about the CSA...>>
He told them about the Coroprate Takeover, the bill, the possible trade/coup; he told them about their three agents (the SMS with news of Nikolaij's defection had yet to arrive). He told them about the ELINT Il-38 aircraft, and asked for interesting frequencies and areas where scavenging for intelligence would have been fruitful.
<<That is about it, Comerade Emperor, Comerade Director. Now, I'm all ears.>>

"I would be honored to accept your offer of an embassy in Doardija," Emperor Su replied as he calmly strode over to the Director's table. "I can make arrangements to transfer Diplomatic Speaker Miroslava there, once his current journey is over. In exchange, I can offer you a similar site here in Su'Cheng. The building was set up as a site for a future embassy, but has yet to be put to use. It's already equipped with the basic equipment your officials might need, though you're free to bring anything else to supplement that. I believe there's a picture of it somewhere here..." the Emperor searched through one of the filing cabinets on the side wall, then pulled out an old site poster and presented it to Mrs. Shrapnelin.

"As for Firmador," Director Hong added, "they present a more serious question. Needless to say, there's no need for us to do anything that would classify them as an enemy; after all, that would only make us guilty of the same hasty judgement which we might expect from them."

"However, that doesn't mean we must lower our guard at the same time," Su Dou continued. "Their President apparently has great faith in his nation's "Wetwork" operatives, and has informed me that he is planning to stage something along the lines of a popular revolution in the Confederacy. If worse comes to worse, they may attempt to stage a major covert operation against you, so you must warn your nation's agents at home and in the field. In particular, you may want to perform a thorough search of your new nuclear facilities, to ensure that the Firmadores haven't left behind any... devices... for future use in sabotage operations. Other than that, all we can do now is sit back and watch, making our decisions as the situation unfolds."

As he finished speaking, Su Dou found himself thinking back to Anton Shrapnelin's words. Comrade Emperor - that had been his title a few decades ago, shortly after the Glorious Revolution in which he freed the Imperium from Corporate oppression. It was a title that brought back memories of leading guerrilla attacks in the cold winter, and watching his fledgeling nation grow from the ashes of occupation. The feeling of nostalgia passed over and through him, giving him a slight chill.

Anton Shrapnelin sent an SMS back in Delusija. <<Your advice has been of great help to us; I appreciate it. My position will be similar to yours: we will watch and react accordingly to how the situation escalates. Here...>> he drew a small, double-folded piece of paper <<is a token of our trust. This is a code that will allow you to communicate with our ELINT aircraft, just in case. They are two lines from Giuseppe Verdi's adaptation of MacBeth.

Malcolm: Ove s'è fitto/l'usurpator?
McDuff: Colà, da me trafitto!

(where has the usurper gone?
There, impaled by me.)

Strong words, easy to learn, exspecially if you know the play. It's the old "learn and burn". One day, we'll invite you in Delusija, and you will savour our National Theater. One day... when this will be over, one way or another.>>
<<Now, excuse us.>> said Viktoria <<We must check in at our hotel before someone suspects the true nature of our visit. Good bye Emperor, good bye Comerade Hong. In two days, we will warn our government that we might pay you an informal visit. We cannot hide our real motivations forever, but we have bought our agents some time.>>

Pozdemnij Atom'nij Zavoda, Underground Nuclear Plant, Delusija

Kurt Palachin, Engineer, freshly graduated, Minister of Power Production, complied with the new order he had been given. He shadowed Gusto and Fields, the nuclear phisicists from Firmador all over the almost completed plant. He thought that his government's fears were redundant, since both of their guests had been searched the very day they arrived in Delusija.
All the inspection he had ordered that day did not reveal anything.
But he complied, not complained. Better safe than sorry.

1, Narodnije Namjestij, Doardija, Delusija

From: The Ministry of Defence and Foreign Affairs of Delusija
To: Firmador

Once again, we would like to thank you for your valuable help throughout out Nuclear test and the current Nuclear Plant construction site. This will help us enter a new era of clean, cheap energy and stronger diplomatic footprint at the same time.
The task of Mr. Fresko and Mr. Roste is complete. They are about to board an international flight to Firmador, carrying their belongings and an approoved copy of our test results report, plus their own copy.
As for Mr. Gusto and Mr. Fields, their Visa will be prolongued until the Powerplant's inauguration.
Your high officials will be invited at the ceremony. Stand by for a definite date.

Il-38 D-SEEN, Dubrovnikzka, Delusija

<<You are coming nice and steady... mind the 2 knots crosswind... we confirm touchdown.>> said the Control Tower of Dubrovnikzka to Major Trabant.
The plane was nice and stable, but a three engine landing should never be underestimated.
<<I want the entire starboard wing fuel plant replaced.>> he said to the ground staff.
<<In four days?>> they answered <<Impossible. The shipment alone takes two days, two more days of tests, leaving exctly minus half a day for assembling. We can replace both pumps by that time.>>
<<Then replace all the pumps.>> snapped back Trabant <<when one fails, the others follow fast.>>
<<Ok, Major, it will be done.>>

Tourist Port North of Novaja Kaliningrad, Delusija

A schooner left the harbour, heading east. The route was long, the mission even more.
The ELINT aircraft were extracting only a handful information, while it was clear that the situation was escalating quickly. The mizzen mast of the Schooner was in reality a 30 meters high structural ELINT/Radio passive antenna.
Five more ships as that were already on their way to the Gulf of Mexico. ELINT, however, was only a secondary mission. It was quite clear that the life of the three Delusijan agents could be at danger, and the possibility that the CSA or whatever it wouldhave become would have suppressed flights to and from Delusija had been well understood.
The question was: had they had been threatened, could they either steal a boat or swim for twelve miles while pursued?

Dillin Weeks-G Kings Hideout-Augusta, Georgia
I was waiting for seventeen minutes before I met anyone. And not what I expected. Two young criminals one man and one woman. And one G King and one Blood Rose. The G King was a woman. Young, my age most likely. She had long black hair with a beanie and sun glasses that were propped up on her forehead. A tank top and tight leather pants decorated her body and tattoos, a belly ring and a pistol finished the picture. The Blood Rose was African Confederate and was tall, about 6'2 and wore a jacket that sported the red and black gang colors. Those combined with his black jeans and he did not carry a weapon. My guess was they were just middlemen. And then a third figure appeared and he was another G-King. Bald with a beard and multiple rings on his nose, ears and two piercings above each eyebrow. And he sported a unbuttoned green silk shirt. bare tattooed chest and a Uzi. The woman spoke first.

"You know...I am wondering what you hope to achieve here. You bring us spare change and expect us to cut some sort of deal?" She said. Leaning up against the wall still gripping her chrome pistol.
"No, I expected to buy a few minutes of your time. I am sure C$10,000 is worth five minutes." I said with a smile. I needed to appear in control. She then laughed but conceded the point.
"So, what really is 10 grand worth to us? And what does a fool and his bitch have to offer us?" She taunted, clearly she felt to be in a superior position.
"That change is worth a hell of a lot more than your entire gang once the CEO's get finished with you." Then the smile left her face and the other G King with an Uzi walked over and put his fist in my face. I fell backwards out of the chair and hard on the concrete floor. Blood dripping from my lip. Then he picked me up and slammed me against the wall. And a sharp pain leaped into my back.
"What the hell did you say homes?" I grunted and then the lady told him to back off. I collected myself and sat back down. I had told Sanura whatever happens not to intervene.

Then the Blood Rose man spoke.
"Again, what the hell can you offer us that we cant get? And I suggest you answer honestly or Jose will put a bullet in your kneecap." I popped my back and then spoke and wiped some blood off my face.
"When these CEO's get into power. And they will get into power. They are going to hit you where it hurts. Because your business...is bad for their business. And what I can offer. Is a way to save your organizations a lot....of money. I dont want these Suits running things anymore than you do. So, I propose we work together. To make sure that these CEO's cant steal all of your hard earned savings." The lady seemed half way interested. The temper man thought I was full of shit.
"Keep talking." She said.
"Well, if you allow us. We can have your money moved to offshore accounts. In..." I had to think about it. Firmador would not cut it anymore. "Kambana. There is a lot of corruption in that developing African nation and we can make a few donations to make sure the money stays safe outside of the Confederacy's jurisdiction. And in return you supply weapons and some manpower until we can gather our own."
"And what exactly do you plan to do?" I then developed a crooked grin a mile wide.
"Same as you lady. I am going to war with the Big Seven." I then leaned back and eyed the three.

"So, am I worthy?" They looked at each other and then the Blood Rose stepped forward.

"This has to go upstairs. But for now....you are in."

Jason Vale-Tigers Policing HQ-Richmond, Virginia
I had just gone over some reports of successful ops when I got an unusual request. It seems we have a...spy? Well, I told them to send him up and if I believe he is genuine I will let him in. If he is telling the truth, then spies dont just blow their cover. So we can use him. And depending on how useful he is...he can go pretty far in my company. As the youngest of the Big Seven and in control of the newest company in that category my business, while smaller than the others is making both a name and a profit by serving and protecting the wealthiest and most exclusive celebrities in the Confederacy and abroad. Our services in two years have gone from unknown to begged for. And now we just need a little extra influence.

I have short dirty blonde hair and a black shirt with a vest over it with the logo of Tigers Policing sewn in gold thread. The logo is a tigers head with a 'T' on the left side and a 'P' on the right. I stood up and leaned just slightly against my desk and took a sip from my cup of coffee as I waited for him to appear. My office was a large rectangle shape going longways. When he finally made his way into my office escorted by a secretary I stood straight and approached him.

"Now, they tell me your name is Nik? Well Nik...I am going to start off by saying that if you are wasting my time. Then you wont like the outcome. But, if you are the genuine article. Then we can do business." I then picked up my cup of coffee again. "Now, I will assume what you are telling me is true for the moment and allow you to prove your story in a few minutes. I suppose you came to me because you know of our reputation. If that is the case then you will earn ever cent we pay you. And we pay well. You want things? Am I right? Everybody wants something. You want affluence? You will have it here. Extravagance? With what we pay you can buy that yourself. Status, profits hell even women and most of all....respect. You work for my company. In time you will have all of this. How fast you go and how successful you are is all up to you. But, I am obligated to tell you that there are dangers to this job. As we are a security firm for people who often have no shortage of enemies. And...if everything about you checks out. Then you will be assigned a partner and you will be a full member of the company." I then walked over to him and we were mere feet away. Still gripping my coffee.

"Now, what can you offer me and my company?"

Alice Jennings-Pro Corporation Rally-Richmond, Virginia
The vote would be decided in a few hours. And I was again on PR Duties. But this time it was easier. As all I had to do was show up. There is a pro corporation rally in front of the Congress and I was out on the front lines of the media war. Earlier I had answered questions and provided statements from Spartan Security. But that was it. And I was under guard this time. I did not feel like I needed it but the order came from the top. Assaults on the employees make us look bad. And I dont disagree.

I scanned the crown of literally thousands and this rally covered the cameras and news stations. Inside Richmond, everyone cant wait to get rid of the current Congress. But outside and in other states we believe their is more resistance to the idea. And overall the polls are pretty close. And some states have even threatened to secede if the vote passes.

I could not believe it. After all of this. They would leave the Confederacy over a few corrupt politicians losing their jobs?

It just makes no sense. But as I sat of the platform where various supporters of the takeover gave speeches I decided to mingle with the crowd a bit. So I got up and shifted my way through the people. Maybe I will get me a soda at the concessions.
My RP Nation is the Islamic Republic of Alamon

The Confederate States of America
5th Day of Firmadores Intervention

The three men had been tailing the dark-skinned Senura and her ex-mercenary boyfriend for a long time at this point, constantly rotating men not to be recognized and primarily using the binoculars and much further placed foot assets to co-ordinate the observing equipment. On occasion a long-range sound detector was used but due to them often moving or stopping in large crowds it had yet to reap any real benefit. Once they landed outside the unscrupulous looking complex it wasn't long before, too short to set any extra equipment up, they entered the building. The guards were also scanned, the untrained fools were only intimidating to anyone without any kind of formal training, but all that was gained was a healthy respect for the southern obscenities. Estel, this time on duty, radioed to the Commander, "They've entered a building. Seems they're going along with that gang thing you mentioned, like minds and all." The Commander had a distaste for Estel's loquacious behavior.

"I'm sending in six more guys. They've got heavy equipment, and spares. Be prepared, an hour from now they may be sawing off your arm to betray the Cause. Do not dishonor and harm your family. Pass it on to the men." The radio went static, grabbing for extra words. The coldness of the outfit set into Estel's new bones, he had yet to stop seeing the errant visual movie of his old friend. His dreams called back Leef.

Six men, in two seperate sedans moved out. They had used the condo garage to add hydraulic fluids and a domestic system that kept their heavy load of guns, four AK-74s and two RPG-7s each, from dropping the car's rear bumper low enough to the ground to cause suspicion. In fact, it was at factory height with all the weapons stashed. The men took ten minutes, inside the two were still discussing with the gang. The Wetwork operatives had yet to put out a hand to this particular group, though it had to several others. Always keeping any origin secret, though it was a business where information was kept to a minimum so that would not cause an alarms to be rung. In fact, the Commander had already made a deal with a gang for guns and they going to send two men to deliver them in the mountains, away from prying police and nosy people. They parked three blocks down, off from any street facing exactly line of sight from the building's and its area's surveillance. Three of the men picked up three AK-74's disassembled each and hidden in luggage cases, a single RPG-7 stuffed into them for two more people. The last man guarded the getaway cars, all he had in immediate reach was a snub-nosed .38 in the small of his back, he leaned onto the car facing towards the side-walk. Not looking anyone in the eye as they passed.

The man with the only one AK-74 in his luggage case took to the top floor once they closed into a block away, the whole way taking a long diversion so the complexes guards' couldn't see. All together they looked like people returning from vacation, the six men on the ground coalesced in an alleyway just five houses away. The singleman, an adroit veteran marksman, had gotten the doorway zeroed in one his weapon's sight. One of the men on the ground ordered two of his cohorts to the back, their AK-74s stashed away very close in a pile of garbage. They would inform his men if Weeks came out the back, and they would reposition or call off the attack. Meanwhile Estel was zooming in, getting some recon on the complex's layout, patrol patterns and apparent number of guards. The gangbangers outside were busy chatting away about 'easy hood rats' and such, talking in a very degrading way about their women. The Commander would have loved to hear about this being the same culture that sent their women to fight, die and get raped in the battlefield. But he did not get the chance.

After he had killed former Arms Sergeant and Operative Deacon Leef he got to work on taking out the counter-Revolutionary, and the people he possibly told about Firmador's involvement, except the darkie he had obviously placed too much trust in, the Commander set to work contacting the most disreputable of the gangs. At a payphone well away from the HQ he made his proposition to a member of the Russian Mafia, whom gladly accepted. It was a big job, and it costed the Firmador command 1.5 million upfront with 3.2 at jobs' end. Of course, they expected universal success, or else the rest wouldn't be paid up. The money was dropped outside a dump of a Chinese place, the stench of putrid disease-bearing old chicken flushing out any idea of a hidden treasure. Less than an hour later several Russian mob cats picked up the rancid juiced bags. Each one packed to the brim, the money would be right after they counted it on a machine. Capital always made an enterprise more efficient. The hitmen came out in droves not soon after.

A shiny black Cadillac rolled up to the Weeks' residence inside Savannah, Georgia. The retired couple, Mary and James Weeks, were the grandparents of that Dillin Weeks, the bloody counter-Revolutionary. They were a low-probability target, but thorough was thorough and the Wetwork department was arrantly thorough. The three mobsters kicked down the door, the deaf couple was in the upstairs bedroom and didn't hear anything. The grandfather, with a trophy set of loaded shotguns in a glass display case was a proud hunter and fisherman from the day. His bones tingled, standing still as his sixty-six year old wife questioned him. He told her to shush, and she did obediently. Floor boards creaked, he went for the display case as the first mobster kicked down the door and shot the woman he had married, killing her instantly. He turned, flicking the safety instinctively and blew up the point man. The second guy charged in, the old man breaking his hip and he turned the rifle, shredding bits of bone of the second mobster's arm disabling him. Wrenching in pain the third gun man shot him to bits, putting a bullet in the head of all four people other than him. He left the mess and escaped before the police arrived.

David and Rachel Weeks were next, though their assassinations were carried out with much less event. They were both killed in the middle of the night with silenced pistols, the police had not yet arrived as Dillin Weeks sat in his meeting with the gang. His cousin, strangled with a piano wire and his body thrown into a poor neighborhood where his corpse was picked clean by the residents leaving him naked in the streets before anyone had the nerve to call the police. Bodies were building up everywhere and the Augusta Police Department was in an uproar, how could such unrelenting chaos be going on in their town, the home of the PGA Mastercup? Later on in the day, an hour after the cousin Brian was strangled Dillin's father Josheph was shot as he took his first steps back home from work in Shreveport, Louisiana. His mother was killed as she got off from her long night shift, still wearing he uniform in the final seconds. None of the hitmen had been captured, the only two killed by the Grandfather in Savannah.

Nathan Weeks celebrated a recent new personal record in his Stock Car driving and held a rather rambunctious party, a Russian sniper lining up his telescopic rifle sight with Nathan's sniper's nut. The Russian fired from less than half a click away, his bullet aimed at his head. It was an extremely well maintained Mosin Nagant, which was noted for its invaluable service in the mountains to the modern day. Even the Kar 98k's bolt design which is still used in most top-quality hunting rifles did not earn it a significant place in today's warfare. Amanda Weeks was attending school in Augusta, so her dorm was not considered an option. The police were simply too close for the hit to be carried out without a heavy jail sentence (part of what the Mafia had been paid for was to off those captured). Luckily she too attended a party at a friend's off-campus house, having drunkenly called Nathan for a briefly incest-ish chat (it happens to all of us) while they were both partying before the attempts were made on them. For Amanda the female Russian operative walked up to her with an AKS-74u in the middle of the party, unletting the whole clip at practically point-blank range before running off out from the crowd that was frankly running away as well or on the ground cowering. The Russian dumped the gun after wiping it of prints. The Russians were also guaranteed discounted arms shipments for these many concomitant 'jobs'.

After all was said and done the mission here had failed miserably. The only thing they had gained were Russian contacts, whom they would continue to ship guns to in the form of torpedo-deliveries on the beaches at specific times. These remote-controlled mini-subs held a good chunk of change, best of all a third-party bank in Vonver was being which would refuse to hand over any bank documents or ledgers, though these were also funneled threw several shell corporations and other smaller banks in separate countries. All together 1,912 bank accounts existed in 791 different nation-states along with 617 companies of either veracious constructions or extremely prestidigital accounting. The Commander watched as the rest of his men camouflaged and hid all the weapons in secret compartments into hydraulics-adjusted heavy duty trucks. It took some hours, but shortly after the last hit was finished and the dawn was breaking all the packing was complete. The garage doors opened as all but the last of the trucks went to the reandevouz point, he radioed to his troops surrounding Weeks and Senura, "Take them out boys. For the Revolution! If you make it out, you know the extraction. We'll be moving on towards extraction point B in less than a day, I hope you can catch up if you miss A. Good luck, your doing Us a great service."

Amar was angry, the Soods, whom he believed to be a future ally, had turned their backs on him and the Cause. Forever, they would be enemies. Any co-operation in the Bratislav theatre had gone completely out of question, though plans had shifted vastly from their original post-conflict beliefs. Amar now saw that the Soods would have to be uprooted, just like the dirty capitalists. An encrypted communique came in from the Confederate People's Campaign, they were going to be withdrawing back. Amar was displeased even moreso, everything was shifting under his feet. For once he didn't have enough intelligence administrators, Gregor the Bloody was fully occupied with Bratislav and setting up a direct intelligence cell inside Sood itself. The Delusija telegraphed them, Amar directly called the head of the Nuclear Oversight directive, "We want you to maintain all engineers on permanent station. With nuclear power you could become a net exporter of energy, much like Venezuela (little Venice) where the cost of transport is very low. The battery-driven car is a device of today! We would also like for our embassy in your country to be expanded following a meeting with your Vice Head of State." Amar awaited the response.

Tigers Policing HQ-Richmond, Virginia
The Rebel Alliances wrote:I had just gone over some reports of successful ops when I got an unusual request.

Nikolaij was ready to answer. That very speech had been shaping up inside his brain since he arrived in the CSA.

<<As far as I am concerned, Mister Vale, I will consider this discussion a job interview. You have a point: there is no way I can convince you of the sincerity of my intentions, but I'll do my best anyway.

I came here from Delusija, with two others, on a low-profile, low-priority intelligence gathering mission. Our country showed a malignant interest in your current political situation, but could not afford to send any real intelligence because of an ongoing Nuclear Test. I was the one who should have spied on you, the others were a mere coverage. Anyway, they are Doctor Laszlo Braagetz, my teacher and analyst for our Intelligence, and Irina Klavetzkij, a Medic whose sole purpose was to be my fake girlfriend.

What do I want? Credit, Mister Vale. Your offer is really appealing to me, because for the first time in my life my hard work will be rewarded with something more than a cheap copper plated steel medal and a pat on my shoulders.

What do I have to offer? Officially, I'm a Ph.D in Psychology: I am this close to be a living lie detector. I can talk to people. I am a plausible "good cop", in the good/bad cop routine. You can verify the existance of my Degree on Delusija's University Website.
Unofficially I'm a secret agent with 14 years of non-stop training. There is no record of that, so You'll have to put me to the test, but it'll be worth it.
Hand-to-hand combat: Thai-boxing, European Boxing, Judo.
Gun combat: pistols, revolvers, sub-machine guns, sniper rifle, 20 to 10 gauge shotgun.
I can drive cars and trucks,

Truck: truck sounds better than lorry. I spit on you, english teacher

and tanks manual and automatic, small helicopters, ultralight planes.

I come from a place where misery is called equality. I am sick and tired of this. I don't fear hard work, I have been doing it all my life: I just feel like I should offer my services to those who pay me for what I'm worth rather than what they can afford.
I know, I know, ringing your doorbell in the middle of the night might seem impulsive, but it was now or nothing, and I chose now.>>

Nikolaij empited his pockets on Vale's desk. His wallett, his ID, his passport, his Visa, his Hotel reservation, his Campus pass, and a bag full of bugs and recorders, some of them already used.
He then waited for Vale to speak, full of hope.

Pro Corporation Rally-Richmond, Virginia
The Rebel Alliances wrote:The vote would be decided in a few hours.

Laszlo and Irina arrived at the rally on a rented Lincoln Town Car. Irina drove there, since Laszlo had always relied on public transport. She almost tore apart the selector's lever and the break pedal while trying to engage an imaginary first gear. That thing drove as a 2 ton go-kart.
Laszlo told her not to look for a parking, since there would probably have been a valet for that purpose.

That evening, after the phone call to Nik's parents, they went down to the hall and talked with the manager about their staged abuse. Many people had seen Irina with messy hair and running mascara. A few of them suggested her to go out and have some fun. New make-up, a few strikes of a comb, and there they were, ready to scramble.

Irina entered the rally first. Her mission could have taken the enitre night (possibly the morning after), so Laszlo would have probably taken a taxi back to the hotel.
He gave her the time that took his cigarette to burn down to the filter, then entered the rally as well.

Irina was some fifty meters away, flirting with a man in a suit.

Good job, Irina. I'll let you choose between your hospital and a career with me... inside the intelligence. What would you pick, Irina? Of course, it would be a shame to lose such a talented Medic, but one can serve his people in many different ways....

My Sweet Mother of Delusija! Miss Jennings! Again! This must be the 25th of December! Maybe... maybe I'm not going to stand and wait for Irina to work. Maybe I can do my part actively. Medium profile, mildly detached, one, two, three, go! For Delusija!... and for me.

<<Miss Jennings?>> he said, coming from behind, slightly at her left. He picked up casually a snack from the table, along with a tulip of sparkling white wine, not as renown, but he liked the smell and fuzzy bubbles.
<<How are you, Miss Jennings? Sorry to bother you, but yesterday, when I asked for your autograph, i had very few time to tell you how much I admired your temper when dealing with that protester. An incredible display of cold blood, if I may express my opinion.
This whole Corporate Bill is rather... unusual for me. Would you care to explain – if you are willing, of course and in you own words, since I already have a general picture – what do you plan to do once this bill has passed?>>

Vitalij Kraznovskij answered the call. He should have been the Delusijan Ambassador in Bratislav, provided the Conference had been a succes, which was not in the end.
<<As the Office of Foreign Affairs stated, your technicians Gusto and Fields will stay in Delusija without any problem until the Plant's inauguration and first month of operation. If you wish them to stay longer, we can discuss that after the inauguration.
As it has always been, the presence of foreign personnel is linked to a project or program. The civil nuclear program is still going on; as for Mister Fresko and Roste, the project they were linked to has been declared over, and successful. The miltary Visa has a shorter duration than a civil one. Their presence has been proven helpful for us, we let them write a report without reading it and gave them our approved copy. I think we have behaved properly. Next time we'll test a new weapon, we will be glad to invite your personnel, and one day we might return the favour, provided we will gather some know-how in a field you don't know. If you wish to send them back, you'll have to wait for two weeks to prepare the documents for a new Visa.>>
The truth was that in those two weeks, the newly bought Borej Class SSBM would have arrived in Dubrovnikzka and Novaja Kaliningrad, where the new R-19 SLBM would have been loaded. They would have known that from satellites, eventually, but Delusija wanted to do this alone.
<<As for the embassy, I volunteer to represent Delusija in your country. All I need is a nulla osta from our Foreign Affairs Minister, and it could be done in a couple of days. A meeting with him would take about a week, since he is on vacation with his wife. It has been a hell of a year for him, the Kothigran fiasco, the Bratislav success and following defeat, the Nuclear Test success, and many more. Expect him to call you soon.>>

Inside his office, Premier Maertz was listening to that conversation. He had tapped Shrapnelin's phone since he had aknowledged the flightplan of four ELINT Il-38.

So is this your plan, Anton? Firmador helps us with our weapons and nuclear plants and this is how you repay them? I'll keep an eye on you. I'll phone Firmador tomorrow, first thing in the morning.

Amar took the news to heart, it seemed yet another opportunity had been lost. Maybe his people were too zealous, or the foreigners too soft. Politics wasn't his game, Gregor couldn't assist him with the huge effort in Bratislav dragging most of his resources. If the extraction went without event he would place this failed Commander at the helm for the Confederate Revolution, he had the most experience. Russian connects were increasing, the Firmadores disguise was that of a Pantec mafia syndicate operating well outside the CIS region. More and more weapons were sent to fund that Criminal gang, tens of millions dollars was being funneled threw multiple financial instruments, the money was never inside Firmador itself. As night turned to day Amar returned to his desk, where his phone began to ring, his beautiful buxom red-haired secretary (and mistress) went over the intercom popping gum in her mouth and a melting d'Pais accent, "Daddy, the Delusija are trying to reach you, a Premier Maertz." Amar transferred the call to his office, picking up the phone and waiting.

We concluded the meeting and they agreed to put us in touch with the higher ups. It turns out the pierced man and tattooed woman are siblings and the African man was a lieutenant in the Blood Roses. We paced outside and the sun shone in my eyes. So I covered them and I kept walking. But then a shot rang out. And it hit me in the chest. I fell flat on my back and somehow managed to roll behind a brick wall. And I grasped at a sharp pain in my chest. And I found my Bible. A bullet was lodgen within its pages.

I could not believe it. And I was actually unarmed at the moment. But Jose, the pierced man fired his Uzi at the assailants and Sanura only had her tribal knife. The Black man was using a shotgun and the woman fired her pistol. I raced through my mind for something to do but we were pinned down.

Well, soon enough cops and Corporations will be here. So, if nothing else that will give the assailants something else to shoot at while we escape. But just then Jose, was shot three times. All in the chest. And his blood covered the hot concrete. And his sister screamed for him. She just lost family, that never feels good. Especially like this. I felt for her, but we still needed to survive. Before I knew it I scrambled for his Uzi and grabbed the weapon and returned fire.

We just need to hold out.

Jason Vale-Richmond, Virginia
"Well, I will have my men confirm everything of course, I am sure a man of your stature understands. Now, back to business. I will give you a test, should be simple for a man of your talents. You will be escorting a certain politician who is vital to this vote. A Texan, to the Congress here in Richmond and make sure nothing happens to him. A Spartan Office has been attacked and we believe these criminals will try to prevent the vote. They thrive in the weakness and corruption of this government. And we will replace that. They know if we get control their criminal empires in the CSA are over." I then picked up a manilla folder and handed it to him.

"This is you new partner. Her name is Ayumi Endo. Twenty years old. Does not say much and is a Confederate from Los Angeles, Pacifica. She is one of my top officers despite her young age and lack of formal experience.Dont let the cute long socks fool you. She is trained in hand to hand combat and in deadly melee weapons. She never uses fire arms. I suppose it is a fear tactic, and easier to get a hold of. Knives and blades do not require a permit in most states. She has never had a partner last long though. For some reason or another they all request transfer. Says she prefers working alone but that does not fly here. No matter how good you are if you are alone there is one place you cant watch. Your own back. So I am assigning you to her. Technically she is your Senior Officer. She has been with us since we opened. But, in your case you can handle yourself. So really, she will just teach you our procedures and such, and we dont have much of those. So, she is waiting in the lobby right outside, I will have her come in so you can meet."

I pressed a button and spoke into a speaker and in a few seconds she walked in the door. She stood several inches shorter then Nik, but was carrying her signature Kitana as always. I then got her started.

"Ayumi, this is your new partner Nik. And you wont be getting rid of him. He is a professional." She smiled.
"So were the others." I then reassured her.
"They were cops. He is...more qualified. Just show him our standards and he should be good to go."

She nodded and led him out, not saying anything else. I chuckled and went back to work. This will be interesting.

Alice Jennings-Richmond, Virginia
I was approached by the same man as before. He stood out and I remembered him. Because he asked me to sign a book. I smiled warmly, despite the bruise on my face that had surfaced. Some make up covered it but you could still see it. Just less noticeable on camera.

"Of course Laszlo. The Bill is designed to increase efficiency by handing Legislative duties, which is our law making branch over to a council of CEOs. This council is made up of seven CEOs, often called the Big Seven. These seven will then handle all law making duties and vote on each proposed bill. There are fewer people and so deliberation is shortened to a minimal and they can achieve more. Laws are still able to be vetoed by the President if they do not pass by at least 5-2. And with these duties corruption will be almost solved over night with no more bribes or buy outs and the people get real work done. That is the sum of it. Basically exactly as things are now just fewer seats and more action and less debating. The only difference that is significant is that the positions will be held for longer terms and future candidates for these positions are also CEO's. The Confederate government has slowly been outsourcing duties such as law keeping, administration, prisons and even defense in some areas to corporations as their proven inability to solve these problems grows, and the people want change. Radical change. And when we have taken control we cut costs, improve efficiency and improve conditions. We have proven we are just more capable of taking care of the public good than the current status quo. We already supply the jobs, wealth, innovation and strength in this Confederacy. So, we feel we have proven ourselves to be the responsible party." I then took a breath. And gathered myself. I was still nervous about improvised dealings.

"I do hope I have answered your questions Mr. Laszlo. Is there anything else you wish to discuss?"

The Confederate State of America
6th Day of Firmadores Intervention

Estel peered threw his binoculars, the guy up top had hit their major target, but he stood back up moments later. Perhaps one of the private industrial factories had put a deficient amount of gunpowder into the cartridge. Estel seared with anger. An equanimous voice came over his short-range band, "It's hot in here kids. Take the driver and buck it to extraction Point B. Me and everyone here need to clean up this mess." He was referring to the lives of Weeks and Senura, while they had no proof their autochonous 'lies' could severely hamper any future Firmadores propaganda programs. These two had to die, and he doubted how long the gangbangers would stick around to some random hooligans. Needless, Estel received the message. Even in success, each of the six would consume their cyanide recourse, produced in a government run factory outside of Firmador using that foreign nations local produce. They were also fronted as a domestic pharmaceutical corporation. Estel called out to the getaway driver, whom would be there in a matter of moments. The sirens had not yet become audible.

The two in the rear alley maintained their position, as the three on the ground firing from the alley into the front space occupied by the counter-Revolutionaries and their likely to disappear hoodlums. They lobbed all their grenades in semi-rapid succession, only taking time to let each prime to a length of time where it could not be blown back but merely deflected hopefully far enough. After the repeated salvos fifteen from there, along with ten more from their rearguard went into the enemy group's perimeter. The man on the roof continued to dump accurate ammunition down below, his vista seven stories up and the only doorway booby-trapped. Each and everyone of them was willing to die, the man with the vantage threw two grenades down, while three men on the ground loaded and fired their only two RPG-7 launchers and RPGs. The explosions were cosmic, every car was destroyed, scorched or screeching with blown out windows. Some were turned over, their gas leak ignited by some desultory tracer round with the proper chemical coating to cause such a reaction.

"LIBRE POR LOS TRABADORES!" they whispered, a hymn of death for the Wetwork operatives as they sprung from their alleyway bayonets-equipped and AK-74's fully loaded. The five men ran into a hail of Uzi return fire, the 'leader' aiming his AK-74 at Senura, firing off as he was charged by a gangster, his weapon still firing as he turned from the black woman's silhouette to the ethnic boy's, his body stopped on the metal blade extending from his barrel. He kicked off the body, two 9mm rounds cut into his ribs and he fell to the ground on his knees. The rest of his clip was shot in the blurry direction of a black woman and her white male escort, the picturing faded as his body fell from force of recoil or fresh bullet holes. His compatriots continued to storm on, eventually all of them falling around Weeks and Senura's position the markings of grenades, RPGs and bullets around them all. Smoke filled the area from all of the constant firing, no bodies could be made out as the last Wetwork soldier fell wounded to the ground. The three who didn't die immediately swallowed their tablets, sirens not from car alarms were now part of the ambiance, weapon started fires licked at the area around much of its from split oil creating its own black smog and setting off the random car or two.

Felipe spit out his gum, "Aw hell." He said in french, his term was up. The scene bellow was smoggy, so he just lobbed two more grenades into the profundity, shots were still being exchanged. As that died and the police drew closer Felipes final solution had come to mind. He quickly expended his last four clips of ammunition, fixing the bayonet to his gun which he threw as a spear down below into the battle and pulled the pin on his grenade as he preceded to leap over the seven stories, holding his finger over the pin's hole as he judged his time till impact. It was a calmly occupying problem, at least he didn't think of the errors of his ways. No, it was a duty. A job he would perform to the last seconds of his death. Interceded briefly, mere micro seconds, this is how the Kamikaze pilots must have felt! his cognizance snapping back to place as he chucked the grenade into the last known position of Weeks and his girlfriend, his neck broke before the explosion went off or the shortly after squeaky cop brakes.

A third party had made a direct call to the Russian mafia, it was deemed urgent and from a reliable source.

The driver stopped below Estel's location, he nondescript car was now almost fully unarmed. Estel left his weapons in the room he had been using and only a pistol was on them, which could be placed swiftly into a stache spot if they were pulled over. The matter of I.D. was easy as well, having been falsified less than a week ago they didn't think any major changes that would have affected procedure took place. The two drifted away into the night, ambulances, fire trucks and police sounds all behind them as the countryside and then the mountains greeted them some hours later. They waited at point A for some time, but then moved on. The Commander surpassed point A less than three hours and they rendevouzed in a forested area between two large mountains. Both still had snow from their high altitude, the Commander received confirmation about the ex-filtration. They would meet at the coast in less than seven hours at the co-ordinates, given in their classified Wetwork code which was the second-highest in the nation after Amar's personnel lines to internal and external governments.

Dillin Weeks-Augusta, Georgia
The smoke finally cleared. And when it was over there were bodies everywhere. As the police and Spartan Security Officers got closer the assailants turned to suicide tactics. I looked over the dead bodies and I recognized a few faces among them, no names though. And I doubt they will leave any evidence of their identities behind, these are spies after all. The scarred ally way was filled with signs of battle. Small fires raged around dumpsters and garbage cans, broken brick and blood stained the ground. And shattered windows and glass were dominant. And at the end of it all, only three of us stood. Myself, Sanura and Sonya Chavez...the tattooed woman who looked over her brother's dead corpse. And as most of the fire was directed at me and Sanura she escaped unharmed.

But I placed my left hand over my gut and shrapnel had torn its way in. And the crimson blood stained my hand and clothes. And Sanura got off quite easy, her arm was cut by a bayonet from an AK-74. The cut was clean on her upper right arm, just a flesh wound. A few stitches will do the trick. But then I need to remove the shrapnel in my. I leaned up against the ally wall and I observed Sonya as she gathered herself. No tears. I could tell she just let it all turn to something else. She then pulled a pistol and shoved it in my face. And Sanura pulled her tribal knife and with her left hand slid it to her throat, but did not cut it. Just getting a message across. But still the young criminal did not waver.

"It was you....you lead us into an ambush...." Her anger and sorrow showed in her voice over her lost sibling. I just whispered in response.
"No..." Then she pressed it.
"If not you, then who?"
"Agents were after us. If you and your brother were the target I would have killed you at the start of the ambush. And you saw most of the fire was at us. But this is not the time. They wont be sticking around after a show like this. They will be looking for extraction. If you want to avenge Jose, you can work with me. But right now, our business is done."

Then, paying no head to the 9mm in my face I turned and limped away and Sanura helped me to walk. By now the siren's were almost here and we ducked into a warehouse that lead to another street close to my apartment. The advantage of a bad neighborhood like this is that we can move around in bad shape and people dont ask too many questions. I had some things we could use in my apartment to administer first aid. And stop my bleeding and rest a while. I should likely expect a visit from the local gangs here soon. And going back to my apartment would seem like a suicide destination after what happened but after those losses and fumble I was certain that those agents were gone.

I reached with some pain and difficulty my apartment and fell onto the bed. I zoned in and out as Sanura grabbed cleansing alcohol, cotton balls, tweezers to pull out the shrapnel and whiskey among other things. And as she poured the alcohol on my wound the burning sensation made my bite the proverbial bullet as I gritted my teethe and she moved to extract the shrapnel, the whole operation lasted five very painful minutes and she was then focusing on stopping the bleeding as I guided her through it. I was a medic in the Vipers. And after we got that under control, she started to work on herself. As she did so I used my free hand and grabbed the remote as I turned on the news. And the headlines was a murder spree in the Confederacy.

And as the names of the victims were listed. They were all...all...family? Those...I took the remote and threw it at the television where the remote control shattered. And my screams were heard around the block. And then I just grew quiet. In a single day...nearly half of my closest relatives were killed. I suppose that is all they could find in the short time frame. Two of the victims were reported to have survived both injured and in the hospital. Nathan was shot once and was expected to make a full recovery and Amanda was in critical condition. With two bullet wounds, but missed her vital organs somehow. And she was not conscience at the moment. But my parents, grand parents and aunt and uncle as well as attempts on my brother and cousin?

Have they no honor.....

It was then, still in my seething anger I heard a beating at the door. But before I could say anything three figures walked in. Bearing the marks of Spartan Security. They stared at us as if trying to examine a potential client or something. Then the center one spoke.

"Are you Dillin Weeks?" I grunted.
"Yes..."
"Then we are here to escort you and your friend here to the hospital under guard. The rest of your family is being located and placed under protection as we speak." Then he just went silent. And spoke softly. "I am sorry."

I pulled myself up and stared at the floor while I tried to piece it all together. And then just shook my head.
"Well, lets go."

<<Comerade,>> said Maertz, in his flat voice <<despite my colleagues have already called you, I wish to thank you personally for your contribution to our nuclear experiment, and most of all, to our new, clean, reliable and cheap power source. Delusija will soon enjoy the freedom of low cost electricity, fueling our schools, hospitals and houses. Our diplomatic relationship must improve immediately, Comerade. I will send an ambassador as soon as your accomodation is ready. As for yours, send him anytime you like, there is a building in Malo Stran'ja that would fit perfectly.
On an unrelated note... my Defence Minister "forgot" to tell me about the current CSA situation. I am sure he was very busy sendong agents and ELINT aircrafts. This must have really tired him, since he is now on "vacation" in the Soodean Imperium". This could be an interesting topic to discuss face-to-face as soon as possible. Do you agree, Comerade?>>

So... it begins. A test-job. An opportunity. A boss. A colleague, from whom I can learn. Is life beginning? Yes, it is. If anything goes wrong, I'll fight to the death. I'd rather die than disappoint those two. But I won't die. I'm a professional. Let's cheer up and greet my colleague.

He closed the folder he had just finished to read and stood up to shake hands.
<<Nikolaij Tjeslovszkij, nice to meet you, Miss Endo. I'm ready to follow your orders, Ma'am.>>

They don't make girls like this in Delusija, that's for sure.

<<I am ready to suit up and go, Mr. Vale, Miss Endo.>>

Laszlo stood by the buffet an thought. The corporate takeover seemed rather efficient if so described, but something was not right.
<<Thank you, Miss Jennings. In fact, I have another question. Please,>> he said, and raised both his hands <<take it for what it is: a mere speculation, but I wonder how stable such a system could be.
Think about it , Miss Jennings: some of the Corporations that'll run this country are competitors. Those which aren't could become, according to my understanding of modern finantial capitalism. One sell food, the other sells furnitures, shouldn't compete, right? Wrong.>> he said, and sipped from his glass of wine, to add drama.
<<The two will compete in the stock market, trying to obtain the most valuable titles for themselves.

Now, back to the Big Seven. You work for Spartan Security, right? Your firm and Tiger Policing are not strong competitors, because you have a slightly different customer requests and the country is big enough for both of you... now. The council of seven will become the council of six, then five... how long will it take 'til this country will becomes a Dictatorship of the whealtiest? I give it ten years. The Companies will fight with weapons or money, doesn't matter which, they will. The Capital's only purpose is to augment itself.

Was I talking with anyone else, I could have talked about equality, the struggle of the less lucky or those who, despite capable, lack the initial opportunity to show themselves. But this seems to be not interesting here in the CSA.

Delusija is an efficient State. We are still on our way, but we hold up well. Our State Police has a budget comparable to that of the army. Private enterprise is outlawed, exception made for ice-cream stands.

Bare in mind, Miss Jennings: I am a mere spectator in this show, a spectator that happens to be a critique. This place is shining, not as bright as you,

Shut up, old fellow, what are you trying to do? Cheap flatterer!

but bright enough to make one lose himself. But it is a show, a play. The curtains will fall, and the stage will be revealed. Remember Cassandra, Miss Jennings: and please, be sure to occupy a safe position when this system will collapse. It would be a shame that you, young as you are, fall for this orgy of greed.>> he concluded, and took a shrimp from the buffet.
