Morrdh Re-establishes Ministry of Reclamation

MORRDUN - Her Majesty's Morridane Government has recently announced that the Ministry of Reclamation, defunct since the mid-1950s, will be re-established as a government department.

The original Ministry of Reclamation was first formed during the Great Border War in the 1940s to handle the clearance of war damage and oversee reconstruction efforts across the Commonwealth, though after the war it was gradually winded down and the last of its functions were passed to local authorities in 1954. Its re-establishment comes with little surprise to many with some considering it another sign of the Morridane government preparing itself for a major conflict, something that is increasingly likely as regional tensions continue to grow.

The Ministry will be tasked with overseeing the various slum clearances in many of the Commonwealth's cities, this includes the district of Rudshore in the capital of Morrdun after approval for its reclamation was finally given. Though a wartime role similar to that of the original Ministry has been outlined in the event that Morrdh comes under direct attack, but in the meantime it will focus on clearing the slums that blight our fair cities and build replacement housing.

IHN Announces Postponement of Summer Exercises

The Office of the Navy today announced that the planned exercises involving the IHN 6th Fleet and elements of the 2nd and 5th Air Forces have been postponed as the eruption of conflict to the North of the Home Islands leads to higher demands for operational deployments.

Imbrinium Attacks Stevidian Royal Navy

In a massive escalation, tensions have finally boiled over between the Kingdom of Imbrinium and the Holy Empire of Stevid with an aerial missile attack against a Stevidian Splinter Fleet as part of the 2nd Fleet. The attack is reported to have been by B-12 and B-90 bombers launching Lyran produced Hellion cruise missiles. In total over 13 ships over various classes have been either destroyed or crippled, including the loss of the Crusader Class battlecruiser HMS Arturus.

After action reports are still being released by the MOD, however the attack came during the mid morning and involved hundreds of Hellion missiles being launched against the fleet. In a daring bid to counter attack by sea, three escorts made north to intercept and were provided air cover by an entire air wing from a Stevidian carrier.

The initial encounter destroyed a large portion of the missiles and allowed the fleet's picket line to react and adapt to the situation. In the process the three ships were either crippled or destroyed and the aircraft scored few other all kills.

Several hundred missiles penetrated the AA defence line of the fleet but failed to score any decisive kills on Royal Navy fleet or escort carriers. However an electronic warfare cruiser was destroyed along with several AA cruisers. But the biggest loss to the fleet was the battlecruiser capital ship HMS Arturus. A Crusader Class BCGN, she took a total of 10 missile strikes after drawing fire away from the carriers by passing north and unleashing what has been described by one witness as a "Torrent of missiles and artillery the likes of which the sky has never seen!" The result explosion killed over 1000 of her 1400 crew.

The Fleet Air Arm has retaliated by pursuing the bombers before they can return to friendly airspace. There is no clue as of yet what other forms of retaliation the Holy Empire will take in the wake of this attack.

Commonwealth To Disarm Nuclear Force

MORRDUN - After previously announcing to scale down it's nuclear stockpile a few months ago, Her Majesty's Morridane Government has today declared that it is to completely disarm its nuclear force.

It is suspected that it is a move by Prime Minister Edmund Vermillion to help calm tensions in Greater Dienstad as well as a desire to focus on conventional weapons that are easier to develop, maintain and store. The move also comes as the Commonwealth increased its Skyguard units across all three Services of the Morridane Armed Forces and move towards non-nuclear cruise missiles.

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson stressed that the disposal of the nuclear weapons "would be in strict accordance with international law".

Terahertz-Fast Chip Inches Closer; 1000 GHz Zero Bandgap Graphene Transistor Validated

SOLZOT - The new era of graphene supremacy in conventional electronics may be closer than what most Haize think; Azieha ICT Institute researches had recently reported the success of experimental feasibility of a gated, zero bandgap graphene/molybdenum sulphide field effect transistor operating at 1000 GHz in room temperature. The trio however cautioned Haishan may be slow to adopt GZFETs as currently only the transistor design is fast but not other circuit elements that make up an electronic chip.

GZFETs would also require development of new algorithm to take advantage of their speed should they're to be integrated in large scales given most commercial chip algorithms in Haishan barring classified military ones are only known to barely scale the 20 GHz barrier. Nevertheless, it is very likely that the new transistors are expected to fill a niche application as solid state amplifiers in HPVA-backed upcoming super network project for now, till the necessary circuit elements and relevant softwares are developed to exploit GZFET massive speed. Rhondda's Future Secured!

CCA - Weeks after a ceasefire was agreed, an agreement has now been reached between the Commonwealth Colonial Authority and the Rhonddan separatist movement known as the 'Viet Taff'.

A deal has made that aims to secure Rhondda's economic future and keep the colony viable for decades to come, something that all parties agreed upon and seen as a key issue. It is understood that the plans drawn up for Rhondda's future are comprised of three components as follows;

Following the announcement of military operations known as 'Exercise Green Fable' by the joint cooperation of the Republic and Commonwealth of Akimonad and the Free Republic of Lamoni, an Akimonadi cruise ship illegally trespassing on Castillian seas was found to be transiting weapons of mass destruction. When the Imperial Customs officers ordered the captain to hand over the ship, and his crew to be impressed, the captain refused and the ship was sunk, as it posed a threat to national security.

At least seven thousand lives were lost, and one-hundred remain unaccounted for. The Republic and Commonwealth of Akimonad responded by not being sensible, and confessing to the illegal crimes of transporting weapons of mass destruction, but instead by with a declaration of war. Lamoni and Mokastana followed in pursuit, effectively declaring war as well.
