I'm sure if Obama had a retarded son and Hannity made fun of him then you would be saying that it's just a joke, too.

The right would. But you on the left would be like: "HANNITY IS SO EVIL AND MEAN AND I HATE FOX NEWS ARRRRRRGH WHY IS HE SO STUPID I WISH THEY FIRE HIM"

Funny, because that's exactly what you're doing. You just said that you're side is saying "HANNITY MAHER IS SO EVIL AND MEAN AND I HATE FOX NEWS HBO ARRRRRRGH WHY IS HE SO STUPID I WISH THEY FIRE HIM"

My first two lines do not imply it. They are a response to someone saying that we shouldn't make fun of mentally handicapped children.
I disagree.
We should make fun of them just like we make fun of everyone. Just not for being handicapped.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

to be fair that was the acceptable scientific word for years, soon special needs will be insulting, then mentally handicapped will be, ect, ect, whatever word is used to identfy them, will be used as an insult by some, and thus will become offensive given time.

remember retarded literally just means "slowed down"
which is why it was used originally to replace feeble minded, retarded was PC at one point.

That said as a long term social commentator he should have known better.

I got quite annoyed after the Haiti earthquake. A baby was taken from the wreckage and people said it was a miracle. It would have been a miracle had God stopped the earthquake. In other news, Bill Maher's kind of a jerk. He's also a pseudoscientific quack - see vaccination.

While religion frequently brings out the worst in people, there are plenty of atheist buffoons as well. :palm:

Uh... This is weak sauce.

So a second-rate comedian supposedly called a child a retard - which would be very uncouth of him to do - and mr. Republican guy does nothing about it but starts heckling him later, when Halliburton is mentioned. He then goes online to crow about how he confronted said comedian?

Shouts of “Halliburton? It’s 2013,” and “Who’s the president?” is not in any sense confronting him over calling a child a retard.

This is not Defending Those Without A Voice.

bill maher should get rid of his opening monologue writers. stale and unfunny and having a stupid palin "joke" all the time..it was funny when she was running, and a little bit funny when she was threatening to run and now its just crap.

his panel segments and interviews are good and most of the time, the ending monologue too.
