Also, what do the red lines on the current Aurentine map stand for?

Yes, but we're in Europe, not out in the colonies. And Europe, for the most part, uses 1435mm gauge tracks. As for the colonies, the United States, Canada and Singapore also use standard gauge tracks.

If you want, I corrected some minors mistakes in your bill. This is my revision, feel free to discard it:

The Senate of Aurentina,

Recognizing that standardization between railroads' gauges increases the efficiency with which they operate, especially in times of war, by eliminating complex methods of interchange between rail lines,

Establishing the standard railroad gauge in the Aurentine Commonwealth as that of either 4 ft, 8 1/2 in (1,435 mm) Standard Gauge or 3 ft, 6 in (1067 mm) Colonial (Cape) Gauge for its railroads,

Granting railroads a year to convert to the new standard gauges, and to re-gauge their locomotives and rolling stock,

Declaring that transit systems such as trolley, interurban, light rail, and subway systems are exempt from this resolution,

Hereby passes the Railroad Gauge Standardization Act

Costa, I did not know precisely where Aurentina was located geographically, I was not active in the Senate when it decided. I will decide on a rail gauge soon, I'm making some inquiries into weather anyone will even produce gauges besides standard. If not, I'll stick with standard, if so I'll put up some kind of poll.

Drafted By: Hathimir Taltos (NIFP)
Sponsors: Byzantium Imperial (NIFP), Eliasonia (NIFP), Beta Test (LDP)

Recognizing the desire of foreign nationals to serve in the Aurentine military, this act hereby creates the Aurentine Foreign Legion.

Well historically the french had no problems if you were violent offender, but in this day and age i can see why with extradition that could be a problem. So no.

How exactly are you going to recruit them by the way? offer high salary, go into hopeless countries and offer a way out? We could establish a military mission in some of the west african countries to do just this actually

Offer them complete amnesty, Aurentine citizenship, and a new identity was my idea.

Each regiment or cohort shall then be further divided into eighty soldier companies, further called centuries, commanded by a junior officer and senior NCO. Each century shall be divided again into eight soldier squads, commanded by a junior NCO and a senior enlisted man.

The Aurentine Foreign Legion (hereby called the AFL), shall be under the command of the General of the Foreign Legion, who shall come from the Aurentine Army until a time in which a legionnaire has reached that rank.

Enlistment Rules:

In order to join the AFL, one must be of the age of eighteen years or older, and have no violent felony charges in the nation of their birth, or in the Nation of Aurentina. They must meet all the physical standards of the national military, as well as the mental and psychological standards.

Amnesty:
All members of the Foreign Legion, granted they fulfill the requirements, shall be granted complete amnesty, unless the crimes committed were rape, molestation, or terrorism in a country allied with the Nation of Auretine

Why is this needed? We really don't need this and it contains too much excessive micromanagement.
Cicero thinks I'm Rome's Helen of Troy and Octavian thinks he'll get his money, the stupid fools.

Aurentine Foreign Legion Creation Act

Drafted By: Hathimir Taltos (NIFP)
Sponsors: Byzantium Imperial (NIFP), Eliasonia (NIFP)
Draft#: 2

Recognizing the desire of foreign nationals to serve in the Aurentine military, this act hereby creates the Aurentine Foreign Legion.

Organization:

The Legion shall be divided into thirteen regiments, also called cohorts, which shall number eight hundred each, under the command of a senior officer and senior NCO.

Typically a Regiment is commanded by a Colonel (The RSM is not an NCO, and is also not in charge). A Major or LtCol will usually 2IC.
A Company by a Major (The CSM is also not an NCO and not in charge). A Captain will usually 2IC.
A Platoon by a Lieutenant of some description, or a Captain. The Sergeant is basically second in command.
A Squad by a Corporal, with a Lance Corporal as 2IC.

Thus, if I'm correct in the rank structure of the Aurentine military (It's in the queue, but I cba to check it) then no enlisted man will hold any position of authority, and you're a tad out for some of the rank descriptions.

They would have two names, one set harkening back to the historic Roman legion, the other more practical.

Still illogical.
