The Grey Wolves (IC/OPEN)

Postby Landenburg » Fri Apr 26, 2013 11:10 am

THE BACKGROUND
The Tudarian Empire have ruled over Ura for over five hundred years and throughout this time their rule has been wholly inept and occasionally oppressive. The people of Ura want independence from the Empire and a rebellion has begun. The rebels are not strong enough to take on Tudaria in a straight fight, so they must resort to guerrilla tactics. However, they do have the support of the vast majority of Urans and this will no doubt aid them in their fight against the Empire.

6,000 GREY WOLVES ARRIVE IN BELWAY, THE HQ

1, 2, 3, 4! Janos barked, the thousand men in front of him meeting the rhythm. He aimed to make the most disciplined force in the Grey Wolves, no matter the cost.

"Halt!" Janos shouted, echoing. The men stopped abruptly. They turned and faced him, ready for new orders.
"Dismissed!" the Major shouted, sending the men to their barracks.

Janos turned and walked towards his office, to file paperwork. He expected to be at it for some time.

I may sometimes use "typos" to denote how John speaks.
Day X [Maybe give a starting date,for further reference] - John O'Seestone
Temporary HQ,west of Longri,Ura
Aye,captain.I want you to organise our supporters.Tell the commander of Corlin that we should try using the people.
All revolutions used people.Guevara,Mao,Lenin, they all based themselves on the people. And if we dont, then we wont succeed as they did and we hope to.
And Corlin is an important city.Clearing the tudors in it,would be a nessesary point for a victory.
And once we kick the tuds out, they will have a hard time getting back in.
And to get them out,we need to strike hard.
And to strike hard,we need to know their habits.
And for that,we need rebells.Notify all commanders that espionage shall be prioritised for now.

Pedro Diablo-Ignacio
Corlin, outpost COR-023
04JUN1960 1624hrs

Pedro looked fazedly around the outpost and its surroundings. "Okay. Spectre, I need you to get a few people who are drunk, brave, stupid or trusting enough for an attack on the outpost. Like anyone with any sense of strategy, they are not to attack from the front. They are to attack from everywhere but the front. You'll be leading them, but you'll also be getting the nine hells out of there when anyone starts trying to kill you. Got it?"
"Looks like. Should I start now?"
"Might as well. By the time you're ready, we are."
"Cool."

Spectre bounced off towards the nearest pub. Seemed to Pedro like the best idea. "Okay, Banshee," - they had all chosen nicknames linked to incorporial undead - "You're going to sit up here with this sniper rifle. Don't worry about ammo, it's really an altered assault rifle. Also means it's semi-auto."
"Ghost, I appreciate you don't want me getting into trouble, but..."
"And sniper is always the safest job? Come on, you're the only one I trust to do it."
"Uh, fine. Do I shoot just any Greys?"
"Only the ones who try to kill someone we care about."
"Cool, kiddo."

She took the rifle and went to park herself on the nearest roof. Pedro sighed. The others had thought she was his girlfriend until he noted that she was only a few days off seven years his senior.

"Wraith, you set the bomb in the centre of the building and time it for twenty. We should all be out by twenty. And both of you, make sure someone closes the bloody door. Wraith, Phantom, with me."

Like any self-respecting good guy, Pedro would attack from the front. Like anyone with basic self-preservation instincs, Pedro made sure that some safety measures were in place. Indeed, some safety measures looked as though they were just about arriving. Swords and shields, spears... the odd pistol where someone had managed to steal one... wholly inadequate for their supposed purpose, entirely adequate for their true one. Spectre opened fire, and the entire scene turned to chaos.

Grey Wolf Commanding Headquarters, City of Belway. 1330 hours.
"Well goddammit, tell him that if he doesn't make a disciplined unit of human trash, I'll find someone who can!", were the words that graced the fine afternoon. The arrival of the Grey Wolves with their commander, General Allen Praetoria, was hopped by the Tundarian Empire to be a sign of change within Ura. It was the objective of the Grey Wolves to bring order to a near lawless and extremely uncooperative territory, with the asterisk of using whatever methods necessary. Placed in command of the initial 6,000 men was a true off-set to the general Grey Wolf; General Praetoria believed in order, and scoffed at the idea of having to use the methods at his disposal. Of course, the average soldier under his command was of three categories: Criminals, Cowardly/Down-on-his-Luck Citizens or outright psychotics. Managing to get them into order would be the initial challenge that Allen never really expected.

He had been ordering Captains and Sergeants around for most of noon and late morning, trying to organize so-called "divisions." He had met some success, as he had a few good men whom he placed in positions within his headquarters or in command of battalions, but many of the squads were unruly; occasionally, ousting troublesome commanders and stuffing them within a make-shift detention block had been necessary. Still, much of the work had been accomplished and now it came down to an issue of arming the men.

Allen strolled across the headquarters, making his way towards the other side of the field of aged concrete. He made his way towards an officer's building (a small, former apartment complex) and entered an office within. Up the semi-crumbling stairs, a quick walk resulted in being outside of the office of Major Janos.

Entering the small office, General Praetoria spoke. "Major Janos! I need to know the status of our weaponry."
"Peace, like war, must be waged."

1147 Hours
South of Buncara
Sargeant Neikirk is finnally set up for the ambush. His two snipers are in the hills in the wilderness, his riflemen shielded by thier foxholes, his grenadiers ready to flank at the enemy behind a building. He knows that the enemies will show thier inablity when the leader falls as first blood.
"We will support the rebellion by taking the Wolf's Guns!
We will support the rebellion by taking the Wolf's Vehicles!
We will support the rebellion by taking the Wolf's Ammunition, Food, Morale!
For Ura!" says Neikirk.
"Ura! Ura! Ura!" chant the soldiers and the townspeople.
"We will win the war, we will win the war," Neikirk finnally wispers after the voices die down and the trucks start rolling in.

It had been given to civilians, supportive and non-supportive,and to rebells alike. All were told to spread it even more.
It was one short,message.

Grey Wolves Command Headquarters, City of Belway. 1332 hours.
General Praetoria gave a hint of a smile at the Major's words. The arrival of armaments was incredibly good news for the Grey Wolves, and could mean the start of offensives against the various rebel activities. He returned Janos's salute and continued.

"Excellent news, Major. I was hoping that we could arm the men as soon as they arrive; I'm also looking forward to the launch of some 'peacekeeping operations within the countryside. We've got reports of rebel raids off in Corlin; not that that's unheard of. However, I'm hoping that we could perhaps get right to work and engage in some counter-insurgency operations. Do you have any intelligence on rebel activity hotspots, or anywhere with possible importance to them?"

Praetoria hoped to please the Prime Minister and the rest of the Tundarian Government by showing that some progress was being made quickly. He wanted to get as much in the name of modern equipment as possible, since most Grey Wolves could only rely on semi-modern battle rifles and machine guns.

"As a side note, how are we on terms of vehicle inventory?", he requested to the Major.

Longri,Ura
05.06.60 - 2232
A unit of rebells, led by John, had been sent down to Longri.
Their goal was simple, destroy the vehicles, and,if possible, cause the tuds to flee.
And they went as such, covering their arms, with most of them, silenced, they sneaked towards the church.
They all entered, with John going first, his hands in his shirtpocket, holding the silenced gun, ready to use it.
Though he doubted it.His sources reported the priest as being strongly rebel-aligned.But then again, maybe they were wrong.
[If it is ok,I would like to have him a rebel, also, how exactly would NPCing/narrating be?Can I say he is there, and you make his reaction? Can I do both?]

1150 Hours

The enemy trucks are rolling in, and Neikirk gives his snipers the signal.

Private Jones and Smith are joking like they do every time they drive their truck. Suddenly, the truck in front of them swerves, stops abruptly, and everyone gets out. Everyone starts to search the woods, but before they do a Incindiary Grenade catches several of the wolves on fire. Rebels fire at us from all directions, even friendlies are attacking us! The whole world seems to be falling apart! Jones floors the gas pedal, getting the hell away from all this carnage.

"And that," says Neikirk, "is how you get them to panic."

1800 Hours
"Come in," says John, leader of the rebellion.
Sargeant Neikirk comes to the desk. "You asked for a report on the stolen goods?"
"Yes, what was in that convoy?"
"20 G3s with 240 rounds each, 10 M3 grenades, and scrapmetal from the wreckage."
"Damage report?"
"5 of thier men lost, 2 of ours. We destroyed 1 of thier trucks, but the rest fled before we could finish them off."
"Anything else?"
"Before and after the contact, we recruited 9 men to our side total."
"Thank you, that is all."

Grey Wolves Command Headquarters, City of Belway. 1335 hours.
General Praetoria was somewhat disappointed by the vehicle inventory. Despite their importance for the future of the territory of Ura, they'd been given surprisingly little of the equipment that he had suggested to the prime minister.

"Go ahead and put in a request for some M151's and Cadillac Gage Commando's," he told to Major Janos. "Our trucks will not be incredibly useful in anything other than transportation, and we'll definitely need some form of armored cars." He paused for a few moments to think, and offered a few more vehicle requests. "And ask them for anything in the name of air support; I don't understand why we're not offered anything in the name of-"

He was interrupted by a foot-solider entering the room, slamming the door open. "General! We've just got word that a convoy had been attacked out in the countryside; confirming a single truck lost with all five men and on-board munitions lost!"

"Oh hell," Allen muttered quietly before facing the Grey Wolf. "Give me a status report on that later, I'm-"

"Sorry to interrupt sir," the man rushed in. "But we've also gotten a report from COR-023. It's sporadic, but we believe they're under attack as we speak!"

"In any other instance I would tell you off for interrupting me," Praetoria answered. "But this is important." He then turned to Major Janos. "Major, get some men over there to find out what the hell's going on. And get someone to prepare medical crews for that inbound convoy!" He then walked out of the office alongside the Grey Wolf, going to try and wrangle together some officers to see what was going on.

Pedro Diablo-Ignacio
Corlin, outpost COR-023
04JUN1960 1627hrs

Unfortunately for the Wolves, they had been warned just slightly too late. A shame, really.

Spectre blasted off a few shots, before rushing off. The mere fact that one of the Shadow Warriors was there made almost the entire garrison rush after him, only to be confronted with a rabble of moderately angry civillians. Admittedly, there was only so much that random people from down the pub could really do - especially given their shoddy armaments - but they helped at least.

"Target front, everybody down!"

As the Wolves dropped to the floor to avoid shots from the rabble before them, Banshee opened fire on those who had stayed to guard the outpost, forcing them inside. The civilians, to their eternal cosmic credit, copied the Wolves' tactics. A stalemate ensued, neither side daring to move nor managing to hit anything. As far as Pedro was concerned, this was a good thing.

Those who had returned to the outpost had also closed the door. Those who ventured near the front fire points were lucky if they lived to wish they hadn't. Then, Pedro made his move. Rushing forth with Wraith and Phantom, he got to the door and shot the lock. He opened the door just enough for Phantom to toss a grenade in, before closing it again.

Opening the door once more, he blasted shots at the remaining Wolves, before opening fire on the ones outside through the rear fire points. "Don't set that until we have their weapons," he instructed Wraith, who nodded.

Moments later, the Shadow warriors had between them a small armoury of assorted weapons. Giving a few to the civilians, and taking the rest themselves, they instructed the civilians to cause as much chaos as they could.

"Wraith, I've changed my mind. Set that to 3 minutes," said Pedro, seing Wolves on the horizon. Exit the Shadow Warriors, enter the Grey Wolf reinforcements. And just in time to watch outpost COR-023 collapse.

04.06.'60 - 1620
Main Tower,Church,Iner city,Longri,Ura
"Ok,are all men designated for the mission here?",John asked his adjudant.
"Yes,all 23 of them are here",he was answered by the man known as "Captain Charles".
"And the priest?Has he appeared?",John continued asking.
"No,Sir.He may have left the place to not become suspect for helping us.Though he was right,it is a staging point on the base",the captain replied.
"Aye.Lets hope those tudors didnt think of an attack from the church",John made a pause, and gazed out of the window, catching sight of the base, with the tudorian flag raised high. Then he continued:
"Look if you can get any of the groups around us to stop an convoi heading for or through Longri outside of the city.'cause if they can, then this is going to be a piece of cake.If they cant manage by this night, were goin' in without. Its going to be costly. And of course dangerous. But it is our duty".
"I agree.I'll go,check with the other groups.Should I also check if any can come by the evening, help us storm the building?",Charles asked.
"Yes.The Hotel is secured. It wont be easy entering, and we'll need all help possible. Also send one of our men asking possible cells in the city, and searching for other possible volunteers.Tell the rest of the men that they are going to have to be here at 2000.Before that, some of them can wander 'round, but not more than 4,as that may call suspicion"
"Yes,Sir",the captain finished and went down.
Meanwhile John continued gazing from the tower, looking over the town, waiting for either something to happen,or for the night to come.

And as he did so,the officer went down and informed the fighters.
Few of them went out, some went getting a drink,in one of the pubs nearby, but most decided to stay, maintain the weapons,as if they felt that they were going to need to use them every minute.
The officer himself went to the radio, and started sending out an encrypted signal to other cells, waiting for their reply:
This is HQ calling all cells in half-days reach of Longri.
We are preparing to storm the local base.
If you are able to capture convois heading through or to Longri, before midnight, then please respond and do so.
If you are able to send reinforcements for us,which would arrive before midnight, then please respond and do so.
HQ,over.

While the message was sent, one of the soldiers, who had volunteered, had went for the pubs too,but not to drink, but rather to search for militants, and everybody who would agree help the fight.

4.6.1960,
A Pub in Longri

Finlay looked up as he heard the pub doors swing open. A man entered, whom Finlay instantly recognized.
He downed the remainder of his Whiskey and rose to his feet, walking over to meet him.
"Looking for me,were ya?" he grinned. In almost an instant his face grew more serious. "This is about the assault on the Tudor base, right? I assume there's room for a few more,my squad and I aren't particularly doing anything."
The man nodded.
"Very well then,I'll have to tell the Captain later on."
He stayed for one more drink, before gathering his men and departing for the Church.

Drake sighed and shook his head, if the rebels were being this lax about information to do with raids and assaults it'd only be a small time before the Grey Wolves crushed them. Putting down the half-empty pint that he'd been cradling as he had watched the pub looking out for either side he started to weigh his options. Either he followed the rather obvious trail that was the rebel and help them assault the base or he moved to the base itself and warned the Commander of the incoming attack. Standing up he walked out of the pub, not a single patron dared to challenge him, the sword strapped to his back saw to that, and if that didn't the shotgun that was obviously hanging from a special holster on his waist certainly did. Pulling his traveling cloak on Drake flipped the hood up of it, welcoming the shadows that now hid his face and body, as he exited the pub he looked left and right as if he was making his final choice then and there before briskly walking off in one direction, his destination known only to him.

Godric twisted the knife in his hand. He felt the blade's sharp edge, cleaned and polished. It glinted for a second in the sun, before he stashed it away safely to be used later. Taking a final look towards the police station, he turned and walked calmly away. His target was in his sights and they were dead to him. Too long he had suffered without avenging the death of his family.

Two Hours Later

He took the cap from the table and nodded to his Lieutenant across the room as he left. it was just another patrol, though that had meant much more since war had broken out. The Browning in his holster was a new addition, as was his "patrol partner". lone patrols were too dangerous now and instead he had to put up with the bastard waiting at the door.

"Nip round the corner and be back by dusk. Understood?" His partner didn't say a word. The mutual dislike made the job difficult, but they would get it done none the less.

Godric watched the pair turn the corner. He waited until they were a fair distance in front before emerging from the shadows and beginning his quest. They moved at a leisurely pace, but the officers seemed far from relaxed. Their eyes darted back and forth, forcing Godric to put his head down and often dissapear. He would always return though, ready to stalk his prey.

Eventually, the pair moved into a dark alley, now miles from the station. Godric took his chance.

Strong arms locked round the first officer's throat. Godric closed his grip, twisting to put the man in between any fire from his partner. Slipping the knife from his pocket, he found a large artery in the man's leg. Blood pouring from the cut, the man's flailing frame was trhown forward. His partner took the opportunity to fire past, but was knocked back as the corpse collapsed. Godric leapt and punched the gun away, pressing his victim against the wall.

"This is a wolf hunt. You and your friends will die one by one. I will kill all of you and I will never regret it. Understand me, wolfshit?" The officer nodded quickly. Godric could almost smell the piss in the man's pants. Pathetic.

"For the moment, you live. Only because I need you. Turn around and put your stomach against the wall." Godric released the man for a second. Mistake. The officer made to run for his gun, but he was outmatched. Godric swung a roundhouse kick at the officer's head, connecting heavily and splattering blood as the side collapsed inwards. He followed up swiftly, his elbow crushing into the skul again before a twist of the man's neck cut off his howls. Godric had sighed. He'd wanted the man alive for this. However, a corpse would do. Taking his knife in his right hand like a pen, he began to etch into the soft skin of the corpse's back. ONE BY ONE, THEY FALL

It was a gruesome example to the nation. By whatever means, freedom would be won.
