Sexism in video games.

This is one of the things that I use to determine whether or not I'll actually play the game.
I make a female character and try some armor, if it looks like chainmail bikini I uninstall the game.

That implies that you've already bought the game, though.

I always run a quick google search before buying a game I suspect of such things.

You could just play games without characters On a similar note I was playing Il2 1946 and I was in a A6M8 and I was fighting a P-51D. So I gave up on trying to chase him around, so I just leveled out and let him dive on me. Once he got around to 700 meters I put my throttle to 0 with max flaps and pulled straight up and let him fly past me. I then gave max throttle and rolled into a dive in front of him and again did 0 throttle with max flaps in a turn and he tried to follow me and it ripped his wings off.

Go the start menu and type run and then open the program and type dxdiag. It tells you your system model (computer) so you can Google it and find out what motherboard slot you have and find a CPU that can match it if you want.

I want to play as a female. Sometimes this isn't even an option. When it is, each of my boobs are larger than my face. Or there's no musculature. Or boob chest plates (because that's so realistic). and that's only when you can choose to be female. many games don't even include the option, and are always narrated by some heteronormative white man. Fuck that. If I wanted that kind of angst, i'd just go read mainstream news. Seriously, give me a black woman's narrative, or someone's who's LGBTAQ or someone who's got a disability, or any kind of diversity PLEASE.

and then we get to the actual game play, where you get treated like shit by half of the players, while the other half tries to date you, and then treats you like even more shit when you're either a.) not sexy (in their humble opinion) or b.) you're not single, or the worst of them all: c.) you turn them down. You can get used to the same kind of harassment you get walking down the street, and multiply it by ten-fold.

The boob chest plates aren't that unrealistic as they existed is several societies and kind of mirror the male ones that exaggerate their abs. This is unless you're talking about the armor that only covers their boobs, which is stupid.

And most video game sI play usually aren't very sexist(strategy games are kind of hard to be sexist, all thought, Red Alert certainly succeeded in being a first.

Yep. Her characterization takes a huge departure from the other continuities, starting with "having one" and ending with "being pretty decent". They neglected most of the side characters, and the plot isn't anything special, but I think the feeling of Lara's individual struggle and development makes up for it.

Wow, a AAA industry whose general consumer base primarily consists of men, and whose developers, testers, programmers, concept artists, et al are primarily men, and whose games contain content which naturally appeals more to men doesn't usually portray women very well.

Wow, an entertainment medium relies on a series of ever-present tropes and plays them out generally from the male perspective in order to tell stories which in many cases at the end of the day anyone from any gender should be able to identify with and understand in some way doesn't always focus on women when the players are generally men.

Also let's please not go down this path. The whole "Oh well if x is in [video games, movies, TV shows, books, et al] it's going to invariably warp the minds of those who [play, watch, read] them and make them into [x-dependent variable; killers, sexists, rapists, theives]."

I kicked the Pope in the nuts in Assassin's Creed II. Yet Francis's testicles have not met the wrath of my boots (yet). Also sort of murdered tens of thousands of people throughout the duration of that series. Haven't so much as punched a chap in the past decade of my life. That's about the trend for most others who play similar games, too.

Please don't do that liberal thing where you say people like Adam Lanza did what they did because of gun culture or access to firearms and not violence in video games and then turn around and try to convince people that sexism in those same games matters. It doesn't, so long as the intent of the medium itself is not to explicitly degrade women (like how the intent of that same medium is not to train its players to go and commit the in-game acts in real life).

Spoiler alert: It pretty much never is. The intent is to make money by providing a fun thing for people to waste hours of their lives on instead of writing that novella or joining that dating site or getting that master's degree.

And if a significant amount of players are getting that opinion from the games they play (spoiler alert: there are a lot of other factors that probably encouraged that mindset prior to their first video game anyway), well those obviously idiotic people who can't distinguish reality from fiction can and should be ignored so that they will die alone and fail to increase their genetic frequency among the human population, or maybe just told that they should knock it off and be reminded of the reality of the situation.

Remember that time in Don Quijote when the one idiot took clearly fictitious and irrelevant concepts seriously and brought them into a real-life setting. And that time when his "friends" said, "You know what, because this one guy is doing these obviously stupid things, we should probably burn his library of books because they're evil, because this one guy is doing obviously stupid stuff based off of the clearly fictitious nature of the books which he ill-interpreted. Purge time."
