Actually I do remember something about that. I don't think anyone fired shots, but the Australian police intercepted some guy driving with an illegal gun to where Obama was going to be. Something like that.

Paul Kevin Curtis was arrested by the FBI at his home in Corinth, Mississippi, the department said in a statement.

Discovered Tuesday, the letters were addressed to Wicker, a Mississippi Republican, and to Obama. The justice department release said a third letter was sent to a Mississippi justice official.

There's been an arrest made in the case of the letters. It is of a Mississippi man. Probably removes any connection to the Boston Marathon bombings.

Why would we assume it is? The two events are completely different in every way. One was a violent multiple bombing targeting almost-random citizens, the other is a potentially-poisoned letter sent to the national executive leader in a possible assassination attempt. There is nothing that we know now, other than timing that connect these two, and two mean things happening at a similar time alone does not connect them.

Not the first person to attempt to assassinate a US president, or world leader. I'm sure it won't be the last. Unsurprisingly, it didn't work. *shrug* that's all I got.
