The Main Battle Tank Thread

So what do you think is the best Main Battle Tank in the world and why? I think that the Leopard 2 (particularly the A6 and A7+) are the best. The Leopard 2 has strong composite armor that is more slopped than the armor on the M1 Abrams which adds additional protection from HEAT and Kinetic Energy rounds. The L44 and L55 120mm smoothbore tank guns are also among the most powerful tank guns in the world. Another great thing about the Leopard 2 is that because it has a snorkel, it can cross shallow rivers with ease while the M1 Abrams and Challenger 2 would need a combat bridge layer.

Best is kind of difficult to define when militaries don't build/buy tanks to be the best, they do it to get the best tank to fit their needs and combat doctrine.

You should come and your question here, in the other NS MBT thread. This is where military enthusiasts come to post in contrast to NSG, where liberal hippies who think military spending is a waste of money come to post.
