Major units to be redeployed under RCO base-sharing agreement

Under the terms of the new RCO base-sharing agreement, major eleements of the Arthuristan People’s Navy and Air Force will be redeployed to bases located in other member state of the Richmond Corporation Organisation, Minister of Defence Gabriel Quezon announced in a press conference today.

According to the disclosed plans, the Third Fleet will be relocated to Hardenburgh’s New Caledon island in south east Pardes, while the Fifth Fleet will be rebased to Morena in Rodarion. Accompanying them will be large APAF units, including long range strategic bombers to augment the striking ability of the newly deployed forces, as well as fighter squadrons and SAM/ABM batteries to defend them.

“It goes without saying that the entire move will take months to complete,” said Mr Quezon, “fortunately, since the inception of the RCO we have planned for similar scenarios. We can therefore begin the redeployment process as soon as some last minute preliminary issues are resolved. Arthurista is fully committed towards achieving the full potential of the RCO’s collective security regime, a system designed to safeguard stability in Pardes and to deter aggression.”

“The latest in a series of hare-brained schemes compromising our security,” wrote opposition leader Peter Haskins of the Freedom Party on his blog this afternoon in response to the announcement, “rather than concentrating our military strength to properly secure our home territory, the government would rather dissipate it in far-flung penny packets. Have they learnt nothing from the events of the past year?”

VICTORIA — It was yesterday, that under the auspices of the 'Richmond Cooperation Organisation' that the Arthuristan 'People's Services' announced their intention to deploy two naval fleets across the Pardesian region, alongside the more disturbing element of 'large air-force units including long-range strategic bombers to augment their striking capability'. It is with such an announcement, which we should question the intention of this deployment.

The Attaché , through reputable sources in military analysis, was able to obtain this assessment of the 'long-range strategic bombers' that will be deployed under the Arthuristan plan. “The licence-built Tu-160 they call the 'Blizzard', is not a defensive asset, but instead a nuclear weapons platform capable of striking as far as Itallia and the Western Republic with cruise missiles from their Morenan base in Rodarion.” Taking such into account, why would the RCO in it's 'defensive' nature, require a asset purely focused towards striking? By basing such within Rodarian, the RCO directly places Nova Caledonia, Belfras, and to an extent, Altriena itself under threat of cruise-missile strike.

Bearing in mind the membership of Arthuristan to the 'International Coalition for Expansion', here at Altriena's Attaché we can't help but wonder if this reflects upon a combined Rodarian-Arthuristan intent to place the Triumvirate under threat, and to this point, we contacted Representative Michael Hatherson for his opinion on the matter, and today he made this statement.

“While the right to self-defence is innate to any nation-state, this gesture by the Richmond Cooperation Organisation was not made in defence, but is in fact a veiled threat to all nations inhabiting Lower Lusyanka. The fact that such strategic weapons platforms – by their very nature intended to deploy nuclear weaponry – are being based under a supposedly defensive pact is an insult to all nations within the region. Should Arthuristan wish to continue such a deployment, both they and Rodarion must be willing to accept the resulting consequences from this state of affairs they are ushering upon Lusyanka.“

We believe that the International Coalition for Expansion's founding nation of Itallia has been contacted with regards to their intent, but no reply has been received from Spokesman Sutherson as to the potential effect of this announcement upon CDI-IM relations. Should this state of affairs continue however, the Attaché was able to gain an idea of potential responses.

In the eventuality that the Arthuristan deployment continues, the likely domestic result will be the increased deployment of Rapier FRS1s along both the Belfrasian and Caledonian borders, in turn with an equivalent assignment of AWACs to provide the requisite early-warning and CNC to deal with cruise-missile threats in a timely fashion. However, this is not speaking for the measures which will surely be taken to deal with the implicit nuclear threat.

Despite our understandable concern with the offensive deployments of the Arthuristan 'People's Services' to Rodarion, we should take a moment to ask just what their supposedly defensive fleet-deployments are going to operate against. Unlike the more reasonable allocation of forces just off Hardenbourgh, where the forces can act in open defence of both nations, the Rodarian geopolitical climate is decidedly less vulnerable to outside influence as a result of their internal gulf-location rendering any assault restricted to within range of land-based assets and tactical aircraft. Is this a case of political blindness, Arthuristani imperialism, or Rodarian beligerence? Only time will tell.

After kicking up a major diplomatic furore yesterday, the Ministry of Defence has quickly issued a clarification to the announcement made yesterday.

"Firstl of all, there was a mistake in the press release pack which grouped the 'strategic bombers' in question among APAF units." Defence Minister Gabriel Quezon said today in a hastily-convened press conference, "They are, in fact, from the Fleet Air Arm's Patrol Command. For the initial deployment, a squadron of 16 modernised Tupolev Tu-22M Backfires will be based at Morena, together with a squadron of 16 Nimrod MP2 maritime patrol aircrafts. In an emergency, they would be joined by the rest of their Groups at Morena, although there are no plans to do so in the immediate future.

In Fleet Air Arm service, they are configured purely for the maritime roles, complementing the Nimrod patrol and ASW aircrafts. They serve a purely tactical function and, this is a point which we must hasten to emphasise, never have we tasked them with the nuclear strike role and they are not armed as such now. There are no Arthuristan strategic weapons in Morena and we never intend to send any there."

Some commentators have criticised how the foreign press have 'jumped the gun'. "After all, we operate five types of long range bombers, three of them Tupolevs", one tweet reads. Others, however, have pointed out how sloppy press work by the government has nearly led to a major regional crisis.

"Clearly, MINDEF made a major balls-up," said political analyst professor Moira McTaggert in a telephone interview earlier today, "If you're sending major forces into a volatile region, you can't really act surprised at the local uproar if you don't clearly and unambiguously detail your force composition, or even something as basic as numbers. There's a major lesson to be learnt here. "

Cardinal Remus Dragescu has been appointed Cardinal Secretary of State (CSS) by his Holiness today at a major private ceremony within the Vatican. Cardinal Dragescu succeeds Cardinal Flavius Valgu who died last night in his sleep at age 86. Cardinal Dragescu previously served as the Holy Father's private secretary following his election in 2005, he has been a major support in the Holy Father's duties and has been a voice of solid reason according to some members of the Papal Household. As of today, Cardinal Dragescu now heads the Curia and also becomes the Church's ambassador to the world. He currently stands as the number 2. in the Church rankings, standing deputy to the Holy Father.

Following his appointment and follow up ceremony, he met and spoke to journalists in the Garden of the Apostles within the Vatican's walls. There he thanked the seated Pope with a warm embrace, having spent 8 years as his personal secretary, it is no doubt the Pope sees him as a son. The Cardinal appeared to be in shock at his sudden and major promotion, but he said after the day's events that he knows he has the Sacred College and Pope's full support and trust and that is welcoming.

Speaking to the press, his statement read, "I thank the Holy Father for this great opportunity not only to serve our Mother Church, but also the Papal Republic. The Cardinal Secretary of State is a position very important both to the Church and the nation, I now stand as the voice of the Church to the world and to the government. I may also present my voice for the elected government of this nation under God and I will do so readily. I am humbled before you all and God in this post, may the lord guide me towards success and good leadership.

I always hoped to one day to become the Cardinal of State, and I always kept my hopes for a plan in my mind. Now that I stand before you as the Cardinal of State, I wish to produce to you my hopes and desires for the Mother Church and Rodarion. I say both Church and nation because they are the same thing in Rodarion. The Rodarian Catholic Church, is Rodarion and vice versa, for that reason I wish to see the efforts of the Mother Church and nation be intertwined together. I wish to see the Rodarian morals of peace, harmony and cooperation extend to our neighbours and our far flung neighbours.

We should end this madness, this cycle of extremism that has blighted our name. We have enemies we never had before, we have critics who were silent before, we are suffering from our own blindness and narrow mindedness, this must stop in order for our nation under God to propser and grow, it will be tough, but we will discover who is intent on improving the working relationship and who is blinded by arrogance and self importance. In related news, the Foreign Ministry has slammed Altrenian reports that Athuristan nuclear weapons are present on Rodarian soil.
This follows a poorly written news report by Athuristan news that reported nuclear armed bombers being transferred to Rodarion under the RCO military cooperation agreement.

The Spokesman said, "The Altrenian fear mongering is a sign of their paranoia, no such weapon has touched Rodarian soil and never will, not tomorrow, not next week, not until the sun stops shining. This nation does not allow and will never allow foreign weapons of mass destruction to be based here, for that reason we support and jointly deny any presence of Arthuristan nuclear weapons or nuclear carrying capable aircraft".

Holy Father visits the sacred Padradesti Shrine outside Bacau

His Holiness praying before the altar

His Holiness the Pope visited the Padradesti Shrine today as part of a visit to the Bacau Seminary following continued requests by the students that the Holy Father give a lecture on Righteous Sermon. The shrine was built out of soft rock in 1902 by a group of Monks from the Saint Mihai Monestery located some 3 miles west of the Shrine. A small hole was dug out of the end of the cave, allowing sun to shine down upon the statue of Saint Peter. Thousands of pilgrims from Bacau and it's surrounding towns visit the shrine every year, with reports of miracles being perfomed around the vicinity of the shrine. In 2005 the Bacau Papal Office declared the Shrine a national heritage site, in 2007 the Padradesti Church was construction beside the Shrine, a large open air church was also constructed around the shrine, allowing for greater numbers of pilgrims. In 2009 the Benediction Park was completed, making the Padradesti Shrine one of the largest Church complexes in the country. Some $675 million has been spent on producing the Padradesti Shrine.

Whilst the Holy Father visited Bacau, recently appointed Cardinal Secretary of State, Remus Dragescu addressed the Sacred College of Cardinals for the first time in his new capacity. He addressed issues of corruption within the Clergy and difficult redtape within the Curia. He also addressed the continued but low level reports and rumours of child abuse by Preists, to which he vowed 'a deadly, unmerciless, deciesive and unrelenting campaign to stamp out this evil'.

Speaking at the Shrine, Pope Pius addressed a crowd of some 15,000 pilgrims who arrived at the Shrine upon his arrival. The crowd was welcoming and fervant in their support for the Holy Father who continues to serve the Papal Republic and the Mother Church with ceaseless and unstoppable energy.

"I thank you for all coming, in nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti amen. Today is a very special day, it is a warm and welcomed day. This nation has had its ups and downs, we have seen peaks and falls, but I foresee as do others in the Mother Church and government, a rise to prosperity, security, peace and harmony with our neighbours and brothers and sisters under the Lord. The appointment of brother Cardinal Dragescu is a move I played with the aim of producing a man, who is loyal, full of energy and drive that will see this great Eden transcend the petty motives, schemes and plots of those who reject harmonious co-existence and rise to show the world that the Papal Republic is a state of peace and mutual trust and respect".

In recent weeks, the Curia and elected government have strived to repair damage done by incompetent leaders and officials who have caused serious damage to the nation's links with others in past months. Vice President and Foreign Minister, Ionela Istratescu for her part has strived the most, developing an entirely new Rodarian foreign policy based on mutual respect and pan-Pardesi efforts for peace.

Speaking further, his Holiness continued his wise mentioning of the spiritual and physical propserity being felt across the nation. "I woke up today, prayed onto the lord and I felt anew, I felt fresh and content. I looked out from my Papal Apartment across the Vatican gardens and onto Romula. The morning sun sent rays down upon a stunning metropolis. I felt the combined feeling of happiness, trust and prosperous thinking. That is the lord's work, he has blessed his chosen kingdom and people with prosperity, growth and good days. Our service the lord has rewarded us, as it always does, it always will. We serve the lord because we must not as his creation, his dear followers through our Mother Church but because he has chosen us, the Rodarian people to save mankind from sin and evil, remember that, remind each other, remind your children and grandchildren so the cause of the nation may always be carried out".

His speech was recieved well by the crowds who continued to applaud his utterances with joyful applause. He left the Shrine and went onto to visit the Bacau Seminary to give a lecture, he will also stay over for two days to lead mass with the tutors and students. His Holiness will then travel to the Sisters of Saint Karena House after the Nuns reported to have raised some $860,000 for charity.

Annual Church Statement Report indicates financial growth of 21% since 2003

The Vatican is believed to hold some $48.5 trillion

The annual Papal Statement Report which collects all financial infomation regarding the Church has been published today and has revealed a major growth in the Church's finances. The report has found criticism from both within the Church and the Holy Assembly. According to the PSR, the Church has seen a growth of financial assets of 21% since 2003. The Church now stands on $48.5 trillion to use for its various departments and duties, including clergy wages and funding charity efforts across Pardes, but the report also stated that 32 Cardinals are billionaires and one has become a trillionaire. The report drew most of it's crticism from the sections regarding land ownership and businesses. The report states that the Church owns 46% of the nation's private land and holds some 39% of Rodarion's economy.

Last year the workings on the 2013 PSR began, the officials in the Papal Department of Statistics and Archival Information (PDSAI) searched through bank statements, ledgers and official statements. The report for 2013 took two months longer that previous ones, a sign of the major growth of Church wealth. In April of this year, the PDSAI announced that it would extend the deadline of the PSR to August rather than June. Rumours began circulating that several Cardinals were being investigated for corruption or illicit dealings, however this was slammed by the PDSAI as 'vulgur speculation'.

Then when it was released to the Sacred College yesterday, the surprise was broad. Cardinal Pradon of Asguard gave his thoughts to us.

"Usually non-Rodarian Cardinals rarely sit in session every year, they ususally sit when issues relating to the Church alone arise who the Holy Father requests our presence for other reasons. But this year, we sat down for the Statement Report and my Lord were we surprised at how much the Church's financial wealth had grown, it's incredible and a great blessing, since most of the new money will enter Christian Charities and other institutions that help the needy".

The Report's Findings

The report's final page offers a simple and blunt list of it's findings, we have been graced with the chance to publish it's results first.

• Annual Church income has risen by 11%
• Annual Church expenditure has fallen by 22%
• $3.5 billion spent on construction of new churches, monesteries, seminiaries and Church property since 2008.
• 32,000 new churches constructed in Rodarion, Hardenburgh and Armavira combined.
• Office of Religious Activities formed in 2009, budget: $302 million.
• Church businesses valued at $23.4 trillion.
• 32 Cardinals recongised as billionaries due to positions within Church businesses.
• Cardinal Demitriu Farbescu recognised as first national trillionaire due to presence in 14 Rodarian companies.
• 905,000 new clergy members since 2003.
• Papal Charitable Association - donated/worked with $593 billion.
• Papal owned land in Rodarion accounts for 46% of purchasable private land.
• Papal Businesses account for 39.32% of Rodarian economy.

It is these statistics that have drawn criticism, some members of the SCC (Sacred College of Cardinals) have accussed some members of being gluttonous and greedy, others has accussed the Church of falling for the lust of wealth within capitalism. Yet the Report also arrives with some idea of where the money will go, according to the PDSAI, the Church will spend 48.3% on Charity and other Church institutions aimed at social assistance (including Church schools outside of Rodarian Government control), 13.2% on Church Security and Defence (Office of the Holy Inqusition and half of Orducii's budget) and the rest on administrative areas.

Cardinal Secretary of State Dragescu is expected to address the SCC over the report and detail the annual budget for the Church tomorrrow. His Holiness has not commented on the report's findings.

Recently the RCO has extended the rights of foreign basing it has within its member state's territory borders. However concerns regarding the use of these basing rights had garnered much suspicion and criticism from region powers when Arthurista, a member of both the RCO and ICE declared its intend to deploy significant portion of strike able weapons including including long range strategic bombers. This came as surprise as the area already was widely know for already possessing significant military forces of the Rodarian military, resulting in widespread criticism from several sources.

Despite the propaganda efforts by the Arthuristans to hide these facts as a 'journalistic mistake' following their submission to Altrenian pressure. HU military officials have confirmed that despite the changes to the original deployment and claims of the 'defensive nature of the RCO', the RCO still have deployed a force that is by it's very nature more adept at striking targets in an offensive manner and capable of delivering nuclear arms if desired on targets in Natalia, Nova Caladonia and Sanatasia than anything else. Military spoke's person General Mazayef Azadan added to this with following except: "Despite how many times the RCO claims to be defensive it will not be defensive by nature if it's members aren't. And history has repeatedly shown they aren't. Any claims that the RCO military deployments are defensive are at worst out right lies or statements made out of shear ignorance. It is condemeable that terrorist sympathizers and enablers like Arthurista support the murder of innocent HU citizens, by threatening to use force when all we seek is to defend ourselves from a malignant foreign state and it's puppets. Anyone who at this point in time denies Rodarian state's involvement in the attacks made by catholic terrorists is fool who refuses to see the facts as they are and anyone who defends and supports this regime is just as guilty."

Many experts have shared the general's opinion. Confirming that despite its official intentions, the RCO has made no address regarding the aggressive actions perpetrated by its members. It is widely considered that elements within the RCO are pushing for war with the Hegemonic Union or intends to use RCO as counter balance to any necessary defensive measures that need to be taken regarding these attacks. While central government High Chairman Nentayeg Daye has stated he shared this few, he also said he remained confident that not the entire RCO seeks to murder HU citizens, stating that if the RCO was to take greater measures against these attacks, it might be possible to prevent more deaths from happening.

RCO Gen. Sec. slams reports regarding Athuristan military deployment

RCO General Secretary, Radu Lebotescu denies that Arthuristan aircraft carry any nuclear weapons

The General Secretary of the Richmond Cooperation Organisation, Radu Lebotescu has spoken out against the fearmongering reports by many news outlets across Pardes. General Secretary Lebotescu, a Rodarian nation has been it's leader since its founding in 2007 and stands in high regard by leaders of the memberstates and is renowned for his calm nature, however this press conference had a more serious and tense atmosphere. Both the Arthuristan and Rodarian governments have denied that the aircraft deployed are of offensive purposes, stressing the RCO's defensive stance and foundation.

Speaking to journalists at the RCO Commission in Romulă, Secretary Lebotescu denounced the responses by several governments as 'excessive and dangerous'. However did conceed their response as relatively natural.

"The Richmond Cooperation accepts that every nation bordering Rodarion maybe concerned by the deployment of Arthuristan military aircraft to the Papal Republic indeed took place, in part of the 2009 Defence Agreement, which sees bases in memberstates be offered to all memberstates to use. The base at Moreni is a combined naval and air facility for RCO members, the deployment of the ASW force by Arthurista is apart of their dedication to the 2009 Agreement, the aircraft deployed do not and will never be armed with nuclear weapons as long as they are on Rodarian soil. The Rodarian government when signing the 2009 Agreement made clear with it's specific clause, that no memberstate may deploy nuclear weapons on Rodarian soil, they made it clear that every aircraft deployed with it's specific weapons maybe privy to a thorough search by Rodarian ground crew.

The deployment itself of aircraft capable of offensive missions is in line with our mutual defence agreement. These aircraft be they from Gratislavia, Hardenburgh or Arthurista, may only be used in defensive situations, for example in their Rodarian context, may only be used in combat should Rodarion be attacked. No RCO force deployed in an memberstate apart from their own maybe used in conflict, not involving the host RCO memberstate. And so to be absolutely clear, these aircraft are not carrying nuclear devices, never will whilst in Rodarion and will not be used for an offensive situation, unless it be involved in a RCO led conflict of defence".

Rodarian lawmakers have been said to be concerned over the deployment of the Tu-22M backfires, due to their nature as warship killers and their presence may concern the Kingdom of Natalia (a member of the Hegemonic Union) and the Kingdom of Belfras. However the statement given by Cardinal Secretary of State Dragescu, allayed fears here in Rodarion. The Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security has not commented, but they stated on their website that the aircraft have arrived in Moreni and have been placed in hangars and the crews are now undergoing 'cooperation lectures' led by Papal Air Force commanders.

Long time critic of the Hegemonic Union, Rodarian Salvation Party MP Lucian Lutescu spoke out against the HU's own response on the Good Sabbath Day tv show on Sunday, saying, "The response by the Devil's right hand is a predictable one, the truth is that they and the Altrenians do feel concerned over the rise of the RCO, to them the RCO is a major force to be recognised and they do not wish to, the RCO represents an end to the old ways, the old balance of power, they feel uncomfortable, and so they spin this web of lies and fearmongering to slur the RCO name. The Hegemonic Union as per, would claim we invite WMDs to threaten the poor misguided souls in the Kingdom of Natalia, what else would they do? They just need to learn that not every state in Pardes is as paranoid, arrogant and narrow minded as themselves".

President Alexandrescu is set to meet RCO leaders in September for the annual RCO summit which is taking place in Asguard. The RCO 2013 Summit is aimed to meet calls for trade reform, further cooperation on cultural levels and possible moves into a united telecommunication provider.

An onto itself meaningless terms that according to experts essentially means they'll be used as an offensive weapon when Rodarion calls upon the aid of the RCO in conflict. Yet, inherent to its contentious direction and supports of aggression against both its neighbors and the region at large, no conflict can arise where Rodarion isn't the instigator. Implicating that Arthurista intends to use force in order to safeguard Rodorian terrorism and expansionism.

In response to this admission. Karel van Brugge, the representative of the Hegemonic Union in the Organisation of Pardesian affairs made a statement addressing the situation. "The RCO is incapable of being defensive as long as they refuse to address the aggressive behavior of its members. It saddens us to see peace and stability uprooted by such negligent and malicious pretentiousness that the RCO is projecting on himself."

"But these are the facts as the are. They intend on protecting a regime that actively supports terrorism and intents to use aggression to expand it power, the same regime that only a few weeks ago killed dozens of people who only offensive was running an embassy. Why, because Rodarion is not defensive, it shown to only know aggression, deception, terrorism. And Arthurista, the great defensive nation that openly supports a perpetual policy of wars of aggression and expansion intends to protect the Rodarian terrorist regime by putting 172 warships and a squadron of strike bombs. Capable of delivering potentially several thousands of cruise missiles, this also includes amphibious forces and nuclear attack submarines. All of this is placed in within operational distance of the only line of defense that exists between the Terrorist supporting regime of Rodarion and the central ocean."

So far they're been no clear indication that the RCO intends on addressing they're members aggressive stance, yet under foreign scrutiny it is becoming irrevocably clear that as long as the RCO tries try deny their inherently aggressive platform the more aggressive they will appear. Only time can tell if the RCO leadership will see the errors of their ways and amend the mistakes.

Backbenchers concocting RCO membership vote proposal

Potential major foreign policy realignment is fomenting in parliament

A number of sources within parliament, unanimous in their request not to be named, have stated that a large number of coalition backbenchers are preparing a private member’s bill to repeal the Richmond Cooperation Organisation Act 2006, reorienting Arthurista’s position with regards to the organisation.

Some background might be useful at this point.

Under the previous prime minister, Indira Davis, Arthurista entered into two military alliances: the Richmond Cooperation Organisation (RCO) and the International Coalition for Expansion (ICE). Her cabinet’s goal, in line with traditional Arthuristan foreign policy up to that point, served the overriding objective of deterring any aggressive moves from Arthurista’s neighbours, namely the Hegemonic Union and Ulthranni. Both were conceived as security measures first and foremost, with any ideological subcurrents subsumed by pragmatic necessity.

Indira Davis was no-confidenced earlier this year in the wake of the Civil War. Much of the current Labour Party front-benchers who shared her view, however, remained in place. Attempting to challenge the status quo are a younger generation of parliamentarians who count the current Prime Minister, Leanne Whittaker, among their ranks. Far less inclined towards realpolitik than their elders, as well as far more prone to ideological thinking, this group has always been uneasy about military cooperation with perceived ‘despotic regimes’.

“It’s pretty obvious that Arthurista’s membership of the RCO’s security regime doesn’t square with its obligations under the ICE Charter,” one of the aforementioned anonymous sources confided in an earlier interview. “With the greatly increased ICE presence in Pardes in recent years, as well as their record of intervening on our behalf during the recent Civil War, we have no reason to doubt that the Coalition alone is a perfectly adequate guarantee of Arthuristan security. It is certainly not in our interest to be drawn into potential conflicts on the side of authoritarian states, which in any case we are obliged to oppose as a member of the ICE.”

When asked whether recent events have added urgency to the proposed bill, the respondent’s answer was rather mixed; “We will never in a million years bow under pressure from the Hegemonic Union or its cohorts. On the other hand, it is absolutely not our business to make our fellow democracies feel threatened, especially CDI nations with which we have long enjoyed friendly relations.”

“I’m certainly not opposed to further economic and cultural cooperation under the aegis of the RCO,” concluded our anonymous interviewee, “as well as military alliances concluded with certain individual RCO member states which precede the RCO, but we do support withdrawal from full membership and the military obligations it entails.”

The prime minister has yet to comment on the proposed bill. Prevalent opinion among informed circles, however, indicate that it would very probably receive her support.

President Tiberiu Alexandrescu has spoken out against the Hegemonic Union's incesent lies and fearmongering and it's blatant and 'sickeningly obvious hypocrtical comments'. The President slammed the HU today at a speech to political science students at the Virgin Mary University in Bacau, the students at VMUB have been taking part in major anti-HU and Armaviran Solidarity rallies since last month, the University alone has raised some $10 million for charity causes for the poor Armavirans who are suffering the under the illegal and barbaric invasion by the Megrelians, something the President made clear was the 'open infected sore' that blighted the HU's case.

Speaking to students and journalists who arrived to hear his speech, President Alexandrescu made clear his frustration.

"Ever since this squabble began over the RCO's deployment, the Hegemonic Union as usual by its existence was quick to spit, bark and roar poison. Their words are not frustating at their meaning but the sheer hypocracy behind them, they claim the RCO is not one for defensive protection of it's members, it's not a force for peace and harmony and they shun us for it. This comes from a nation who forced one of it's puppet states to invade Armavira without warning, without provocation and without any remorse. The Hegemonic Union is the most dangerous and destabilising entity in Pardes, how dare they criticise the RCO. Has the Papal Republic invaded another sovereign nation? No it has not, did Armavira show any signs of invading Megrelia? No it did not. This is why the RCO was formed, to protect nations not interested in the workings of the CDI, but wishing for more than just mutual defence, and I applaud the CDI as a force of peace and dileberation. The Papal Republic has invited such forces from RCO members because of the events that took place against freedom loving and peaceful Armavira, what would stop the HU bullying the Kingdom of Natalia to attack the Papal Republic without warning or provocation? Nothing that is what. The Tehraanians are cowards, they send thousands if not hundreds of thousands of men from their puppets to die, because they do not wish to tarnish their self constructed image.

The stench of hypocracy that eminates from Tsantatsena is vile, the stench of the Hegemonic Union is vile and it would good upon man for the rest of Pardes to smell it and realise the truth".

Last night some 32,000 people in Urceni set fire to the Hegemonic Union flag and the flags of it's memberstates. It is also rumoured that some 200 books written by HU authors and playwrites were destroyed in bonfires. Father Anton Malaxa led a morning rally in the capital today, urging the Lord to 'bring down their cities like the walls of Jericho, set ablaze their rivers and salt their fields'. Some 56,000 people attended his rally and cried out in support of his prayers.

The night before last, Rodarian millionaire Tiridus Lamasecu activated the so called 'Solidary and Common Cause Sign' just over looking the Rodarian border with the Social State of Natalia, the 30ft tall neon sign read, "It won't be long Natalian friends, the HU stain will soon leave Duga". However the local council is working to have it removed, due to the erection of the signs without planning permission.

Recent images produced by Hegemonic fascist state officials have been discovered across the internet, according to one, Rodarion is the heart of terrorism within Pardes. This is a regular insult thrown by the single party totalitarian state which current stands as having the worst human rights record in Pardes, in response a major campaign has been led by Rodarian bloggers who have produced the court findings to the assassination of Cardinal Mihai Vladamirescu, who was murdered by members of the Tehraanian state sponsored mafia, known as the Akaya. They have also produced published reports by the Ministry of the Interior informing readers of the number of Hegemonic Union agents arrested by Police and the Inquisition.

The Vatican has ordered all Churches across Pardes to remind all Rodarian Catholics of the current wave of detestable propaganda produced by the Hegemonic Union and it's true aims of distracting its own people from issues mostly centered around the unparalled levels of oppression, tyranny and fear of which the Intergrationalists dominate.

Not to long ago Rodarian state media, the PRRB placed an article on their website concerning the resent outburst of President Alexandrescu regarding the deployment of military forces to his country under the RCO and the criticism this move had received.

The rant addressed primarily the humanitarian operations in Armavira, a small republic that's being annexed by Rodarion and is the base of the Armaviran wing of the Order of the Cross, a paramilitary organisation of catholic radicals widely regarded as a terrorist group responsible for creating proxy groups like the Lord's resistance Army, itself involved in various terrorist attacks like the HU embassy bombing in Havenwalde last month resulting in 152 deaths.

HU spoke's person Hans van Everts, had replied, calling it 'pathetic', 'predictable' and 'an act of blatant denial and distortion'. Despite this, the Rodarian terrorist regime is propping up its sable rattling with more threats, including putting up a ominous sign near the border with the Social state of Natalia, predicting the overthrow of the Kingdom of Natalia. The protectoriate of the Social state of Natalia has yet to comment on this sign. Mass rallies organized by radical priests and preachers of the Rodarian Church have seen the mass burning of flags of the HU members states and the Union's own flag, as well as books and other items that originate from the Hegemonic Union. Something that experts state is "a rather extreme display of hatred that doesn't make their case look any better".

Shortly following the publication of the latest PRRB's article, the central government made the following statement. "There is nothing unusual from the Papal Republics response so far. But it doesn't matter how much they rant of rave about this, nothing will change the increasingly undeniable truth that they are active supporters and perpetrators of terrorism. And the sooner everybody else realizes this the better. It is a sad thing the RCO has apparently ignored this so far. However we are still confident that rational voices among the RCO will seize defending and supporting the Rodarian terrorist state and its acts of aggression against the Hegemonic Union and other states."

Earlier this day the Arthuristan media outlet, ABN news reported on new bill supposedly under vote in parliament regarding the RCO act 2006 which could potentially change its standing amount the RCO in general regarding its military obligations. Despite this, the ANS news has so far ignored the matter of the allegation that Arthurista has indirectly supported terrorism directed against the HU for years. While undoubtedly this isn't to surprising, I personally find it unlikely they are even willing to admit this fact. But it is a fact, you support the Terrorist state of Rodarion then you inherently support the terrorists groups they back, this is unavoidable. But it doesn't really get better from there.

Well you have this: "The I.C.E. supports Imperialist and Expansionist policies" and this: "What the RCO represents is a combining of states who recognize and respect the sovereignty of nations, this organisation stands as a defence agreement, thus making it impossible for us to engage in offensive engagements as an organisation, we stand for defence, defence and defence"

I can definitely see a problem there, although it doesn't take away the fact that the primary thing the RCO protects is terrorism, after all it is Rodarion that primarily benefits from the RCO. Neither Gratislavia or Hardenburg are under a particular degree of direct military threat as Arthurista and Rodarion, especially since neither of the former two nations have been implicated in directing terrorists strikes. So on one hand you have organization that's negligible to whatever its members do regardless of how it compromises security and other other hand you have an organization that openly states that states to support imperialism and expansionism for the reason that it considers itself the world's police force.

Perhaps if you didn't support expansionism and imperialism, maybe if you didn't try to play world police in Tyrrhenia and lose a good chuck of your fleet you wouldn't feel the need to guarantee your security. Maybe then you wouldn't have had your civil war. Then maybe then we could leave you alone and have a chance to life in peace and not be bothered by neoconservatives and socialists trying to tell us how to run our country at gun point.

It is also not in your interests in getting drawn into potential conflicts that aren't relevant to you. Perhaps one day the consequences will teach the Arthuristans that peace is a zero sum game, you either take up your neutrality or you take up your flag and face the war that you inevitable draw to yourself, that is what you sowed and it shall be what you reap from there on. All those body bags they had to bring in the past few years should serve as a good example to them.

But maybe just maybe they'll solve one of these two issues soon. All we can do is just hope they make the right choices from here on.

Megrelian defector reveals all

'Mikhail' arrived in Eslovakia and gave Vocea an exclusive memoir of the events leading up to the Megrelian invasion of Armavira.

Two days ago the chief editor of this newspaper approached me and said 'I want you to go to Eslovakia and meet this man'. He gave me a file and picture of a man we called 'Mikhail' for his own safety. He was immediately shocked to find he was a Megrelian, an aslyum seeker to Eslovakia and most importantly a defector. With the folder came a small printed email which bascially requested that Mikhail meet a reporter from Vocea so he may tell the truth. I was honoured to recieve the order by my editor and I immediately jumped on the next avaliable flight from Pope Julius Airport to Ekaterinburg. I travelled out of the city to a modest hotel in the suburbs, there I met Mikhail and found he was a genuine case, a man so shocked and appalled at what was transpiring across the border he wished to tell the world the true reasons, so the war maybe seen in a more clear light.

Mikhail previously worked in the Megrelian Foreign Ministry and worked close to the official from Tehraan, who would oversee that the Megrelian government remained in line with Hegemonic Union policy and the party line. He followed him everwhere as par with his job description, the events leading up to the invasion, something which angered him especially the response by Administrator Giorgi Nikolozani. As we shall see, the true reasons differ majorly from the reasons presented by the totalitarian oppressive government in Tsatatsena.

The story
(transcribed from Mikhails exact words)

It all began several months ago, say January of early February. I had been at my position for about three weeks, those three weeks were easy as hell, the official from Tehraan was hardly present, he rarely stayed in Megrelia. However by January or early February he arrived and stayed night upon night, which was strange. He had with him constantly a steel briefcase which he had handcuffed to his wrist, odd again. Anyway, he began to meet the Administrator more and more regularly, by that time I was called in to shadow him and to meet his every political need within Megrelia, I essentially became his private secretary and so I was present at every meeting he took part in and this is where the war was planned.

The first meeting regarding the war involved the official, the Administration and members of the military. It was here that the official stated Tehraan's wish for Megrelia to invade Armavira. Not, recommend or suggest, but wish, well the way it was presented by the official appeared to be more of a demand. The official stated that the deployment of Rodarian soldiers to Armavira was a threat, strangely enough the Administrator disagreed. Since Armavira became an autonomous state within the Papal Republic the border clashes declined and peace began to emerge along the border, and this is documented in minutes of meetings. The official became angry, he appeared shocked that the Administrator would disagree with the Tehraanian view regarding Armavira. The official then said the Armaviran branch of the Order of the Cross was a major terrorist threat, the Administrator again disagreed, since it was founded in the early 2000s there had been not one terrorist incident in Megrelia.

In my view, Armavira wanted peace as much as most Megrelians, they didn't care for war against the Intergrationalist government in Megrelia, they didn't care for the grander cold war between the Papal Republic and the Hegemonic Union. But the official was ademant this wasn't true. The Administrator disagreed and the official left in a sulk, I thought that was the end of it, but it wasn't.
The day after next, the official and the Administrator met again, with the same Megrelian officials and military commanders present. The official opened his briefcase and revealed several pictures of what appeared to be containers and several buildings. The official then claimed they were satellite pictures of storage facilities for Rodarian supplied chemical weapons. The Administrator seemed split between believing the official or rejecting the photos as frauds in order to sway his opinion. The administrator replied "so what?" I remember that because the official's face was priceless. The official then ranted that this was proof that the Rodarians were planning to use Armavira as a base to launch an invasion of Megrelia and remove Intergrationalism from its government system. The administrator began to fall for it, it was not until a general reminded him that the Armavirans had not done one thing that showed signs of an impending attack, there were no irregular troop movements, no redeployments of aircraft or vehicles, nothing.

The third meeting was more tense, the official sighed and came out with it, the most damning thing to be said to a Megrelian and something that has led to this war. The official sat up straight, looked the Administrator in the eyes and said, 'you will invade Armavira, the High Chairman demands it, he wants you to destroy Armavira so that the Rodarians are left bloodied, bruised and humiliated, kick them out entirely and make sure they don't come back. He then produced a small leaflet which explained the Hegemonic Union's plan to destroy Rodarion as a rising power, they wanted to kick down every Rodarian interest, starting with the big prize itself, Armavira. They want to cut them down and push them pack, like slicing meat off a prized pig until nothing is left but the basics. He also made clear that if the Administrator did not agree, the Party would find another.

What came out of that meeting was the truth, this invasion was nothing about removing Rodarian terrorism, removing the threat. Armavira was a peace loving state before and after it joined the Papal Republic, the Rodarians did nothing untoward to Megrelia, instead of building bunkers and rockets, they built farms, bridges and new housing. This invasion was about the Hegemonic Union's desires for Armavira, just to show the Rodarians who they were messing with. It was about national ego, and the Armavirans suffered for it. As a result this invasion is nothing but illegal, morally wrong and the end of Megrelia I do believe. All this talk of terrorists is nothing but lies and slander, the Tehraanians want the resources Armavira sits upon, they want to give Rodarion a bloody nose and they will do so no matter the human cost.

War planning

The Administrator caved in and began spouting the terrorist threat, Rodarian imperialism rubbish the Hegemonic Union gave him through the fax machine, he then ordered the illegal and unprovoked blockade of Armavira to stop any further Rodarian military units from arriving. Then came the invasion plans, this were produced by the Tehraanians themselves, not the Megrelian commanders. The Megrelian commanders for their part resisted the plans, one said Megrelia would lose hundreds of thousands of men, as well as vehicles and experience it could not replace, one even said the invasion would be followed by defeat and an Armaviran occupation. However the critics were silenced and the planning continued, the long term plans were drawn up and were horrific. They included possible reprisals against inevitable Armaviran insurgent attacks, these included public executions and other inhumane acts, I read one briefly that mentioned something about Armavira being annexed entirely into the Union and that only 50% of the population could be supported, let along orders to exterminate any Pro-Rodarian sections of Armaviran society. Those last parts were relayed whilst the war was in its earliest stages and the last piece of information I could find. What this means exactly I have no clue and I do not wish for you to speculate should it be non-fatal methods.

But what I can say with some certainty is that some members of the Megrelian government and military are doubtful of absolute victory, I know for certain that some are concerned over the constant threat of a major Rodarian intervention, since they already have 30,000 soldiers present. Thats all I know and all I wish to say.

My Personal views

As a Rodarian I am privy to believing this, the cold war between the Papal Republic and the Hegemonic Union has been ongoing for the past 12 years since the end of the Natalian Civil War. Rodarion is certainly not innocent in this covert conflict, but it certainly wouldn't invade a nation over it for that I am certain, if it did intend to do so, it would of invaded Megrelia in 2010 when Armavira joined the Papal Republic as an autonomous state, that was three years ago, and nothing happened. In regards to the mentioning of HU plans for an annexed Armavira, I am uncertain it's final and rock solid, military commanders recieve many different plans and orders which are then acted upon depending on the situation on the ground. But what is clear from Mikhail's testimony is that the Tehraanians planned this a long, long time ago and the reasons they presented are... bogus. This does not change the fact that war is ongoing and people are dying, nor does it have the power or resonance to change governemnts policies towards the HU or the war, but least it springs in people's minds that there is more to this war than meets the eye.

I hope you read this and judge for yourself, and choose hard between the two stories presented; 1. Armavira is a base for Rodarian terrorism, aggression and 'religious madness' or 2. the HU had plans and schemes regarding Armavira well before 2013, and their plans simply involve giving Rodarion a kicking and siezing territory, resources and people.

Julio Quesar and his ''State Plan''

Saxonople, Pravengria- Premier Julio Quesar has released a series of documents in his opening address to Parliament today, the 72 page pamplet displays his plans on how to lead the country to a ''brighter future'' Domestic Chief Driano said, one of the new advisers to Quesar's circle. Quesar who is a retired General and was the Supreme Commander of the Pravene Armed Forces from 1987-2007 stated he had come up with a ''State Plan'' during the address.

Quesar who enacted the Dictator Tempore powers for a year as set by Parliament, which gives him total control over the country for that time, has spent endless hours in meetings setting fourth his plans in the set of documents titled ''El Futuro i Les Planes D'Estacio'', the first thing the set of documents address are the many state-owned industries, from the Mining and Oil industry to the Arms Manufacturing and Automobile industries. In the State Plan he wants the state run industries to begin building factories and expanding into the extra-regional colonies such as in Sondria. With Pravengria having lately been in tail with Myrmidon TD, he wants to continue to expand these industries since they would be ''mutually beneficial'' for both Pravengria and the MTD nations.

Pravengria has become one of the ''Manufacturing States'' for MTD, mass producing vehicles, armour, and planes for the Sondrian Industry, to assist in keeping a well met supply for increasing demand. Since the deal there was signed, factories have sprang up with mixed workers, mass producing equipment for the military producing giant, Quesar hopes that within a few months time Pravengria will be able to mass produce thousands of equipment for MTD.

When asked of why the industries were being made to build in extra-regional colonies Quesar stated, ''Pardes is a very hot region, flashpoints occur all the time, with my announcement to set up a greater trade network in Pardes and declare Permanent Neutrality, it only makes sense to move arms industries for example out of the region to help solidify that we won't be aggressive in the region any longer.''

However, that isn't all the State Plan dictates, despite the demands to move the industries out of the region, Quesar has also presented a new Social Plan and Foreign Policy. From page 15 to page 21, a series of changes would be made in a years time, first of all, Quesar has curved the decision of ''Non-Political Party'' affiliations in order to set up a temporary One Party State, the idea which bothered Parliament was played down by Quesar during his address. ''Since 2005, Political Parties have been banned, the idea behind the move was to keep a nation as vast and diverse as ours from being divided. We want a government that works efficiently and is able to make decisions quickly without having to worry over political quarrels between different groups. However, for this year I find that a One Party State is a necessary move, that should only be temporary, we need to lead the country forwards, and without a united and like-minded government for this period, that will take too long to do.''

Discussion of the idea was met with much opposition but eventually faltered for the idea giving an uneasy majority support. ''As far as Foreign Policy, we will not be isolationist, we will be a passive-aggressive state, we will take diplomacy and trade as top priorities over conflict, in Pardes however we must have conflict stay completely out of the question. We will respect neighbouring states, and consider anything that occurs in Pardes none of our business.''

The final subject that was addressed at the conference was that of border and state security. Quesar has decided that in order to ensure better security for the Pravene people, would be to tighten border controls. Especially on ''flashpoint'' states such as Rodarion, ''From assassinations, and border disputes, to terrorist threats and state sponsored terrorist theories, such threats to our sovereignty and sanctity mustn't be taken lightly. We must protect our selves essentially shielding our selves from these possible threats. As far as Rodarion, I don't have much quarrel with them, as it's mostly none of our business however the heating of tensions for example between that of the HU and Rodarion over territorial issues in South-Western Pardes is worrying to say the least. I honestly don't want to pick on the Rodarians per se, but the last thing we need is to be drawn into something we want nothing to do with or to become some kind of political proxy. I propose tighter airport security, and background checks on those entering Pravengria, to avoid singling out the Rodarians it should be routine for any flights coming in. That goes for shipping as well, we understand that individuals entering the country have a right to their privacy and sovereignty, that of which won't be intruded upon but security at access points needs to be tightened to avoid our borders being compromised. When things cool down in Pardes, we can and will loosen the measures, but until then we need to keep our own safe.''

With that Quesar presented his new organization, the Republican Guard. The documents outlined the formation of a new police force meant specifically to counter domestic terrorist threats and possible breaches of security in the country. They would be placed under control of Quesar himself along with the Ministry of Defense, Central 6, the Pravene Administration of Intelligence, and the Department of Border Security Administration. Parliament who again became uneasy of the idea due to the possibility of abuse inquired as to why the formation of a ''Republican Guard'' would be necessary. Quesar who quickly replied, ''The Republican Guard would be a state-run police force specifically meant to act as a counter-terrorist unit, their mission would be to gather intel on possible security threats, to systematically through special operational procedures, locate and detain these threats. They will not intrude on personal privacy or security, they will still have the same jurisdiction as what was the KIG before it was disbanded in '03. This means no unlawful search or seizures without a warrant, no unnecessary force, and as per the KIG no infringing upon the rights of individuals as set forth by our Constitution.''

After much discussion yet again, Parliament agreed to the proposal, when it came time to vote on the legality and use of the ''State Plan'' the odds went into Quesar's favor with majority rule. Quesar who now is going to be temporarily out of the country to meet with different ambassadors and leaders from different states both in region and out of region stated as the conference closed that he was ''Delighted and comfortable with the decision to support the new plan'' and ''hoped that Pravengria would soon be on a new and brighter path''

Polls as of late over Quesar's popularity have increased dramatically since he took power after His Majesty Alestei abdicated, rising by nearly 18% and still climbing. Quesar stated that he hoped to see support continue to grow for him, especially after the upcoming Victory Day parade, and a public rally he had set to be aired on national television in the upcoming days. ''Public support is a must'' Quesar said, ''without it, a government is inefficient''

President announces snap election

President Alexandrescu praying for a swift, competative and respectful election

In a shocking and sudden move, President Alexandrescu announced today that Parliament was to be dissolved and an election to take place. The official date for voting is marked for 28 August, which is ten days of swift electioneering and campaigning. However his announcement was met with criticism from both parties in the Assembly and debate within the commentator circles. President Alexandrescu stated his reason was for the Rodarian people to have a say in the government of Rodarion after seeing two presidents take office in 2013 alone without any electoral input, he also wishes for a solid mandate from the people to continue on with his desired reforms of education, women's rights and other civil liberities.

The announcement came after President Alexandrescu visited his Holiness at the Vatican, where he discussed his reasons for a snap election and requested that the Holy Father dissolve parliament. Due to the Holy Father's schedule within the Vatican itself, he could not announce the decision to parliament itself.

Following the announcement, several RSP MPs shouted out in disagreement, others applauded him whilst most MPs, both RSP and NLP members sat in silence at the shock decision. One RSP MP called the President, a 'mad man'. The President stated that he had informed the cabinet and he did not proceed without their vote, of which they voted in complete support.

Several poll providers have delivered current opinion polls of the political parties, as it stands the RSP is at 56% a fall from 79% in January, the NLP is at 32% and the People;s Movement stands at 12%.

Many commentators have jumped into debate over the reasons and the prospects of a Rodarian Salvation Party government. According to the National Institute of Political Study, 2013 has been a bad year for the RSP, after 58 years in government, 2013 alone saw major blunders and incompentence that threatened Rodarion with war, economic turmoil and internal divisions. The death of Ion Iliescu and his succession by Octavian Ceausescu held firm the polls, however Ceausescu's short and damaged administration has deeply damaged people's trust in the party. His two month administration saw scandals within the cabinet and party, the Oravita Repentance Camp revelation, the Belfrasian Diplomatic Crisis and the 4 Day Troubles which left some 290 people dead.

President Tiberiu Alexandrescu however, they said had rallied the electorate with bold promises of reform and a new foreign policy. His efforts abroad with the Western Confederation have greatly impressed the moderates in the RSP but concerned the hardliners, this is something that may damage RSP prospects of maintaining a strong majority. However other commentators believe that Alexandrescu's policies may improve the RSP's standing and increase its majority.
