We don't have as many pigeons as you'd fine in New York. Seagulls severely outnumber pigeons, and they're a lot worse than a pigeon will ever be, mostly because they're not afraid to attack beach goers or mailmen.
For those wondering and those who I RP with, my nation is the Carribean islands, (minus Trinidad and Tobago and Aruba), and Florida.

We have several species of doves in Fatatatutti. They generally nest on rock faces and are found only occasionally in the cities. They are not considered big enough to be worth eating.

Since our nation is located on the northern ice cap, pigeons are not native. However, they do exist here, and fly freely around the colossal underground caverns where our cities are located. We also have genetically engineered a meat-eating fierce breed of pigeon, whom we occasionally feed capitalists and other such sub-human flith to.

There are no native species of Pigeon in the Magocracy, though squab is occasionally brought in to sell as a delicacy.

Wild animals are quite rare within YellowApplan cities, which are typically environmentally sealed. However, some birds - including pigeons - have on occasion been accidentally imported into cities; this is the cause of the current pigeon infestation in the YellowApplan city of Lazytown.

Pigeons in Frenequesta come in one of two varieties: Natural and Artificial. The natural pigeons, are, of course, direct descendants of their Earth counterparts, although the term "rock dove" is more common for the bird than "pigeon", especially in the cities of Neue Bayreuth, Platzetorf, La Vitabreve City, and Unirove (basically any city in the south-southwest region of the country, the main population center). Artificial pigeons look more or less the same; in fact they are almost completely indistinguishable from their natural counterparts, except that their pupils turn blue, yellow, or red when in the presence of a person depending on whether the person is known, unknown, or engaging in suspicious activity. These pigeons usually serve as outdoor surveillance cameras for private companies and government buildings, and can relay information from the outside to an indoor security system, with a greater range of mobility than ordinary security cameras. Strangely enough, these artificial pigeons can breed with natural pigeons, but the offspring are usually sterile and have no surveillance capabilities. These pigeons, however, are often sold as pets, especially as a "training" pet bird for young children, as their maintenance is less than that of most birds.

Both types of pigeons usually do not sport the telltale green head common to the archetypal pigeon, and look more similar to this.

They are a national delicacy. We don't kill them on sight but we capture them and take them to humane slaughterhouses. Big cities with lots of pigeons tend to have very slightly better economies than simulated without pigeons because of their economic impact on the food industry. Pigeon meat is very controlled though and is thoroughly cooked and tested for diseases, but other than that it is part of our food culture.

Since we took over Earth and corralled all of the humans, the pigeon population has shrunk dramatically. Still, there are some. They tend to congregate around the biological rendering plants in the hopes of snagging some of the incoming product. Those who aren't careful and get too close to the grinders become part of the rendered biomass.

We have a neutral opinion of the birds, but have been known to blast those who defecate on us with a bit more power than is necessary. A Decepticon who sits around in a pigeon-populated area is often mistaken for a statue, with predictable results. Therefore, some have proposed introducing genetic code that causes pigeons to recognize us as alive. Others, however, note that pigeons have not really been shown to care whether something else is alive when they drop a load anyway!

There are no pigeons on Cybertron. They've tried to get into the cargo-bots, but we're used to watching out for flying things and always spot (and blast) them before they can board. Plus, most cargo-bot holds don't have a controlled atmosphere in their holds, so the birds would die during the trip through space even if they did manage to hitch a ride.

Sadly are extremely common. Their numbers have to be thinned out twice a year due to the amount of damage they cause to agriculture. They also get shot in country clubs.

They are well-fed and their populations are maintained at a large a diverse number. One never knows when a bad harvest may lead to starvation...and then you can feed a Pleb family on a squab a day. Taste like...well, they taste like lamb actually. :o

In Allanea, the rock dove, (Columba livia), its various subspecies, exist in two uses:

1. One, they are grown for pets and trade animals, as part of the so-called 'pigeoning' hobby, were individuals (particularly children, especially in the lower classes), raise and collect pigeons of various kinds. Pigeons of rare breeds are traded, much like trading cards, and of course the pigeons in question are cooked as well.

2. More prominently, wild pigeons are seen as a pest and a nuisance. THey are hunted without limits, and some corporations even allow hunters to kill pigeons on corporate premises on mutually amicable arrangements. Children as a young as ten will shoot at pigeons with air guns and .22LR rifles. More mature hunters can be seen in this image.

Certain companies have worked on importing passenger pigeons (Ectopistes migratorius) in Allanea and breeding them artifically, for the purpose of re-enacting the massed passenger pigeon hunts of old.
