Blewog is a landlocked nation that is unified totally under the absolute rule of the monarch, Ælgebard V. However, the country is split up into 4 baronies, each ruled by a baron that is appointed to the peerage by his majesty. These divisions are Ørneth, Redshelf, Threnllan, and Æltarlann. Threnllan and Æltarlann are located in the west of Blewog, an area that is very different culturally to the capital and the East of Blewog.
Recently, controversy has arisen within the nation about the equality of the Western barons and Eastern barons, and they have all sat in council to the King. Ælgebard, the current king, who has recently succeeded his much loved father Edmund, responded to this continued controversy by issuing The Edict of Ensured Loyalty, which was royal decree that stripped the Baron Rœthar, Baron of Æltarlann, of his control of the local military, returning its upkeep to the king.
On May 1st, 2013, Rœthar and Cyrdic, the Barons of Æltarlann and Threnllan respectively, met at Threnllan and deliberated for 12 hours over the fate of their regions if their military powers were stripped. They came to a startling decision, and on May 3rd, 2013, they issued A Declaration of Secession, in which they denounced Ælgebard as incompetent, and declared that the baronies of Æltarlann and Threnlann were independent of Blewogi rule, establishing a provisional oligarchy run by themselves.
After this action, it is believed that the rebellious barons are controlling of 150,000 soldiers, and half of the nation.
Upon hearing of this, the king immediately declared the Baronies in an open state of revolt, and placed all 300,000 soldiers in the kingdom in a state of preparation for battle.
