Yes, but unis obviously dont recommend it... and thats all that really matters, doesn't it?

I clicked the first link, Natural Sciences at Cambridge. It contained the following under the entry requirements for A-levels:

- A Level Biology, A Level Chemistry and AS Mathematics or Physics
- A Level Chemistry, A Level Mathematics and AS Physics
- A Level Physics, A Level Mathematics and AS Further Mathematics

All of those contain only two A-levels and one AS level. We pick four AS levels and and can drop one at A-level. We are advised to pick at least one science and one humanities subject as showing you aren't a one-trick pony is good.

Except they say in highly desirable category, "a third science/mathematics subject to at least AS Level". Then they go on to say "helpful to have a strong knowledge base across a wide range of science/mathematics subjects".
Basically having five science/mathematics subjects will be more helpful than having four science/mathematics subjects and one humanities.

The carrier advisor in our school, told us specifically to specialise because it will look good for universities.

If they meant that then they would have said something along the lines of: We recommend you do as many sciences and mathematics as possible.

The carrier advisor in our school, told us specifically to specialise because it will look good for universities.

Ours is telling us the exact opposite, that overspecialisation was a bad thing. As did the headmaster of a school I went to look around and the headmaster of my current school and several of my teachers.

A proposal that I'd like to make "okay" for all the parties that support non-privately owned emergency services.

National Fire & Medical Safety Act
Realizing that many areas without municipal city or village governments lack proper protection from fires and rescue service hereby establishes a National Fire Service, which is to be the primary rescue and fire response agency in areas without city or village governments which already have a fire service in place.

Article I - Establishment of the National Fire Service
1. Gives this agency jurisdiction throughout the entire nation.
2. Gives this agency the permission to go onto private property in the case of an emergency.
3. Gives this agency the permission to use flashing blue and red emergency lights
4. Gives this agency the permission to use Emergency sirens.
5. Gives this agency permission to violate traffic laws in case of an emergency, if emergency lighting systems are activated.
6. Gives this agency permission to medically treat people who are unable to give consent (unconscious, or impared).

I realize I could elaborate and use better English, but it's what I came up with in 15 minutes :D.

Ambulance service is covered in the Universal Health Care Act. The bill is too short and poorly written as well. For 15 minutes, it's a start though.

Hasn't passed yet, but it's in the queue. I haven't added in the ambulance clauses officially... I don't know what the procedure is for modifying bills already in the queue, do I amend it when it come to debate or what?

No matter what subject you study, what profession you wish to enter, what you want to do in your life at all, you aren't going to be doing it in a vacuum. You're doing it in a social context, and so it is incumbent upon you to know enough about the society around you and humanity as a whole so that you can contextualize your own work, make ethical decisions about it, and put it at the service of humanity.

Also, not really related, but I'm drafting a bill that would establish civil law and an inquisitorial system within our nation's judiciary system, plus the judiciary system itself, based upon the widely recognised French/Napoleonic system. There will be provisions for the eventual codification of law, once we can actually define certain felonies, delicts and other offenses. Prosecutors will be able to oversee investigations and decide if it's worth bringing up a case. If so, then the prosecutor will submit all evidence to the judge, who will then decide if it's worth going with the trial. The trial will then commence and it'll mostly be dominated by the Judge, who will regulate the argument between the prosecution and the defense, review evidence, make witnesses formally testify and allow the prosecutor and the defense attorney to make to offer legal arguments and alternative interpretations to the facts that emerge during the process. Juries shouldn't be used as judges will be career judges (panels as the status of the court gets higher) to ensure that there is impartiality and lack of corporate/political bias. The defendant is protected from self-incrimination and guaranteed the right to a fair trial. At all stages, including their detention by the police force, they are permitted to have a defense attorney at all times and they can not be denied their access to one. Per most civil law systems, there will be four tiers of courts, to deal with constitutional law, criminal law, administrative law, commercial law and private law, each with different levels of courts. In terms of Prosecutors, Attorneys and Judges, in order to become, all of them will either need a Bachelor of Law, or if they did do a Bachelor of Law, then perhaps we could set a requirement for a Masters. Then they specialise, with prospective Judges training to become Judges, prospective Prosecutors training to become Prosecutors and prospective Attorneys training for their bar exam. As a notification, Prosecutors are considered civil servants and magistrates rather than lawyers, in the inquisitorial system. Some jurisdictions even have them as part of the court, but as that's unfair, they'll belong to a separate prosecutor's office headed by a Chief Prosecutor. Judges, as stated, will not be appointed, elected etc and instead will be trained professionals. This has the advantage of eliminating a biased and unqualified jury. As the status of a court rises, then the need for panels of Judges become apparent for the sake of fairness. Attorneys are essentially lawyers in the traditional sense in that they represent their client and give them legal advise. Most of the time they'll be on the defense in an inquisitorial system case. We can call them something else, like Barrister or whatever idea for a call name you have.

In order for this system to work, as a basis, we need to establish constitutional law, criminal law, administrative law, commercial law and private law. Even if you support common law and the adverserial system, because apparently if you have the money to get the best defense lawyer and you're facing a bunch of underpaid, overworked prosecutors, it is the best possible system, we need formally establish those four. Eventually, if we go with civil law, it'll be codified, then we can introduce the inquisitorial system. I'll be making this into a big omnibus bill, which would include the civil law system, it's codification and the establishment of an inquisitorial judicial system. What I need is a committee to assist me, which would hopefully include the Minister of Justice. If you're interested, then feel free to contribute. If you support the common law/adversarial system or socialist justice, then voice your opinion on why unfair trials and political bias is the best possible way of finding the truth.

I don't think that it's required to be a separate ministry. Generally speaking, most countries don't have separate ministries for emergency services and are sometimes put under the control of the Ministry of the Interior or equivalent. In some cases, they are left to fend for themselves.

Now, what about those emergency vehicles I asked about? Do you have any ideas on what colours are to be used?

Hippo already proposed an ambulance that looks fine. For Fire, I recommend London Fire's schme, looks good and is simple. Police, I've made temporary police vehicles for a skin pack I'm putting together :P. I'm thinking using the battenburg design on it, or just going simple white body, black bonnet and boot.

The National Railway Act

Postby Potenco » Fri May 17, 2013 7:43 pm

Drafted by: Potenco

REALIZING that the backbone of any great country is a strong railway system

ACKNOWLEDGING that while trains may seem antiquated, a bullet train system from city to city across the land would bring the nation to the forefron of NSearth.

ESTABLISHES a Ministry of Transportation with it's Minister being picked by the Senate

Will Appropriate two billion dollars to begin construction of a basic public railroad system to encourage investment

Will appropriate a further three billion dollars in stimulus bills and prepare to cut taxes to companies investing in this railroad system

The Ministry of Transport will be responsible for regulating the commercial aspects of any prvate railroads established

Feel free to add or take away provisions as you please, I just want a damn railroad system

Potenco, there is similar legislation (for the establishment of a transportation department) already in the queue.

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=235877&p=14244982&hilit=Transportation#p14244982

Also, the Constitution stipulates that the Ministers are appointed by the Prime Minister, who is appointed by the President. The Senate does not directly appoint ministers.

Your idea for a national railway system to be established is a good one though, perhaps you can trim the bill down to that, or include other forms of transport, like an inter-provincial highway system. We have an artist who is working on road signs at the moment, perhaps these signs could also be included in your bill.
