The Nuclear Fist wrote:Hmm. Difficult to say. There's the 914mm Mk. 10 'Morgob Mortar', which is a super heavy siege mortar, though its ridiculous size and weight ensures it is really only used for defensive purposes. It has a range of 2.11 kilometres. Though having a rate of fire of only four shells a minute, it can individually destroy most airships, and most troop formations.

After that would be the 508mm Mk. 508 'Stormgit' gun. More commonly the Stormgit is used as a coastal defense gun. It has a range of 2 kilometres.

The Mk. 460 'Airgun' is a 460mm naval gun used on heavy airships. It is used in shore bombardments and ship to ship warfare.

Then there is the 457mm Mk.457 'Slamblaster' railway howitzer. It is terrifyingly powerful but relatively short ranged, so it is mostly used as a mobile defence gun. It has a range of 20,500 metres.

The Mk. 342mm 'Shell' is a naval gun used in ship to ship combat and shore bombardments. It has the advantage of a decent rate of fire.

The Mk. 238mm 'Dawn' gun is a super heavy field cannon used for long range bombardment. Due to its range of 135 kilometres, this field cannon can be used to bombard enemy coasts and whatnot from the Krorkish Empire. Its effect is absolutely devastating and, as the longest ranged gun in the Empire's arsenal, a state secret. It can be mounted on rails and fired, though after every shot must be moved to a different area to prevent warping of the rails.

Furthermore, all the above can be fitted with specialized armour piercing, high explosive, or gas shells.

Daaaaaamn......

And I though I had the biggest guns.

I guess I'll scale up my 30.5s to 38cm guns.

The biggest guns we have are 406mm "Buster" dual-purpose artillery. Could take down the heaviest of airships with its AP rounds, and shred ground formations with HE. Think of it as the naval guns on the Iowa put on the ground.

The next is the 380mm "Harbringer", which we use in our dreadnoughts and as the anti-ground armament of our Bombarders. Very powerful, and a higher rate of fire than the Buster.

After that is the 305mm "Breadwinner". Mainstay of our naval fleet. Everything from frigates to cruisers and Bombarders have these. Fast rate of fire, although penetration is questionable.

Then we have the 170mm "Hellraiser" artillery. Main artillery piece, used for bombardment. Can also take down an airship with a lucky hit.

Not really a gun, but we also have the 250pd bomb. Droppable from airships and some specially-modified biplanes, we use it to wreak havoc on the ground and in the air.

Also, are landships allowed? Tank-like stuff.

I have biggest. I have 900mm gun.
It don't work

I was toying with the idea of The Republics mass-producing something similar to Land Ironclades, though I don't know if that would be feasible with my rather low military attribute.

I wouldn't push it much past armoured cars, Great War-era tanks, and the Levavasseur project. I'm the Co-Op, so obviously my say isn't final, but Land Ironclads would be pushing it a bit. Highly industrial and militarized nations, I suppose, might have a few of them, but I wouldn't feel it right to just have a lot of them starting off. They'd be incredibly expensive and prone to breaking down, so they'd really only be used in certain situations, I would think. Remember that tanks were repeatedly rejected until the stalemate of the Great War (pertaining to reality) proved that armoured cars weren't enough.

Oh, and remember that any potential tanks (or as the Krorkian call them, barrels) are going to be both horrendously slow, prone to breaking down, and incredibly loud.

I kinda though the same thing too. I'd arm them with a Gatling gun or a light cannon in a rotatable turret, with the steam engine out back.

Of course, the 914mm Morgob Mortar can only be fired sparingly, as anything more will cause it to destroy itself. Of course, the sheer size and power of the shells fired by a Morgob are more than enough to destroy most things, and the sudden flattening of everything within the city block-sized area around you generally has a profound psychological effect of enemy forces. The Morgob Mortars can also be filled with things such as scrap metal, ball bearings, grapeshot, etc and used against infantry formations. Entire infantry formations.

That would be closer to an armoured car, and gatling guns generally hat a lot of men needed to crew them, but I'd say that yes, you can have them. Just don't expect to have fleets of them unless you're in a total war scenario. Oh, and please keep in mind that my say isn't final, OP can overrule any of my decisions on the matter.

Can I have a sort of Leonardo Da Vinci style tank? Basically a lump of metal covering a bunch of cogs than run off some sort of power source, and guns sticking out.

Hmm. And here I was going to go with reasonable-sized guns for the era. Ah well, why waste a good chance to ever-so-slightly extend the laws of reality?

Each of our airships has a single 750mm, long-barreled gun suspended under the forward section of the hull. This has surprisingly good range and accuracy, but a poor rate of fire, and is used either for long-range bombardments of forts or as a standoff-range weapon to target enemy airships.

The airship's main armament is its roughly two dozen 200mm howitzers, which are designed to fire on enemy airships or bombard ground targets. They can also be loaded with canister shot to fire on aircraft.

Each airship also has a few 45mm explosive-round Gatling guns, which can be used to puncture airship hulls or destroy aircraft, though their main purpose is to frighten off attacking sky creatures.

And, of course, there's the usual assortment of Maxim guns, for the final line of defense in the event of a close-range engagement.

I also have a plan for steam-driven, all-terrain, four-wheeled tanks, although they would be rare, slow, and not particularly well armed.

All of the guns I mentioned are based on actual, real life designs.

Each of our airships has a single 750mm, long-barreled gun suspended under the forward section of the hull. This has surprisingly good range and accuracy, but a poor rate of fire, and is used either for long-range bombardments of forts or as a standoff-range weapon to target enemy airships.

And, of course, there's the usual assortment of Maxim guns, for the final line of defense in the event of a close-range engagement.

How would that fly? Not that I'm criticizing, I'm just having a hard time imagining airships being able to lift something so doubtlessly heavy. Most of our airships are armed with small, quick firing six pounders and two pounders, as well as some gatling guns. Though if we're allowed to arm our airships like that, I may have to redesign.

I also have a plan for steam-driven, all-terrain, four-wheeled tanks, although they would be rare, slow, and not particularly well armed.

That was generally my idea, though I was thinking more of an armoured car than a tank.

If you're going for a German theme, I'd suggest something closer to an armoured car or an A7V, although what you described seems closer to a British Whippet than an A7V.

Okay. And A7V which is longer, and has a 57mm gun in a rotatable turret.

Eh, I suppose I'll sign off on it. I generally use British-themed equipment in Steampunk things like this, so any tanks or armoured cars I would use would look like those used in the first World War. No rotating turrets, just multiple gun ports.
