Although rather basic by modern standards, Sakura Park can still produce a match to remember for fans (often for the wrong reasons). Nestled in the eastern coastal suburbs of the capital city, Sakura Park has large banks of terracing at either end with all-seated grandstands lining the two sides.

Style Modifier
Northern Bettia play in a standard 4-4-2 formation - due to their infamous tactics however, a maximum style modifier (+3) would be most appropriate here.

Tactics / Roleplaying
If RPing first, the FANB (Football Association of Northern Bettia) give our opponents permission to RP / godmod pretty much anything they like - this DOES include killing or maiming, but if you really are that bloodthirsty, please restrict this to one a game. The Fire Ants employ a rather unique tactic in which they attempt to gain the upper hand by getting as many of their opponents sent off as possible, leading many to accuse the Fire Ants of being a right bunch of bloody cheats (and they'd be right). Hacking, diving, feigning injury, all sorts of ref-conning activity - Northern Bettia have quickly turned dirty play into a fine art. This style of play has had mixed results in the past - it sometimes works well, but when it backfires, it backfires spectacularly (hence the style modifier).

Given our 'unorthodox' tactics (see below), there will probably be red and yellow cards aplenty on both sides, as demonstrated in the second round match against Ariddia in WC38 when all eleven Northern Bettia players were sent off.

Northern Bettian fans are notorious hooligans, with their main gang being called the Yuna Crew. More often than not, rival footballing nations ban Northern Bettian fans from travelling to their nations, but they find 'ingenious' ways of slipping the net into the country. Opposition players, supporters and police can expect trouble by the shedload. This gang of hardcore hooligans who continually aim to make a name for themselves as the hardest firm in the NS-world (usually without much success).

(Yes, it's a rather LARGE squad: We'll be giving some of the newcomers a bit more 'international' experience in our 'friendly' games, if not in actual 'qualifiers', and also want to make sure that we have enough people to split into two "full-size" squads when 'Eternal Flame 4' starts...)

Please note that this team now represents only the ‘Mainland’ section of Bears Armed rather than the entire country, because the separate Association & League in the ‘Northlands’ section now have their own separate “national” team instead. However as almost all of the former (“unified”) teams’ members and support came from the ‘Mainland’ this team can and does rightfully claim to be the successors of that earlier incarnation of the ‘Bear-Belles’....

Yes, this is still an all-female team. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] the professional league for that sport is all-male and so some of the female players decided that switching to Soccer instead — and trying to establish a professional league for that — might be a viable alternative: That professional league was founded shortly after WC44, and so has now been in operation for about twenty years.

Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and this has affected the set of numbers used for this team’s players: Also, the number “22” has deliberately been left unassigned out of respect for its first [& only] wearer who died a heroine’s death during the year immediately following WC444…


Home ground = 'Plumtrees Park', at Council Groves (our capital city). Its current capacity is approximately 40'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 30’000 humans into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in the 'Hotel Exodus', about a mile away, which is accustomed to housing Human visitors. Additional hotels in that city can now provide about 300 rooms at a time for Humans, at varying prices, although some of those may be booked by people who have nothing to do with the Cup. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the adjacent National University: if more foreigners than that want to attend any particular game then there’s limited hotel space available — say 2’000 to 2’500 places — but otherwise they’ll have to borrow space in the nearby Army camp instead...
There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity, but extra services will be organised on that route...)


NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate than humans on average, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have slightly poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human -- as well as a very skilled one -- to tackle them successfully, which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with.
They're physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. They’ve been playing Soccer rather than Rugby for long enough that there should no longer be any risk of any of them (No, not even ‘Honey’...) forgetting about the differences between these two games’ rules. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain.
Cold weather should pose no problem to them, even if there's snow or ice on the pitch, but tropical heat might prove awkward...

Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the [

Some Information about Osarian fans, culture and playing style

1 - If Jermain Lewis, Orlando Florian or Dean Atkinson are available... they will play.
2 - Osarians never consciously play defensively. Ever. They don't know how, and Benedict di Corradi has no intention of teaching them... Therefore, most substitutions are likely to be attacking in nature. This would therefore necessitate a larger selection of attacking players on the bench.
3 - There is a hard core contingent of around 15,000 Osarian fans who will travel whenever possible... they are generally bloodthirsty and often very violent. Bear in mind this is a nation in which gladiator fights are popular, there is a combat league (with several disciplines), and the national sport regularly sees players end up in the ICU.
4 - Osarians don't understand "giving up" ... they will play to the best of their ability until the final whistle, so expect late goals.
5 - All home games are played at Mount Crown Stadium, just outside the capital city, Burningham.
6 - Benedict di Corradi loves to make changes. Tactically, personnel-wise... whatever. But if something isnt working - or even if he just thinks of a new idea - he will probably change things.

That all said... RP Permissions... anything goes really.
Just please no deaths or long term injuries to key players without checking first.

His reflexes have not slowed despite his age, nor has his agility decreased. However, some have commented on his almost total ineptitude when it comes to saving penalties. Despite his excellence, he regularly concedes goals due to the unreliability of the players in front of him.

For Burningham City, Mariana has developed at a consistent rate, but he has struggled to replicate his form on an international stage. At the last Cup of Harmony, he played all five of Osarius' games, and was very hit-and-miss. He seems to struggle with commanding his area, as he is often caught out by high balls into the box. However, he is brilliant at saving penalties.

James Davidson - 36 years old (uncapped)

It is the combination of experience and age-defying agility that make Davidson a strong choice for the national team. Even at Hamtown - a team who consistently fight against relegation - he still manages to post up clean sheets from time to time, which is a massive indicator of his ability. At the moment, though, di Corradi has not chosen to call the veteran into the game. His chance cannot be too far away, though.

Frances Maltes - 33 years old (uncapped)

Like Davidson, Maltes possesses a reliability and experienced head that di Corradi values. However, they share the same trait of being not quite as good as either Florian or Mariana. Should both of them be unavailable, it is a coin toss situation to call between Maltes and Davidson, as they are roughly equal in terms of ability. Maltes simply has the advantage of playing for a title challenging team as opposed to a relegation battling one.

Ali's big move to the Cafundelense league last summer was a huge blow to Hollybrent, and to Renaldo Aguilar. The duo's combination play on the left flank was a major part of Hollybrent's success. Ali's ability to go forward was matched - if not surpassed - by his ability to regain possession if he lost it, and its this attacking threat and combative nature that makes him a regular for the national side.

Anderson's style is typefied by his record as the most booked member of the national team. He is big, and pretty quick despite his size. If he clatters you, you're gonna feel it. Defensively, Anderson is actually pretty bad... but his reckless aggression sort of balances that out, as many wingers - particularly the smaller, not so skilful ones - will get rid of the ball out of fear when he hurtles toward them.

As team captain, Lewis is charged with the task of driving the entire team. His close relationship with di Corradi often serves as a link between the dressing room and the coach. Lewis' attacking ability is impressive, as he is equally capable of making surging runs with the ball, or picking out a great pass. Defensively, his imposing frame serves to aid him in out-muscling many opposing midfielders. Lewi's greatest weakness is his sometimes over-emotional approach to the game. He often gets carried away with his "duty" as captain, much to the detriment of his team.

After stepping into the side to replace the exiled Malachi Lubret, Sanosuke has immproved drastically. The miniature mountain of muscle has developed a great understanding with Lewis, allowing the captain to bomb forward more often, as Sano will sweep up in front of his former club captain Tay Gidds. Mitsubara's main weakness is perhaps his relative lack of pace - probably linked to his short stride length - which sees him caught out by a particularly good swift counter-attack.

However, the half-elf has not allowed this to affect his game, showing all the composure of a young Roberto Del Piero and all the dynamism of his predecessor Satoshi Nakata. Benedict di Corradi speaks highly of him, and believes that the 22 year old will soon be as important to Firewood as Jermain Lewis is currently. Orelin's only weakness appears to be his slight frame, but as with all elves, this does not necessarily mean he is frail.

The old man of the Olympic squad sent to Aeropag, Del Piero's knowledge and experience were invaluable for helping the youngsters learn. Despite never being capped officially for the senior team, he is being considered under recommendation of Donovan MacLean - who appointed him captain of the Olympics team. Del Piero likes to sit back in the hole between his defence and midfield, sweeping up loose ball, and controlling the midfield from there. Against quicker or stronger teams, however, he will inevitably be overrun, as his legs are obviously not what they used to be.

He appears to lack confidence in the national side though.

Impressed greatly in the Di Bradini Cup with his age-defying calmness on the ball and ability to spot a pass. A precocious talent, to say the least. Villa's obvious weaknesses are his lack of experience - at any level above youth - and comparative lack of physical development. Standing at only 5'6" and weighing less than 130 lbs, Villa is far too lightweight to play a full 90 minutes of senior international football, but di Corradi has already expressed that he feels Villa may have some value as an impact substitute, when larger, stronger opposition is tiring.

After an impressive string of performances in the Women's World Cup - despite the team's general poor showing - Smalley has been called up as an auxiliary option in midfield. While not quite as good as her rivals for a position, she is intelligent and has a good cross. Unfortunately, her lack of pace and difficulty beating any players above average mean she is going to struggle in a conventional formation. It is believed that di Corradi has devised a different kind of offensive system with Barca-Carthy to use in which Smalley would excel, as she is more tactically astute than the majority of Osarian players.


Forwards

Dean Atkinson - 30 years old, Striker - (32 caps / 22 goals)

The older of the brothers Atkinson and the most feared striker in Osarius. Dean Atkinson rarely misses when he gets a chance to score, a truly world class forward with a killer instinct that eludes the majority of players. He is slowing with age, and has never been a big, or strong player. He relies on intelligent running, and a good support network behind him in midfield (and if possible a trequartista or target man to play off) for his goals. This effectively means that his success is reliant on the performance of his teammates. If he could carry games, like his brother seemingly does at times, Turic would probably wint he league more often.

Rudy Atkinson - 26 years old, Centre Forward - (5 caps / 2 goals)

After going from third tier to national team in the last three years, the younger brother of the nation's most feared striker has slowly emerged from big bro's shadow. Stronger and faster than Dean, but not as clinical, Rudy has led his side to the upper echelons of the Balida Futball League. Tipped at the start of the current season as potential champions, their style of play focuses on their giant forward, who often drops deep to link up play before breaking quickly. However, his style of play tends to wear him out and his performance drops in the latter stages, often necessitating a late substitution.

Rene Wilson-Ouaddou - 24 years old, Left/Centre Forward - (25 caps / 12 goals)

The formerly tempestuous forward seems to have mellowed in the past couple of years. Playing alongside old friend Benni Watson and national captain Jermain Lewis seems to have helped him mature. He is honing his natural predatory instinct and slowly his goals tally is closing in on Dean Atkinson's. However, Wilson-Ouaddou still appears to be susceptible to becoming frustrated from time to time, particularly against superior opposition. Expect to see that a lot in qualifying.

Roberto Cassetti - 28 years old, Trequartista - (15 caps / 3 goals)
Atletico Insular (Cafundeu)
Still arguably the most creative Osarian footballer around. Had it not been for the emergence of McNeill, perhaps he would not have been allowed to leave. Despite his form for his club, he never seemed to replicate it on an international stage. Playing in such a high quality league will only serve to enhance the 28 year old's creative talents.

Frederico Avila - 30 years old, Striker - (7 caps / 1 goal)

Avila's move to the Han Empire seems to have rejuvenated him. After a rough time in The Babbage Islands, he returned to Osarius and trained with his old club Kart Hago. While they could not afford to re-sign him, he searched for a new club, and Taepung called. It took him little time to get into the starting lineup, where he has since scored approximately once every two games. Back to a top class scoring ratio, and looking as sharp as ever, di Corradi simply could not leave the aging hitman out of his squad.

Along with Kryosi striker Caspian Reyale, McNeill is a large part of the reason Burningham City are back in the title picture. Reinforcing the defense was a good move for Sir George Pennant, but bringing this youngster through the ranks from youth academy level will perhaps be his crowning glory of the 2180s. McNeill is a lot like Firewood's Wilson-Ouaddou, except he is right footed and a lot calmer. He appears to have a maturity beyond his years, which the Wren did not at the same age.

Slowly, Ishy - as the Firewood fans call him - is breaking into the first team alongside the Wren and 'G-Man'. At the moment, he tends to come off the bench for his club, but he still chips in with a goal from time to time. His energetic style of play - the boy has an incredible work-rate - and good instincts tend to serve him well in that regard. However, he is still easily outmuscled, and sometimes his first touch lets him down.

The only one of the original time traveler’s offspring that cut the mustard to make it onto the team, despite the 861 children fathered by Mr. McGnat. To be honest, we’re not entirely sure if he knows that he’s playing on the same team with his father, so keep this profile kind of quiet, okay?
5 ¢hip Ahoy (29)
Committed to becoming a serious banker in the future, Chip changed his name to ¢hip to both distance himself from the popular biscuit and imply that he frequently dealt with money… every time he wrote his name. Unfortunately, investment banks found him to be chump change and cast him by the wayside. Down and out without two pennies to rub together, ¢hip had the sense to join a local football league at his local recreation centre, and the rest is history.
6 Babar Oliver (?)
The forgotten Oliver brother. Little is known about him except that he has ears the size of dinner plates, like an elephant. Few people can get a word in edgewise after seeing his gigantic ears. We think he’s the youngest of the three, but this is pure conjecture.

A legend in the annual Paper Mill Worker competition, Thor once lifted 147 reams of paper in one hand while proofreading the next day’s newspaper with the other hand. It might be a stretch to call him one of the World’s Strongest Men, but we’ll go out on a limb and print it anyway.

Car wash attendant, and state-mandated female member of the team. Has never played football, but had a novelty disco hit at one point.

Given a starting position for no other reason than to pacify his whining (“I brought this nation back from nothingness, and I can’t even be on the World Cup 50 team?!?”), McGnat stands to make a lot of amateur mistakes.

The second half of the “Super Oliver Brothers,” younger brother Christopher went by the name “Topher” during high school, but quickly grew out of it as soon as he realised how pretentious that name actually was.

His back up will be be Tamer Reed who once again proves but being a slightly dodgy second-tier goalkeeper doesn't mean you can't be called up to the national squad on a regular basis and Leroy Nghiêm who appears to have been recalled on the back of leaving Heathfield City where he warmed the bench very impressively to warm the bench at Port of Clotaire. That and trading an e for a ê in his surname. Never underestimate the effect a circumflex can have.

Bastian, a right-back rather fond of bombing up and down the right-wing, even whilst rapidly losing the pace he once had retains the first choice right back slot. Though a left back for most of her career Laura O'Bagels is also quite capable on the right and will be making to look an impact should she be given a chance. And she's not in the squad just because of her surname and you can't prove anything.

3: Santiago Fuentes, 28 y/o, left back, Port of Clotaire (Candelaria And Marquez)

Santiago Fuentes will have a point to prove – though some will say a weight of pressure off his shoulders – after being stripped of the captaincy following allegations that he drank a can of Landsberg. Other than that indiscretion he's a very good attacking full-back who can on occasion get rather lost defensively. In reserve to him Pohl has spent the last few seasons in Tenderville maturing into a splendid (okay, a half decent) left-back and is a two time Di Bradini Cup winner, having lifted DBC12 as the Sorthern-U21 captain.

Finally in the squad without breaking SNFA rules following the ban on women playing top level football in Sorthern Northland being lifted largely in part due to her efforts during the previous World Cup Ní hÓgáin takes the first choice right-wing spot from Hoëdic, after proving her critics wrong and developing into a fine winger with a knack for mazy runs, accurate crosses and an eye for goal. Hoëdic, whilst relegated to the bench will still be considered a key player and one of the first looked towards when changes need to be made.

11: Timm Holtz, 25 y/o, left winger, Tenderville United (Nethertopia)
17: Baral Qaavigaaq, 21 y/o, left winger, East Reading

Timm Holtz stays as first choice left winger despite his tendency to go completely missing in the red and gold shirt of Sorthern Northland. In reserve Baral Qaavigaaq, who as well as having more a's than his really smart sister got at school is good with both feet (really though, these lot are professional footballers, they should be able to use either foot), a fine taker of set-pieces and coming from the Northern Wastes is a man who considers any temperature above 0°C as nice and warm. Makes a lovely fish stew as well. Has crap fitness though, which is perhaps why he's not first choice.

Barentstochter of Bergkamp of etcetera (we just tend to call him Martijn to be honest) as well as providing a massive windfall in takings on replica shirts for his club provides the box-to-box drive and grit and determination and all those other words that unstylish but effective midfielders are described with. Hooper meanwhile provides the creativity and the passes to bring the crowds to their feet, and having been shifted to the right wing at Port of Clotaire is versatile as well. Which is always handy.

Vroon is in much the same mould as Martijn, though he does lack Martijn's sexy haircut. Krofcky meanwhile if the former golden boy of Sorthern football, and whilst no doubt a hugely talented player (the most talented Snorth footballer ever some say) it just never seems to have worked out for him at international level and with him entering his thirties and Hooper really becoming a top quality player it seems his international career is stuttering to a rather limp end. Which is a great shame.

Forwards:

Considered by many Sortherners (and probably very few other people to tell the truth) to be amongst the best strike partnerships in the whole motherflukeing-multiversez Sánchez Garciá and Iñaki (we call 'im that, we can't pronounce his surname unfortunately) certainly know each other inside out having spent much of their professional career playing – and scoring plenty of goals – together at the quaint Harper Street. They certainly can prove to be a handful for any defence out there. Marxuach meanwhile breaks into the senior team looking to have a bright future having scored plenty of goals at Di Bradini Cup 12 (which we won, might've mentioned that when talking about Mike Pohl) whilst Hill is a useful player to have and certainly one who can cause problems for tiring defences.

To celebrate WC 50 - and perhaps as penance for the rather difficult events surrounding the last Holy Empire squad (which NEVER HAPPENED ANYWAY) - this time HEFA have entered....

A few World Cups ago, the Empire entered a team consisting of your worst nightmare. This time you'll instead find yourself playing against your greatest dream, the thing you desire most, or perhaps the thing that would make you happier above all things.

It is up to you to decide whether this will apply on a player by player basis, or collectively to the whole team.

The team is created using advanced oneirology technology, which is able to perceive the dreams of the sleeping prior to the match.

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces

The assistant coach will remain Simeone Di Bradini unless Star appropriates him (as is his right) for Starblaydia RPs.

[Quintessence of Dust]

Quintessence of Dust's leading footballers have forsaken international competition, whether for their more lucrative club contracts (such as Peter Rogers with MN Smith or Woody Cockbadger with America) or even for other sports (Masami Tamagotchi - baseball, Johanna Jonsdottir - ice hockey, Wilhelm Biber - skiing). Winchester Furman and Benny Chang run a restaurant, Marina Sundqvist is now a full time model, and Michel Marberger's tracks do well in the pop music hit parade.

As such, the tendency in recent times has been to pick new squads for each tournament, and this one is no exception.

Coach: Anton Bogdanov. An inscrutable and brilliant tactical genius, he will keep himself very reserved and try not to let his opening manager see his emotions or what he has planned.

In goal, we have Karl King, who is our captain. He is not very mobile, and cannot move fast, and will rarely aggressively come out for crosses, except when the defence executes the "Castle" move.

In defence we have Ryan Rook. He is a very powerful defender and usually stays back, protecting the goal, but can chase all the way up and make crosses, too. He is not good at working in the centre of the field. If he shoots at goal, he will shoot the ball straight forward, with great power but no attempt to direct it into the corners.

Brian Bishop is our defensive midfielder, who can make zigzagging runs, sometimes cutting out sharply to take the ball down the wings, sometimes jagging back in to make tackles or distribute the ball. If he shoots on goal, he will always fire the ball to the opposite corner, even if that makes no tactical sense. The same with assists: he will hit lots of tempting ball across the face of goal for someone else - Ryan or Quinn - to run onto.

Our vice captain, central midfielder and star player is Quinn McQueen. She can do it all: though she doesn't have Naoko's ability to escape marking, she is very mobile, and play anywhere on the pitch, where creating attacking chances or covering in defence. If she is injured or sent off, we have basically lost. She can try to score any way imaginable.

Our dangerous winger is Naoko Knight, who can make brilliant attacking leaps, seeming to move forward and then cut across to the side in one sudden swoop. Despite her diminuitive size she can get past any defender, no matter who they are, and suddenly end up in attacking positions. If she tries to score a goal, it will be with a cunningly weighter fizzer that will bounce round the goalkeeper in an unexpected way.

But wait! That's only five players! Who are our other six? Well, for this World Cup, we are fielding a 5-aside team, for reasons that will be developed in the RPs. You can either play a 5-aside team against us, or take us on with a full strength team! We'll play allcomers. If you insist on us fielding 11 players, you can fill the rest of the side out with the reserves.

And don't worry, we have plenty of reserves. We have Paul, Paulette, and Paula; Pavel, Pauline, and Pablo; Pasha and Paolo. None of these are very fit, so they tend to move forward just a bit, though if they get a good start they can rocket out of defence on a counterattack, and maybe even make the odd attacking move en passant. It is just possible that if one of the reserves finds themselves in attacking position, they might suddenly become extremely talented, on a par with Quinn.

Kit: We have a slightly unusual, and very important, system for kit. If we kick off first, we will wear an entirely white kit - and, if we win the toss, this is what will happen. If we do not kick off first, we will wear an entirely black kit. This applies regardless of our opponent's colours.

RP permissions: This entire roleplay is a bit odd. If you don't like that, you can just make up whatever the hell you like. If you don't mind it, then please follow the player descriptions.

Specifically, you may choose my scorers, but:
- goals cannot be scored by Karl and will only very rarely be scored by any of the reserves;
- of the others, Quinn is the most likely to score, Brian the least;
- Quinn takes penalties, Naoko takes free kicks, Brian takes corners, Ryan takes throw ins;
- the team play a very "two dimensional" style of football, and so will rarely lift the ball or head it.

You may give out yellow cards as you will but may not send off any of starters; you may send off any reserves at will.

You may injure any of my players except Karl, but if it looks like he is about to be injured we will forfeit the game. If Quinn gets injured our players will be very downhearted and play less well. Please no major, long term injuries: regardless of how we end one game, we always start the next one afresh!

Other godmodding: well, of course. And I would particularly welcome efforts to mesh with the obvious theme of this RP, but don't feel you have to. Sorry if my not taking this very seriously affects your RP enjoyment.

Home ground: We will not be playing in Quintessence of Dust. If you RP your team travelling to Quintessence of Dust, you'd better also RP a lot of head scratching and confusion! Ask anyone in the Archipelago and you'll get the same answer, 'Cassa' is the man. And far sexier than Carlos Panadero too. Sure his side may have tailed off in the world cup 49 qualifiers but then he won Cup of Harmony 41 so it's all good. Yes his passport says Candelariasian but we all have our crosses to bare.


Staff

Ferran Higuera and Vicente García, Cassa's trusted lieutenants at Sporting San Marquez, form the backbone of his backroom staff. Former Caires City teammate Shane Avdeev continues to work with the defence and Dr Eduardo Marquez keeps the players in one piece, mostly.

Good news, he's a regular in the CMSC. Bad news, it's for NAPPC. But, given the monumental qualification schedule he may just get a game. Plays the banjo, apparently.

GK: 24. Mariano Ojeda (23) – Rio Bonito (Cafundéu) (13 Caps)
Several years ago Ojeda got Dagan pulses racing at the Di Bradini Cup, helped largely by his good looks, muscular frame and ability to lose his shirt when you least expect it. Plays in Cafundéu, so you know he's good. In the second tier, so you know he's not as good as Tejera.



D/DMRL: 2. Marcos Díaz García (25) – El din Marbles (Candelaria And Marquez) (76 Caps)
Once tipped as the next 'big thing'. Seventy something games later he's now tipped to probably balls up defensively at least once a game. But his ability to play on either flank makes him nice and versatile.

DRC: 12. Germán Moya (28) - Deportivo Soluca (9 Caps)
Captained unfancied Deportivo to an unexpected SuperLiga title last season. Which is why he's here essentially.

CB: 5. Néstor González (30) – El din Marbles (Candelaria And Marquez) (88 Caps / 5 Goals) - Captain
Big, uncompromising central defender who's not afraid to get right stuck in, know what I mean guv'nor? A regular in Candelariasian football who led the Corsairs to Cup of Harmony glory in Pasarga.

CB: 6. Alberto Torres (29) – Sporting San Marquez (17 Caps / 1 Goal )
Another typically big, tough defender who has been in and out of the side as Cassa searches forlornly for a back four that might, one day, keep a clean sheet.

CB: 16. Saúl Mérida (26) – Deportivo Soluca (0 Caps)
Guess what? He's big, he's imposing and he happens to be a SuperLiga winner. Dominant in the air but tends to turn like the Queen Mary.

DLC: 23. Cristian Viera (24) – SC Lasft (Cafundéu) (45 Caps)
Unusually comfortable on the ball for a Sargossan centreback, some might almost say classy. Almost. A recent move from Sporting San Marquez to SC Lasft can't have hurt the onetime first choice's chances.
D/DML: 3. José Blanco (26) – Ciudad Soluca (54 Caps) / 2 Goals)
An underrated performer both domestically for mighty Ciudad and internationally down the Corsair's left. Solid defensively and offers good delivery from the flank. A thoroughly nice fella all round.

D/DML: 15. Javier Roldán (22) – Deportivo Soluca (0 Caps)
The biggest domestic transfer of the summer as the champions snapped up Deportivo Cordova's marauding wing back. Loves nothing more than charging down the flank. He loves it so much in fact that every now and then he forgets he's supposedly a defender.

A carthorse among thoroughbreds, is the analogy we've been using for the past three cups, but he'll get stuck in like a good 'un. When in doubt, kick it seems to be his motto. Seems to work too.

Win the ball, pass the ball. And repeat for the next ninety minutes. Which just about sums up one of Cassa's most reliable performers.

DMC: 22. Mariano Giménez (25) – Ciudad Soluca (0 Caps)
Another identikit midfield anchor man. And that's about it. Except for the fact that he's never scored a goal. Ever.

MC: 7. Marcos García Fernández (27) – Ciudad Soluca (86 Caps / 14 Goals)
The biggest name arrival in the SuperLiga ahead of the new season as Ciudad spent big to repatriate the former Jaguarés playmaker from the D-League. The midfield maestro could conceivably thread a football through the eye of a needle. Simply put García Fernández is very, very good.

AMC: 8. Diego Lara (23) – FK Samseong Dreiliņaja (Somewhereistonia) (48 Caps / 13 Goals)
Good passing, excellent technique and a shot like the kick of a mule makes Lara popular with the fans. Or it did before he chased the Samseong dollar and moved to a second tier club in, of all places, Somewhereistonia.

MC: 17. Jésus Vazquez (25) – Clube Comercial (Cafundéu) (12 Caps / 1 Goal)
There was always a suspicion that Vazquez was a bit good. And his inspirational form for Deportivo Soluca helped the capitol club to their first SuperLiga title. Barely had the celebrations finished when he was jetting off to Cafundéu. Lucky chap.

Few players get shunted around as much as our Alberto. Still, on his day he's a proven match winner at the highest level. Proven I tell's ya.

Out and out wingers don't tend to get a look in within Cassa's grand tactical plans. But it's always nice to keep one around. Just in case.

A precocious young 'un blessed with the kind of technique you just can't coach. He knows it to. Last season he spent far too much time in the gossip columns than the sports pages.
