When it was first established, it did operate manned missions into space as well as landing a man on the moon, but this was abolished with the reduction of funding in 1983. More recently, probes have only been sent out due to the permissibility of private investment and research.

The Department for Aerospace Development, a part of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, contains an Office of Aerospace Law which is tasked with such matters in conjunction with a liaison from the Ministry of Justice. Likewise, other Offices within the Department for Aerospace Development have small-scale programmes related to extra-terrestrial life, though it is low on the Ministry's priorities.

What is your current government's stance towards extraterrestrial life:
The Crown Commonwealth would immediately reveal the discovery of extra-terrestrial life to both its own people and the international community. However, relations with such a life-form would be initiated on behalf of the Crown Commonwealth only, rather than on behalf of all of humanity.
