Regional Currency Conference (ISSU only)

Welcome to the Regional Currency Conference! The Conference is held in Monochrome City, Unovia. This Conference is designed to discuss the possibility of a regional currency of ISSU, unlimited trade barriers, and other obstacles to the unity of ISSU.

I walked into the conference room as I was sent to this summit with the goal to bring the ISSU closer together as a Region. But, I did not have high hopes. The CSA has traditionally been isolationist. And has only somewhat recently taken on a larger world role. And this meeting will be dominated by leftest and communist nations with a few exceptions. In fact, tensions are rising now in the CSA since the United States of American and England went Red. But I sat down and waited for the rest.

I propose that no nation of the ISSU should be forced to adopt this currency,
and can retain their native currency if a ISSU Union is later formed

Jack Tanner, Governor of District 10 (where Monochrome City is) was sitting in the Conference room when Robert Greene walked in. He reached out to shake hands.
"Mr. Greene, it is nice to meet you. Unfortunately, the President cannot be here to meet, but he asked me to be here. Are you ready to discuss a currency and other Regional issues?"
He looked at the Confederate Diplomat while he was waiting.

I had just married not long ago. To an Unovian woman actually. Catherine was amazing, but work had called and cut our honeymoon short. "Of course Mr. Tanner. I am ready to start off on the first issue of currency. I also agree with Sean here. No nation should be forced to adopt it."

I listened to the Confederate. "Congratulations!"
He looked at both diplomats. "We agree that no nation should be forced to accept. We have had our currency for 4,000 plus years. It would not be an easy move."
He sat back. "What would it take to accept the currency? For us, we would need a Legislative Vote and Connors to sign it, making it law. What about you guys?"

"Then we must devise a system that allows native currency holders to still benefit from our efforts. An exclusive trade network between ISSU nations would allow native currency holders to still develop on an international scale.

"A trade network would work. In order to accomplish this, we must have a standardization of currency value. I would also suggest a regional high speed rail system with stops in the various countries. It would make a trade system efficent.
What do you all think?"

An extensive high speed rail network already exists in Canador. We can fund HSR routes connecting various cities in ISSU

In order to connect our network with the rest of mainland ISSU, We must cross the ocean straight between us with an 87 mile long, 263 billion dollar under sea tunnel. Plans for the tunnel already exist, however it is not possible to predict the length cosntruction due to the unpredictable Canadorian Arctic climate.

"Given the length of your country, I believe your estimates are wrong. To get a tunnel like that would take much much more milage."
He takes out a map of ISSU.
"Well, our plan suggests various rail lines connected through the Mediterranean Sea. We would use several nations as the connecting points and then have each nation contribute funds to the project.
We have estimates of length that would be required for such a rail system. We project it will take 3 years to do."

I would like to propose that the high speed rail network will be managed by an international committee of ISSU states, and that all ticket prices remain the same througout ISSU. This international committee shall consist of accepted ISSU nations, and will be responsible for international affairs between the committee's member states.

I believe that in order for an ISSU nation to participate in the affairs currently being discussed ( ie. free trade) (OOC, continues in next post)

A nation in the ISSU must send an application to join this international committee, and must be accepted by several committe member nations.

I looked at him as he spoke. "I am all for it. Now, I would recommend that we decide who the members are by their rankings in Best Transport Systems in ISSU. It only seems fair in our view. As far as a committee, I say that it should be rotational membership, puppets not included and the top 10 nations in the region should be the Committee. All prices should be regulated, and it should be convened at the end of this Conference to decide price standardization."
He sat back and let his words sink in.

This committee (let's call it the "International Union of Regional Affairs") should be involved in more than just transport. It should manage all regional affairs. I would suggest that the process I previously brought up should be used for membership in the IURA, and that your membership process be involved with agencies of the IURA.

"Greetings Mademoiselle Polhovski. We are discusing the possibility of an economically and politicaly unified ISSU. So far, the topics of an international currency and region wide high speed rail network have been brushed upon. Moments before your arrival, I brought up the concept of an International Union of Regional Affairs, a potential organization that I believe, could create a unified region, a region where our borders are not seen as obstacles, but as paths to a new future.

We have discussed the currency issue lightly, and have also discussed a regional high speed network, along with the creation of the IURA. We are wondering if you would be interested in participating and how you could help us."
